Twilight quietly opened the door to Spike's room chuckling as he lay there practically unconscious. "Spike...Spike get up."

"Mmm....."

"Alright then, time for the wake up call." Twilight lifted him up with her magic and carried him through the castle to a large tub, a small bucket with handle sat next to it. "1....2....3!"

She dropped him inside waking him up instantly. "Twilight?!....(cough cough) Are you crazy, I was asleep."

"And now you're awake, my problem solved. Now your's is getting clean, I'll leave you to it."

She shut the door as Spike picked up the soap and began washing himself. "How could I forget about my date today, I'll have to thank Twilight later. Man I can't believe how excited I am, I mean it is my first date really. Not to mention it's with a dragon, a pretty one at that. I only hope that everything goes alright today. Just thinking about spending with her has got me acting like a giddy school pony. You are a stud Spike, a stud.....Spike the stud.." Spike closed his eyes and let the bucket of water flow over his head. His thoughts began overpower his need to bathe as he imagined his date going perfectly planned. Unfortunately his thoughts also began flowing to another area as he lost control of his balance and fell into the water. "Wha?! Must've got lost in thought for a second there." Spike looked down to notice his dragon hood poking out. "Oh no no, go down go down!"

"Spike are you ok in there?"

"Y...yea Twilight just dropped the soap in the water."

"Don't take too long alright."

"Right. That was close, gotta make sure this doesn't get in the way during the date." Spike stepped out of the tub, grabbed the towel and dried himself off. He exited as soon as he knew his problem wouldn't arise again and met Twilight in the map room. "So did you get it done?"

"Yep here's your bow tie, everyone's in position for your date, and Rarity is no where to be seen. Though I'm confused about that one."

"Well I told what happened to her the other day remember?"

"Oh yea, her little jealousy tantrum."

"Hit it right on the nail. Think it's best if Rarity doesn't see us today. So when's Barbara getting here?"

"In an hour."

"What?! You made me get up an hour early for my date?"

"Never hurts to be prepared Spike."

"(Sigh) Guess I'll just wait then."

Exactly 59 minutes passed as Spike wound up at the front castle doors impatiently tapping his foot. "Twilight now?"

"No."

"how bout now?"

"No."

"Has it even been an hour yet?"

"You have about thirty seconds till."

"Great.....Now?"

"No Spike. Still fifteen seconds."

"Hah.....Now right?"

"10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2..and.....1. Go get her stud."

"Finally." Spike adjusted his bow and put up a great big smile as the castle door slowly opened. When Barbara came into view, Spike bowed and greeted her. "G'morning m'lady."

"Oh so formal, Good morning your royal cuteness."

Spike's cheeks looked as if they were painted red with blush. "Um...."

"Oh I'm sorry, too much?"

"Little bit but don't you look................absolutely amazing.."

"Oh you are just the sweetest dragon on earth. But really all I did was stick this star on."

"Even...without it...you're just.....stunning."

She soon found her own cheeks covered in red. "Oh my god you are the best!" Without warning she slapped him out of some kind of lovey dovey instinct and continued to rock from side to side as Spike painfully flew down in the ground outside the castle doors. "Hmmmhehe....Oh Spike, I'm so so sorry, I didn't mean to."

"No no, it's alright." He stumbled to his feet and reacquired his sense of direction. "(Clears throat) shall we get going?"

"Why certainly."

As he and Barbara waltzed into town, both her and him received thousands of comments and cheers as if they were some kind of celebrity couple. Spike covered his face embarrassment. "I knew this would happen."

"Hey don't worry, honestly it's nice. At least you're not doing this for some kind of recognition around here. You're really thinking of me as a girlfriend, not some publicity stunt."

"Yea, you're right. Alright then, first stop Sugarcube corner."

"Interesting, and what is it we'll find there might I ask?"

"Delicacies from near and far that send your taste buds on a adventure."

"Ooh I like."

