Third person:

Nightmare Moon powered up to her maximum capabilities which, with the alicorn earring giving her boosts of power, was quite powerful and made her evenly matched against Sombra for the time being.

Clare looked over to the large diamond at the top of the cavern. “If we’re going to have any chance of defeating this guy… I’m gonna have to destroy that thing” he said to himself. Clare cupped his hands together and a sphere of blue energy formed in his palms. He took a step forwards with his left foot and swung his hands to his right side.

“I got one shot at this before Sombra realizes and makes it difficult for me to destroy it… gotta make this shot count” he said to himself. Clare yelled as he swung his hands back in front of him and fired the beam of energy. Sombra looked over to see the beam flying towards his power crystal. “NOOOOOO!” he screamed, Moon took this moment of opportunity and flew directly at Sombra.

The powerful beam of blue energy erupted violently as it struck base. The entire cavern shook violently and Nightmare Moon slammed a very powerful punch right into Sombra’s gut then fired a powerful blast of energy into him from the end of her hoof.

Sombra went careening through the air, smoke puffing from his injury, and crashed into a crystal wall. Clare smiled but as the smoke cleared his smile disappeared. The crystal was still there, and it looked like it hadn’t even sustained any damage whatsoever.

Clare’s jaw dropped and Sombra laughed as he stood up. “Fool, no simple blast can harm my power crystal. It has a shield of pure energy surrounding it” Sombra sneered then flew towards Nightmare Moon.

Moon quickly evaded his charge and brought her hoof forwards then blasted him in the back of the head. He flew back into the ground with a painful crash but simply got back up and chuckled. Nightmare Moon gritted her teeth and flexed, forcing an output of power.

Her flowing mane sparkled and a powerful jagged aura surrounded her body along with electricity. Sombra charged at her head on and she fired a blast of energy that blew away his lower half. He snarled in anger but then gasped as a second blast struck his upper body and blew him into ashes.

Nightmare Moon knew he would quickly regenerate if given the chance. She brought both her hooves forwards and began to mercilessly fire a constant volley of dark blue energy blasts that erupted as they struck the ground. She began to yell as she forced her powers to exceed its regular output.

She drained most of her energy fairly quickly as she blasted away at Sombra’s ashes but she wasn’t paying attention to what was happening behind her. Sombra’s ashes quickly formulated his body behind her and he swung both his hooves into her back, sending her crashing to the ground.

She crashed into the crystal floor but she landed on her hooves, causing a large impact crater where she landed. She rose to her hindlegs to face Sombra who was laughing maniacally. She flew directly at the insane dark lord but as she went to strike him he teleported behind her and slammed both his hooves into her back and sent her hurtling through the air.

Sombra snickered and quickly flew after her. He flew right past her and swung his hooves, connecting with her body and sending it in the other direction. Nightmare screamed in pain as she was sent crashing into the hard crystal floor of the caverns.

Her body crashed against some crystals and she simply lay there in pain but Sombra showed no mercy. He flew directly down at her, hindlegs first, and slammed his hind hoof into the back of her head. The force smashed the crystals beneath Nightmare’s head and she screamed out in pain.

Sombra flew back to ready a powerful blast. “Alright, my turn” Clare yelled out. “No!” Nightmare called back as she staggered up. “It’s still my go… and I’m gonna make sure I don’t waste a second of it” she said painfully. Clare gasped as Nightmare flew back towards Sombra.

They began to throw a fury of punches at each other but Sombra quickly gained the upper hoof and slammed several punches into Nightmare’s gut then struck her with a powerful elbow that sent her crashing into a crystal wall. The rubble and debris fell on her. She groaned in pain, “Just a little… longer… I can do it… I know I can” she whispered to herself.

Her eyebrows lowered as Sombra laughed hysterically. Nightmare Moon charged at him and threw an uppercut which Sombra dodged but she slammed her elbow back downwards and caught him in his exposed throat with the strike. He gagged painfully as he staggered back and Moon quickly slammed his body with relentless kicks and punches.

Sombra hammered her in the side of the head with a painful blow that sent her slamming into a large crystal. Her body had formed a crater shaped exactly like her body. She grunted in pain, “You’re going to wish… that you never did that… come on!” she growled then flew towards Sombra at incredible speeds.

Clare gritted his teeth in anger, he should be there helping her but it might become a little too difficult trying to maneuver together at those speeds. He had to do something, but at the same time she had won the place to fight first and Clare respected that. He cursed to himself as he watched them continue to fight. “If only that crystal wasn’t there… Nightmare would mop the floor with this guy” Clare muttered to himself.

Moon’s body crashed into another crystal wall and she stayed there for several moments before staggering away from the wall. She ahd transformed back into her regular state from all the fatigue of battle. Sombra laughed at her petty efforts, though her will was still strong. “What are you laughing at?” Nightmare hissed and Sombra motioned for her to come over.

Moon yelled and charged up to her maximum power again then flew at him as fast as she could manage. She swung a powerful punch at Sombra which he simply dodged as he brought up a knee and hammered her gut with a painful strike that sent Moon crashing to the ground, groping in pain.

