Corporal Melissa Foster, a combat engineer of the United States Marine Corps, has been stolen from her home, her family, her civilization, everything she’s ever known. She has been hurled into a land ruled by anthropomorphic ponies a hundred years behind in technology. Nuclear energy, powered flight, spacecraft, telecommunications, all lost in an instant. Steam engines, flapping wings, hot-air balloons and semaphore are now the norm.
Now, with the help of a certain group of locals and another fellow human castaway, Melissa must use her training, wits, and equipment to survive on a world filled with monsters and wonders alike. She is determined to persevere, to thrive, and to introduce the locals to the human race, both the good and the bad. And maybe, just maybe, she’ll be able to find a way home.
For despite the wonders of Equestria, Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home.
