-Mt. Everhoof-

Pitch lifted his lips and quietly growled to himself, a sour, angry expression blown onto his face by the mountains crisp, cool winds. Quaking with rage more than cold, the black dragon bellowed his rage, his epiglottis rumbling and thumping as saliva dribbled down one of his long fangs, surprisingly not frozen from the blizzard winds. The white saurian he'd fought months earlier had seemingly vanished like the wind, preventing him from performing his vengeful attack against her. If she was in Canterlot, the risk of being seen was too great, keeping him from launching an effective blow there as well.

With a snarl, the quadruped drake allowed his talons to slip down the mountainside like a snowboarder would. A rocky cliffside came into view. With a growl, Pitch effortlessly leapt from the cliff and spread his long wings, the cold breeze flowing over his aerodynamic body with ease.

Fire licked up from the sides of Pitch's maw, harmlessly engulfing his eyes in flame. His talons clenched together, the cold making him oblivious to the pain caused by the organic weapons imbedding themselves into his scales. Smoke billowed from his nostrils as he dove toward the Crystal Empire, a wicked roar escaping his throat.

Talons squealed against the crystalline building as Pitch slid down it's smooth surface before a loud thud echoed out as he slid to the ground. With a snarl, the dragon thrashed his tail as he walked, not caring that an abandoned watch tower was broken like a twig, quartz crystals falling into the moat with a splash.

-Inside the Crystal Empire-

A loud echoing thunder woke One Eye from his rest. Glancing at the ceiling, he noticed shards of crystal falling from the ceiling, the floor shaking momentarily. With a shrug, he slowly closed his eyelid.

-Outside the Crystal Empire-

Pitch didn't care if lives were lost when he attacked Canterlot. It meant a feast after killing the 50 foot long dinosaur he attacked three months earlier. Not looking back to view the crystalline city, Pitch thundered forward, smoke flowing from his maw and snout with each furious snort. Revenge drove him forward.

Eventually, the Dragon King found himself under a barrage of harmless gunfire. Bullets harmlessly struck his scales and wings as he thundered forward, ignoring the fleet of tanks, helicopters, and military Jeeps firing at him. Without hesitation, a spherical flame shot form his maw, striking a group of vehicles blocking his path. Revenge drove him forward and no amount of firepower would draw his attention away.

Explosions rang out as gasoline caught aflame and burst, throwing scraps of steel into the air, well above Pitch's head. The black dragon let a smug grin cross his face as he thundered passed the heaping piles of blackened metal.

"We got a dragon comin your way!" Colonel Obsidia shouted into a walkie talkie, her revolver held up in defense as the pitch black drake traveled along the road, his forked tongue flicking in and out of his mouth.

"Wait, say again, a dragon?!" a voice replied. "What would you say it looked like?"

"Big... and black." the lightly colored military pegasus acknowledged.

"Rainbow Scale..." the pony muttered under her breath, a sad tone on her voice.

"I'm sorry, who?" the colonel said quizzicly. The dragon didn't look like it had rainbow scales to her. What kind of name was that. Should've called it Black Death or something.

"Nothing. Just do your best to keep it away from Canterlot." Princess Luna's voice commanded.

-Inside Canterlot-

Obsidia gently placed Thalia in Rex's arms as she packed some of her items into a saddle bag. A smile crossed the new father's face as he nuzzled the sleeping alicorn with his snout. With a tiny yawn, the brown and red filly slowly opened her eyes to see her father's gentle eyes looking right back. Thalia tilted her head and adjusted her position in Rex's hooves, her eyes wide with curiosity.

Obsidia chuckled quietly to herself as Rex took a seat on the bed and gently placed Thalia on the soft surface. The foal stumbled out of his arms, gently face planting into a blanket with a whinny. Rex chuckled as the foal rose to her hooves and spread her wings, her legs shaking at the position.

Suddenly, the building shook. Rex's pupils constricted as he could only begin to imagine what was going on. "Keep Thalia safe." he told Obsidia, gently lifting the alicorn into her mother's arms and sprinting from the room.

-Canterlot's Front Gate-

Pitch bellowed furiously as he tried to down a watch tower, it's guards firing their crossbows at the behemoth of a dragon. With an irritated growl, the black dragon swung his tail, the blow turning the brick building into a pill of rubble.

It was then that he noticed a small shape. It was a striped unicorn stallion, his eyes glowing bright yellow. With a snarl, Pitch thrashed his spiked tail, striking the stallion square in the chest. Gasping for breath, Rex forced himself to his feet, a look of disgust across his face as he looked down at his bloodied breast. The warm, red liquid ran down his forelimbs and seeped into the earth.

