Chapter 15: Mine, Mine, Mine!/But I D'wanna Do That!

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

Starlight Glimmer, Twilight, Spike, Whisper, and Red Snow were all walking together in the streets of Ponyville. Together, the five of them were going off to help out the ponies of the town in any way that they could think of. Even if it was just the smallest and most meaningless task, they would all take it on and make Ponyville a happier place.

"You know, I've never seen a pony from Japony before." Starlight looked over and smiled at Red Snow. "How much different is it over there? Do you have some unique spells? What's the cultures there?"

"Funny thing, actually. Twilight was just as excited to meet me as you are, Starlight." Red Snow chuckled, using her hoof to hide her mouth. "Japony is a rich and cultural land with many different beliefs to that of the ones in Equestria. It's always courteous to bow to others whenever you greet each other, are going to serve, or just for general thanks."

"But you should always bow a little less to the pony who did, though." Twilight nodded. "Red Snow told me that the person who bows the most is the servant to the person who wants to be served, and that to make sure that you're not serving the servant, you should bow a little less."

"Odd, I know. But Japony does have some incredible things that Equestria has most likely never seen before," Red said. "Such technology like robots, automated vehicles, and even things such as television exist in our home."

"Television?" Spike raised a brow. "What in the heck's that?"

"So many questions, so little time." Red Snow stepped forward and let another giggle fly. "But it is to be expected, after all. This is probably the first time Ponyville has had a Japonese pony come to visit them. The cultural exchanges can take a bit of getting used to, after all."

"Indeed." Whisper nodded and flew in front of the mares. "The Yo-kai World also has its' own fair share of cultures that not many mortals know of. The tribe bases, the world underneath the bridges, the Oni protecting the rulers! It's all so vast that if you tried to drink it all in, you'd probably need the restroom for a few weeks."

"I highly doubt that the Yo-kai World's made of water, Whisper," Starlight deadpanned at Whisper's joke, causing Twilight and Spike to laugh.

"What? Is my humour not rib-tickling enough for you?" Whisper flew up to Twilight with his left eye opened wide.

"Stick to your day job, Whisper, and leave the jokes to the real comedians." Twilight was still laughing as she spoke to him.

"Hmph! Everyone's a critic..." Whisper grumbled and folded his arms.

"Either that or your sense of humour needs adjusting." Starlight smirked, causing more laughter to erupt from Twilight and Spike. Not even Red Snow could hide it as she too began to laugh.

"Anyway. Going back to Japony. You should come there sometime, everyone." Red Snow gave them all another gentle bow. "We have quite a vast array of tourists stops, entertainment plazas, Japonese kabuki shows, and even a great deal of food."

"I really wanna try out ramen sometime." Twilight's smile widened.

"Ramen?" Spike once more opened his eye wider.

"Yeah, Spike. Ramen. It's like this soupy meal with noodles and cream and vegtables. It all sounds so delicious!" Twilight gushed at the thought of a ramen bowl. "The way the soup slithers down your throat and hits your chest, added to the way that the food just melts in your mouth. Ooh! It's all so good!"

"You know, a real ramen bowl also comes with meat, but since you ponies are all probably vegetarian, you would rather just stick to eating vegetables in place of meat." Whisper looked around at the other ponies in the town. "An interesting take, I must say. I've never seen a vegetable ramen dish before. It's always been pork, miso or even everything ramen where I've been."

Suddenly, a loud crash came from the nearby stall, and Applejack was seen stealing whatever she could lay her hands on. Food, vegetables, antiques, toys, everything that she saw, she wanted and put in her saddlebags.

"Stop! Thief!" One of the vendors chased after Applejack with a few other ponies behind her. "She's stealing my stock!"

"Applejack? Stealing?" Twilight watched the whole scenario unfold before her eyes.

"Peckpocket must be at work here." Red Snow's eyebrows lowered as she readied her Yo-Kai Watch and medal.

"Peckpocket?" Twilight, Starlight, and Spike all chorused together.

