Everything Dies
Chapter 92: Book 5: The Hunt - Chapter 3
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"How?" asked Rarity. They had been talking about fighting for a month but yet still had no idea how to actually do it. They didn't know where Chrysalis was or what her defensives were. Saying "fight" felt empty and meaninglessness.
Everyone just glanced at each other. They realized the biggest reason they hadn't done more is because they honestly didn't know how. In the past the danger had always come to them. Sunset came for Twilight's crown; all she had to do was follow. The Dazzlings came to Cantorlot High to find the Equestrian Magic, and Sparkle came as part of the Friendship Games. In every case, the enemy came to them. Now they had to hunt for it and they didn't know how.
"Wait," said Sparkle suddenly remembering something. "Fluttershy, you said you had the ability to talk to animals?"
"Yes but I fail to see . . ." she started to respond in her soft, shy manner.
"Outside, there's birds, squirrels, insects, animals that move around, animals that see, see people, see people kidnap people, see people drop off DVDs, dressed all in black. Understand?"
"She means, can you ask one of your animal friends if they saw where the boys were taken or where whoever dropped this off went," Shimmer butted in. She turned to Sparkle. "No sense in being coy."
They all got it then. They turned to Fluttershy who looked back at all of them; nervous but excited at the same time.
"Fluttershy, can you do it?" asked Twilight.
Fluttershy nodded. She leaned her head back, closed her eyes, and let her mind reach out to all the animals she could. She connected, streamed images of the boys and the man that had been at Sunsets' house, and asked where . Nothing at first, then other images from various birds. Scenes of the boys being taken, a car driving off, and a house, a minor mansion, gated, guarded, and a location. She saw it from the birds eye view, where it sat in relation to where they were now. She thanked them and broke contact.
"I know where it is," she said in an uncharacteristically loud voice that was full of triumph.
"Where?" demanded Rainbow Dash; chomping at the bits to unleash unholy Hell upon Chrysalis and her followers.
"I don't know the address, but I know how to get there. It's a mansion. It has a gate and guards around it."
"So what? Let's go," Rainbow said, not wanting to hold back her vengeance any longer.
"No," said Twilight sternly. She sympathized with Rainbow, heck, she wanted to go after them as much as anyone; but they had to do it right. "If we go in, guns a blazing, in a full frontal assault, we risk not only major casualties; but Chrysalis getting away before we can stop her."
"Uh, didn't you hear; you and Sunset are literal gods incarnate. Just use you magic," Rainbow answered back; annoyed at Twilight's caution.
"And Chrysalis has magic too," Sunset interjected. "She's tapped into whatever black magic this Morgarith possesses. Also, may I remind you, that is our real enemy. That face Twilight and I saw, did battle with, that had to be him. He's waking and we don't know how much of his power she has access to. Besides, we can't all fit in my car. How would we all get there?"
"Teleport," Shimmer said with sudden inspiration. "You teleported Adagio and me to the portal and then to Cantorlot. We can teleport to this mansion."
"Yes, but there was only four of us at max. There's eleven of us now." Sunset protested.
"But now you have me to help. I can teleport as well," Twilight said with a smile.
"Not just you, but Shimmer and I as well. Remember, every Twilight Sparkle and every Sunset Shimmer has the power of the goddesses. All four of us, working together could easily teleport the whole group there," Sparkle added.
"Not right there, about half a block away, so we can sneak up on them," Sunset answered back.
"So are we doing this or what?" Rainbow asked angrily.
The four Incarnates looked at each other and nodded.
"Alright," Twilight said, "Fluttershy, you're the center. Everyone else; form a circle around her. Sunset; you and Shimmer take the north and south position on the outside of the circle. Sparkle, you and I will take east and west. Everyone, face outwards and lock hands."
Fluttershy stood up and immediately Rarity, Apple Jack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie, Sonata, and Adagio all locked hands in a circle around her, facing outwards. Then Sunset, Twilight, Shimmer, and Sparkle took their positions, likewise facing out. The bowed their heads and closed their eyes. A white light began to shine around them. They then raised their heads, their eyes glowing white. Energy bolts shot from them to the inner circle then to Fluttershy. All their minds were now connected, they all saw what Fluttershy had seen. Then, in a flash, they were gone from Sunsets' home to where the mansion was. As soon as they materialized, the connection was broken and they were their individual selves again.
"We're here, let's go," Rainbow said and started off before Twilight stopped her by grabbing her shoulder .
"Stealth; we need stealth Rainbow. If I remember correctly their were some bushes and trees across from this place. I say we sneak up, use those as cover and spy on the place. See exactly what we're dealing with, then decide what to do then." Rainbow started to protest but Twilight cut her off. "Listen, if a full frontal assault is what's needed, then fine, that's what we'll do; but we only get one shot at this, one shot to do it right. You can't make this right if you die first."
Rainbow went to protest again but stopped. She knew Twilight was right. Whatever anger, rage, she felt, she had to put it in check. The time would come when she could unleash it; but now was not that time. Now was the time caution, preparation, observation. Study your enemy, find their weak points, then destroy them. She breathed deep and nodded at Twilight.
Twilight nodded back with a smile. She looked around at everyone else who nodded back at her. It was go time.
