Rarity and Rainbow Dash stood in the middle of Times Square, the very heart of New York City.

“The buildings here are so huge!” said Rarity.

“I know,” said Dash.

The two talking ponies stood out like two alicorns in a crowd of earth ponies. Throughout the day they had received stares from the human inhabitants of the city. Almost all of them had been out of awe at the “magical” creatures.

“It’s the middle of the day. Don’t you think that we ought to get something to eat?
“Sure thing Rarity.”

According to my map, there is a four star restaurant nearby. It seems-”

“Come on Rarity. Let’s go out to a burger joint. The Americans are famous for those kind of places.”

“You do realize that in the human lands, burgers usually contain cow meat?”

Rainbow Dash’s face blushed with embarrassment. “Riiiight. I forgot all about that.”

While vegetarian burgers were widespread in Equestria (eating other animals was illegal), they were relatively rare in the human world. The thought that the humans walking around them had likely consumed flesh sent a shiver up their spines. However, the two ponies silently resolved not to think about that inconvenient truth and to instead try to enjoy their visit in New York.

Desperate to avoid the stuffiness of a high class restaurant and the mandatory formal attire, Rainbow Dash proposed a compromise. “How about we still go to ‘low-class restaurant’ and instead get a milkshake and a pair of fries. Consider it my treat!”

Rarity rolled her eyes. On one hand, she didn’t want to debase herself by eating such utterly low food fit only for commoners. On the other hand, she didn’t want to disappoint her friend. Deciding to humour Dashie, she said, “Fine. We’ll go out to a milkshake joint.”

“Awesome!” squaled Rainbow Dash.

“On the condition that you agree to dress up nicely when we go out to a fancy restaurant of my choosing.”

“Sounds like a deal!” said Rainbow Dash.