The bell rang shortly as they entered the shop with Pinkie no where in sight. "Pinkie?!"

Suddenly a voice came from the ceiling leaving them to wonder. "Hold on, just giving the ceiling a polish...and done." Barbara and Spike's jaw just dropped to the floor as she seemingly defied gravity and walked down a wall dropping straight into her spot behind the counter. "What can I get you Spike?"

Barbara pointed to the ceiling and back to the ground in shock. "How did she.."

Spike just put a finger on her lips and shushed her. "Trust me, it's better if we don't question it. Two of my special order Pinkie."

"Okie Dokie." She made her way into the back of the shop and began fetching the cupcakes until the voice from a dark corner got her attention. "Hmm....What are you doing here? You want me to give Spike what? But it's just a pink cupcake, not what Spike ordered. Alright then." Pinkie returned to the front with the two cupcakes. "Alrighty, here you go. One crystal infused cupcake and one specialty."

Spike looked at Pinkie with confusion as he pulled her to the side. "Um Pinkie this isn't what I ordered."

"Someone from the back said it was special, didn't quite catch who it was, she was kinda shrouded in darkness.

"O..k."

Spike lead Barbara over to a table and sat down. "So these are what again?"

"Cupcakes. A real treat in this place."

"They're so weird compared to what we normally eat. So how do you eat them?"

"Well usually most pony's lick the frosting off, unwrap the bottom of it then eat the rest."

"So like this." She did just as Spike instructed and ended up with frosting on her nose.

"You got frosting on your snout silly."

"Hehehe."

"Hehehe."

"Don't worry i'll get it. The benefits of having long tongues." She reached the forked tip up and licked the frosting right off. Spike stared at her with those love struck eyes as he attempted a bite of his cupcake. The frosting ended up on his nose as well. "Oh man, got some on my snout, let me just.."

"I'll get it." Barbara leaned in close and licked the frosting off his snout as well. Spike's eyes shot to the floor in embarrassment as his face turned cherry red. "Hehe, you're cute when you blush like that."

"Wha? Oh I see what you did there. Tricky dragon just trying to get a reaction out me."

"It worked didn't it?"

"A little too well." Spike finally focused his jaws on the cupcake as he bit into the frosting. His eyes widened as he tossed the cupcake across the room. "Ew...Are you kidding me! Pinkie!"

Pinkie rushed over to the table as fast she could. "Is everything alright?"

"Pinkie who put...yarn in my cupcake?"

"Like I said, I have no clue who it was remember? Darkness.."

"All man it's filled with the stuff. Pinkie can I borrow a napkin to clean up the cupcake?"

"Don't worry about that, I'm the one who trusted that cupcake in the first place."

"Are you sure I can.."

Pinkie put a hoof to his mouth and shushed him. "Who has yarn in his mouth? That's right you, now take you lovely girlfriend and go have some fun, okie dokie?"

"Um...Okie dokie."

Spike motioned Barbara out of the shop with him as Pinkie began cleaning. Barbara continued comforting Spike as removed any loose hairs from his tongue. "It's ok Spike. I guess there really was no way to know what was in that cupcake."

"Can't say the same for my tongue."

"So where to next?"

"Sweet Apple Acres. In the words of Applejack, the rootinest, tootinest, apple farm Equestria has even seen."

"Sounds country like."

"You'd be right on that guess."

The sound of hoof hitting tree could be heard as it echoed around the farm. Spike smiled with anticipation as Barbara and he entered the farm. As soon their feet got ten steps, Applejack's voice echoed in from a nearby tree. "Yee ha! " Applejack bucked into a tree making more apples fall into the buckets. She noticed the two and trotted over. "Well hello there Spike. This must be that perty lady you was telling us about." Both their faces lit up with red. "I'll assume that's a yes. Right this way ya'll." Applejack led them to a small picnic table in the middle of the hundreds of trees. "Your table today."

Barbara jumped for joy before sitting down. "A picnic, just enjoying the day like the good old times. I love it."

