"Alright then," Adagio said with a smile and sense of relief, "we're all in. Now what?"

Everyone looked around confused. No one actually knew what their next step should be. That was the problem. For over a month now they haven't been doing much of anything. Sure they worked on their powers but as far as looking for Chrysalis and coming up with an actual battle plan, they've done nothing. The weight of guilt came crushing down on all of them even harder this time.

"We ask The Mystic," Twilight said solemnly. Everyone looked at her in confusion, so she elaborated. "Sunset said we had to ask our mystic for the answers. That's you Fluttershy. We need you to go into the Mystic state."

Fluttershy pulled and gently ran her hands down a lock of hair hanging in front of her face. "I. . . I, I don't," she started to protest softly. She was so emotionally battered that she didn't know if she could go in to the Mystic state.

Twilight walked over to her, knelt down, and gently took her hands. "For Sandal," she said empathetically.

Fluttershy nodded. With out warning, her head snapped backed and her eyes began to glow.

"Mystic," Twilight asked, "what is Chrysalis up to? What are her plans?"

"She seeks to unlock the door to unleash The Black Gods of Death," Fluttershy spoke in an ethereal, other worldly voice.

Twilight scrunched her eyebrows in confusion. "Who are the Black Gods of Death?"

"Before time, before space, before energy and matter; there was nothing, the void. For time untold that's all there was, absolute nothingness. Then the void started to seethe, it grew a consciousness. It hated itself so much it split in two. Those two hated themselves and each other so much, they waged war against each other and split again and again and again; until they were legion. All they did was fight and war and tear at each other; consumed by an endless hatred for everything.

"From this chaos, other life forms would bubble up but where quickly destroyed. No other life but The Black Gods were allowed to exist; until the Goddesses. At first she was one. The symbol of harmony. The Black Gods attacked but failed to destroy her like the rest. She was divided though in to two halves. Each half a perfect balance to the other. Equal and opposite.

"The Goddesses battled The Black Gods incessantly for eons; barely surviving. It was then they created the elder gods, Zeus, Odin, Krishna, Yahweh, Quetzalcohuatl, Marduk, Osiris, and all the rest. Together they were finally able to beat back The Black Gods; not defeat them however. And while the war went on; the multiverse was allowed to be born. The energy of their battles gave it life, and from that life came new life. Not Gods, but biological life, mortal life.

"Eventually The Goddesses and the Elder Gods were able force The Black Gods into an abyss and sealed it shut so they could never escape. The Goddesses were pleased with what they had done and even more pleased with the multiverse they had allowed to be born. They decided to set back and watch the infinite universes with their infinite dimensions to unfold before their eyes from their home, The Nexus. The also discharged The Elder Gods to roam as the wished.

"At first they kept separate. Each ruling his or her own domain, birthing gods of their own. Soon, though; greed, pride, and envy caused The Elder Gods to war with themselves. Each group thinking they should be the only ones worshiped by the lower life forms of the multiverse. In their war, a thousand worlds burned and life forms without number died. Eventually Yahweh was able to slay all the other gods; including his own wife Asherah. More so; he took their unborn son, Jesus, from her womb and placed it in the girl Mary. He couldn't bring himself to kill the child but hoped placing in the womb of a mortal would cause him not to realize his own Divinity, and thus leave Yahweh as the sole god.

"Jesus eventually did find out who he was when the angel Gabriel told him. Gabriel was abhorred by the way Yahweh was ruling and told his son in hopes that he would be able to defeat his father. Finding out, Jesus tried to fight his father but was no match for him, who under the guise of Pontius Pilot, had him crucified. As he was dying, Jesus cried out to The Goddesses, who heard him and took vengeance upon Yahweh, casting him out of the heavenly realm and renaming him Lucifer.

"Lucifer burned with rage and vowed revenge on The Goddesses. He search the world until he met a particularly strong sorcerer named Morgarith. It was to him that Lucifer revealed all, the beginnings of the universe, the hidden language of the gods, the hidden rites of divinity, and most importantly about the abyss of the Black Gods of Death; upon which, Lucifer killed himself. Morgarith used his blood for ink and skin for parchment and created The Book of Death.

