Chapter 33: Dark Yo-kai (Part 3)

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

The Dark Yo-kai attacked Twilight and her friends from every corner. Leaping and pouncing on her, darting in every direction imaginable, the Dark Yo-kai moved far faster than they had anticipated. They used elements like fire, water, ice, electricity, and more, shrouded with black energy, as if the very elements themselves had been consumed by darkness as well.

"Just how many of these things are there?!" Twilight asked as she used her magic to block more of the Dark Yo-kai's attacks.

"I don't know!" Whisper used martial arts moves to guard against the other Yo-kai's attacks. "I never expected this many Dark Yo-kai in one place!"

"Looks like our know-nothing friend really is thicker than a brick, Gin," Kin chuckled. "Shall we destroy these fools now while we have the chance?"

"I think not, actually." Gin shook her head. "I quite enjoy seeing Twilight Sparkle and her friends crying like babies. King Void's goal is clear: Make Princess Twilight cry and suffer by any means necessary." She interlocked her fingers and grew her grin wider. "And I'd say that we're doing his job quite well as we are, Kin."

As Twilight and her friends battled against the Dark Yo-kai, they all emanated a black mist. They didn't even see it as it floated higher and higher into the air and over towards Kin and Gin. The mist flew into their hands, which prompted them to put the tips of their fingers together, creating a small black hole. The mist flew into the hole and disappeared as their hands dropped back down to their sides.

"It's so fun to toy with their emotions and break their hearts, isn't it?" Kin said. "No matter how hard she fights, the Dark Yo-kai are infinite. They cannot be destroyed nor befriended. Even that weak little Sailornyan we nabbed can't be brought back to her senses. She will remain a Dark Yo-kai forever!"

"We'll blanket the world in darkness, and all that those prissy little mares can do is watch!" Gin exclaimed.

"Ngghh! Twilight! It's too much! Even for me!" Starlight Glimmer began to strain against the Dark Yo-kai. Despite her advance in spellcasting, Starlight was being heavily overpowered by the army of black creatures. "Just get out of here!"

"No way! We're not going out like this!" Twilight shot back, using her magic to teleport out of the way of another attack. "If we're going to die, then we'll die together! I don't want any of us to lose our friends!"

"Twilight! Darling! There are clearly far too many of these black monsters!" Rarity ducked and weaved under more Dark Yo-kai. "We need to get out of here! Ponyville is lost! The Magic of Friendship is doing nothing against these brutes!"

"Even I'm gonna admit it! We're doomed!" Pinkie Pie called out, firing her Party Cannon right in the Dark Yo-kai's face. It merely pushed them back a few inches. "Not even my Party Cannon's taking them out!"

"C'mon, guys..." Twilight looked at her Yo-kai team battling against the Dark Yo-kai. "You're all I've got left. You've gotta win!"

"PAWS OF FURY!" Jibanyan jabbed at as many Dark Yo-kai as he could lay his paws on. He did take many of them down this way, but they hastily regenerated when Kin and Gin launched black lightning down upon them. "It's nyot working! There's too many of them!"

"We can't let them pin us down! Fight harder! Faster! Stronger!" Twilight called out to her team. "Don't lose to a bunch of shadows!"

"Yeah! Feel the burn!" Sgt. Burly rammed through a number of Dark Yo-kai before he was pile-drived by more. "Don't... let yourselves... get beat up by these punks!"

"If Kin and Gin think we're weak, then they've got another thing coming!" Twilight teleported out of the battle and flew towards the two of them firing magical bolts at them.

"Hah!" Kin flew towards Twilight herself, gliding underneath the magical attacks. She somersaulted over her and kicked her in the back, sending the pony crashing down to the earth and through the dirt road. "Twilight Sparkle is weak. She always has been and always will be."

"Nice strike, Kin!" Gin charged towards the rest of Twilight's friends. "Now, let's give her something to really scream about..." She made a claw out of her left hand and conjured black lightning down on the group of ponies, blasting them into the air.

"Bacteria Barrage!" Count Cavity fired at the Dark Yo-kai and hastily flew to rescue the ponies. One by one, he caught the non-pegasus ponies and put them back down on the ground.

"Thank you, but we're not done yet." Applejack wiped the sweat off of her brow and pointed towards the Dark Yo-kai advancing. "We've still got plenty of those black monsters on their way."

"Oh, what's the point?! There's far too many!" Fluttershy whined as they were all surrounded by the Dark Yo-kai once again. "It's all over!"

All that they could do was watch as the Yo-kai once more resumed their battle with the Dark Yo-kai. Their weapons collided with the black claws and teeth once again, and they were being pushed back even harder this time.

"How sad." Kin fired black hooks into the ground, pulling Twilight out again. She threw her into her friends, knocking them all onto their backs and sides. "I was hoping that the so-called Princess of Friendship would've been able to defeat these Dark Yo-kai, but alas, I was wrong."

"No need to get yourself worried, Kin." Gin put her hand on her sister's shoulder. "The lives of a technicolour horse and her baby-appealing friends are of no concern to us. King Void will be able to effortlessly claim the other two worlds with Twilight Sparkle out of the picture."

"I suppose you're right." Kin sighed and weaved black energy between her fingers. "Shall we finish up here then, Gin?"

"I wouldn't have it any other way, Kin." Gin smirked and did the same.

"I can't look!" Whisper put his hands in front of his eyes as Kin and Gin took in dark energy. There was so much being absorbed in that short window of time that an earthquake began to rock Equestria, with pebbles being flung all over the place.