"I reckon you would, on the menu we have the best pastry known to Ponyville kind. Granny Smith!" Without warning she appeared out of thin air and plopped down two steaming hot apple pies vanishing on contact with table. "One just simply amazing apple pies straight out of the oven and cut into 8 pieces. Don't eat it all at once now, they're hot. Enjoy."

Spike watched as Applejack also vanished into a grove of trees. "Never seen her so...unlike herself. She's usually a little more curious."

"How curious?"

"Like asking questions and sticking around for one."

Spike started to put his hand towards the apple pie until Barbara slapped his hand. "Hey it's still hot you know. Maybe we could use a couple of minutes to let it cool down."

"Oh right. Almost burned my tongue off."

"Looking out for you bae."

"Bae? Is that what couples call eachother?"

"I think so, thought I'd try it out but it just sounds stupid."

"Yes, please never say it again."

"Agreed."

A few minutes passed and the pie finally cooled down. Spike and Barbara dug in and before long were down to the two last pieces. Spike picked up piece and brought it closer to his mouth until Barbara snatched it. "Wait."

"What's up Barbara?" She motioned him to open his mouth and began to feed him. Spike weirdly felt the need to do the same and soon they found themselves staring into each others eyes. In the middle of this however, from seemingly nowhere a flock of birds flew into them making them hit the ground with surprise. "What the?! Where'd these birds come from?!"

"Does it matter, let's get out of here!" They bolted off the farm and caught their breath as the reached the edge. "So any more surprises?"

"I couldn't get the one thing I wanted to get planned, you know planned so.."

She wrapped herself around his arm. "It's fine, I say we just do some sightseeing for now. Show me around why don't you."

"Hey that does sound like a good idea. Shall we?"

"We shall." They happily walked off to explore the town. Spike eagerly displayed the town landmarks to her, wowing at Twilight's castle, making cute aww noises and the school children, and meeting the town mayor. The sun set in the sky as the adventure led them to the Carousal Boutique. "Oh this place is pretty."

"Yep the most glamorous and not to mention best fashion designer in all of Ponyville lives here, Rarity."

"Really a fashion designer. Can we go inside, come on please."

"I don't know, she's been a little strange lately. I think it's best we leave her alone for now plus there's a closed sign on the door."

"Aw man, really wanted to meet her. Oh well."

They made their way back to the center of town where for some reason, Rainbow dash was wanting for them. "Yo Spike over here."

"Rainbow, what're doing here?"

"Twilight caught me while you were out and asked me to perform a show for you. When I asked her why she said you landed a date. Also nice one Spike, she's a real heart stopper."

"Rainbow please stop."

"Alright alright. So Barbara, you really into my main dragon over here?"

"More than you think."

"Ok then do me a favor and hug Spike real quick."

"Wait why?"

"I gotta see you two together or else this won't work."

"Alright."

Spike and Barbara embraced each other as Rainbow studied. I got it! No need to worry I got exactly the routine you need."

Spike quickly snapped and jumped up. "Wait wait, let me do something first." Spike took off like a rocket past the stores and around a corner. He approached the castle and opened the doors. "Twilight?! Where are you?"

Twilight trotted out of a nearby door in confusion. "Spike? What's wrong shouldn't you be on a date?"

"Yea but I need a favor."

"I'm all ears."

"Weird things have been happening all day to my date an I just can't figure it out. There was the yarn cake, the bird stampede, and during our visit to the school, some kid decided to ask me about some....inappropriate dragon things while on my date. It's getting to feel like someone's causing these things to happen."

"Really a yarn cake."

"Yes but please listen. Rainbow is about to put on a show for us and I need you to scout the area and make sure nothing goes bad on this, please. Be my wingpony?"

"Well....Alright wingpony it is."

"Thanks Twilight."

"Hey anything to make sure it goes right."

"They're waiting in the clearing at the center of town."