Sombra laughed then Nightmare rose up and charged at him. Sombra sighed humoressly but Nightmare Moon suddenly vanished. “Eh?!” he gasped then turned as he felt a presence behind him. Moon yelled out in anger as she slammed a powerful punch right to the side of his head.

Sombra’s head swung to the side but Moon quickly moved to his other side in a blur of motion and hammered his head with another punch. His head began to slam in every direction as Moon pummeled him.

She lept back then gave him a powerful round house kick that crashed his body through a crystal wall. Blood was trickling down her forehead and leaking out of her mouth from a cut lip but that didn’t faze her.

Sombra arose from the pile of debris that buried his body. Moon quickly flew at him and slammed a volley of punches into his chest and face. Sombra’s body shook violently as he was pummeled but then tilted his body side to side and began to dodge all of Moon’s strikes. He laughed as he kicked her in the chest and knocked the wind out of her.

He removed his hind hoof from under her and hammered her in the back with a powerful elbow that slammed her into the ground. Sombra flew back to allow Nightmare to get up. As she staggered to her hooves Sombra kicked her in the bottom of the jaw and sent her hurtling up into the air. He zipped upwards then slammed her in the back with both hooves. She was sent crashing back into the ground, her collision shaking the caverns and creating a large fume of smoke from the crash.

Sombra floated blissfully back to the ground and began to laugh hysterically. Clare gasped in horror. “Nightmare…” Clare muttered fearfully. Sombra turned to face Clare then began to trot over to him. “It’s about time I fought someone more… powerful” Sombra chuckled.

“Hey!... where do you think you’re going?” said a pained voice from the crater. Sombra stopped in his tracks and turned back to see a bloody hoof rise up from the rubble and pull its body up. Nightmare Moon staggered to her hooves, her dark shadow elite armour was cracked and mostly destroyed.

Sombra let out an irritated sigh as he turned around to face Moon. “I’m sick of you” Sombra snarled. “Yes… you’re sick of me because you can’t beat me… you’re pissing yourself… right now from the mere… sight of me… Is this what you want?” Nightmare asked as she flexed and once again had to ascend to her maximum power. “Go ahead and run away… I wouldn’t blame you… coward” Nightmare taunted. Sombra snarled and lashed out at her.

Nightmare smiled as Sombra charged at her and she slammed a punch into his face, knocking him back. She charged up to him and began to slam powerful punches into his face. She kicked him back then brought both hooves in front of her and fired a powerful blue blast into Sombra that completely annihilated his body.

“That’s right you fool” Nightmare said triumphantly but her small victory was short lived. Sombra quickly reformed his body then slammed her in the gut with a kick that sent her crashing into a bunch of crystals.

Nightmare Moon staggered up from the pile of rubble but Sombra flew up and grabbed her by her mane. Her brought his hoof up and blasted her with a powerful beam of purple energy that sent her crashing into more crystals. Sombra flew into the air then fired a large sphere of energy at Moon which erupted violently. Clare gritted his teeth, “Forget morals and the whole winner first go. If I don’t go in there now then Moon’s gonna die” Clare yelled out and was about to fly towards Sombra when suddenly a voice called out to him.

“Not so fast Clare… I won, so I get to go until I stop… it’s still my turn” Nightmare yelled out from the pile of smoking rubble. Both Sombra and Clare gawked as Nightmare Moon staggered out from the pile of rubble, holding a very wounded foreleg. Her face was covered in blood along with several spots on her body that had sustained heavy injuries. Her aura along with her powers had disappeared and she was back to her regular state. She was shaking just trying to stand.

“What’s so… funny?” Nightmare asked through painful winces. “What are you… staring at? You think that I’d be finished so easily? Ha… I am the powerful entity known as Nightmare… Moon… and I’ll be the one to take you down and save Equestria” Moon said through stutters of pain.

‘Just a little more time’ Nightmare thought to herself. She teleported behind Sombra and threw a punch that connected with his lower jaw. As she went to punch him a second time he grabbed her hoof. She punched at him with her free hoof but he caught that too then hammered her in the gut with a powerful knee.

He released her from his grasp the jumped in the air and slammed her with a powerful spin kick that sent her tumbling across the ground. She lay there in pain and was unable to get up. Sombra walked over to her and chuckled as he brought his hoof up to finish her off.

“Well… thanks for the warm up Moon” Sombra snickered but suddenly a powerful kick slammed across his jaw and set him crashing through several crystal walls. Moon looked up to Clare who was still in his regular state. “It’s… still… my turn…” she whispered in pain.

“Forget the whole turn thing… I’m not gonna let you die… besides I was just starting to like you” Clare said as he lowered his hand and transferred some of his energy to her. Though the alicorn earring supplemented her with power this entire battle, the power crystal of Sombra’s had zapped her energy faster than the earring could give. In the end it didn’t matter that Nightmare had him outmatched for the majority of the fight, Sombra had a pretty much infinite amount of energy while Nightmare was being drained of hers.

