Set seven years before the events of the fateful Summer Sun Celebration, life moves forward in quiet* Ponyville as it always has. Applejack wants a stallion to work on the farm. Rarity wants a stallion to work at Carousel Boutique. Rainbow Dash wants nothing to do with stallions at all. When a curious creature arrives in Ponyville, will any of them be able to get what they want?

* - Being next to the Everfree Forest means life in Ponyville is almost never actually quiet.

For Doug, however, unexpectedly arriving in a mystical new land brings its own set of challenges. How will he react and survive, much less thrive, in this strange new world? Will he be able to return home, much less want to?

Rated Mature for explicit sex scenes between human and pony, but not primarily a clop-fic. Chapters with said scenes will be marked with an *. Expect lots of slice of life and world building.

A rework, from the ground up, of AB: Year One. It will tie in to the remainder of the series, though minor points might not line up perfectly; it isn't married to any particular incident. If you read that series and the later installments you know where the story will end up, but the route to get there will be decidedly less smooth. If you read the previous version, let me know what you think about the changes; comments and suggestions are always welcome!