Pitch was too busy laughing to notice the strange events taking place.

When the dragon was finished, he lifted to his feet and opened his eyes, only to see a pair of yellow, snake like eyes glaring right back at him. With a roar, Rex clamped down on the Dragon King's jaws with all 12,000 pounds per square inch, his teeth just managing to break through the quadruped flier's thick scales. With a mix of pain and rage, Pitch let out a moaning shriek, thrashing his body to break free of the saurians vice grip.

When he finally managed to free himself, he swung around and struck Rex in the face with his long claws, knocking the tyrant lizard to the ground with a small earth tremor.

The dinosaur howled in pain as a loud crack shot from his minuscule arm, signaling broken bones. With a smug grin, the dragon placed a clawed limb on Rex's hip, his jaws opening to their full capacity to reveal long glistening fangs. His horrid breath overtook the Tyrannosaurus as thick, foamy saliva dripped onto his face.

Vague memories of the Indominus Rex looming over him pushed him toward defeat... Rex would be dead if the thought that he finally had a family hadn't dawned on him.

With a bellow that would make thunder sound like a whisper, Rex rolled onto his back, causing Pitch to loose his grip on the king's thigh. With the sound of his teeth clicking together, Rex clamped his jaws around the drake's neck and raked his hind claws along the dragon's belly scales, drawing blood. Releasing Pitch, Rex then slammed his foot into the underside of the dragon's jaw throwing him against Canterlot's protective walls.

The Tyrant Lizard King leaped to his talons and lunged forward, his long, wet teeth closing around the black dragon's hind leg. The quadruped roared in pain as the dinosaur pulled the drake toward him before placing a clawed foot on his chest. His lips lifted to reveal his gums and the skin on his top jaw vibrated as he growled. Saliva dribbled from the T Rex's fangs as he placed a firm foot on the ground, leaving a deep imprint in the gravel. Pitch could clearly see his own blood staining the saurian's teeth and tongue, as well as the scales on his snout. The black dragon winced as he prepared to be killed.

Suddenly, a mirror version of the Tyrannosaurus clamped it's jaws around Rex's neck. It was almost the same exact dinosaur, except it was darker, and could very clearly be seen with a jagged scar covering it's left eye socket. Pitch wasted no time in jumping to his feet and aiding his savior in the killing.

-Inside Canterlot-

The sound of bellows filled the Indominus Rex's ears, agitating the giant of a unicorn. She was about ready to explode from the built up anger that she was forbidden to let loose inside the castle.

"Screw this, shit!" she bellowed to herself, sprinting down the hall, her eyes flashing bright red as her fur was replaced with scutes and scales.

-Canterlot's Gate-

Rex was being killed, his body was riddled with bite marks, claw marks, and burns from the dragon's hot breath. When all hope seemed lost, an albino figure smashed through the gate like it was made of glass. Her red eyes locked onto the one eyes T Rex and the black dragon as she thundered, head long toward them. Her claws splayed out as a loud bellow escaped her throat.

One Eye released Rex and dodged an incoming swipe from Dawn, missing, but striking Pitch just below the eye. The dragon angrily hissed as the Indominus used her skull like a battering ram with a force three times as powerful as that of a squad of changelings using a post to break down Canterlot's gate.

With a sickening crack, one of the four long horns atop Pitch's head snapped, falling to the ground with a plume of dust. Dawn bellowed triumphantly as Pitch uttered a pitiful roar, his head rearing back.

Rex's painful bellows, as well as angry roars and growls, filled the air. Pitch was looking no less wounded than the tyrant king. One Eye was the least wounded, managing to repeatedly throw blows at the Indominus Rex and Tyrannosaurus Rex with minimal damage. Finally, though, and to Rex's surprise, the Indominus at last slashed at One Eye's vulnerable ribs, raking away scales to reveal muscles and tissue. The massive saurian bellowed in pain and swung his skull at the hybrid, shattering serrated teeth and throwing the bloodied weapons from her maw.

While the Indominus was Rex's enemy, he would not be able to fight the dragon and One Eye alone.

Uttering a menacing growl, Rex charged his mirror brother, throwing a stunned Pitch out of his way. With a bellow, Rex slammed his jaws One Eye's tail and yanked him to the ground, the dinosaur roaring in shock as Rex closed his jaws on the tyrant's pelvis. The one eyed reptile lifted his lips and hissed, his pupil constricting as he slapped his tail against Rex's side in a final attempt to get the father dinosaur off of him.

