Obsidia sadly walked down the castle's long halls. Bastidon, deceased. Rex wouldn't talk to her. Venom was leaning toward darkness. Talon and Rex were constantly arguing now. Even Owen was effected by the turn of events. This was all because of Bastidon's death. With a sigh, the pegasus reflected on the fact that Rex would probably not talk to her for weeks.
"Obsidia. Could you come in here for a minute?" her father's calm, reassuring voice said. Obsidia turned to see her fathers head poking out of a doorway. The light brown pegasus nodded.
"We wanted you to know something." he started with a smile. Scarlet Blitz sat next to him, trying her hardest to contain the excitement inside of her. "You... are going to be a sister." Onyx told his daughter with a smile.
"Wait. What?!" Obsidia said with surprise.
"Surprise!" Scarlet said with a wide smile. In this state she almost seemed like a foal with her excitement. "You're gonna be a big sister!" the mother said joyfully.
"I... don't know what to say." Obsidia said, flabbergasted. "I am?" she stammered.
"Yep!" Onyx answered, swelling with pride.
"HEY! Wazup?!" Ratchet's voice said as he barged into the room. "How's the little kiddo?" he said playfully, nudging Obsidia's chin with a bright smile. "Pretty exciting, huh? Yer gonna be a sister!" he said.
"Ratchet?" Onyx asked with joy.
"Sup, dude?" he said. "How's things still being a mechanic?" the stallion asked. Onyx shrugged his shoulders. "Congratulations, Scarlet!" he exclaimed, turning to the white pegasus.
"Thank you." she replied with a smile.
"Hey. Cheer up!" Ratchet said, nudging the quiet pony next to him. "Your a sister!" With a frown, he turned to his younger brother. "What's wrong with her?"
"A friend of her friend's just died. Everypony's effected by the death." the stallion replied with a slight frown on his face. "I guess the pony whose friend died isn't talking to Obsidia anymore."
"That's not cool!" Ratchet growled.
"No, it's not."
"I'm just gonna go spend a little time alone." Obsidia said sadly, walking out of the room.
"Okay. Feel better." Scarlet Blitz called after her. "Poor kid." she continued when Obsidia closed the door.
Obsidia sat against a wall and buried her head in her arms. It was then that something nudged her hoof. Looking up, the teenager saw a muscular stallion standing before her. "REX!" she exclaimed, rubbing her eyes.
"Hey." he replied. "I'm sorry I haven't been talking to you. Everybody's stressed by the situation lately, if you know what I mean." the tyrannosaur said reassuringly.
"No, no! No need to apologize." Obsidia said.
"Did you want to, I don't know, what do you do for fun?" Rex asked.
-Ponyville-
"Wait, wait, wait. Somepony in HIGH HEELS out ran you?!" Obsidia laughed as Rex ate. "You're kidding, right? Tell me that you're kidding!" she chuckled.
"I'm dead serious." Rex tried to say in a serious tone. "She used my weakness against me too! She cheated!" he told her.
"What weakness is that?" the light brown pegasus asked.
"Flares." Rex said spookily. Obsidia looked at him like he had three heads. "What?! It's true! I'm attracted to flares for some odd reason. And I DON'T like it." he grumbled, finishing off the remnants of the ham sandwich. "Not bad." he muttered, licking his lips.
"You know, for a carnivore, you can be pretty tame." Obsidia exclaimed.
"Please." he snorted. "Don't call me tame. I'm far from it." the large stallion grunted with slight annoyance. "I've just lived in a cage all my life. That's why it may seem that way." he continued.
"Come with me." Obsidia said, taking Rex's hoof and pulling him from his seat.
"ACH!" he shouted, stumbling for footing.
-Ten Minutes Later-
"Woow." Rex exclaimed. "It's so, so beautiful." he said with wide eyes.
"Yeah." Obsidia agreed, "At night, I would sneak from my house and come up here to watch the stars when my parents were asleep." the pony said with a smile.
"Can't say I blame you. It's an amazing view of... whatever this place is called." the large stallion said, a smile crossing his face.
"Dude! You got some big teeth!" the teenage mare exclaimed with wide eyes at the sight of his teeth. "What do you use 'em for?" Obsidia asked.
"Well... Normally, I would use them for hunting, but I couldn't really do that in Jurassic World because instead of letting me hunt the humans fed me." Rex replied.
"That's not right." the light brown pony responded.
"I agree. But I didn't have much of a choice."
"C-can I tell you something, Rex?" Obsidia asked with a nervous smile.
"Yeah. Sure. What's up?" the unicorn replied, turning from the view of the town to look Obsidia in the eye. It took the pegasus teenager several moments to answer.