"The book contained all the dark magic Morgarith had learned on his own and what Lucifer had taught him. From there, he built the shrine of O Af Gamagog - The Gate of Hell. He ate the book; thereby becoming the book, the key so to speak. He went to enter the shrine so he could unseal the abyss when The Goddesses showed up to stop him. They thought it would be easy to stop him; but fueled by magic and the dried flesh and blood of Lucifer; they were unable to kill him. So much like the Black Gods before, they stopped him by freezing him in time and burying the shrine.

"The Goddess knew, however; that what was done could not be erased from existence. That eventually others would find out, maybe not the whole truth, but shades, shards of it. Enough to undo all they had done. So they decided to split themselves across the multiverse, inhabiting only the truest, most noble women of each realm. They would have The Goddess energy and be able to call upon in moments of crisis. When one set became to old, the mantle would fall to a successor and the energy would go forth, throughout time and space forever. They also created a second set of helpers. These were not self aware gods like before, but energies that could like wise be accessed by the closest friends of the Incarnate Ones. These energies were The Mystic, The Healer, The Trickster, The Warrior, and The Earth Mother.

"Chrysalis seeks the shrine to unfreeze Morgarith so he can unlock the abyss to let The Black Gods out. If unleashed they will bring endless pain and suffering throughout the multiverse; killing everything."

Everyone just stared at Fluttershy in shocked silence. No one could actually believe what they were hearing. How could all this be true? This went against everything they had been taught. More that that; it placed a seriousness, a gravitas on the situation they had never imagined. They weren't fighting just for Earth or Equestria; they were fighting for all of creation.

"Wait," Twilight said in horrified confusion. "We know who the helpers are, but who are the Goddesses?"

"You are," Fluttershy said as if that was the most obvious thing in the world. "You and Sunset are. Every Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer in every dimension, in every universe, holds The Goddess power. Before it was Celestia and Luna. You inherited the mantle from them."

Each Twilight and Sunset looked at each other then their dimensional twin. Beyond an alicorn, they were the living incarnation of the goddesses that allowed the multiverse to be born. How does one deal with that? What is the protocol? It seemed too unreal, too bizarre to be real.

Finally Twilight got hold of herself again. "Why does Chrysalis want to unleash The Black Gods of Death for? Doesn't she know she'll suffer the same fate as everyone else as well?"

"Chrysalis is a pawn. A tool of Morgarith. If The Incarnate Ones become corrupt, it weakens the Goddess energy. When Celestia left Equesrtia to be with Justinius, that was one corruption. That allowed for the fall of Luna, the second corruption. Then came the fall of Sunset Shimmer; the third. Finally when Twilight Sparkle became Midnight Sparkle, that was the final corruption. That weakened the energy so much that Morgarith was able to call out and snag Chrysalis."

"Why wasn't Celestia and Luna able to tell us this?" Sunset asked confused and a little angry.

"The current Incarnates can not tell the new chosen because such knowledge could change a person. The Incarnate Ones must be the noblest of all creatures. Pure of heart. For that reason, any potential must prove themselves worthy. To know ahead of time what one might receive could alter a persons behavior just so they could inherit the power then use it for ill. Once finally bestowed, it can not be taken away.

"When one is chosen, the current Incarnate feels it. They seek the one out and teach her as well as she can without revealing the true nature of what she is doing. Then the chosen are tested to see how they will do when faced with real challenges. Despite everything, You and Twilight have proven yourselves. You had started to receive the Goddess energy but it was only now, when you chose to fight that you inherited all of it. You are now the Incarnate Ones."

"What about Celestia and . . ." Twilight started to say Luna but realized she was dead.

"Celestia is still an allicorn. She will live out the remainder of her days as just that. It is up to you and Sunset to stop Morgarith now." With that, Fluttershy fell forward. Twilight grabbed her and lifted her up. As she did, she saw that she was no longer in the Mystic state.

Fluttershy, FLUTTERSHY!" Twilight shook her. It was too soon to leave. She didn't even get a chance to ask where Chrysalis was.

"I'm sorry Twilight," Fluttershy said weakly. "It wasn't my call. We've got to figure this out on our own." She then passed out.

Twilight got up slowly and looked around at everyone.

"What do we do now?" asked Sonata

"We fight," Sunset simply said
