They all turned their heads to the sounds of terrible cracking; Flash, Fluttershy, and Apple Jack. Rarity laid on the ground, passed out; her powers exhausted. It sounded as though the entire world was breaking in two. Before they could do anything, The Goddesses appeared with Rainbow, Adagio, Pinkie, and Sonata. They quickly threw a protective shield around every just as the pyramid collapsed. A hurricane of dust and dirt washed over them, blocking out everything. All they could see was an endless sky of brown and some green here and there. Finally the dust literally settled and The Goddesses were able to drop their shield. Apple, Flash, and Flutter ran up to Rainbow and the rest.

"Oh my god, you guys look horrible!" exclaimed Fluttershy, then quickly adding, "I mean you look like you took a real beating."

"So I take it this means we all won then?" asked Apple.

Adagio collapsed to the ground, crying hysterically. Apple and the other two looked down on her in confusion and sadness.

"What happened to her?" asked Apple concerned and confused.

"It's all my fault," cried Adagio. "It's all my fault! All of it! The World Wars, everything! I caused it all!"

"SHE SAT IN THE CHAIR OF TRANSFORMATION. IT WAS DESIGNED TO MAKE WHOEVER SAT THERE CONFRONT THEIR WORST SINS. IF ONE IS RIGHTEOUS ENOUGH THEY WILL BE DESTROYED BY WHY THEY SEE. IF A PERSON IS EVIL AND COMPLETELY BLACK OF HEART, THEY WILL BE UNEFFECTED BY IT. IT IS THE FINAL PROOF. ONLY THOSE WITH THE BLACKEST HEARTS WHO COULD OPEN THE GATE TO THE FIRST ONES," The Goddesses explained.

They both then looked down at Adagio. "GEM STARLING ARISE."

"Who?" asked Apple again.

"That's my name, my real name," Adagio said, still weeping on the ground. "Please, I can't get up."

"GEM STARLING, YOU HAVE SEEN THE WORST YOU HAVE DONE AND TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THAT. WE TELL YOU TRULY THAT MAN WOULD HAVE DONE WHAT HE DID WITH OR WITHOUT. ALL THAT HAPPENED WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. YOU MIGHT HAVE SHORTENED THE FUSE, BUT YOU DID NOT LIGHT IT NOR DID YOU MAKE THE EXPLOSIVE. YOU HAVE SUFFERED ENOUGH SO ARISE GEM STARLING AND BECOME ADAGIO DAZZLE FROM HENCE FORTH."

"Um pardon me, uh, Your Highness, Highnesses, Madam Highness Lady Gods," Pinkie stammered. "Fluttershy said that Lucifer died and turned himself into a book that Mor-man back there ate, which, again, ew. Yet Morgie turned into Lucifer back there. What gives?"

"LUCIFER WANTED TO RELEASE THE FIRST ONES BUT AS A CREATED BEING, HE LACKED THE POWER, EVEN AS A GOD. WE DID NOT CREATE THE MULTIVERSE; IT CAME INTO BEING ON ITS OWN JUST AS WE DID AND THE FIRST ONES. WE ARE IN A WAY ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS. YOU AND ALL OTHER LIFE FORMS SPRUNG FROM THE MULTIVERSE, MADE OF THE SAME MATERIAL, EXTENSIONS OF ITSELF. YOU COULD OPEN THE GATE BEING SUCH BUT YOU LACK THE MAGICAL ABILITY. LUCIFER DID MAKE HIMSELF A BOOK BUT HE DID NOT DIE. HIS ESSENCE WAS TRANSFERED TO THAT BOOK WHICH WHEN THE SORCERER MORGORITH ATE IT; IT FUSED WITH HIM, BECOMING ONE. LUCIFER GOT THE MATTER HE NEEDED AND MORGORITH GOT THE MAGIC HE NEEDED.

IN THE BATTLE, ONCE SEPERATED FROM THE GATEWAY AND AFTER ADAGIO SAT IN THE TRANSFORMATION CHAIR SHOWING HER NEW, RIGHTEOUS HEART; THE GATEWAY WAS SLAMED SHUT ALLOWING US TO SEPERATE THE TWO ONCE MORE. BEING OF THE SAME MATERIAL AND ESSENCE OF THE MULTIVERSE, WE COULD NOT OUTRIGHT STOP THE FUSION BEING THE LAST TIME. IT WAS OUR HOPE BY IMPRISONING HIM IN THE CHAIR, HE WOULD SEE THE ERROR OF HIS WAYS AND REPENT. ALAST IT WAS NOT SO. ONCE THE TWO WERE SEPERATED THOUGH, WE COULD DISPATCH EACH."

