New Year's Resolution
Chapter 6: Waking Up
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"Alright Spike! I'll be back after I pick up some manuscripts from Cherilee! I'll be back in 20," yelled Twilight Sparkle.
"Alright Twilight, what should I do if-"
SLAM.
"Oh nevermind," sighed Spike.
I instantly awoken to the sudden sound of a door being closed shut. "Oh jeeze, what a wicked dream I've been having. Guess being inside all winter break has really been getting to my head," I thought to myself. "Good thing it's a nice day; probably go out and get some Vitamin D, eh?" I chuckled to myself over such a stupid statement. " I rubbed my eyes furiously to get used to the bright sun shining in the room. "Did I really forget to close my blinds that late at night?" I looked up and noticed that the room I was in was in fact not my bedroom, nor looked like any other kind of room I've ever been in.
"Where the hell am I? And what in the hell is that terrible taste in my mouth?" I licked the back of my hand and then smelled it. "Jesus Christ, it smells like a combination of horse and wet grass." I got up and opened the door to the room I was in. I peeked around the corner and saw nobody, so I proceeded to walk out and close the door quietly. I noticed that there was a plaque on the door that said 'Guest Room'. "Now who would want to kidnap somebody, then treat them humbly?"
Curiously looking around, I noticed that this architecture was nothing I've ever seen before. It almost looked like I was inside of a giant tree. And what confused me more was that there were tons of books everywhere! They were piles of papers laying in the middle of the hallway, and books crammed into every space on the wall. Something tugged at the back of my memory, but I shrugged it off and continued onward. Even more carefully, I made my way down the stairs slowly to make sure that whoever left me here is not home. Almost making it onto the final step, I stopped immediately to hear the humming of what sounded like a young boy, and the sizzling of food on a frying pan. Focusing hard on the source of humming and trying to make it down the final steps, I failed to pay attention to where I was putting my foot and slipped on a lone book on the staircase. I fell flat on the my face with a thwap and groaned loudly.
The humming stopped and I heard somebody swallow nervously.
"Twilight? Is that you?"
I heard footsteps approaching my location and desperately tried to find somewhere to hide. Knowing it was too late, I cracked my neck and got into a lame fighting position, preparing for the worst. Whatever came around the corner was as shocked and confused as I was. We both managed to make an 'uhh' sound as we both stared at each other for a few seconds.
"What are you?," I awkwardly asked it.
"I'm Spike. Now what the heck are you doing up? Nurse Redheart said that you wouldn't be conscious till the day after tomorrow?"
Ok, at that point I was starting to get a bit paranoid. "W-wait. What do you mean 'conscious'? Are you saying that you drugged me or something? DID YOU?"
"No no, you're getting the wrong idea here. You were in an accident, and hurt pretty badly. I don't know how or in what condition they found you, but all I heard was that it definitely wasn't normal, and you were near death."
"Well I'm going out to get some answers," I said with a determined face as I walked toward the door.
"Wait! Don't go out!," pleaded Spike.
"Why not?," I reasoned. "If there's anything I learned from history, it's if you want something done you do it yourself."
"Well, the pony you're looking for answers from is going to be back in roughly 15 minutes, she went out to get something from a friend of hers."
"Ok then. Fine."
A few minutes passed before I tried to strike up conversation to pass the time.
"This Twilight person."
"Pony."
"Yeah whatever. Pony. Is she nice?"
"Definitely! You know, if it wasn't for her, I probably wouldn't be who I am right now!"
"Really? Do explain."
"Well you see..." Spike then delved into the history of how he came to be. It started with how Twilight and her parents wanted her to join a school that specialized in magic for gifted kids, or colts or fillies. He explained how in order to get into that academy, and that there was a entry test that had to be taken in order to be accepted for enrollment. He went into vivid detail about how Twilight was cracking under the pressure of what this test meant to her and how it would significantly affect the rest of her life. She was failing at everything she attempted and the evaluators began to pay less and less attention to her efforts. Before she lost complete hope, a rainbow explosion occurred outside and Twilight suddenly gained a raw amount of magic, levitating her off the ground and hatching the dragon egg in front of her. Spike thus was born and due to all the raw magic, was instantly grown into an adult dragon, and smashed through the ceiling. Spike excitedly explained about how the princess found out about Twilight's burst of energy, and teleported into the room.
"And so Princess Celestia walked up to Twilight, and asked her if-"
"-she wanted to be her own apprentice," I finished.
Spike looked at me slack-jawed, and wondered the same thing I did: How the hell did I know the ending to what he was talking about? And why can't I remember?

Level 45 in BF3. Apparently I hit some sort of prestige for BF3, and my level # reset but now I have a new emblem. Anybody care to explain? Hit me up @ rageofhell45.
