Challenge of the Shadowbolts: Sweet Sweet Smallfoot
Chapter 4: After School
Previous Chapter Next ChapterAuthor's Notes:
Okay I'm saying this now. I usually don't make those kind of jokes like the uh... 'rack' joke, I did. Normally I try to refrain from that humor but honestly I couldn't resist so that's why I made it. I wanted to see if any of you would laugh, and some of you did. I don't expect everyone to, but that joke was an experiment to see your thoughts on it. So there probably might be some more... but I'm going to try and either spread them apart or do different varieties of jokes instead of just focusing on one. I'm sorry if that scares any of you away and I hope I don't. But I do hope you continue to stay and read to see what happens, I do actually plan on getting to some sweet fluffy fluff
But now that I look at it, I think I might have made the revelation here a bit too fast. But that's me, what do you think? This is my first time writing romance for real.
Sometime after school, the girls except for Sour Sweet left together to a hidden Guardian base in the city so they could find a much more private place to discuss a possible plan to cheer her up. Some of the Guardians were brought in on the plan as well, they too wanted to help out their friend. All they had to do was wait for Smallfoot to return.
As the group waited at their hidden base, Lemon Zest sat on a couch while talking with one of the Guardians.
"So let me get this straight, the term 'rack' can be used for inappropriately talking about a woman's... bosom?"
Lemon nodded with a silly grin as she tried not to snicker.
"Okay...", the Guardian replied. He wasn't sure how to respond to that.
"You are just full of innuendos today, aren't you?" Sugarcoat said shaking her head.
"Yep!" Lemon said. "In fact, I just thought of one right now! You think Sour will want to--"
"Not there please!" Indigo cried. "I'm all for laughing at some of those jokes, but some of them are just too far. I think its weird enough we're trying to help a truck make a girl happy, lets keep the weirdness down a notch, okay?"
Lemon giggled, "Okay, okay I'll stop."
"Thank you," Sunny replied.
"No I won't!"
The three girls groaned.
"I wonder what else she's got in store for her," Sugarcoat said.
Just at that moment, the garage door began to slide up and fold up to the top of the roof. And driving on through the garage entering into the base was a red truck with a pair of lights on the top, and a grill guard on the front. The truck pulled itself a little closer, and it sat there until the back of the garage door closed.
Once the door was closed, the truck began to convert, revealing Smallfoot once again.
"Sorry I'm late girls. It took a bit of lying and trying to keep Sour from following after me. You don't know how much I hate lying to her," Smallfoot replied.
"Well at least you're doing it for a cause to help make her better," Sugarcoat said.
"By lying to her face?" Smallfoot snapped.
"Well what did you tell her?" Indigo asked.
"I said I'd be going on an extended patrol for Renegades," Smallfoot replied.
"I'd believe that in a Manehattan minute," Sugarcoat said.
"Me too," Sunny Flare replied.
Smallfoot stood for a moment and sighed, "Lets just get to what we came here for."
"Remind me again, what it is you're trying to do?" Wrong Way asked.
"I want to help make Sour happy again by finding a way to get her a romantic partner, but I'm not sure how I can do that. That's why we came here," Smallfoot replied.
The Guardians all let out understanding murmurs. Now the picture was clear as to what was going on.
"But how are we going to do that?" Pathfinder said.
"Its not you that has to worry about that, its me. I'm the one that's trying to make her better but... I don't know how," Smallfoot sighed. "Anyone have suggestions for how to make her happy, without being inappropriate?"
Everyone scratched their chins and stood silent, what could they do? What could she do that would be appropriate, and not too far? As they kept on thinking, Smallfoot walked over to the side and opened up an oil can and peeled the top off. As she began taking a sip, Lemon spoke up again.
"How about you let Sour... touch your rack?" Lemon giggled.
Smallfoot's eyes widened as she almost choked on her drink. Turning her head, she launched a big spit of oil against the garage door, and coughed for a bit. Once she felt her lungs opening again, she turned and looked at Lemon with a glare and death eyes. Lemon just chuckled slightly as she drooped down in her seat. Smallfoot took a moment to breathe in, and then breathed out. It took every ounce of energy and servo to not scream.
"Lemon... you're not being helpful," Smallfoot said calmly.
"Sorry, sorry...", Lemon replied.
"Lets actually think here, can we?" Smallfoot asked.
The girls scratched their chins, and Sunny Flare began pacing back and forth as she thought. What could they do? Sunny Flare stopped for a moment and snapped her fingers.