"Ooooooooohhhhh!" Pinkie sighed. "I shoulda realized that. My brain must be a little foggy still."

"I guess it's my turn now," Rainbow said a bit anxiously. "So now what? I mean what happens next?"

"YOU GO BACK. YOU GO BACK TO BEING HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTS. DID YOU EXPECT OTHERWISE?"

"Well, yeah!" said Rainbow angrily. "I mean we just defeated an ancient evil from killing everything. How can we go back to math quizzes after that?"

"BECAUSE WHY WOULD YOU EXPECT OTHERWISE? EVERYDAY PEOPLE GO THROUGH TRAGIC, GRAND EVENTS. WAR, SICKNESS, HURRICANES, FLOODS, DROUGHT, EARTHQUAKES. IN ALL THINGS, NO MATTER HOW TRAGIC, LIFE GOES ON."

"That sucks! What about Soarin or Apple Bloom or Chip and the others? Can't you bring them back? Didn't we earn that reward?" Rainbow was becoming furious now with the callousness of The Goddesses.

The simply cocked their heads in confusion. "YOUR REWARD IS THE CONTINUATION OF ALL LIFE IN THE MULTIVERSE. IS THAT NOT ENOUGH?"

"NO! I mean yes, but it doesn't seem right, it doesn't seem fair. It's not fair and I hate it!"

"THE MULTIVERSE IS NOT FAIR. THE MULTIVERSE JUST IS. IT IS UP TO YOU TO DETERMINE WHAT IS FAIR AND THEN IMPOSE THAT UNTO THE REST OF THE MULTIVERSE."

"What about closure?" Rainbow now seemed to be almost begging The Goddesses.

"CLOSURE EXISTS ONLY IN FICTION. IN REAL LIFE THERE IS NO SUCH THING. THE ONLY TIME THERE IS ANY CLOSURE IN LIFE IS WHEN IT ENDS AND ONLY FOR THE ONE WHO HAS DIED. LIFE IS A NEVER ENDING TAPESTRY FULL OF LOSE ENDS THAT NEVER GET TIED TOGETHER. AFTER THIS, YOU'LL STILL BE A SINGLE, PREGNANT, TEENAGE GIRL," they said nodding at Apple Jack. Then they turned to Pinkie and Sonata. "YOU TWO WILL STILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE FACT THAT WHILE YOU BOTH HAVE SWEET HEARTS; YOU STILL HAVE A TREMENDOUS DARKNESS IN YOU THAT YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE TO KEEP AT BAY." Next they turned to Flash, "YOU WILL ALWAYS DEAL WITH THE TRAMUA OF BEING POSSESSED, TORTURED, AND RAPED." They then finally looked to everyone. "EVERYTHING YOU HAVE SEEN AND EXPRIENCE WILL STAY WITH YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIVES. IT WILL CAUSE YOU PROBLEMS, NIGHTMARES, AND THINGS YOU CAN EVN FORSEE AT THIS MOMENT. YET AS WITH ALL THINGS, YOUR LIVES WILL GO ON UNTIL THEY DO NOT. THERE WILL BE JOY, THERE WILL BE PAIN, THERE WILL BE NOTHING."

Rainbow grew disgusted. "You don't care do you?"

"OH COURSE WE DO. WE RISKED OUR LIVES AS WELL TO SAVE THE MULTIVERSE. AS WE SAID, THE MULTIVERSE IS OUR SIBLING NOT OUR CHILD. WE LOOK AFTER IT AND PROTECT IT FROM THREATS BUT AS TO WHAT HAPPENS WITHIN IT IS OF ITS OWN ACCORD. WE SHALL ALWAYS BE HERE TO PROTECT YOU BUT YOU ALL MUST FIND YOUR OWN WAY."

Sonata stepped forward. "Ah, um, the way you talk, is the multiverse alive?"

"IN A WAY, YES IT IS. YOU ARE ALL PART OF ITS BRAIN. LIFE IS WHAT IT CREATED TO FIGURE ITSELF OUT."

"Well there's sumptin' ya don't hear everyday," Apple remarked.

"OUR TIME HERE IS DONE AND WE MUST GO. IN ALL THINGS KNOW THAT WE WISH YOU THE BEST." With that, a blinding encased The Goddesses. slowly it dimmed and dissipated and where once two goddesses stood, four girls had taken their place.

"Twilight, Sunset," Fluttershy exclaimed in joy and relief, "are you ok?"

The four just looked at each other with blank expressions on their faces. "We don't know," the all said in unison.
