My Little Pony: Dinosaurs Are Magic
Chapter 25: Blood in the Water
Previous Chapter Next Chapter-Saddle Lake-
The primeval siren whipped her tail back and forth, churning up bubbles at the lake's floor. A snapping turtle swam out of hiding to avoid becoming a meal. Ignoring the shelled reptile, the former Megalodon swam toward the surface of the large body of water, her snout the only thing protruding the lake with a ripple. Flaring her nostrils, the scent of flesh flowed into her nasal passages where her brain identified it as a meal.
"Mama, what's that?" a pony asked her mother pointing at a large fin sticking out of the water.
"It's probably just the siren's coming to play." the mare replied with a soft smile. Her smile vanished as a large siren leapt from the surface, her jaws wide and exposing crooked teeth. With a scream, the filly tried to escape the massive set of jaws that slammed on her leg.
"Mama!!" she screamed in pain as the filly was dragged into the water. Blood stained the water around them with a crimson as the mother ran to save her daughter.
"Get OFF!" she yelled, lifting a rock and throwing it at the siren's snout as hard as she could. The shark released, but lunged at the mother instead. Grabbing her left front hoof, the siren thrashed her head, throwing the mare back and forth. The mother beat down on her snout with her good hoof in a final effort to break free of the Megalodon. The siren's long teeth punctured her skin, exposing muscle.
The mother was barely alive when a tall unicorn barged from a hedge, his jaws gaping to reveal long, curved teeth. With a bellow, he slammed his jaws on the siren with a bite that could crush bricks. The Megalodon howled in pain and writhed to fight back against her attacker. The stallion dodged a tail swipe and clamped his jaws on her neck, a wild, predatory look in his eyes as he put his front hooves against her grey fur and pulled on the flesh at the siren's neck. With a sickening shred and a few drops of blood, the siren fell, a gaping hole in her neck. The stallion roared in triumph as the mother limped to find her child in the bloody waters.
"Thank you." she told her savior as she dragged her unconscious foal from the lake. It was then that the sound of crunching bones and shredded flesh filled the air. Looking over, she spotted the unicorn feasting on the carcass, blood staining his snout, chest, and forelimbs. She watched with disgust as a piece of warm, bloody meat was tossed into the air, where it landed in the stallion's jaws. He didn't even chew the hunk before swallowing it whole.
The air became filled with the stench of the corpse as the lake was swiftly cleared of other ponies, those ponies fearing the carnivorous stallion's ravenous appetite.
-One Hour Later-
All that remained of the Megalodon Siren was a few bones, a large majority of the skeleton having been ground into dust by the pony. With an effortful grunt, the stallion flopped to the ground, his belly full of seafood. Slowly, he closed his eyes and began to snore softly.
-Several Minutes Later-
"Careful, he's dangerous." an armored changeling whispered to his counterpart, gazing at the snoring unicorn with wide eyes. "Chrysalis is looking for ponies like this one."
"Right." the other changeling replied, sneaking from cover and slowly approaching the sleeping giant. "He looks like that dinosaur pony that ATE King Sombra." he muttered, noting the darkly colored chest and sharp tooth sticking out of his top jaw.
"Can't be. That guy was almost tame, and he had stripes. This pony's about as wild as they come." the armored changeling said, looking down at the stallion's blood soaked fur. Sombra's army probably would've shown him a lot more respect if he was even half as brutal as the unicorn sleeping before him.
"Doesn't matter who he is, let's just get 'im loaded onto the cart." his counterpart said with a concerned look.
"One question. How do you expect us to do that?" he said, lifting an eyebrow.
"That is a good question... Uh, do you mean without waking him?"
"No. I mean while trying to get ourselves- OF COURSE WITHOUT WAKING HIM!" the armored changeling yelled, throwing his hole filled hooves up in despair.
The large unicorn shifted, his nostrils flaring slightly.
"Well, you done goofed up at that." the other said, rolling his eyes as the stallion slowly woke, his jaws unhinging as he yawned loudly. "NOW we're dead." he continued, grabbing a spear from the cart and readying it to defend himself from the pony's wrath. It was when the stallion was on all fours that he really got a feel of how tall it was. The predatory unicorn was well over a head taller than Queen Chrysalis, and around the height of Princess Celestia. He clearly weighed heavier than Chrysalis and Celestia combined, and the blood that stained his brown coat didn't make him look any less terrifying.
The pony growled, the breeze from his breath blowing at the two changelings.
"He did it!" the armored changeling said, pointing at the other changeling with a hoof and dropping his weapon. With a horrified yell, the green-black bug pony ran off, leaving the armored changeling to fend off the tall stallion.
"Uh... Heh, heh." he chuckled nervously as the stallion lifted his lips to reveal his sharp teeth.
"You dare wake me." the unicorn growled in a deep, almost godly, voice. "You know how long I need to sleep after a meal like that?" he continued, grabbing the changeling by the scruff on his neck and lifting him clear off of his feet.
"I-it was an accident!" he stammered, grabbing the muscular pony's hoof and looking down into his yellow eyes with fear. "P-please! D-don't eat me!"
"EAT you?! I just ate an entire shark, I'm not going to EAT you!" he growled, releasing a member of Chrysalis' army. The armored changeling gasped for breath, placing a hoof to his chest as the carnivorous stallion flopped down beside the remnants of the former Megalodon turned blood thirsty siren.
"Okaaaay, then. Well, would you mind coming to the Changeling Kingdom with me? There's somepony who would like to see you."
"Leave me alone."
"But there-" he was cut off when the predator leapt up and bucked the changeling in the chest. Bones crunched as his body fell into a heap.
With a snort, the unicorn laid back down.