"Peckpocket is a Yo-kai that can turn whoever she inspirits into a kleptomaniac." Whisper showed Twilight a picture of a flabby purple penguin with a large belly and a yellow feather sticking out of its' head. "Whatever she can lay her mits on, she'll take, regardless of where she is. And whoever she has a hold on will do the same, acting like her partner in crime."

"Then let's get going!" Twilight watched Spike get onto her back. "C'mon, everyone! Let's stop that Yo-kai!"

"That's the spirit, Twilight!" Whisper pointed towards Applejack! "Catch that bird and free Applejack from its' power!"

Twilight took a running start and flew high into the air, with Spike on her back, and Starlight Glimmer and Red Snow running back down on the ground below.

Applejack ran up the hill towards Sweet Apple Acres with a mob of angry salesponies behind her. Her breath was heavy, her forehead was sweaty, and her saddlebag loot was weighing her down and hindering her progress up the incline. But even so, she pushed on and gritted her teeth, making it up the hill at a steady pace.

Twilight Sparkle soared overhead, getting a good view of the chase. She could clearly make out Applejack and the other ponies behind her as she calculated the trajectory at which she should descend to run right into Applejack and end the chase. With Starlight Glimmer and Red Snow behind the crowd, she looked back at Spike and nodded.

"Hold on, Spike. We're going down!" Twilight began to arch her body downwards and pick up speed, just as Spike had time to react. He heard the dragon yelp as he grabbed onto her neck, and she began to pick up speed.

"This stuff's all mine! Mine! Mine! Mi—" before Applejack could even finish, Twilight crashed into her and sprawled her body all across the ground, causing all of the stuff that she had stolen to spill out onto the ground, making it collect dirt and get battered by the crash.

The running ponies quickly took their stock and ran back to their stalls while Applejack was suffering from the impact. They soon dispersed, allowing Red Snow and Starlight to come closer and examine the situation.

"What the heck, Twilight?!" Applejack growled and got to her feet. "I was just gathering some stuff for little Applebloom!"

"No. You were stealing, and you're just trying to deny it." Twilight flipped up the Yo-Kai Watch and pointed it at Applejack's back, making the twelve segments light up in rhythm. "Come on, Peckpocket! I know you're there!"

Peckpocket was revealed and hopped off of Twilight's back. "Darn. Caught again. But I'm gonna tell you this up close and personal." Peckpocket got up in Twilight's face, causing her to stumble backwards. "If you think I'm going to the slammer, think again! Let's fight!"

"A fight?" Whisper looked at Peckpocket's face. The lines on her forehead were curved, her feathers were balled up, and her teeth were gritted. "Well, looks like we have no choice, Twilight. It's the only way that she'll stop causing other ponies to steal stuff."

"If it'll make you stop wanting to steal stuff, then that's fine by me!" Twilight pulled out her Yo-kai Medal. "Come on out, my Yo-kai friend! Calling Roughraff!" She threw the medal into the air. "Yo-kai Medal! Do your thing!" And with that, she shoved it into the slot.

"SUMMONING: TOUGH!" The watch said, making the orange beams form Roughraff.

Gruff stuff!
Rough bluff!
Red ban, jacket stand, bling blang, Tough!

"Roughraff!" he slammed the ground with his fist and looked at his opponent.

"Roughraff?" Peckpocket's eyes went wide at her opponent. Shortly afterwards, she contorted a smile. "Oh, why didn't you tell me you had him with you, puddin'?"

"Sup, Pecks? It's been a while." Roughraff gave her a smile of his own. "How are you? Still stealing whatever you can get? Nice."

"You two are friends?!" Twilight's jaw dropped at how Roughraff and Peckpocket were communicating.

"Funny story about that, really." Whisper tipped his hand. "You see, Nate's home town was hit by one of these things too, and when Roughraff was called out to fight it, they just ended up in some kind of pickpocketing contest instead of actual hand-to-hand combat. The two have been friends ever since."

"Nate?" Twilight tilted her head sideways.

"Just the name of a human boy I happened to know a while back." Whisper nodded. "I do wonder how he's doing these days..."