Spike and Twilight made their way back to Barbara and Rainbow with Twilight in tow. Rainbow checked the skies and tapped her foot. "It's about time you got back."

"Sorry, had to pick up some backup."

Barbara acknowledged Twilight and whispered to Spike. "What's she doing here?"

"She's gonna watch our date. So far every little thing has gone wrong at some point so as a little insurance policy, I recruited her to watch the area."

"Won't it be a little uncomfortable?"

"A little, but it's worth it to get this date going well."

Rainbow still glued her eyes to the sky as the sun slowly drop beyond the horizon. The black skies set in and Rainbow grinned. "Showtime!"

Twilight began patrolling the area as Rainbow flew up and up. She disappeared far into the sky where no could see and completely vanished for a few minutes. Barbara finally caught sight of her coming down at a speed unlike any she'd seen before. "Hey she's gonna crash!"

Spike reassured bher back into her seat. "Wait for it."

"But.."

"Just wait and.....there it is!" Rainbow shot from a downward dive to straight as the circle of a rain boom exploded behind her. She began flying at speeds faster the the naked eye could see, drawing out different shapes in the sky.

Barbara's expression transformed into that of an overexcited giddy dragon, watching as shapes and objects met her eyes with colors of the rainbow. "Oh my god what's that?!"

"The outline of an Ice cream cone."

"Ooooh how bout that?"

"Hehe a strawberry."

"And that?!"

"Rainbow's cutie mark."

There must have been twenty more shapes, each begging a question from Barbara to Spike. Rainbow began making elaborate turns defining something in great detail. Barbara nearly jumped out of her scales in excitement as Rainbow finished the outline. "And.........Oh my wow! It's a dragon. Spike your friend is very talented, unbelievable."

Rainbow smirked as the outline faded away. "You think that was awesome, you remember when I told you guys to hug?"

"Yea."

"Well watch this."

Spike and Barbara stood in shock and awe as Rainbow began to create the next outline, one the looked familiar. A couple of minutes passed and Rainbow dropped to the ground exhausted. Barbara just froze in surprise as the outline was of them...not just hugging but kissing. Spike's entire body grew red at the sight turning around to hide to embarrassment. It was then that derpy appeared above everyone sleeping on a stormy cloud. A rock flew through the air and hit her in the butt. She kicked the cloud on instinct and down came lightning. Before it could that far away from the cloud, a magic bubble of magic appeared around the cloud trapping the lightning inside to bounce around. Twilight quickly flew up and motioned derpy away from the area. As she did this however, she did notice something out of the corner of her eye, a glimpse of white darting around the nearest building. Twilight looked down to the blushing Spike and excited Barbara, acknowledged they were safe and went after the white glimpse. Barbara put a claw on Spike's shoulder and shook him to turn around. He, of course, refused which made Barbara actually turn her head to reposition him. In doing so, she noticed his complete blush and laughed. "A little embarrassed are we, just over a picture of a kiss."

"Well um...."

"Spike please look at me."

"I..I..."

"Come on, I've got a present." Spike turned to face her and with all caution to the wind she brought their faces inches together. "Spike you have been an amazing host. I can't tell you exactly how much fun I've had today. Even though some things were a little sidetracked it was enjoyable. I'm not gonna lie seeing you eat yarn was hilarious haha. Spike you've tried your absolute hardest to make this date perfect and well even though it wasn't perfect to you, it was to me. So even though we hugged before, Rainbow's picture says other wise. Let's make it reality."

"Hold up that means..." Before Spike could get out more, both their muzzle's met signifying her love for him, like soulmates, like destined lovers, and for a comedic feel, like two dragons who could go at it at any time the pleased. Their kiss lasted long to the point where they were nearly out of breath when they parted. "Barbara, that was amazing. I've never felt anything like it before."

"Maybe you'd like a little more?"

"Like you'd never imagine."

Their leaned in for another kiss until Twilight's voice echoed around the clearing. "Rarity?!"
