It was the next day and everyone was gathered in the halls for the start of the friendship games.

"Good morning, students. I'm sure you're all thrilled to start the first day of the Friendship Games. Our competitors will face off in every aspect of the CHS curriculum, culminating in the elimination equation finale." Luna annouced over the P.A. system.

"Welcome to the first event, the Academic Decathlon! You'll be scored on chemistry, home-ec and everything in between. But remember, only the eight students from each team with the most points will move on to event number 2. Good luck!" Celestia added.

"Chemistry?! The only thing I know about that are beakers, liquids, and don't blow up the science lab." Christian stated.

"Unless the owner is a power mad egg shaped scientist, and in that case scramble that egghead wide open." Sonic chuckled.

"But seriously, I don't know squat about chemistry. That's usually Tails' thing." Christian replied.

"Don't worry, just follow our lead Christian and you'll be fine." Sunset said.

"Students, the event starts in three, two, one, begin!" Celestia shouted.

"Incorrect!" Cinch yelled to Sunset.

"That means the winner of the Friendship Games' first event is Twilight Sparkle and Crystal Prep!" Luna announced. A sigh and scattered applause could be heard coming from Crystal Prep.

"That was awesome!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed.

"Truly amazing!" Rarity added.

"I don't think any of us could have done it better!"  Christian stated.

"But we didn't win!" Sunset sighed.

"That was as close to winnin' as Canterlot's ever been." Applejack replied.

"After a careful tally of the points, we'd like to present the students moving on to the Friendship Games' second event." Candace announced. The girls, Christian, and Sonic stepped up as all of CHS cheered.

(Cue Chao Garden Hero Sonic Adventure 2 Music Extended HQ)

Later outside the school, Everyone said their goodbyes and headed home for the day.

"Wait a minute!" Christian yelled. Everyone turned around to see what he had to say.

"Sonic look, I know roughing it is kind of fun, but I thought maybe we could have one of the girls allow us to sleep at their place. Besides, we don't exactly want to be caught on school grounds after hours." Christian said.

"I suppose you're right. we can't just sleep on private property forever. Are any of you willing to let us sleep with you guys until we leave?" Sonic asked.

"No problem! I could totally use some company." Rainbow Dash immediately replied.

"Thanks, then its settled, we'll spend the next few nights at Rainbow's place." Christian said.

"Fluttershy, you heading home?" Sonic asked.

"No thanks, I have a few things to catch up on." Fluttershy replied.

"Okay, see you tomorrow" Sonic said as he started running to Rainbow's place. "By the way, Last one to Rainbow's is a rotten egghead!" Sonic yelled out as the other two followed. As Fluttershy made her way to a bush, she sat down and pulled out a kitten. Twilight, who was hiding behind a pillar the entire the entire time, walked over to where Fluttershy was.

"Do you wanna give her a treat?" Fluttershy asked. Twilight walked to Fluttershy and sat down.

"Guess I'm not the only one to smuggle her pet into school." Twilight laughed.

"Not just one." Fluttershy giggled.

"Oh, wow. All I have is Spike." Twilight said.

"It really is uncanny. Does he talk?" Fluttershy asked.

"Um, not that I know of." Twilight replied.

"Congratulations on winning, by the way. Though, it didn't seem like anyone on your team was very excited about it." Fluttershy admitted.

"No one at my school gets excited about anything they didn't do themselves." Twilight sighed.

"That sounds awful." Here. Hold this." Fluttershy told her while she handed her a bunny.

"Um, why?" Twilight asked.

"Holding a bunny always makes me feel better." Fluttershy stated.

"Well, that's ridiculous. But... Ooh. It actually kind of works. I'm on the other team and you just lost. Why are you being so nice to me?" Twilight asked.

"You looked like you needed it." Fluttershy kindly replied.

(Cue Sonic Adventure 2 Battle Music - In The Groove)

After she said this, she grew wings, pony ears, and her hair extended to look like a tail. Seeing this, Twilight gasped in awe as her device started floating and opened, sucking a yellow mist from Fluttershy. While doing this, the device opened up several portals to another world as an animal popped out from one of the portals. Spike started chasing it through the portals until he was hit by the stream of yellow mist being sucked by Fluttershy, causing him to fall into Fluttershys hands as she lost her wings, pony ears, and her hair returned to normal.

"Spike, are you okay?" Twilight franticly asked.

"Um, I think so." Spike replied. Both of them suddenly screamed as Twilight dropped Spike and ran away.

"Twilight, wait!" Spike yelled as he ran after her.

"Bye..." Fluttershy weakly sighed as she laid on the ground.

As Twilight ran into the school, she found herself trapped in the corner.

"Why did you run away like that?" Spike asked while he panted.

"Um, oh, I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with the glowing girl, or the hole in space. Or my talking dog!" Twilight frantically replied.

"Yeah. Weird, right?" Spike said.

"Are you okay? How do you feel? What happened? Where did you go?" Twilight asked.

"Hey, one question at a time! This is pretty new to me, too." Spike laughed.

"Sorry." Twilight apologized.

"All I know is I chased that pointy rabbit through the glowy thing and then I was somewhere else. Next thing I knew, I was back in that nice girl's arms and I could talk! I don't really understand why I couldn't before. I mean, it's so easy." Spike explained.

"Twilight." a voice called out.

"Quick! Hide in here!" she whispered as she shoved Spike into a locker.

"Who are you talking to?" Principal Cinch asked.

"Um, myself. It's a nervous habit. Were you looking for me?" Twilight nervously asked.

"Indeed I was. Quite a coincidence that the CHS students moving on to the next event are the same nice girls and those two boys who were so interested in you, don't you think?" Cinch said.

"I'm not sure." Twilight replied.

"Perhaps you should get to know them after all." Principal Cinch said.

"But I thought you didn't want me to." Twilight reminded the principal.

"Let's just say I'm covering my bases. Who knows? Perhaps they will reveal to you the secret to Canterlot High's newfound success." the principal stated.

"I dunno. Spying feels kind of... wrong." Twilight admitted.

"Well, it's your decision, Twilight. It's not as if your application hangs in the balance. On second thought, yes, it does." Principal Cinch stated as she left.

"Man, she's awful. What are you gonna do?" Spike asked as he came out of the locker.

"I don't know, Spike. I don't know." Twilight sighed.