"These Yo-kai are simply fascinating." Red Snow once more pulled out her diary and began to write down the relationship between Peckpocket and Roughraff. "Yo-kai from different tribes becoming best friends with one another? How wonderful."

"Roughraff and Peckpocket as friends?" Spike looked through the lens of Twilight's Yo-Kai Watch and almost jumped off of her back at the sight. "Whoa! I've never seen anything like that in my life!"

"Meeting Yo-kai does seem to come as a shock to most people." Red Snow walked over to Spike and stroked his scales. "Especially for ponies who've never been to Japony in their lives."

"That's saying a lot, Red Snow." Spike still kept his eye on the Yo-kai as he spoke to Red. "Considering that I've seen many different monsters and creatures here in Equestria, that is."

"And had to see me try to alter time too," Starlight added.

"Now, Yo-kai I've seen altering time before, but never a pony." Whisper looked over at Starlight. "Tell me, Miss Glimmer. Was it all really worth it in the end?"

"Not really." Starlight sighed and hung her head. "I don't know what went through my mind back then. I was a fool. A stupid, ignorant, mindless, and arrogant fool of a pony. I let my emotions get the better of me, and I couldn't bear the thought of being defeated, so I tried to correct my defeat, with cataclysmic results on the future."

"Time travel is NEVER the answer, Starlight." Whisper shook his head. "Kin and Gin learned that the hard way when they were last defeated by the Yo-kai."

"They're a couple of old ladies who perform rituals with some kind of giant clock." Twilight looked over at Starlight. "Capable of commanding little creatures known as the Kaima and being subservient to an evil Yo-kai known as Dame Dedtime, they often manipulate the timestream for their own nefarious purposes."

"We still don't know what happened to them, though." Whisper scratched his chin. "Because Yo-kai don't completely die off unless they suffer extensive damage or die from old age. They simply return to the Yo-kai World to regenerate when they're felled. Which is the least I can say for Ubaune and Mckraken..."

"What could they be planning, then?" Red Snow glanced at Whisper with her head turned to the side. "Will they strike again? And if so, who or what could suffer from their meddling with the timeline?"

"Hard to say, really," said Whisper. "Right now, my thoughts are still stuck on that king that Felycan mentioned in her dying breath."

"Could you stop thinking about it for just one day, Whisper?" Twilight gave Whisper an apprehensive look. "I'm already as confused enough as it is. I don't really need more pressure for the time being."

Peckpocket and Roughraff came up to Twilight holding hands with each other. They both cleared their throats together and snapped the ponies out of their trains of thought.

"Twilight. I had no idea that you and Roughraff were such pals." Peckpocket gave Roughraff a pat on the back. "You must be a real bad pony for making friends with him. I like that."

"Uhh... thanks?" Twilight meekly smiled.

"Don't be modest, dear. I love it when there are ponies who love breaking the rules and taking what they like." Peckpocket reached into her feathers and pulled out a Yo-kai Medal. "Here, doll. You'll need this." She put it in Twilight's hoof. "That's the one thing I'll give out. If you need something real bad but can't afford it, just call me, and I'll be there in a jiffy. After all, what's mine is yours, and what's yours is mine. Mine, all mine!" She then vanished.

"Take care of her, K, Twilight?" Roughraff stepped forward. "Pecks is a great gal, really. It'd make me mad to see her hurt." He disappeared as well.

"Still not gonna get used to that." Twilight rolled her eyes and shrugged as she retrived Roughraff's medal from the watch and put both of them in the medallium.

"Trust me, Twilight Sparkle. You've only scratched the surface of the Yo-kai species." Whisper looked down at the empty slots in the medallium. "Just wait until you get up to the higher ranking Yo-kai. You're in for quite a few treats, tricks, scares, and even some weird and awkward moments..."

"Like they haven't been weird and awkward already..." Spike shrugged as Twilight closed the watch's lens.

"If you think that was weird, you haven't seen anything yet. Quite literally." Whisper let out a chuckle of his own and was met with silence from the others. "What?"

"Still gotta work on that humour, Whisper." Twilight gave him a coy smile.

"Harumph!" Whisper once again folded his arms and turned away, causing the others to laugh once again.

