-Canterlot Throne Room-

"Your friend Rex was responsible for the near destruction of the medical wing and the near death of Onyx, Bill Redwood, and Scarlet Blitz!" Commander Hurricane shouted at Unicorn Wizard.

The former Dimetrodon calmly looked the pegasus up and down before a response was given. "He was doing so PROTECT them, not to KILL them." he acknowledged.

"Yeah! He could've LET them die!" Talon snarled at the military pegasus, taking a step toward him.

"Back off!" Hurricane snapped, lifting a hoof.

"Commander! That will not be necessary." Princess Celestia told the navy blue pegasus softly. "Stand down." she then ordered. "Perhaps they only mean to HELP their FRIEND."

"He's not my friend." a voice growled, causing the two saurian ponies to swing around. There stood the Indominus Rex, Scootaloo not far behind. "Can one of you get this RUNT away from me?! She won't stop following me!" the white mare grumbled.

"Gladly. And I'm glad that you could make it." Celestia said to Dawn with a gentle smile on her face. "Scootaloo, Miss Dawn would like to be left alone. Come along."

"Okay!" the young pegasus pipped up, trotting toward Celestia with a smile.

"Thanks." the hybrid dinosaur said with a confused expression. "She wouldn't listen to me."

"Now then, where, if I may ask, is the changeling?" the monarch asked, looking over the saurians' shoulders.

"That is exactly who Rex was PROTECTING this place from!" Talon shouted before Unicorn Wizard could stop her. "Don't you SEE that?! Let him GO!"

"What my friend means to say is, Venom is no longer on our side. Rex was protecting Canterlot from the Dilophosaurus." the former synapsid said in a more calm voice than the spinosaurid had.

"And what does Mr. Grady think of this?" the alicorn asked turning to the quiet stallion.

"I don't know what to make of it. All I care about is getting back to Earth where I belong." Owen grumbled, propping himself up against a wall.

"I say we let him rot in the prison." Hurricane growled, rolling his eyes.

"Out of the question." Princess Celestia told the commander. She then turned to the Redwood's, who were oddly quiet. "What do YOU ponies want to happen to Rex? It was you he almost killed." she said.

"Don't hurt him please." Obsidia whispered, barely loud enough for her father to hear.

"It would only seem suitable to free the stallion. If it wasn't for him, I might not be standing here right now. And by the sounds of things, he's done a lot to help you and Canterlot." Bill Redwood said before Onyx could say anything.

"If he's not welcome here," a deep voice started, startling almost the entire group. "then I'll take him off your hooves. We could use a fighter."

Onyx, Scarlet, Hurricane, and Celestia instantly recognized the voice. "My old friend!" Onyx shouted, trotting up to Captain Douglas Gordon with a wide smile on his face. Obsidia's jaw dropped.

"Hello, Onyx!" Gordon said joyfully. Onyx stood there for a moment before the two smashed heads, neither stallion caring about the possible damage. The two ponies smiled at each other before Douglas patted his shoulder and turned to the monarch.

"Stallions." Scarlet muttered, rolling her eyes and shaking her head.

"Is that really Dad?" Obsidia asked her mother with a confused expression. "I've never seen him do that."

"Unfortunately, yes. Your father does that every once in a while." her mother replied, rolling her eyes at the prospect of her husband literally butting heads.

"Captain Gordon." Princess Celestia said with a nod, interrupting the two ponies' reunion. Douglas turned to the monarch and bowed to her slightly before speaking.

"Your Majesty." he chuckled at how calm Celestia could be toward him, despite the events that occurred during Operation: Final Wars.

"Rex can not stay with you. As fond as I am of you, you are a little bit reckless when it comes to this sort of thing." the alicorn mare said, noticing Gordon's flushed face.

"You're walking on eggshells." the military captain grumbled.

"Bring the prisoner in!" Celestia called, ignoring his remark.

The doors to the room swung open, revealing a muscular unicorn, chains wrapped around his neck and legs. His head hung low as he stumbled forward, his hooves tripping up the heavy steel bonds.

"Whoa." Gordon muttered with wide eyes, noticing the gusts of hot air exhaled by the large stallion. "I thought this was just your everyday stallion." Douglas whispered into Onyx's ear.

"Far from it." the mechanic and father replied, not taking his gaze off of Rex. "This guy is the reason that we haven't been having problems with Sombra. He ATE the dude." he continued, his eyes growing wide as he finished his sentence.

"Uuuh... How?" Gordon asked, his voice shaking slightly.

"Are you afraid?" Onyx said with a smirk.

"Hell no! Now then, how did he eat Sombra?"

"Transformed."

"Into WHAT?" Douglas muttered.

"Tyrannosaurus Rex." Onyx replied, lowering his tone.

"Rex. What do you have to say for yourself?" Princess Celestia asked the chained dinosaur.

"I'm... sorry." he muttered, turning his head to Obsidia. His vision blurred as he lowered his head to the ground. The lightly colored pegasus' face morphed from a stern expression to a sad, worried face.

"Is that all?" the monarch said, noticing the look that crossed Obsidia.

