The New Year has come, and thanks to some quick thinking from Twilight Sparkle, all life on Earth was not extinguished during the festivities. But now Equestria is gripped by the worst winter it has seen since the windigos were defeated, and the new sun is as weak and unsure as any newborn thing.
That would be bad enough, but Pinkie Pie has been visiting the Everfree Forest almost every day. Something seems to be brewing in the dark forest, and it isn’t the overly sweet coffee she brings to share during long chats with the plants she’s befriended.
Otherwise, life goes on much as normal. Twilight attends to the Daughter bank and visits her friends. But while she enjoys the small-town life, her Sisters are making moves. Even in the dead of winter, events are in motion, and the world continues to change.
Because unbeknownst to all of them, cold winds are rising in the northeast. So close to the dead ocean, something strange emerges, and Equestria finds itself facing a storm from right out of the history books.
And Twilight has two tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala and five friends she’d like to take. Scarce resources must be allocated. What is an economist going to do?!
This is a sequel to The Great Succession and Its Aftermath and is the first major story arc to pick up the events after My Little Economy. Please enjoy.
