Chapter 20: Siren

-Saddle Lake-

The long female siren writhed in anger as the Megalodon siren swam after her, her tail sweeping back and forth as she tried to escape. The Mosasaurus released her breath, air bubbles followed by an underwater bellow as the shark siren clamped her jaws on the siren's tail. Without hesitation, the female curved around, her scale like patches of fur flexing as she rebelled against the largest shark known to man, and pony kind.

Blood flowed freely from her tail as she clapped her jaws together, trying to bite down on the Megalodon's vulnerable neck. The two soon became locked in a serpentine position, the mosasaur slamming her hooves against her opponent's snout while the shark siren thrashed her head back and forth, ripping clumps of fur from the blue giant's smooth, velvety body.

With an agitated bellow, the Mosasaurus whipped her body back and forth, throwing the shark siren from her. The siren swiftly swam for the lake's surface for a breath of air, only to find herself wrapped in a strange light.

"RRRRGH!" she snarled, trying her best to free herself of the clinging hold. She was still struggling when the feeling of blades of greenery halted her, mid thrash. Looking down in surprise, the siren saw soft grass beneath her newly formed hooves. She didn't even notice when the iron hold released her.

The water pony was still wondering what to make of the plants around her when an infuriated Megalodon siren leaped from the waters, her chest slamming into the bank of the lake.

The Mosasaurus hissed in agitation as the shark let her body slowly slip back into the blue liquid, air bubbles rising to its rippled surface.

"Pretty beat up there, ain't ya?" a voice asked, startling the normally shy ocean predator. It was then that it dawned on her. Without a word, the siren looked herself over, noticing her own blood staining her dark blue fur. Sweeping her mane out of her eye, the mosasaur spotted a unicorn before her, a concerned look on her face.

"I'll be fine." the siren growled, approaching the mare who had seemingly lifted a pony almost twice her own size.

"You sure don't look it, Miss...?" the unicorn replied quizzically.

"I don't have a name. But I am a Mosasaurus." the siren replied, turning her head to the siren mare who had, moments earlier, attempted to tear her apart. The Megalodon had her head barely visible, the top of it sticking above the surface of the water with small ripples. The siren was eyeing the wounded sea reptile.

"You two know each other or somethin?" the unicorn asked, noticing the shark mare.

"No... But something tells me that I shouldn't go back in." the mosasaur replied, turning back to the pony. "Where am I." she asked, rather rudely to the unicorn.

"Saddle Lake." she replied bluntly, not at all impressed with this supposed 'Mosasaurus'' reply. "And if you don't have a name, how about if I call yoooooou... MOSEY!" she asked the siren, only receiving a flat, stone hard expression from the bloodied mare.

"Whatever." 'Mosey' grumbled, gingerly wiping blood away from an open bite wound.

"You really don't look good. Are you sure you don't want help." the pony asked again. The siren payed no attention to her, only to licking the wound momentarily clean.

"I gotta find something to stop the bleeding." she muttered to herself, looking around for something useful.

The unicorn rolled her eyes as Mosey surveyed the area, as if expecting one of humans back home to deal with the injury.

-Canterlot-

Owen Grady sighed as he stabbed at the salad with a fork, his eyelids dropping slightly from lack of sleep. How could he sleep? He still wasn't used to being one of the animals, though rarely, fed to the carnivorous dinosaurs at Jurassic World. His mind was on the one remaining Velociraptor to have survive Hoskins' men and the Indominus. The fact that a Tyrannosaurus Rex managed to court with a native was also unsettling. Would that mean, if Rex could transform, so would the foal? He didn't know, and sure as hell didn't want to find out.

"Got something on your mind?" a feminine voice asked Grady. Turning his head, he was faced with Princess Luna.

"Nah... Well, yeah. But... it'd be a little awkward to talk about." the raptor trainer replied, putting a forkful of lettuce, tomatoes, and onions into his mouth.

"I won't judge anything you say." Luna assured him with a soft smile.

"Thanks, but I'd rather not talk about it."

"Oh, c'mon, it'll help a lot more than if you kept it a secret," she said, taking a seat beside him.

"Okay." Owen started. "Are you used to outsiders coming to this, realm, did you call it?" he asked her, puzzled and looking for answers. He didn't expect the reply Luna gave him.

"Well. Not really. There WAS that PIRATE incident that we had to deal with around seven years ago. Weird bunch of ponies whose lives revolved around RUM and the Fountain of Youth and Davy Johns Locker. It was very odd, to say the least."

"A bunch of alcoholic pirates... That's uh, interesting." Owen replied, nodding his head quizzically.

"You know, Mister Grady. You're not like the other newcomers. I'm sensing a less, well, chaotic or wild personality to you." she said, looking into the pony's eyes.