"What if we signed her up for online dating?"
Lemon shook her head, "Remember the last time she signed up for online dating? She said she'd never do it again after her date with that one guy that she found a total idiot."
Sunny paused for a moment and her hand drooped to her side.
"Well, that option's out the window," Sugarcoat said.
Lemon scratched her chin, "What if we lock her in a room with another girl?"
"Not gonna work. She can work her way out of any locked room and I doubt she'd talk to anyone if she was forced to talk to that someone," Sugarcoat said.
"Yeah...," Smallfoot said groaning. "Okay, well what I can I do? I want to make her happy, but I don't know what to do!"
Smallfoot slammed her back against the wall, and she slid down onto the ground, landing on her behind.
"Why do you want to make Sour happy? I understand you not wanting to see her upset, but it seems like you're kind of, obsessed with her. Actually not kind of, you seem very obsessed with her," Sunny Flare replied.
Smallfoot slowly turned her head to look at Sunny Flare and sighed.
"I suppose I am a little obsessed. But its only because I want to make her happy. I just want to see her smile again, I want to hold her hand as we walk along the sunny beaches, hold her while we stare off into the stars... letting her know I'm always there for her..."
Sunny crossed her arms and looked at Smallfoot with a smug grin. Smallfoot just revealed something that Sunny didn't expect, but she found it quite... interesting.
Smallfoot looked back down at the rest of the girls who were all giving smug grins to the big Gobot. Smallfoot stared at them back.
"Um... what are you staring at?"
Sunny raised a brow, "Smallfoot. Do you like Sour?"
"Uh...", Smallfoot said, "Well, of course I do. Why wouldn't I?"
Sunny put her hands on her hips, still holding that smug look on her face. "Smallfoot. Do you like Sour? And by like, I mean as in like like her?"
"Um, I uh, oh, uh...", Smallfoot stammered. She didn't even notice it but she was blushing and she was rubbing the back of her head.
Lemon squealed in joy, "I knew it! You love her, you love her, you love her!"
"Lemon!" Smallfoot yelled.
Lemon halted and froze when Smallfoot yelled. But the others weren't fazed by her yelling, they could see it coming a mile away. Once Lemon was silent again, the girls looked back at Smallfoot.
"You sly dog, I didn't know you had it in you," Indigo said, bumping Smallfoot's arm with her elbow with a cat grin on her face. Smallfoot just blushed all the way more.
"How come you never said anything about that before?" Sugarcoat said.
"Smallfoot did talk about this before, but only with us," The Guardian Flip Top said, interrupting them.
"But why only them?" Sunny asked.
"We Guardians are friends, a family. We protect each others secrets, and we say nothing about them to anyone else unless that person says we can or do," Pathfinder replied. "And as you all now know, Smallfoot is not really on the straight side."
Smallfoot blushed some more. Why were they talking about this?
"Its true. In my past, the only people, and bots for that matter that I've dated were girls. I honestly thought they would hate me for it, but, they don't," Smallfoot said.
"But how come you never told us this?" Indigo asked.
"Because I don't know everything on how you think. And besides, I know there are some races out there that kind of... look down, on bots and humans like me...", Smallfoot sinked her face into her arms.
She waited for a reply, but felt a warm hand patting her knee. She raised her head up so her eyes were looking and she saw a smile come on Sunny Flare's face.
"You don't need to be ashamed dearie. Its quite alright, its what makes you who you are," Sunny Flare said.
A glimmer of hope came to light in Smallfoot's soul, and she gave a small smile in return.
"Thanks Sunny."
Sunny nodded with a friendly smile in return. But before she could reply, Sugarcoat interrupted.
"While this is only an interesting turn of events, I think an explanation is due for why you like Sour," Sugarcoat said, crossing her arms.
Smallfoot's eyes widened a bit, "Oh, that, uh..."
"You don't have to worry dearie, you're secret is safe with us. Our lips are sealed," Sunny Flare replied.
Smallfoot wanted to believe her, but just knowing that some of them weren't so quiet about things was hard to believe. Knowing that Lemon was a bit of a blabbermouth, Indigo could barely keep any secret because it was so obvious to pluck one out of her, and Sugarcoat is brutally honest with everyone so how could she keep a secret?
"I don't know, just knowing all of you and from what I've seen with you guys...", Smallfoot droned.