"Pinkie Pie, please." Rarity was in Pinkie Pie's room with the rest of the girls. Pinkie was slumped in the bed and she was tightly holding onto the sheets as Rarity tried to pry them away. "I know that you don't like doing chores, but could you just get out of bed for one second?"

"I don't wanna do that!" Pinkie Pie whined and continued to pull and tug on the bedsheets. "Chores are stupid and boring! I'm not doing them!"

"It'd be nice if you just contributed to Sugarcube Corner's chores, Pinkie." Fluttershy walked up to her and gently whispered in her ears. "The Cakes'd really appreciate it."

"I don't wanna, though! Is that too much?" Pinkie continued to thrash about in her bed, before the sheets were ripped away by Twilight and Rainbow Dash together.

"C'mon, Pinks. You've always loved doing chores for the Cakes." Rainbow Dash pulled Pinkie out of the bed and stood her up on her feet. She then blocked her from getting back into the bed. "Why in the heck would today be the day that you say no to chores?"

"I just don't wanna! I have a choice, you know!" Pinkie Pie flailed her arms as she was carried by Twilight's magic down the stairs. "I'm not doing this! Please! I'll do anything but this! No! I'll pay you all of the bits I have to get out of this!"

"Pinkie Pie! Stop trying to fight this!" Twilight strained and struggled as Pinkie shook about erratically in her magical aura. "It's good to do good things, and you've never been one to say no to work, even if it's something like chores!"

"I do hope that she's not going to be a sourpuss for the whole thing." Rarity looked at Pinkie Pie, who was still struggling to get out of Twilight's magic. "Still, though, whatever could be wrong with her?"

"Well, Pinkie Pie has been running herself ragged the past few days with all these Yo-kai incidents going around." Applejack adjusted her hat. "With everyone on edge with everything that's been going on, especially with her, she must be exhausted trying to lift their spirits."

"I don't think that's the case." Twilight shook her head. "Pinkie's always full of energy. She's never tired out for anything. And even when she is, she'd never want to let us down."

"So why would she suddenly not want to do some chores?" Fluttershy asked.

"There could be a Yo-kai at work here, but Whisper's not really here at the moment to clarify." Twilight looked down at the Yo-Kai Watch. "He's back at the castle with Spike, alphabetizing and re-organizing the books. He said he'd come right back to me once he's done, though."

The girls all arrived at the bottom of the stairs and shut the door behind them, using a key nearby to lock it up tight. Twilight then put Pinkie Pie down on the floor and allowed her to stand up, breaking the magical aura around her.

"Now, Pinkie Pie. Doing chores ain't half bad." Applejack walked over to the nearby closet and pulled out a broom. "We'll start with sweeping, as that's the easiest and least dirty one. We can move on to the tougher stuff later."

"I'm not gonna do it!" Pinkie Pie shook her head and pouted. "You can't make me!

"Pinkie Pie. It's sweeping. You love this..." Twilight took the broom herself and showed Pinkie Pie. "See? It's easy. Especially when you have a chant going." She rhythmically twirled the broom and pointed to Rainbow Dash, who began mouthing a beat. Twilight then began sweeping the floor in time to Dash's tune. "Sweep, sweep, sweep, sweep."

"Aww, come on, Pinkie Pie. You love this." Applejack rubbed Pinkie's back as Twilight kept on chanting. "Just follow Twilight and the beat. It's simple."

"FORGET IT!" Pinkie Pie shouted at the top of the lungs. "All I can hear is something ringing in my ears telling me not to do it, and I'm not ignoring it!"

Everyone gasped at Pinkie's outburst, and Twilight immediately flipped up the lens of the Yo-Kai Watch, revealing the Yo-kai at work.

A small yellow creature with a long mouth sat on Pinkie's back. It wore a black and green robe with a ring hanging down from the collar, with a yellow and blue triangle pattern at the base of it. In its' right hand was a padded drumstick, which it was bashing on its' head while spewing out gas to its' own rhythm.

"What is that?" Twilight looked at the creature as it spewed the gas around Pinkie, stoking the inspiriting flame around her.