"Owen." he corrected. "And that's probably because I'm not a dinosaur on my home planet." Grady continued, saying it as though it were obvious.

"Okay then, Owen." the lunar diarch said, rolling her eyes. "What was your profession back on Earth like? You seem like a strong stallion to me." she asked.

"I used to train Velociraptors." Owen replied glumly. "That was after I left the army." he continued.

"You and I... We have something in common." Princess Luna said, lifting his chin. "We're guardians. We serve for our respecting countries. I respect that."

"Guardian might be stretching it." Owen said bluntly, shunning away the pounding in his heart. He was NOT about ready to get overly comfortable talking to a princess. "I fought for my country, yes. But I wasn't like a captain or a colonel, or something like that." he continued, turning his head away.

"Owen... You still did the right thing, and even still, after you left the army."

-Saddle Lake-

The siren paced back and forth, her long tail thrashing back and forth in impatience. The cool wind blew against her wet fur, causing the former mosasaur to shiver in the cold. "So, what you're telling me... is that I'm in some crazy land called Equestria, where..." Mosey stopped, her voice trailing as she tried to find the right combination of wording to use without freaking the unicorn out. "it's populace is nothing but herbivores?"

"For the most part, yes. Few of us ponies are omnivores with the exception of King Sombra and Queen Chrysalis." she acknowledged with a nod and a grin.

"Then this is going to go f***ing terribly." the blue mare replied with wide eyes, not paying attention to the unicorn's reaction to the sentence.

"W-why?" the mare stammered, putting two and two together.

"Because I have a taste for blood!" Mosey replied, rather irritated and growing more impatient by the minute.

The unicorn practically jumped out of her fur with shock, disgust, and ultimately fear.

-Crystal Kingdom-

One Eye tapped his hoof, his mind racing as to how he got chased off by one of Equestria's natives. He listened as Venom and the Ophiacodon unicorn whispered amongst themselves, eyeing the tyrant stallion with wide eyes. The tyrannosaur rolled his eye as he began to make out faint words.

"Will you two knock it off?!" he shouted angrily, baring his deadly teeth. "I've heard enough of your blabbering!" he continued, cuffing both of the ponies upside the head with a glare.

"The hell was that for?!" Venom retorted.

"All I've been hearing from you two since we got back hear is how I got my ass kicked by a native. Now SHUT UP, or I'll tear your tongues out so you CAN'T talk!" One Eye threatened, his tone of voice showing not only anger, but distress and slight shame. The Ophiacodon, wisely nodded her head in response. Venom was not so logical.

"Whatever!" the changeling growled, only to get another hoof to the head. "Will you STOP THAT?!!" he shouted, spasmodically turning to face One Eye with a red face.

"Then don't talk back." the tyrant snarled threateningly into his ear.

"Fine!" Venom replied.

-Ponyville-

The unicorn pulled Mosey by the hoof down Ponyville's gravel road, a stern, intent look passing by her face. She had a mission: Operation; introduce Mosey to Princess Celestia and hopefully not get in trouble for bringing an outsider to Canterlot. Long title, yes. Logical? Probably not.

The Mosasaurus siren lifted an eyebrow as the underside of her tail soon became caked in road grit and dust. It was surprising how strong the mare actually was. Managing to yank a pony twice her size down a road was no small feat. In fact, it was a large accomplishment. Get it, because Mosey is big? Funny, right? Never mind...

"Uhh. Where are you taking me, exactly?" the siren asked, confusion and annoyance showing through her tone and face.

"Canterlot." the mare replied bluntly.

"Gee. Thanks for the info, that really simplifies things for me." Mosey said sarcastically.

-Twenty Minutes Later-

The Mosasaurus' tail was scuffed and road burned. Dirt lodged itself into the peeling skin, only making it hurt five times more than without dirt in it. Finally, the unicorn stopped at a gate, allowing Mosey to inspect the fur on the bottom of her fin. Much of the blue fur was missing, revealing dirty blue-pink skin. The siren gritted her teeth together as she gingerly felt the area, it burned to the touch. The former mosasaur whipped her head to glare at the mare, a furious underbite barely visible.

"Sorry." she said, not really showing it in her tone and body language.

"Mm hm." Mosey breathed, annoyed as she turned her attention to her road burned tail.

No sooner had she started when a loud banging startled the siren. She turned and watched as a large gate lifted up. It was then that the siren mare noticed a huge white castle in front of her. "Whoa." Mosey muttered, holding a hoof to her forehead in a mind boggled manner. Her eyes grew wide as she followed the unicorn mare into Canterlot's gates. She almost didn't notice the pain in her tail.