Rex slowly nodded his head.

"... Free him." Celestia commanded, waving a hoof at the guards holding Rex's chains. The broken horned stallion lifted his head with wide, hopeful eyes. "I only do so because I at least owe you that for saving the ponies of my kingdom." she continued, as not to raise his hopes too high.

"What?!" Commander Hurricane yelled, outraged by the alicorn's choice. "He can not be trusted roaming Equestria's capital! What are you thinking?!"

"I'm sorry, but for a second it sounded like you were questioning my authority?" Princess Celestia said to the furious pegasus.

"N-no, Your Majesty." the commander muttered, softening his tone.

"Good." the monarch said with a smile as Rex was loosed from the chains. The unicorn glanced at Obsidia before swinging around and exiting the room.

"Happy?" Unicorn Wizard grumbled at Talon.

"Very." the spinosaurid replied, trotting after the melancholy dinosaur.

"Ya seem down." the Earth mare exclaimed, walking alongside Rex with concern. "You should be happy. You could be rotting in jail right now." Talon said.

"Sounds better than what I'm going through right now." the stallion muttered in response, his head low.

"What are you TALKING about?!" the pony snorted, pulling her head back momentarily. "What the hell happened that made you so negative?" Talon growled at Rex, raising her lip to expose the gums that rooted her conical fangs in place.

"I don't want to talk about it." he murmured.

"Tyrannosaurs..." the mare growled, stopping for a moment, "always so dramatic... C'mon, spill the fish." she ordered Rex, using her decided favorite phrase since being able to talk.

Rex turned and let his gaze fall on Talon, a blank expression crossing his face. "She left me." he muttered, lowering his head.

"Who?" Talon asked, lifting an eyebrow. The unicorn didn't answer, only turned and walked away.

-Canterlot-

Obsidia quietly walked down the hall in small hoofsteps, her eyes trailing the marble floors. With a sigh, she didn't notice the tall, long snouted mare before her.

"HEY! the pony shouted as Obsidia accidentally bumped into her.

"Ohmygosh! I'm sorry!" Obsidia rambled on. "I-I didn't see you there, it was an accident!"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down, kid. What's wrong?" the mare asked, leaning down to eye level with the light brown pegasus. Obsidia dropped her head and gazed at the floor. "What's the matter? Coelacanth got yer tongue?" the tall pony asked, erupting into laughter. "Ooh. That's a good one." she said, whipping a tear from her eye.

Obsidia gave her the "Are-you-dellusional?" look.

"It's a kind of fish, kid." Talon said with a frown. "Now then, what's wrong. Ya look blue."

"I lost somepony I loved." Obsidia replied, turning to walk away.

Talon, even though she wasn't the brightest dinosaur in the bunch, knew how to put two and two together. "Hold it, kid!" Talon shouted, grabbing the teen by the shoulder. "You said you lost somebody?"

"Yeah, so?"

"C'mon." the spinosaurid said, grabbing her hoof and pulling her down the hall.

"Well, okay!"

"Just behind this door is a T Rex who said he lost 'her'. He never told me who 'her' was, but if having people watch me eat, sleep, and poop my entire life hasn't taught me anything then I don't know what can. Tell me, what did this pony look like."

"I already know who your talking about." Obsidia replied flatly.

"Not a very good description, but it'll do." Talon replied, swinging the door open and pushing Obsidia into the room before slamming the door again. "HAVE FUN!!" the mare shouted through the door before trotting away with a victorious smile.

-Meanwhile-

Obsidia turned to face the stallion, and the sight wanted to make her cry. What normally was a tall, and if she had to admit, handsome, unicorn was now a wreck. His eyes were blood-shot, the result of rubbing away tears, and new ones wet his cheek. A tissue lay in his hoof, crumpled and wet. His mane was flat and his ears were laid back.

"Oh, Rex. Look at yourself." Obsidia explained with regret.

"Disastrous, isn't it?" he sniffed, wiping his eyes and face with a new cloth. "I met you, thinking that I could start a new life. A life that didn't involve a cage for the rest of my days. A life that I could be happy. But I guess not." Rex growled, dropping his head.

Obsidia's eyes began to water at the words that struck her like a hoof to the face. "I'm sorry." she whispered, quiet sobs escaping her throat.

Instantly, Rex felt regret for what he had said. His face loosened and his anger vanished. With an effortful grunt, Rex rose to his hooves and approached her. "Me too." he murmured, pulling Obsidia into a hug. The pegasus mare didn't resist and only cried into his shoulder. Rex tried not to do the same, but to no result. The former dinosaur could feel his muscles twitching and shaking with each sob.

Slowly, the two managed to pull themselves together. Obsidia released Rex and gazed at him with a half hearted smile. Rex returned the expression and leaned toward her ear. "I love you." he whispered.

"I love you too. And I knew all along that your weren't nothin but a big softie." the pegasus replied with a smile, planting a kiss on his cheek before turning to leave the room...

To her surprise, the door was locked.

"TALON!!" Rex bellowed angrily.