"You D'wanna, you D'wanna, you D'wanna, you D'wanna..." The Yo-kai repeated over and over again while bashing itself with the drumstick.

"Well, whatever it is, it doesn't seem to be letting go." Twilight pulled out a Yo-kai Medal from the medallium and tossed it into the air. "Time for some Yo-kai intervention!"

"Come on out, my Yo-kai friend! Calling Cutta-nah!" Twilight threw the medal skyward and caught it with her magic. "Yo-kai Medal! Do your thing!" And she rammed it into the side of the watch.

"SUMMONING: BRAVE!" The watch cried out as the red beams caused Cutta-nah to form.

Sumo shave!
Flavo engrave!
Flash team'a Brave!

"Cutta-nah." He let out a yawn as he sat down in front of Twilight.

"What in tarnation's going on, Twilight?" Applejack peaked through the lens and saw the Yo-kai that had been inspiriting Pinkie Pie sitting on her back. "And what in Equestria's that thing?!"

"What thing?" Rarity looked through too at the creature and let out a yelp. "Uggh! It's absolutely hideous! That robe is far too out of season!"

"Rarity, there's a Yo-kai making Pinkie Pie not want to do things, and all you're worried about is its' clothes?" Twilight looked over at Rarity and raised her brow.

"Of course I am!" Rarity pointed at the Yo-kai. "That robe, despite its' amazingly knit fabrics and its patterns, should be worn in winter, not summer! Why, it's an absolute travesty that it's even wearing it at all this time of year!"

Twilight rolled her eyes and went back to the confrontation. "Cutta-nah. I want you to inspirit the Yo-kai on Pinkie's back."

"A D'wanna, eh? No prob, dudette." Cutta-nah stood up and cast an inspiriting flame of his own on D'wanna, making him stop chanting and hitting himself on the head. He then pushed down one of the buttons on his body and lied down with his hands behind his head. "Honestly, D'wannas are all just the same. They just don't know when to chillax."

"What the?" D'wanna's arms drooped down as his body felt sleepy. "Who's there?" He looked around and saw Twilight and Cutta-nah.

"Sup?" Cutta-nah waved, then went right back to relaxing.

"No fair! You have a Cutta-nah!" D'wanna slumped back up and looked over at Twilight. "Maybe you're the one I need to inspirit, not this little horse." He raised his drumstick again, but as he was about to hurt himself, he let out a yawn. "But first, I think I need a lie down."

"Set it up to max power." Cutta-nah cast a smile at Twilight. "That oughta hold him."

"Uhh, what the heck's going on, Twilight?" Rainbow Dash saw both Cutta-nah and D'wanna relaxing, with the inspiriting flame around Pinkie beginning to dwindle.

"D'wanna was inspirting Pinkie Pie, making her not want to do the chores. So, I bust out Cutta-nah to make him incredibly lazy." Twilight pointed first to D'wanna, and then to Cutta-nah. "It's a little something called fighting fire with fire, Rainbow Dash."

"Couldn't you have just used Jibanyan instead?" Rarity looked at the medal for Jibanyan in the medallium. "Given how well he fought for you when Felycan came to town, I would say that he was the perfect job for this sort of situation."

"If Jibanyan came out, D'wanna would've immediately set his sights on him instead of Pinkie, and then again on every other Yo-kai I had in the medallium." Twilight saw D'wanna slide off of Pinkie's back as the flames vanished completely and she took the broom. "Cutta-nah was the best choice, purely because he's another Yo-kai that can make you stop doing things. And besides, you can't just expect me to use Jibanyan for everything. There's no dominant strategy involved when dealing with Yo-kai, even when there are ones that I've yet to discover."

"I suppose you're right on that matter." Rarity put her hoof on her lips and watched both Cutta-nah and D'wanna lie down on their backs as Pinkie Pie started to do the chores.

Pinkie was all over the place. She swept the floor in record time with a combination of the broom and her tail. As soon as it was spotless, she moved on to the dishes and began to fill the sink up with water and soap, dunking the stain-ridden silverware into the water and scrubbing hard before she put it on the drying rack. Lastly, Pinkie Pie hummed a tune to herself as she began making a fresh batch of cupcakes from scratch, taking her time to get them right before she put them into the oven.

