Fluttershy was directing a swarm of insects to attack one of the winged monstrosities when she felt a sharp, excruciating pain in her shoulder. She looked down and saw she had been stabbed through with a long, flat, serrated hook. An orange creature with two bulbous eyes atop of it's shoulders and a large mouth on it's stomach had flown up behind her and stabbed her through. She tried to scream but couldn't. Her wings beat furiously but the thing held fast and started to shake her; causing fresh, hot bolts of pain to come shooting through her body.

"FLUTTERSHY!" screamed Rainbow Dash and she flew up to help her.

The thing pulled Fluttershy close to him and ripped at her stomach with it's one hand while biting at her back. Rainbow came up behind it and slashed it open across it's back. The thing shrieked as greenish black blood poured from it's wound. It let go of Fluttershy and fell to the ground. Rainbow raced down and grabbed Fluttershy before she could hit the ground.

"Are you ok?" Rainbow asked in a panic. Fluttershy just groaned and weakly nodded yes. Rainbow raced to where Rarity was. Rarity was just about to touch Apple Jack when she got there. "You've got to heal her first!" Rainbow said as she placed Fluttershy on the ground.

"You're going to have to remove that hook first," Rarity said in shock.

Rainbow grabbed the handle of the hook, said "Forgive me," and yanked it out in one hard pull.

Fluttershy screamed in pain and passed out. Rarity went over to her, knelt down, and laid hands on her.

"I gotta go. I gotta get back out there," Rainbow said in both a hurry and apologetically and flew off.

The wound on Fluttershy's shoulder slowly sealed up and she let out a loud gasp as she came back to. Rarity then promptly fell unconscious. Fluttershy looked around confused. Apple walked over on her knees and placed her hand on Fluttershy's arm.

"It's ok," Apple said soothingly. "Rarity fixed you up."

Fluttershy turned to look at Rarity. She laid on the ground, completely powered down. Her breathing was shallow but steady. Fluttershy touched her cheek as a tear ran down hers'.

"It'll be ok. You was the second big injury she had. She just needs some time t' rest." Apple assured her.

"H -how, how are you doing?" Fluutershy asked still deeply concerned about Rarity.

"I'ma gettin' there. Controlling them plants just took a lot out of me. You gonna be ok - energy wise?"

"I think I'm ok." She started to get up and fell back down. Her wings and armor disappeared as she reverted to her human form again. "She healed my injury, but she wasn't able to replace my energy," Fluttershy said despondently.

"Well, they started off with about fifty or so and it looks like we took `em down to twenty. We're only down by two and all we need is rest. I'ma thinkin' we might have this," Apple said trying to sound reassuring.

The two watched as the others continued the fight. Pinkie and Sonata were scoring massive hits. They would disappear, teleport, change shape to look like one of the monsters to get close to one and then attack it. Their knives cut off huge chunks of flesh, severed muscle and tendons, leaving those they could not kill helpless and at the mercy of others. The two acted in perfect concert with one another. It was only when they attacked a seven foot tall monster with thick, grey, almost stone like scales, and a head with two eyes on either side, a large horn coming from it's nose, and no mouth, that they ran out of luck. Their blades failed to pierce it's skin. Their blows landed without effect. It grabbed both and slammed them together with such speed they couldn't teleport in time. Apple and Fluttershy heard the thud they made all the way over to where they were. Pinkie and Sonata fell to the ground, unconscious and powered down. Apple and Fluttershy ran out and grabbed the two as the thing walked off.

The four incarnates, Adagio, and Rainbow all stood back to back now as the remaining creatures began a slow advance.

"What's it look like?" Twilight asked. She was tired, sore, and out of breath.

"Ten. We got ten left," Adagio answered equally as tired and sore as Twilight.

"Well heck, that aint nuthin'," Shimmer darkly quipped.

"Actually it's not," Sunset said in deadly seriousness. "Six against ten, considering what it was? We got this."

"We better," Sparkle said, "because I can't take much more."

"Well then, let's do this!" Rainbow said in fierce determination. With that, they attacked.

Rainbow took two out immediately but a massive hit to the chest from the one with the horn and grey scales caused her to crumble to the ground and power down. Twilight saw it and immediately teleported her to where Rarity was. Twilight and Sunset hit Stone Horn with their energy blasts. It was pushed back a bit but recovered and resumed moving forward. As it got closer, its' scales finally started to crack. Soon they began to crumble away. Just as it got up to deliver a blow to Sunset and Twilight; they completely gave way and the girls' beam tore right through it. It fell dead to the ground.

Twilight and Sunset turned around and saw each of the others had taken one out. It was now four to five. With the last of their energy they battled on. The four remaining were the toughest, strongest ones. They spit fire and acid. Released poisonous fumes from large holes in their backs. They swung, slashed and bit. It took all they had but eventually they girls were able to take them all down. As the last one fell, so did they, to their knees.

"Please tell me that's it," panted Shimmer.

"Where's Chrysalis?" Twilight asked in horror as she finally remembered Chrysalis hadn't been in the fight.

They looked over to the pyramid. The defensive wall of trees had been pulled apart to reveal a stone door that was slowly closing.

"No," gasped Twilight and all the girls started running to the pyramid. It was too late. It finished closing just as they got there. Chrysalis was now inside.
