Chapter 109: Book 6: Battle - Chapter 7

Morgorith stretched out his arms in front of him with his palms up. No energy blasts came out but the goddesses were thrown back against the chamber wall. The weight of a thousand worlds came crushing down on them as they struggled just to breathe, Morgorith looked on, unimpressed. He was free now and sought only to unlock the gate to where The First Ones dwelled and free them from their prison. The goddesses were merely a hindrance to that goal. The quicker they were eliminated, the better.

The goddesses reached out across the multiverse, connecting with an infinite number of Sunsets and Twilights, drawing forth all their power. With one powerful convulsion; they broke free and repulsed the force back on Morgorith who merely stumbled back a bit. The goddess of fire, light, and day flew at Morgorith while the goddess of water, darkness, and night dropped to the ground and ran at the pyramid on which he stood; each drawing their sword.

Morgorth looked down and held his hand up in the direction of Dark and she instantly stopped. He then waved his other hand in the direction of Light and she was thrown backward again. Morgoriths' head began to swell. What little hair he had fell out as new eyes began to form all over his enlarged head and open. His ears grew large and pointed. His skin became leathery and began to crack; thick, dark blood oozed out from the cracks making his skin look like scales.

"Chu hama ex lazal me rumu," he said in voice of utter boredom. It was the ancient language of The Before Ones - The First Ones and The Goddesses. It translates to You are weaker than I remember. He then reached out with his consciousness and absorbed the entirety of modern human language. "You thought you imprisoned me but you only allowed to grow stronger," he said in English. "You, on the other hand have split yourself; weakened yourself. You are barely a nuisance and unworthy of being their first victims."

Light slowly got up from the ground. Her head spun, it was all she could do to focus herself. She looked at Morgorith and snarled. "YOU ARE NOTHING. YOU ARE AN INSECT WHO WAS GIVEN POWER BY A VENGEFUL, UNGRATFUL GOD."

"And yet here I am and there you are; weak and at my mercy." There was no joy or mockery in his voice. It was emotionless, monotone, and bored. He sought only to dispatch with these two as soon as possible. He pulled the arm which held Dark at bay back a little then thrust it forward causing her to go sailing backward. He then waved his other arm and Light, once gain, went flying through the air; crashing against the other wall.

Adagio and Flash came stumbling out of the pyramid. The others watched in horror and gasped thinking Flash was still possessed by Chrysalis. Adagio looked at them and shook her head. "It's him. Chrysalis left his body. He's badly hurt though. Rarity, you need to help him," she said.

Rarity ran over and took Flash and lead him off to a spot where he could lie down. Adagio turned around and started back into the pyramid. Rainbow ran up to her, grabbed her shoulder and spun her around. "No you don't!" she said.

"We've had this conversation already," Adagio angrily said.

"Yeah, we did. This ain't that conversation. I'm just saying you're not going in there without us." She, Pinkie, and Sonata then powered up. "We're going in there with you and Apple Jack and Fluttershy are gonna stay out here with Rarity just in case some nasties are left we don't know about. That's all."

Adagio looked at all of them and nodded. She was full of pride for her fellows. She stretched out her hand and said, "Together, as friends."

Rainbow put her hand over Adagios'. "No, as SISTERS!" she said proudly.

"Well, except Sonapie and me. We're girlfriends and if we were sisters as well, that'd be incest which, ew, gross," Pinkie said.

Adagio and Rainbow just looked at Pinkie with a deadpan stare with just a hint of annoyance underneath.

"Well it would be!" Sonata said in defense of Pinkie. Then both put their hands on top of Rainbows' and Adagios'.

"TOGETHER!" they all said and then went inside.

Morgorith turned around and held his hands chest high with the palms up. Thick, sharp claws grew out of his finger tips and his finger grew longer and thicker. He curled his left hand up with his pointer finger out stretched. He then drove it through his right palm with out flinching or even registering any pain at all. He then repeated the same for his left hand. The blood-ooze flowed from the wounds. He then walked, palms up, chanting something under his breath toward the gateway.