Nightmare stood up painfully. Clare had given her enough energy to walk and felt bad for not giving her more but he knew that he couldn’t really spare all that much energy because at the moment that stupid crystal would start sapping his energy.

Sombra floated forwards. “Oh please goddess… don’t tell me you plan to fight me like that” Sombra sneered. “No… trust me I have something very special in mind for you… I realized it while I was watching you fight with Nightmare and I think you’ll be surprised” Clare said as he stood to his full height.

Clare’s hair immediately transformed upwards in its spikey blue pattern as a powerful blue aura surrounded him. “This is my super form” Clare informed him. Sombra chuckled. Clare flexed and his muscles expanded slightly as his aura pushed out more jaggedly and electricity surrounded his body. “This is my ascended form, it’s what happens when I ascend past my super form” Clare informed him.

“What a useless transformation, so you changed your hair a little. Big deal” Sombra said. Clare smiled. “Just wait, you’re going to love this” Clare told him.

Twilight was focusing on the duel with her telepathy and showing the others what was happening on a magical screen. “Has he really found a way to ascend past his ascended form? Is that possible?” Celestia asked herself. “He must be bluffing… I mean what would that make him? Double ascended?” Rainbow Dash asked back.

“And this” Clare announced as he spread his stance and flexed. “Is to go even further beyond” he yelled as he began to dig deep inside for what he needed. His hair began to flutter about and electricity began to crackle at a more constant pace. The ground beneath him seemed to shake violently as he began to ascend. The vibrations from his power shook the ground like it was an earthquake

“Uhg… what’s he doin?” Applejack asked as Clare’s vibrations shook even the furthest reaches of Equestria. Clare continued to yell in anger as a powerful blue light surrounded his body. Sombra raised an eyebrow. “This should be interesting” he muttered to himself.

Elder watched over the battle with his own magic. “Oh yeah, that’s the stuff… lucky bastard… I wish I had those kinds of powers… then I’d get all the hot babes wanting my cock” he muttered to himself. “Lucky bastard”

Clare’s powerful aura became even more jagged as his muscles tensed and expanded by a few more inches. They became more toned and his overall power and strength continued to rise. Sombra’s jaw opened wide as he realized just how powerful Clare was becoming. Wind blew back his mane and he had to tense to keep himself from being blown away from the powerful force of his aura.

Wind, gusts of dust and debris blew out from under Clare. He continued to yell louder as his hair became more luminescent and holographic, like Luna’s mane, but it retained its shape and form rather than free flowing.

His spiked hair began to push outwards and it started to grow to considerable lengths. His power output was tremendous. Celestia gasped as she could sense his power even from the outskirts of Canterlot. “It’s… unreal… how is he generating that much energy” she gasped. “Yeah, do it Clare” Derpy said in her cute funny voice.

Rarity gasped as she too felt his energy surge. “Is… is that Clare? Wow, he’s really powerful” she commented. “It’s incredible… he’s even more powerful than Trixie and I put together, even when she had the alicorn amulet” Twilight mentioned.

Clare’s hair grew outwards, his spikey hair growing into longs stands that reached past his waist. The vibrations from him ascending shook Canterlot. Buildings that had been damaged in Danko and Clare’s ‘joyride’ collapsed to the ground. Several tall buildings shook and glass windows broke. Shattered glass fell to the streets below.

Prince Blueblood was hiding in his quarters. He had locked himself in his failsafe room when the changeling invasion had begun. His failsafe room shook and several items fell over: shelves, canned food and his television. “Ahhh what’s going on? Some-pony please… make it stop” he cried out, hoping that some-pony would hear his pleads.

Nightmare Moon looked up to Clare as he ascended and smiled. Zecora staggered as she tried to keep her footing. “It feels like the whole world is shaking apart… If Clare doesn’t hurry up than the whole world might be destroyed” she muttered. She too had been focusing on the battle through her cauldron.

Clare let out a tremendous roar and pushed himself over the top. A final blast of powerful wind energy shot out and the light surrounding him burst outwards, pushing Sombra away. Nightmare hid behind some crystals that started to crack from the sheer force of his energy output.

There was a loud explosion but nothing actually erupted and a bright light flashed throughout the entire cavern.

Clare floated effortlessly in the air and Sombra turned towards Clare then gawked in awe as he felt the tremendous output of power Clare had. Clare looked up to him, his hair was still spikey but it was more translucent and longer, a lot longer. His aura flashed almost straight outwards before going upwards. Electricity surrounded him and crackled about.

Clare’s muscles were toned and quite large. His hair gleamed even though no light shawn upon it. Clare smirked “I’m sorry that took so much longer than the others… but you have to understand that I haven’t had time to practice this one… This is what I call a super moon warrior… nah maybe I’ll call it super form three… eh fuck it, I’ll just call it something later” Clare muttered as he tried to think up a cool name for his final and most powerful form.

You know, now that this story is almost over, I look bac to the very beginning and think "Jeeze, who would've thought that a simple marine who somehow became romantically involved with Luna would be going Super Saiyan 3 and saving the universe... definately not what I had in mind when I first started this
