Chapter 41: Chapter forty: Meltdown

Psychopath crashed into the open field below Canterlot, the force of his imaoct causing a large cloud of dust to form around the area. He climbed out of the hole shaped like his body only to have Zane come out of the dust and punch him in the face. Psychopath recoiled and grunted as he was blasted in the stomach begore being grabbed by the neck to be slammed into the ground again.

As Zane was about to crush his head under his foot, Psycopath clenches his fists tightly, causing his hard skin to form spikes all over his arm, which he used to stop the robots foot. The spikes caught the foot and dug into it, making Zane venerable for a few moments. Psychopath grabbed his leg with the other arm and got to his feet, he then grabbed Zanes arm and began to pull both the limbs. Before he could have his arm and leg torn off him, Zane levelled his cannon and blasted Psychopath point blank in the face, causing him to let go.

Zane landed with a loud clang of metal before getting to his feet and roundhouse kicking his opponent and bringing his fist down onto his face. Psychopath punched the ground creating a shockwave that shook the area, knocking Zane back slightly. Zanes eye tithed a darker shade of blue and he began charging a shift in his cannon, but kept fighting while it was being prepared. He managed to land a kick to the monsters chest before pulling back and aiming his cannon.

He let the energy go and it shot forward as a large ball of dark blue electricity. The ball hit head on and began to greatly damage his opponent. Due to his touch armoured exterior Psychopath managed to survive the blast and knocked it into the ground creating an explosion that knocked both parties off their feet.

Both were quick to recover as they jumped to their feet and began to charge each other with fists at the ready. As they clashed in the centre of the nearly demolished field, the ground began to crack underneath them as they both dug their feet into the dirt for support. They glared at each other as they pushed against one another in an attempt to overpower their opponent.

Psychopath went to punch Zane with his free hand but recoiled after striking an electrified bubble that appeared around the robot. Zane used this and pushed the beast back before pulling out the original RYNO.

He aimed the devastating weapon as the recovering demon and pulled the trigger. Nine large missles shot out of the nine barrels and homed in on their target, each creating a massive explosion of their own. He just kept firing and firing, until after the fiftieth time the gun ran out of ammo. He threw the gun down and slowly walked over to the creature that was now unable to fully pick himself up.

Zane grabbed him by the head and pulled. "Stand up." He said darkly as he pulled him up. "I'm not done with you yet, so keep on your feet!" He yelled in anger as he let him go and swung his fest into his side, causing Psychopath to fall into his knees and cough up blood. "Come on! Where's that brute that fought us all those years ago!? Huh?! Get, up!" Zane kicked him in the side causing him to fall over. Zane growled in frustration and began to furiously beat the wounded monster with no remorse, the shade of his lights growing darker and darker.

Suddenly, Zane stopped. His light returned to its normal light blue before his systems shut down and he fell on his side next to the near dead Psychopath.

Katie walked up to the two with steam coming from her cannons barrel, the setting on stun. She sighed as she rolled Zane onto his back and shot a round into Psychopath. Nathan came into the field with Ruby following close behind.

"Is he ok?" He asked as he shrank down to his smallest size and kneeled down beside Zane.

"He is, but if he kept pushing himself like that he wouldn't be able to keep up the fight. His body isn't built for that level of brutal combat, not to mention his circuits seemed to be going haywire, he was having an internal meltdown." Katie explained as she pulled out a crate of nanotech and broke it, letting the healing nanobots flow into the young rangers body to start repairs.

"He was in a pure rage, what the hell got into him? Built up frustration?" Nathan asked as he sat down. "It's not like him to let anger overtake him like that, he's always been great at letting go of his rage."

"Most likely Luna was hurt by Psychopath, that would be enough to send him raging like this." Ruby said as she looked up to the castle, noticing the hole in Luna's tower.

Nathan and Katie shook their heads and looked to their teammate. "Kid's starting to take after me and I don't like it." Nathan said with regret.

"Well, he did look up to you for a long time, I wouldn't be suprised if he did pick up a few things." Katie stated as she restrained Psychopath.

"Still, I didn't even know he had this much strength and power hidden away. I mean, beating Psychopath is no easy feat, even I had trouble back in the old days. If only his body were better equipped for this kinda thing..."

"I think he's best staying out of the main line of fire and sticking to support. He can hold his own and I have faith in his abilities, but the fact remains that his body is weaker than ours and he's too kind for this kind of fighting." Katie said sadly as she gently set her hand on Zanes shoulder.

"True..."

"We should probably get him to his pod so he can recharge...although I think we should take it out of the castle or move it to Luna's room."

"Why?" Nathan asked as he picked up Zane and slung him over his shoulder.

"It's at this point in time when Zane had already left the squad, plus he's very, very close to Luna.. I think leaving him with her is a good idea."

Nathan nodded and began walking towards the castle with Zane on his shoulder, Psychopath on his grasp and the other two riding on his back, ready to put the day's events behind them and prepare for the next.