Suddenly, out of the blue, Pitch gripped his claws on Rex's spine and beat his wings as hard as he could. The forty foot long dinosaur began to feel the ground beneath his feet move away. Looking down, Rex angrily bellowed as he was lifted higher into the air, thrashing to try and break the dragon's grip before he was lifted too high.

With a grim smirk, Pitch released the dinosaur.

Rex plummeted to the ground beneath him, his eyes wide with fear.

Dust flew into the air as Rex landed, his eyes closed.

One Eye and Pitch then left, the black drake flying high above the Tyrannosaurus. One Eye bellowed triumphantly, the ground shook with each footstep.

Rex moaned in pain, lifting his lips at the pain from his fall back to Equestria. A frightened and very worried Obsidia sprinted out to meet the wounded dinosaur, her vision blurring. Thalia leapt from her back and stumbled toward her father, recognizing his scent. Rex winced in pain as the alicorn filly placed her hooves on his massive snout, his ragged breaths of air blowing against her mane. With a small whinny, Thalia climbed onto his snout and laid there, her vibrant eyes gazing into Rex's large, yellow eyes.

The Indominus Rex reverted to her pony form, a sigh of relief leaking from her throat as the sweet taste of One Eye's blood rested on her tongue. Looking over, she spotted Rex, still in his saurian form, gazing at a tiny pony on his snout. Dawn shrugged her shoulders and turned to head back into the castle... She would've been able to if the gate's rubble wasn't blocking her.

Obsidia stroked Rex's scaly brow, a half chuckle-half sob escaping her throat in a mixture of relief and worry. The tyrannosaur let a growl similar to a purr escape his throat, his snout vibrating as the noise leaked from his jaws. Thalia leapt from her father's nasal bridge and approached her mother.

Obsidia smiled down at the brown and red pegasus and lifted her so that Rex could see the joy on her face. The Tyrant Lizard King tried his best to turn his head to look at the two ponies head-on, only to be stopped by the gentle force of Obsidia. "Be still." she commanded him, rubbing his snout. She didn't notice when the gleam in his eyes slowly disappeared as they shut, his breath no longer visible on his side. One last breath escaped his nostrils as his muscles went limp.

"No. No! Rexy! Baby, NO!" she started to shout, no longer seeing any signs of life from the saurian. "NO!" she screamed as Thalia trotted to the dinosaur, her smile vanishing as she nuzzled her father's snout. "No..." the pegasus murmured to herself, dropping to her knees with a sob.

"Daddy." Thalia said, tilting her head and looking at Rex's scaled eyelid.

Obsidia gazed at her daughter, tears running down her cheeks as she gathered the filly into her arms. The light brown pegasus uttered quiet sobs as Thalia tilted her head.

Suddenly, Obsidia heard a deep groan. Looking up, a look of surprise and joy crossed her face as a muscular, bloodied stallion limped toward her, a hoof held into the air. "You didn't seriously think that I would die that easy, did you?" Rex breathed, holding a hoof to his chest as he gulped breaths of air. "Damn." he then muttered, looking himself over with a nervous grin.

"Why you little-!" Obsidia couldn't finish her sentence before Rex limped toward her and kissed her.

"Aw. C'mon, just admit it. You're happy that I'm alive." he whispered into her ear with a mischievous grin. Obsidia rolled her eyes and wiped the tears from them.

"DAAAAAMN, Rexy!" Talon exclaimed with wide eyes, looking at the former Tyrannosaurus Rex in surprise. "You can hold up in a fight just as good as your old man!" she said. Rex shot a look at her as if to ask, "Old man?" The spinosaurid slapped a hoof over her mouth. "Whoops. I've said too much."

"What do you mean, 'Old Man'?" he asked, lifting an eyebrow.

"Nothing!" the mare said, turning her head from the wounded stallion.

"Whatever." Rex grumbled, turning back to Obsidia.

"You're such an idiot sometimes." the pegasus muttered, kissing his cheek. The unicorn could only nod in agreement as Obsidia looked down at the gash that made breathing for the tyrant more difficult. Thalia leapt from her mother's arms and leaned her hooves against her father's good front leg.

"Daddy." the alicorn foal said, a childish smile on her face. Rex chuckled and lifted Thalia into his arms, flinching at the pain caused by the movement.

"Yes, that's right." Rex whispered, gazing at the foal with a smile. "Daddy's here." he continued placing the foal into Obsidia's hooves. Holding a hoof to his forehead, the stallion shook his head to get rid of the wave of nausea passing over him. With a grunt, the stallion fell to the ground.