Cutta-nah and D'wanna were just sitting there, watching Pinkie Pie do all the work. They didn't care about inspiriting anyone anymore. All that they wanted was to sit down and let her zip all over the place like a pink flash as all of the chores were done one by one. They were almost mesmerized by her speed with the first ones before she got to work on the cupcakes.

"There we go." Pinkie Pie zipped right back to the rest of her friends. "Now that the chores are done, I'm no work and all play today!"

"There's the Pinkie Pie I know and love." Twilight pulled Pinkie into a light hug before she went over to D'wanna and Cutta-nah.

"See, Twilight? This relaxing stuff's wonderful." Cutta-nah walked over to D'wanna and helped him up. "Glad you busted me out, by the way. I was getting, like, tired of just being alone and stuff."

"It seems like you're just as lazy and tiresome as I am, Cutta-nah." D'wanna shook Cutta-nah's hand. "Who's your master, by the way?"

"Her. Twilight Sparkle." He pointed to her. "Best dudette I've seen in a long time, bro. She's trying to make as many Yo-kai friends as possible, and she'd really like to see you in her collection."

"Well, I suppose anyone who can match up to me and my stopping powers deserves some credit." D'wanna shuffled up to Twilight and looked up at her. "It probably won't last long anyways, but here's a medal for your troubles." He handed her his Yo-kai Medal. "If you want anyone to stop doing what they're doing, then just call on me. My power'll make them so they they don't want to do anything, so it's really handy on daredevils who are doing too much, or for people who are obsessed with silly things like pranks." He smiled before disappearing along with Cutta-nah.

"A Yo-kai capable of making ponies stop?" Twilight pulled out the medallium and retrieved Cutta-nah's medal before she stuffed D'wanna's into it as well. "Sounds handy. I'll have to save it for sometime in the future..."

"Another Yo-kai Medal?" Applejack examined D'wanna's medal before Twilight closed the book up. "Twilight, you're a natural at this!"

"Thanks, Applejack." Twilight gave Applejack a wide smile. "Considering that Whisper keeps reminding me that there's still over four-hundred of these things yet to find, that's really something coming from you."

"Well, if there's that many Yo-kai out there, we want you to feel positive about it, not concerned." Fluttershy nodded as she walked up to Twilight. "Some ponies like it when they've got a long journey ahead of them, but they don't like it when they keep being reminded that there's still a long way to go, even after they've faced something really tough or unbearable."

"If this Whisper guy keeps nagging on and on that you've only just begun, or that you've got a lot more to learn, then you just have to remember that we'll always be right by your side, Twilight." Rainbow Dash flew by and leaned against her. "And if any big Boss Yo-kai come looking for you, then we'll be right there to do whatever we can."

"Thanks, girls. You're the best." Twilight pulled all of them into a big group hug, smiling wide as she possibly could as she closed her eyes in her friends' embraces.

Suddenly, a bell dinged, and Pinkie squealed. "The cupcakes are ready!" She dashed over and pulled out the tray using her teeth, nearly burning her lips with how close they were to the tray.

"Those look amazing, Pinkie Pie!" Rarity looked at how well textured the cupcakes were.

"They're not even decorated yet, silly!" Pinkie Pie pulled out some cupcake decorating tools from the nearby cupboard and set them down around her and the girls. "So, who wants to go first?"

"I think it should be Twilight." Applejack pointed over to her. "She did just save you from a Yo-kai after all."

"Nah. I don't wanna decorate anything." Twilight let out a fake yawn, causing the girls to look at her wide-eyed. "Just kidding!" Twilight grabbed a frosting bag and began squirting it out onto the first cupcake.

As the rest of the group realized Twilight's joke, they all ended up laughing as she got to work on the cupcake. Pink frosting began to pour down onto the pastry, and with a circular motion, she made the nozzle create a spiral on top of it. She took a bite out of it and let the other girls get on with their decorating of their own cupcakes.
