This is a series of short stories following the events of My Little Economy. Trigger warnings for violence, sexual assault, and disturbing imagery. While the story does not contain gratuitous sexual imagery or violence, there are elements that are more upsetting than one might expect from My Little Pony fanfiction.
Equestria is saved. Twilight Sparkle and her friends heroically entered the Everfree Forest, faced down Nightmare Moon, and mastered the Elements of Equilibrium.
But the harsh economic downturn known as the Great Succession left a scar across the nation. To improve coordination and to minimize the possibility of future Nightmare Moon events, Princess Celestia divided some of the power of her One Bank among nine Daughter banks. Most of these are established in important cities across Equestria, and one has been put in Ponyville as well. And to manage these banks, she has assigned the graduates of the most recent cohort of economics students under her tutelage, nine mares who have grown so close and fought so much as to call themselves Sisters….
And this is not the only change happening. Princess Celestia has ruled as a sole and stable monarch for a thousand years. But now some forces see, or at least perceive, weakness in the One Bank, and they wonder if this first political transformation might not be the last.
Most ponies aren’t thinking about anything of the sort. Instead, they look forward to holidays of autumn and winter, and to a new year free of the nightmares of the past.
But even as things change, the past always seems to be with us. Indeed, life itself is nothing but a transformation of the energy the Sun has passed on to the Earth. The past is always sweeping into the present, and it is by staying one step ahead of this process that life gets to be part of the future and not only the past.
And so what can life do when the Sun itself is passing on…?