In a flash of fire; Light appeared before him, blasting him with a beam of fire from her sword. He stumbled back a bit, his scale skin blackening. He shook his head a bit and then started walking forward again. Dark materialized behind him and ran him through the heart with her sword. He turned around and backhanded her, sending her flying off the top, to the ground. He turned back toward Light, walked up to her, grabbed her sword, ripped it from her hands and threw it away. He then grabbed her by the neck and started choking her. She blasted him with fire from her eyes into two of his. This was the first thing which seemed to cause him pain because he yelled and threw her from the top and onto the ground.

"Holy crap! Did you see that?" Rainbow asked in shock and fear. "If he's doing that to them, what are we going to be able to do?" Rainbow was now afraid for the first time. This thing was taking everything The Goddesses were throwing at him and spiting it right back in their faces. She and the others might have magical powers, but nothing on the scale of godhood, not like the actual goddesses; and they were having their rears handed to them.

Adagio squinted at the scene. She was trying to piece together what was going, why Morgorith was able to best The Goddesses so well. Then she came to an idea. "It's that pyramid," she said turning to the others. "That pyramid, this whole structure, is acting as a focal point. It's channeling energy from this world, probably the whole multiverse and the realm in which The Black Gods are imprisoned. Morgorith is the key, the living key, to unlocking that door. He must be absorbing all that energy. If we can get him off of there, he might be weakened enough for The Goddesses to finish him off."

"Ok, great," Rainbow said sarcastically. "Just how the heck are we supposed to do that?"

Adagio looked at Pinkie and Sonata. "You two can turn invisible right?"

"And teleport!" Pinkie added enthusiastically.

"Teleport over there but make yourselves invisible. Then start hitting him. Try to knock him off. Rainbow and I will flank him to try and draw any his attention and any fire he has. Plus we'll be attacking too. If nothing else, it'll give The Goddesses time to regroup and mount a counter attack."

Pinkie and Sonata nodded with a smile and disappeared. Rainbow looked at Adagio and asked, "You think this is gonna work?"

"No, but it's all we got," Adagio answered honestly.

********************************************************************************************

Morgorth started walking toward the gateway again, chanting. As he got close he suddenly reached out and grasped something with both hands. Pinkie and Sonata suddenly appeared, Morgoriths' hands around their throats. "I am all seeing. Your simple tricks can not work on me," he said without emotion.

"Y-ew, t-t-t-alk . . . . llllll-iiiike . . . my . . . sisss-ter," Pinkie croaked as she was being choked.

From his left and right side, Adagio and Rainbow blasted him.

"WHAT ABOUT US?" Rainbow shouted.

"No," he simply replied and then flung Pinkie and Sonata at them as if they were rag dolls. Rainbow and Adagio caught them but were hurled backward against the walls and fell to the ground. They were bloody and had at least one broken in each of their bodies.

Morgorith quickly spun around. He had seen Light materialize behind him and went to strike her but she grabbed his arm. Next Dark materialized next to him and grabbed his other arm. Then, together the flew off with him and flung him to the ground. He screamed in pain. He landed flat on his chest causing Darks' sword to pop out of him. She landed next to where it landed and picked it up. Both of them then proceeded to hack, stab and slice away at him. But each blow they delivered quickly healed. He slowly got up and started fighting back. He was no longer in complete control but he was holding his own.

"Getting him . . . uh . . . down didn't seem to help," Rainbow gasped out through searing pain as she laid on the ground, watching the fight.

"No, it did," Adagio replied through her own pain and misery. "But he's still drawing strength from it. It has to be destroyed." Adagio slowly made her way to her feet. Her leg and one of her wings were broken. Her leg shot hot bolts of pain all through her. She winced but started limping toward the pyramid.

"Dagi, you can't," cried Sonata who was still on the ground, holding her left side which had three broken ribs.

"I have to," Adagio said in pain but with absolute determination.

"You don't learn anything," Rainbow said as she slowly made her way up herself. "You can't without us. Limp, crawl, or roll, either way, we're coming with you."

"Ok," Adagio said reluctantly. "Sonata, you or Pinkie is going to have to teleport me up to the top. Once I'm there, teleport back down and start attacking it at its' base. I'll attack it from the top." She then stopped and thought for a moment. She then added, "If we die, I'm honored to have died with you all."