"Uh... I, Hell! I don't know how to word it!" she exclaimed.
"I think I do." Rex said, lowering himself to eye level with the nervous mare. Obsidia looked at him with honest eyes and dropped her head.
"You do?" she asked, adjusting some stones with a hoof.
"Sure! You wanted to tell me my breath smells like a dead animal, right? It's okay I get that a lot." he said with a playful grin crossing his face.
"What?! No! That's not even CLOSE to what I wanted to say!" Obsidia laughed, giving him a soft punch on the shoulder.
"Dang it! Looks like this horn is no use." Rex exclaimed with a fake disappointment. "I thought it would help me to read your mind." he said, waving his hooves in front of the mare. "Anyway. If THAT'S not what you wanted to tell me, than what is it?" the large pony asked.
"I... uh, might... love... you." she stammered, dropping her head.
"Really? Most of the time, a girl shows me that she likes me by chasing me around until a quote, quote, surrender to her." Rex chuckled, looking her in the eye.
"You probably think I'm crazy, though." Obsidia continued with an embarrassed expression, her cheeks flushing red.
"No! Not at all!" Rex shouted with wide eyes. "I love you too! I mean... uh... yeah, I do." he rambled. Obsidia's ears pricked up and she lifted her head.
Obsidia leaned forward and loosely wrapped her arms around him. Rex hesitantly pulled back slightly for a moment and then loosened his body.
"You catch on to pony behavior pretty fast for a dinosaur." Obsidia said, her voice muffled by the stallion's shoulder. "I was told that dinosaurs were stupid, emotionless animals. They couldn't have been more wrong." she said, lifting her head to Rex's. The large stallion lifted an eyebrow and ever so slightly jerked his head back. With that, she leaned forward and pressed her lips to his. Rex's muscles momentarily stiffened and his eyes widened.
Rex closed his eyes and smiled, forgetting everything that had happened over the course of the last few days.
-That Morning
Obsidia stretched her arms and yawned. Rex snored softly next to her, his side moving up and down with each inhalation and exhalation. The light brown pegasus groggily scanned her surroundings.
"I figured you'd be here. But sleeping with HIM!" a voice growled angrily, startling Obsidia.
"DAD!" she exclaimed, looking up a very, VERY furious Onyx. "Uh... Hi... I can explain!" she said, starting to panic as her father seemed to swell with rage.
"Then explain to me THIS! Why are you sleeping with HIM?!" he snapped at her, accidentally waking Rex in the process.
"Mm. Whatimeizit?" the large stallion asked tiredly, sitting on his haunches. "Hello, Mister Onyx." he murmured, not seeing the rage that was swelling up inside of the mechanic.
"You, my lizard friend, have just crossed the f***ing line!" he shouted at the unicorn.
"What the hell?!!" Rex yelled, jumping to his feet. "What's your problem, dude?!" he asked the father with irritation. "You got some kind of problem?"
"Yes, actually. You were SLEEPING, with my DAUGHTER!!!!" Onyx thundered, quaking with anger.
"So?" Rex asked. Obsidia slid a hoof across her throat to try making the large stallion stop talking, but he kept going. "Why are you so tense around me, anyway?! What'd I do to YOU, to make you hate me?! I have just as much reason to be cared about as anyone else in this place!" he snapped at Onyx, causing the father to take a step back.
"What he means is... why can't he be treated like a normal pony?" Obsidia jumped in, hoping to break up the fight.
"HE'S NOT A NORMAL PONY!!! THAT'S WHY I DON'T WANT YOU WITH HIM!!" the mustang shouted at her daughter, his eyes flaming and the veins beginning to show in his forehead.
"Dad! C'mon! Try to see from OUR point of view for once!!" Obsidia yelled at Onyx with a commanding voice. The stallion stood there, speechless at what his daughter had said.
Rex raised an eyebrow.
"Fine!" Onyx submitted. "But on only ONE condition!" He then turned to the large unicorn. "How old are you? If you are over twenty, there is not a chance. She's seventeen." he said.
"HECK! I'm only, what? Eighteen, nineteen?" Rex said. Obsidia let a wide smile cross her face.
"THANK YOU!!" she shouted in delight, leaping into her father's arms. Onyx's eyes widened in their sockets with surprise. "Thank you." Obsidia repeated.
"Your... welcome." Onyx replied, still recovering from the shock.
"You take good care of my daughter. I'll be keeping my eyes on you." Onyx warned the large pony with a smile. "Or I will be your worst nightstallion!" he said jokingly.
"Nightstallion? Is that like an Equestrian pun, or something?" Rex asked with a confused expression.
"Yes." the father replied.