"Rex!" Obsidia exclaimed, rushing to his side.

Talon swiftly pulled the pony up, allowing the large, unconscious stallion to lean on his shoulder. It was like trying to carry a bag of bricks.

-Canterlot Medical Wing (For Like the Seventh Time)-

Rex slowly stirred, his arm in a cast and his chest covered in white bandages. He couldn't see out of his right eye, it was swollen and sealed shut. It felt like a thousand needles were stabbing into him when he moved, and his back was killing him. The pain just went on and on. Grimacing, the unicorn stallion shifted in the bed, his heart beat quickening. A heart rate monitor repeatedly beeped, measuring the thumps of the wounded stallion's heart. With a slight look of disgust, Rex pulled the wires attached to his body off of him. The monitors beeping stopped, and uttered a long, continuous beep. Rex rolled his eyes as doctors rushed to his side.

"I'm fine!" Rex lied, propping himself up.

"You need to rest." a pony commanded, pushing him against the bed.

"OW, damn it!" he shouted, pushing her hoof away from his chest with a glare. The mare grimaced apologetically and moved away from the angry unicorn.

"Rex, baby! Calm down." Obsidia's voice said as she entered the room. "How do you feel?" she then asked, a worried look on her face as she asked.

"I feel like I just got hit by a train." he replied flatly as a doctor held a hoof to his forehead. "Get away from me!" Rex snarled, slapping her hoof away.

"She's just trying to check your temperature." Obsidia assured him with a soft smile.

"Well, why can't she just NOT?! I feel fine, okay?" Rex growled, causing Obsidia to chuckle. "What's so flipping funny? I'm being flipping serious!"

The lightly colored pegasus giggled, her cheeks reddening.

"Mm." Rex grumbled, rolling his eyes.

"Oh, come on." Obsidia said, lifting his chin with a devious grin.

"We'll just leave you two to it." a doctor said, ushering the others away.

"Now then." Obsidia started. Rex smiled. "Let's check out your chest." she continued, changing the topic and gently pulling the bandages from the stallion's chest.

Rex sucked in his breath and placed his hoof on his girlfriend's hoof. "MM." he breathed, squeezing his good eye shut.

"Sorry." Obsidia murmured, pausing momentarily. She then resumed, cautiously unwrapping the white covering. The bandages unwrapped soon became visibly red with blood. Finally, she revealed Rex's bloodied chest, a long gash ran from his right arm to his neck.

"Would ya look at that." Rex muttered as Obsidia gingerly touched a hoof to the wound. "Ow." the former saurian said flatly as the pegasus pulled away from the gash. He grabbed the mare's hoof in retort and held it up. "I don't really know how you ponies do this sort of thing. What did the humans call it." he pondered to himself before his ears lifted straight up.

"Yes." Obsidia said before he could say anything more. She then gently kissed his lips.

"Wait, what?" the stallion asked. "How... did you know?" he questioned, one ear laying flat in confusion.

"Because I wanted to ask the same thing." she acknowledged, replacing the bloodied bandages with fresh, white ones. Rex winced slightly, his muscles tensing for a moment before loosening up as the pegasus finished wrapping him up.

"Thank you." Rex told her with a soft smile.

"Your welcome, King of the Tyrant Ponies." she replied before leaving the room. She was pushed aside by a furious Commander Hurricane.

"What do you have to say for yourself?!" he shouted in Rex's face, lifting a hoof. "You should've been locked up a long time ago, LIZARD!" he snarled, preparing to bring his hoof down on the stallion's face.

"Commander! I won't allow ANY violence here." Princess Celestia's voice said, levitating the navy blue pegasus away from the patient.

"But... But, Your Majesty!" Hurricane retorted. "He nearly destroyed Canterlot... AGAIN!"

"He also saved Canterlot... AGAIN." she replied flatly, gently placing the commander back on his hooves. "Besides, I don't see what your problem toward these newcomers has been. They haven't done anything to give us reason to harm them."

Commander Hurricane practically keeled over at the words. "My problem is that these THINGS are giant, prehistoric REPTILES who either killed to eat, or killed to survive! Do you NOT find that the least but concerning?!"

"Well, Rex here hasn't killed anypony except for our enemy. Do you not remember how he emerged victorious after the battle with King Sombra?" the celestial alicorn said.

"If you mean victorious, as in a stomach ache for the next two days after having eaten nearly an entire army, then yes." Rex grumbled, remembering the gritty, insect-like texture that the Changelings provided for him. It was not a taste that he wanted to experience again while in Equestria.
