One Eye loomed over the snoring Rex, a twisted smirk crossing his face as a low chuckle escaped his throat. "Now, you die." he laughed demonically, his horn becoming enveloped in a red aura. Rex stirred and looked up at One Eye with horror. In an attempt to defend himself, the former Tyrannosaurus threw a hoof at the evil pony. One Eye dodged and forced his hoof against Rex's chest, blocking of his air supply. Rex yelled in pain as his larger mirror brother put both hooves around his neck. The stallion's eyes rolled into the back of his head as the color in his face drained away. "You know what I really hate?" he snarled, lifting his lips to reveal yellow fangs. "Cheap knockoffs!" he continued.
Suddenly, a blur of light brown and red slammed into One Eye from the side, throwing him clean across the room. One Eye snarled his rage as he slammed into a wall, dust and small pieces of marble showering down on him. Rex gasped for breath as the blood returned to his face.
"You'll be okay, Baby." Obsidia's voice reassured the unicorn stallion. Rex gazed up to see the pegasus launching herself at One Eye with her hooves in front of her.
The impact from the blow pushed the two through the wall and into the castle's archives. A stunned Unicorn Wizard dropped the book that he was reading and watched with wide eyes as Obsidia threw a barrage of attacks at One Eye's face. Dust and debris stained Obsidia's lightly colored coat with tan grit. One Eye dodged an incoming attack and pulled away from the mare, craning his neck to head butt her. With a fanged smile, the stallion slammed his head into Obsidia's, knocking her unconscious.
The stallion looked up. What he saw nearly caused his good eye to pop out of the socket. A furious stallion bulldozed toward One Eye. Rex snorted and swung around, his front hooves grabbing a railing and his back hooves striking his mirror brother square in the jaw. As Rex released the handle, it snapped from it's support beams into the unicorn's hooves. Using the broken railing like a club, Rex repeatedly swung the post at One Eye's chest. With a gasp, One Eye was thrown several meters, striking a bookshelf with tremendous impact. Several books and scrolls fell from their positions into piles on the floor. One Eye rolled away from an incoming wooden beam that shrieked toward him. It would have killed him had he not dodged the attack. Instead, the post firmly planted itself into the wall, throwing bits of marble.
"FOOL!" One Eye snarled as Rex charged him, his jaws wide open. The demented unicorn leapt out of the way and grabbed Rex by the stump of his broken horn. With a roar, One Eye pulled down, throwing Rex into the floor.
It was then that a large, violet saurian leapt on top of him. Unicorn Wizard uttered a loud growl before lurching forward to clamp his jaws on One Eye's chest. The stallion's pupil constricted as he threw multiple punches at the Dimetrodon's face. Grabbing the sailed synapsid's horn, One Eye slammed his jaws on Unicorn Wizard's neck. Roaring in pain, the Dimetrodon reared up and raked his claws along the unicorn's back. The stallion released his hold and leapt backward as the horned saurian let himself fall back on four legs.
It was then that a tall mare barreled toward One Eye, her jaws unhinged to reveal rows of long teeth. One Eye swung around and shot a blast of dark magic at Talon. Rex watched with horror as the spinosaurid pony was thrown back, a long, painful, reptilian cry escaping her throat. Her lifeless body struck the ground with a dull thud before laying still. Sorrow and rage welled up within Rex as he let loose a long, loud bellow, his eyes squeezed shut as paintings shook. One Eye looked up in surprise to see the stallion charging him, his anger crystal clear as he struck the stallion in the chest, knocking him back. Rex pinned the demonic tyrant to the floor. "You know what I REALLY hate?" he snarled through clenched teeth, trying his best to hold back the sorrow in his tone.
"No, what?" One Eye choked with a twisted grin.
"You." the father spat in response as his opponents face began to loose color.
"Long live the king." One Eye snarled with a demented smile as his eye rolled back and his breath became hoarse. Rex's arms began to shake with rage and sorrow as his mirror brother's breathing stopped. His hoof slipped from Rex's arm and his head went limp. The stallion didn't release until One Eye's face was pale and his heart stopped completely.
Obsidia slowly woke to see Rex glaring down at One Eye, his teeth clenched and his face bright red. "Rexy!" Obsidia called. "He's gone." she said, approaching the stallion and placing a hoof on his shoulder. The unicorn released his hold and let himself fall to his haunches. His head turned to Talon.
"So is she." he whispered sadly, his head dropping to the floor. The moment when One Eye killed her played through his mind like a recording. Over and over again he could see the mare's body fall to the marble floor. A friend, comrade, acquaintance, and even a loyal servant, had fallen.
-Several Minutes Later-
When the ponies had gone, leaving One Eye's body behind, the Ophiacodon unicorn and Dilophosaurus changeling snuck out of hiding, slowly trudging over to their dead master.
"Ya think he's alright?" Venom asked his comrade, nudging the defeated unicorn with a hoof. As if to answer his question, a furious, wounded One Eye jerked his head up, gasping for breath. "AGH!" the changeling screamed, leaping onto the synapsid's back and squeezing here in fear.
"Get OFF!" she growled, bucking in response.
"Knock it off!" the tyrant stallion shouted, rising to his feet with an effortful grunt. He then promptly slapped both of the quarreling ponies upside the head.
The unicorn mare grimaced as Venom slipped off of her back with wide eyes, his ears laid flat.
"We thought you were dead." the Ophiacodon said with surprise, taking a step forward and allowing One Eye to support himself on her shoulder.
"Of course I'm not dead!" he snarled. "But I swear on my ancestor's scales that foolish Rex will suffer. First, I think I'll get some rest though." he muttered, leading his organic crutch toward an exit.