"I promise to keep this only with just the people in this room, along with the Guardians," Sugarcoat interrupted.
"Me too big rig," Indigo replied.
Lemon didn't say anything, but instead a giggle formed on her face. Smallfoot glared.
"Lemon..."
"Okay, okay. I promise," Lemon said.
Smallfoot sighed, "Very well then. I guess I should tell you why. Remember the Friendship Games?"
The girls nodded.
"Well, when we were standing around at CHS, during the party, that's when I first saw Sour. I didn't know what to think at first but when I saw her she was just... beautiful. The way her hair is colored like cherries, the streak of cyan in her hair looks like fresh mint, and her eyes... her own eyes sparkle like the stars in the night..." Smallfoot sighed.
Sunny giggled, "Sounds like you've been keeping your eye on her for quite a while."
Smallfoot nodded. "But it wasn't just there. When I talked with her in the hallway the night before the games actually started, I felt like... well, for the first time in my life I was happy. She understood me, she respected me for who I was, someone who appreciated my own talents and my skill, and she wasn't mean to me about what happened to Gobotron. I thought from there maybe I could possibly ask her out but... I wasn't sure how she'd feel. I already am a mess as it is, I... I didn't need to make things awkward between us if I asked her out."
Sunny nodded, signaling her understanding of what Smallfoot said.
"So... you really like her?" Sunny asked.
Smallfoot nodded.
"You really want to be in a romantic relationship with her?"
Smallfoot nodded again.
"And you want to make her happy?" Sugarcoat asked instead.
"I do, very much. You don't know how much I want to make her happy," Smallfoot said.
Sugarcoat's face continued to express no emotion. But a smile slowly creeped up on her face.
"I think I can help you," Sugarcoat said.
"Me too," Indigo replied.
"You have my support Smallfoot," Sunny Flare replied.
Smallfoot turned her head to look at Lemon Zest who kept a grin, "You going to help?"
Lemon nodded, "I'll totally help you out dude."
Smallfoot smiled, "Thanks girls. I really appreciate it."
"And we'll help you out too Smallfoot," Sparky interrupted, standing behind the girls. A few other Guardians spoke up too, all of them saying their agreements in lending a hand.
Smallfoot nodded, "Thanks but, what help can you guys give?"
Good Knight raised a finger, "We can make sure no Renegades or fugitives interrupt nor hurt you on your date. We'll make sure they stay out of your way, and out of sight."
Smallfoot gave a smile to the British Guardian, "Thanks. I appreciate it. But how am I going to ask her out? She probably wouldn't want to be seen with an 8 ft robot. Especially one that looks like me."
"Maybe we can go visit Professor Von Joy. I'm sure he can lend a hand," Street Heat said.
"You sure he can help?" Smallfoot asked.
"Come on, we could use any help we can get," Sunny spoke up.
Smallfoot's eyes darted from side to side, contemplating the idea. It didn't sound like it'd be a good idea bringing in another bot, but the Professor did many great things for the Guardians. Maybe he could help them with this situation.
"I suppose we can go visit him. But he's on the other side of Canterlot City," Smallfoot said pointing to the door.
"That's not a problem for you is it big rig?" Indigo asked.
"No, its not. And I'm not a big rig," Smallfoot said, "Come on Guardians, lets go."
Smallfoot turned around and walked towards the garage door and pulled the crank to open the door to let them leave. Smallfoot converted into truck form, and the rest of the Guardians began to convert as well. Arms folded up, heads tucked into place, and feet slammed together connecting as one single piece.
Lemon stared at the back of Smallfoot, eyes gazing towards the gleaming chrome bumper on the back of her truck form and giggled.
"Nice bumper," Lemon giggled.
"Really?" Smalfoot groaned.
"Sorry, sorry. I'll try to stop. Now lets go get some help so you can give Sour... the 'ride' of her life," Lemon snickered.
"You're such a child Lemon!"
"You're gonna let her ride you?" Lemon said bursting out laughing.
Smallfoot didn't respond this time, but instead her tires swerved and skidded along the ground as she sped out of the garage door and into the street sliding against the road, creating some more skidmarks into the road. Lemon freaked when she saw how violent she went going into the street.
"Lemon, there's a time to joke, and then there's the time to be serious. That wasn't the time to make jokes," Sunny sternly said.
"Oh come on it was funny!" Lemon protested.
"No, it wasn't," Sugarcoat said as she passed on by Lemon's red face. This was going to be a long day...
