Chapter 11: Act1

Shadows and Faces

As the night approached the peaceful village a 2-block high cobble wall with wooden fence lining the top enclosed the town from the monsters of the night as Villagers for once could socialize and trade in the beautiful night sky.

On the slight outskirts of town, a small wooden (Home) was dimly lit as Blaze sat on an actual sofa as he wrote out a book as a cow laid on the carpet beside him named ‘Steve the Cow’.

The book Blaze wrote into was labelled ‘How to Survive a Cube World’ and so far, there were 5 rules.

Rule 1: Find a high point and look around

Getting a good look at your surroundings is better than wandering for hours

Rule 2: Grab stone tools ASAP

Night will come quick so have better tools than wood

Rule 3: Make a small camp for the night

Finding a cave or making a small shack is better than spending all resources.

Rule 4: Avoid Mobs if possible

In the beginning, you won’t have much so best to avoid conflicts

Rule 5: Know your Mobs

Zombies: Attack with melee and can carry armour and weapons.

Skeletons: Use bows from a distance and can wear armour.

Spiders: Faster, can climb straight walls and tend to jump to attack.

Creepers: Silent and will cause an explosion that can instant kill without armour

Enderman: Avoid eye contact and you’ll be happy chaps.

“So Steve you think if I get out of this mess this will get me something?” Blaze asked the cow as it looked at him and gave him a deadpan expression before snorting

“You’re just jealous because it’s not apples,” Blaze said with a pout as he put it away and sat looking out the window at the night sky as he saw the moon rising

“To think that such a dangerous game at night can also be beautiful,” Blaze pondered as Steve ‘Mooed’ in agreement

“It is why I rule the night so that I can witness it, sadly the monsters ruin it for others. . .but not you?” Another voice with an echo chimed in

First Blaze yelled along with Steve then he fell back on his sofa and landed head first on the floor.

“Ow…”

“Moo…”

“Sorry I didn’t mean to startle you,” the voice said again as Blaze got to his hooves and got a good look at him

He was like the villagers but wore a cyan top with navy blue trousers, his hair was brown and his eyes were white as snow, no pupils, no nothing just an empty void.

“I’m fine, my head was already out of whack,” Blaze said with a small smile as the person just stared “So who are you exactly?”

“I am Herobrine; I rule the darkness and night that others refuse to enjoy, but that’s understandable” Herobrine said with a sigh as he glanced out the window

“So you mind telling me why you’re here?” Blaze asked in suspicion “And why you couldn’t have knocked?”

“I am here to warn you Pony that the monster that dragged you into my world is planning to end not only this world but yours if you don’t hurry,” Herobrine spoke in a low voice as Blaze nodded with seriousness

“He has taken the form of an endermare, what I mean is the mobs in this world will soon turn into what you are and he plans to use that to weaken the lay-lines,”

“What do lay-lines have to do with this freak’s plans?” Blaze asked as he wished KAI was here to translate "Let me guess he wants to kill me,"

“The lay-lines are like highways of energy that not only run through worlds but through dimensions and if disrupted by massive amounts of energy can open a rift to another world,” Herobrine explained

“So this ‘Endermare’ plans to rip a hole through reality and take over mine?” Blaze asked as he nodded “But won’t that mean the Mobs will follow him through if they see people who aren’t them?”

“No, they will never, not whist I’m present, but the one’s in the Nether are not so loyal,” Herobrine stated as Blaze looked up and raised a brow

“The Nether’s own Goddess has been missing for decades and so no one leads them, so if he convinces them first…” Herobrine trailed off

“…Then he’ll have an army of Hell backing him up,” Blaze finished as he got up and looked through his chest and soon found 6 pieces of obsidian

“Damnit 4 short!” Blaze cursed as he turned around with disappointment “Well I’m low on ores and obsidian and no caves in the area hold what I need since yesterday and the best I have is the sword”

“Below the well,” Herobrine said simply

“The well?” Blaze repeated

"Moo?" Steve chimed in

“There is a mineshaft down below the well and could possibly lead to more valuable resources but what lies beneath I do not know,” Herobrine warned as Blaze began to sort through his inventory

“One thing I do want to know why are you helping me, normally you’re seen as the bad guy?” Blaze asked as he turned to face him "That and you are very intimidating,"

“That is because people fear the night which I rule, in turn they fear me but I don’t blame them, and the reason why I’m helping, so your world does not suffer for a fate it didn’t deserve,” Herobrine explained before giving Blaze an amulet

Item Received: Call of the Night

“What’s this?” Blaze asked as he finished packing up as he stared at the gold amulet with a blue-moon crescent in the inner ring

“This will allow me to stay in contact with you encase I hear an news on the ‘thing’ as for why I gave it to you it’s because I trust you can fix this world,” Herobrine said with a nod as he approached the window

“For now we shall part ways Pony and… good luck,” Herobrine concluded as he soon disappeared in a cloud of purple

“I’m not sure what your game is Endermare or why you wish to bring harm to my world but I’m sure on what I’m going to do,”

Blaze then ran around his home collecting all the other necessary things he may need for this trip to the underground before dawn began to break.

“Alright Steve I’ll be back before next Dawn, until then man the fort!” Blaze said as the cow nodded in understanding as Blaze smiled

He began to make his way through town before the Elder came around the corner stopping Blaze in his tracks.

“Geeze Elder are you trying to kill me?” Blaze said as he approached him

“No I believe you can handle that yourself with what you’re planning,” Elder said as he pointed at Blaze’s pick and sword

“Yea turns out this world might actually have things worse than mobs to deal with,” Blaze said casually as the Elder scratched his chin I thought before his eyes lit up

“Oh yes now I remember I wanted to give you this for all your help!” He explained as he lifted out a ‘Unique’ golden chest piece as it glowed faintly as he passed it to Blaze

Item Gained: FlareBurst’s Chest

Enchantment: Fire Aspect I to all weapons

                          Fire Immunity

“Whoa where in God’s name did you get this?” Blaze said as he felt a nice warmth spread through-out his body as crimson fabric ran around the edges of the holes

“We don’t know, we found it one day beside some ruins and only when you showed up did we realize that it was meant to fit your physic,” Elder explained as Blaze continued to ponder about it before shrugging it off

“Well thank you Elder and don’t worry I’ll be back soon,” Blaze finished with a small smile as he smiled back

Blaze eventually found the well and peered down it as he saw nothing but blue as he gulped in hesitation.

“I swear if I die because of you Herobrine I am going to haunt your ass,” Blaze mumbled

“Well you did agree to it,” Herobrine responded startling Blaze and making him fall into the dark depths as he began to swim down “Good luck Pony,”