"Is this really the end?" Red Snow looked at Kin and Gin, charging up their final attack.

"It looks that way, Red Snow." Starlight coughed as she and the others were being smothered by the Dark Yo-kai. "But at least we got to know each other in the time that we had..."

The ponies all closed their eyes as the Dark Yo-kai wrapped themselves around the ponies, trapping them inside of a black dome with purple twinkles gleaming on the sides.

"OCTO SNAKE!"

"INFERNO!"

Venoct and Kyubi dived into Kin and Gin's heads, burying them into the ground and stopping them from charging energy. Venoct's dragon scarf stretched out and began biting into the Dark Yo-kai rapidly while Kyubi conjured a massive fireball in her hands and tossed it towards the dome.

"Huh?" Twilight was to cover her eyes as the sunlight pounded down onto her eyes. Her vision was blurred, but she could still make out the Yo-kai that had saved them. "H-Hey... It's you!"

"You were expecting someone else?" Venoct quietly huffed and crossed his arms.

"No way..." Red Snow slowly stood back on her four hooves and looked at the Yo-kai that had saved them. "Of all of the Yo-kai I've met, I never thought that I would run into the two of you."

"Greetings. I'm sure you're glad that we saved you, but don't be." Kyubi reached down and pulled Gin out of where she had been buried. "We've still got a bunch of old ladies to send back to their retirement home." She lit her hand on fire and slapped Gin across the face multiple times.

"I am not old!" Gin pouted as she took each and every one of Kyubi's slaps. "I'll have you know that I'm much younger than Kin is!"

"All of you King Void scum are just the same." Venoct unearthed Kin and had Orochi bared at her throat. "Shall we send you screaming back to Dame Dedtime? Or would you rather stand up and die fighting?"

"Can someone please explain to me what in the world's going on?!" Rainbow Dash threw her hooves out in front of her. "Who in the heck are you?"

"I can explain it for you." Red Snow stepped forward and brushed some hair out of her face. "Japonese folklore tells of some incredible feats. The fall of emperors; the slaying of demons; the rise of influential and pure-heart emperors and empresses that re-shaped the world as we know it," she waved her hooves in lyrical movements as she lit up her horn, causing lotus blossom petals to fall around her. "But most of all, the greatest Japonese stories are the ones of the Yo-kai—beasts of legend, invisible to the naked eye."

"Get to the point!" Rainbow Dash called out. "There's no time for some Japonese cultural show!"

"Patience, Rainbow Dash." Twilight put her hoof in front of Rainbow's mouth, silencing the pegasus instantly. "Red Snow wants to speak. It would be rude to interrupt."

"Among the Yo-kai, there is one such legend. That of the nine-tailed fox." Red Snow jabbed a hoof at Kyubi. "Wise, sly, and very, very rare, it is a Yo-kai beyond comprehension. The symbol of Amareterasu, the sun goddess of our home, this Yo-kai goes by one name and one name only." She stopped, causing the petals to vanish. "That name... is Kyubi!"

"Kyubi?" Everyone else chorused as they watched Kyubi stomp Gin back into the dirt.

"I was going to wait until later to tell you my name, but I suppose now is as good a time as any." She walked up to Twilight and her friends and kneeled before them. "I am Kyubi, a Yo-kai entrusted by the queen of the Yo-kai World to watch over you, Twilight Sparkle."

"Me?" Twilight put her other hoof to her chin. "But why?"

"The queen's world has been besieged by these Dark Yo-kai already. With the world in chaos, we need all of the allies that we can get." Venoct allowed Orochi to bite into Kin's body and shake her around like a dog's chew toy as he approached her. "She has already revealed her name. So shall I." He clicked his fingers, causing Orochi to drop Kin, enabling him to kick the elder's back and throw her towards Gin. "My name is Venoct. A noble Yo-kai of unparallelled speed, power, and precision. My dragon scarf, Orochi has slain countless enemies, and shall slay any more that dare to threaten the peace of our three worlds."

"Well then it had better be extra hungry!" Kin flew out of the hole and cracked her knuckles. "King Void's will is absolute, and no measly S Rank Yo-kai will stop him!"

"No matter how many allies you band together, it will all be in vain!" Gin hovered out of the ground as well with some of hair still on fire from Kyubi's attacks. "King Void cannot be stopped!"

All of a sudden, a black lightning bolt crashed down on Equestria, causing a giant storm cloud to appear and cover up the sun entirely. A roar could be heard over the sound of the thunder. It was so loud that every glass in Equestria was shattered intro quadrillions of tiny shards.

"Speak of the devil..." Kin smirked.

A massive Yo-kai appeared before Twilight Sparkle and her friends. He was wearing a black robe with an archaic logo on the back. It depicted two spiky swords cutting a figure's head clean off with blood spilling from the neck. He was also wearing black gloves and shoes, carried a sword that was slightly longer than himself, and had black rocks poking out of his chest and stomach. His head had horns on it and his teeth were curled, with his black eyes blazing like fire.

"Twilight Sparkle," he said, the distortion in his voice clear. He sounded like a demon from Tartarus.

"Who are you?" Twilight replied, frozen in place at the sight of the black Yo-kai.

"All hail King Void!" Kin and Gin floated down onto their knees and bowed before him. "The destroyer of light and devourer of hope!"

"That's King Void?!" The Main Six, Starlight, and Red Snow all chimed in sync as they looked at him.

King Void merely smiled and lowered his brows, flashing the girls his sharpened teeth. He pulled the sword out of the ground and brandished it before Twilight Sparkle and her friends.
