Twilight was with Sunset, they frowned as they looked at the rainbow pools “These rainbows aren’t quite as impressive as the one in Equestria?”

A Pegasus frowned “They never heard the rumours did they.”

Another frowned “You mean about the Essence Machine and the Rainbow Factory.”

Twilight grimaced “I heard about something called the Pegasus Device but nothing about an Essence Machine explain!”

The tallest Pegasus there frowned “Some of us heard rumours that a machine was used in the Rainbow Factory, most of us who worked in the industry knew Pegasi would never send their foals to die so we all suspected that a machine used to steal the magic of Unicorns to created rainbows known as the Essence Machine it stole the magic from Unicorns when they died to create beautiful rainbows. Rumour had it that it was created by Starswirl the Bearded the only Unicorn that was respected by all pony races, it was deemed suspicious that Clover the Clever and Princess Platinum were murdered not long after they began an investigation into the matter. In fact all who oppose it end up dead, as the rumours state that even the Alicorns are not safe apparently as using essence they could make their own Alicorns as puppet rulers.”

Twilight laughed “Me and Sunset are safe because of a little secret ascended Alicorns are actually tougher than born ones as born Alicorns as they are born from the the blood of life are bound to a physical form while those who have ascended are like that of the original Alicorn Mystica as when we ascend we shed our physical forms becoming embodiments of an aspect mine is Harmony, Sunset’s was tricky to figure out but I did it’s Determination the unbreakable will to achieve in face of all odds.”

Twilight frowned “This begs the question who is responsible for this?”

Sunset frowned “Never mind that, we have to head to Equestria soon, the signing of the Harmony Accord between Equestria, Griffonia and our Friendship Kingdom is going to happen soon.” The two teleported back to Klugetown castle to prepare for the meeting.

Meanwhile in Ponyville Cloudy Days was in the hospital as ponies were doing an autopsy on the body, the doctor frowned “From what we have found someone killed this mare by stealing their magic out of them.”

Cloudy Days grimaced “Who could be behind this?”

The doctor, a pale white pegasi mare named Dr Mort sighed “This reminds of the tale of Rainbow Factory, if you intend to find out that should be were you should start?”

Little did she know that as she left to the Library a few Pegasi were watching her, Cloudy Days lead by Applejack who w as outside, she frowned “Are you sure this is a good idea, what if they come after you.”

Cloudy Days frowned as they entered the Library “So be it.” She smiled “Good thing about Libraries they keep lots of old newspaper clippings.”

Applejack and Cloudy Days began looking through newspaper clippings for hours and had gathered all the important ones on a board. Cloudy Day grimaced “So seventy years ago when Cloudsdale was hovering over Ponyville they reported that over twenty five dead unicorns fell from the sky for no apparent reason.”

Applejack frowned “Why wouldn't anypony launch an investigation on the matter if that was the case.”

Cloudy frowned as she grabbed a few other clippings “All who did ended up dead, in fact a few of the unicorns that fell were the investigators of the first killings.”

Applejack froze “What if they come after us, we are doing the same thing aren’t we.”

Cloudy sighed “Maybe but we must do something.”

Before either could speak a pony jumped through a closed window, Cloudy blinked as a Roseluck bleeding from her leg looked up at her with look of complete horror “Some strange ponies attacked me, they are coming for you as well!”

Cloudy grimaced “What do you…”

The door was knocked down as three ponies carrying swords wearing dark blue stealth suits grinned “I’m afraid we can’t let you investigate our efforts any further, it’s time to …”

All of sudden a loud maniacal laughter echoed through the room “So you Rainbow Factory Pegasi have decided to grace little old Ponyville with your presence, thanks to you I can roam free again even if it’s just for the moment.” The turned around to see a pink pony with a flat mane licking a bloodied knife “You’ll make some delicious cupcakes.”

Before the first one could even blink the knife pierced his neck, the second used this as an opportunity cleaving the pink’s mare’s head in half, much to everypony’s shock she pulled her head off the blade and turned around with her maddening smile as her head slowly stitched itself back together “Nice try.” She then headbutted the pony before sticking her knife between the ponies eyes, she then turned to the other pony throwing a spare knife into his throat.

Applejack whispered “Pinkie are you okay?”

Cloudy gasped not believing the mare in front of her to be the same party mare she knew, Pinkie? grinning maniacally “I’m not Pinkie I’m Pinkamena, Pinkie is watching. I have only one rule I’m only allowed to kill and eat really bad ponies like these guys. They breed and raise unicorns for the slaughter I mean how fucked up is that?”

She blinked as few Earth Ponies and one Unicorn picked up Roseluck, Pinkamena turned to their with her signature grin “Don’t worry they are taking her to the Hospital, in the meantime you two should take you research and come with me, it will be better than waiting for more of them to show up and kill you.” Applejack and Cloudy Days followed the crazy mare dragging two bodies behind her. They closed and locked the door behind them, as they wondered just what they had gotten themselves into.