"Shut up you stupid idiot," Rainbow said. "I ain't dying today and neither are you. Now let's go."

Pinkie was the least injured so she teleported Adagio to the top and then teleported back down. Once there she waited until the others got there. "So now what?" she asked.

Rainbow looked at the structure and thought. "The pillars," she said. "We each take a pillar and focus whatever power we have left into our weapons and start wailing on them."

Pinkie and Sonata each nodded and they all hobbled their way over to a pillar. Once in place, they all nodded to each other and started striking a pillar.

Meanwhile Adagio looked around the top, looking for a place she could attack. She looked at the gateway and started walking over to it. It seemed logical. It looked like a gateway, it was probably where The Black Gods would come through, destroy that and it was game over. But as she went, something troubled her. She turned and looked at the throne Morgorith had been sitting on. It was gold with sapphire and turquoise inlay. In front of it were two iron poles, one in front of each arm of the throne, with bronze spheres at the top. She slowly turned around and walked over to it. Something inside her was telling her she had to sit in it.

She got to it and slowly sat down. As she did she was overcome by an energy she had never felt before. Her whole body felt like it was on fire, every atom that made up her body seemed to explode. Everything went black before her. Then she saw something, a scene. It was her and Aria and Sonata. It looked somewhere around the early part of the twentieth century. They were singing in a bar, causing havoc, feeding off the negative energy. The language they sang in wasn't English. It was one of the Slavic languages. She then saw one of the bar goers close up. He looked angrier than the rest. The seen then changed and that same man was firing a gun at someone - it was Archduke Ferdinand of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

It was the assignation of the Archduke which sparked World War One which in turn lead to the collapse of the global economy which lead to the rise of fascism which lead to World War Two then the Cold War in which both sides supported dictators and over threw governments which lead to the rise of terrorist and paramilitary groups in Latin America and he Middle East as well as proxy wars in Asia. All that lead to 9/11 and the War on Terror.

In that instant she knew, she saw, she had been behind all of it. All the bloodshed, all the tears, all the pain and misery of the last one hundred years had been her fault. Millions of faces appeared before her. Billions. They were the dead and the damned, those her suffered because of her. They screamed at her, cursed at her. Her pain increased a hundred fold, a thousand, a million. She screamed, "I'M SORRY! I DESERVE THIS! DON'T FORGIVE ME! I NEED TO SUFFER! I'M SO SORRY!"

Morgorith turned around. Before Adagio even sat down he knew something was wrong. He was all seeing but he hadn't seen this. He hadn't seen the girls make their way to the structure, he didn't see them attack. Now he did.

"No!" he said for the first time with real emotion - FEAR!

The Goddesses grabbed his arms and forced him to his knees. "BEHOLD, REDEMPTION" they said in unison.

They all heard Adagio scream. Rainbow, Sonata, and Pinkie all stopped and looked up. Morgorith wept in terror.

" IT IS ONLY WHEN WE CAN FACE THE DEMONS OF OUR PAST AND ACCEPT THEIR JUDGEMENT CAN WE MOVE ON." the Goddesses said. Suddenly Morgorith caught on fire and was burned away and in his place knelt Lucifer. "SOMETHING WE HAD HOPED YOU WOULD HAVE REALIZED DURING YOUR IMPRISONMENT. THAT IS WHY WE DID NOT KILL YOU OUT RIGHT. YOU COULD NEVER GRASP THAT THOUGH. YOU WERE TOO BLINDED BY YOUR OWN HATE TO SEE IT. YOU WENT SO FAR AS TO TRY TO RELEASE THE FIRST AGAIN AND DESTROY EVERYTHING. FOR THAT YOU SHALL SUFFER THE SAME AS THE ONE YOU BESTOWED UPON YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS."

Lucifer hung his head in defeat. "Kill me then. Just call me be my first name, my true name, Yahweh, one last time," he said in grim acceptance.

"NO. YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS TO THAT NAME ANYMORE. DIE LUCIFER!" With that they plunged their hands in through his back and ripped out his heart. Lucifer fell to the ground and turned to dust. The Goddesses then teleported to the top of the inner pyramid and ripped Adagio from the throne and teleported everyone out just as the entire large pyramid collapsed in on itself.
