Twilight and Spike lived their childhood in Canterlot Castle under the benevolent eye of Princess Celestia and violent protection of her resident, so called, monster. A monster she returns to to find peace with but also unexpected danger and threats.

A strange and unique being has been making its home at Celestia's Castle for some years now. Despite its violent nature and mysterious origins it has been given the Princess' friendship and trust. Princess Celestia even assigned the cryptic creature as her young student's guard, giving Twilight and Spike a resolute guardian, friend and more.
Years later, an older Twilight has been living in Ponyville for a year, when she reveals to her friends the creature's influence during her childhood and a schism between her and it of her own creation that distanced them even before she left Canterlot.
Now, Twilight returns to Canterlot, accompanied with her friends, to mend a relationship she left broken for too long. But during her stay she will find out that many things had never been as they seemed, more have changed and monsters reside in everyone's soul, clawing for a chance to come out.
