Chapter 3: A walk

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

The morning light that shined down on me and Sophia as we walked along the edges of this forest was tormenting. I really do miss what it was like to feel things physically with my own hands and what it was like to feel the wind on my face. Even that one time when I touched my corpse out of curiosity I still did not feel anything.

It was creepy to think about such a thing but I had accepted it as a fact that I am walking around with my previous body almost merged with a endoskeleton. The suit only had locks but it was the endoskeleton that crushed me when the locks broke, casing it to slide back into place. I still remember that one time less than a week ago after my death when I had inspected my corpse to see what fully happened and the endo skeleton eyes went through the back of my skull and crushed my real eyes like grapes and while they were gone the skin of them remained on the endo eyes making them seem realistic when they were real.

"So, Do you think the puppet was a guy or a girl?" Sophia asked me with a hope of breaking the long silence of the walk.

I just shrug my shoulders. "I honestly don't know, but if I have to be honest I think it's a she. Vincent did talk about the Puppet and mentioned it as a 'her' in a message he left for the night guard from what I heard when I listened in once." We continued walking and talking for a while until Sophia asked me something that caused me to stop in my tracks.

"If we get back, are we just going to go back to the way things were?" I thought for a moment and I hated to say it, but there was no other way. We could not Attack Vincent during the day back home and we could not find any records as to where he lives so we can't go and kill him at night.

"Sophia, even I don't like it but there is no other way. We could just pass on but then the night guards would be in even more danger, and both of us don't want that." I hoped that whatever plan Shadow Bonnie and Shadow Freddy had would be put to action soon.

"What if there is no way back home?" She asked.

"Then we just pass on. There would be nothing we could do." I answered truthfully.

A phone rang in Vincent's home but he just left it to hear who it was on the other end. After a few seconds the message that was to be left was heard.

"Vincent, It's me Fred. Listen I...I need your help. You've worked with the company a very long time and I need you to stand by my side in the court room. Yes, you heard that right, I need to go to court. There was a malfunction in one of the toy animatronics, that mangle bit the front part of Jeremy's head clean off. I tried to tell the cops that they were made by someone else, but because they are owned under me I am getting the charges for it. So would you be there? Please?" The machine beeped to indicate the massage was recorded and Vincent let out a sinister chuckle.

"Well done Mangle, just as I programed you to do. The facial recognition software is so easy to alter. Hopefully that place will be shut down now, I still don't trust those old ones." The phone rang again but Vincent just left it to hear who it was, it turned out to be Fred again.

"Vincent, Forget that last call. I managed to avoid going to court but I have to pay off a large fine to Jeremy's family and the toy versions have to be scrapped. Don't worry, you're not out of a job, we just need a smaller location and we can keep the older animatronics. I managed to find the old location we had and it was up for sale so we will be moving back there. Also I am getting magnetic doors installed to keep our night guards safe. We are already hanging by a thread and I can't afforded to take any more chances so the animatronics we do have will also not be moving around again, they will stay on the stage. That's mostly all I have to say. Take some time off while we get things ready. See you back at the old place in a week." The phone call ended.

"Grraaahh." Vincent punched the wall and sat down on a chair. "Why? Why won't that place just close and destroy those stupid robots? If the law discovers these stupid robots stuff people into suits then they will discover the body's of the kids when they are torn apart. I swear when the puppet did that it was like it was alive." Vincent stopped to think for a moment. "Well, the older version did start acting strange...after I killed those brats. Could they...No...Ghosts don't exist, it was likely just a malfunction from the blood. However I am not taking the chance, I need to get rid if those older versions." Vincent chuckled and he started to think up a plan to get rid of the older versions. "I can almost retire from this job anyway so I will do one last week, then those robot's are dead."

As we continued to walk along the forest edge, me and Sophia continued to talk about random things to break the silence.

"I miss being able to eat and taste things. What about you?"

I just shrugged my shoulders and said "I don't know, never thought about it. But if I had to choose, I miss being able to feel. However that does not mean I miss pain too." I heard a bush rustle close by and both of us stopped to see what it was.

A few moment's later we both saw a wolf that was made of wood come through the bush, it took a look at us and stopped walking. I continued to look at us and we to it, both of us wondering why such a thing existed. The ponies I could believe, but not a wold made of wood.

It started to growl at us but we both remained unmoving. We were metal, a strong one at that, and it was made of wood that looked to be withered. We both knew this thing could do little to nothing to damage us but I did not want to fight it because I was bad a fighting, even if I have been fighting foxy almost every night for the past year and a half.

The wolf lunged at us and bit Sophia on the arm, only to yelp and let go as it's teeth were broken. It ran off into the forest, leaving both me and Sophia looking in the direction it went for a few seconds before looking at each other.

"That was...odd." I said to her.

"I know. First Ponies, and now wooden wolfs. What's next? Dragons?"

"Don't jinx it." Just as I finished saying that we heard a glass break and both turned in the direction of the sound. We saw a zebra in a cloak standing next to a water stream and at it's feet was smashed glass and a water puddle. It was looking at us with a combination of wonder and horror and there was another awkward silence. It had a crystal in it's hoof and it was pointing it at us, not knowing what to do I decided to break the silence by speaking. "Hi." The zebra turned and ran away.

Sophia looked at me, an annoyed expression across her face.

"Tom, Zebra's can't speak."

"What about that dream we had?"

"It was just a dream. Nothing more." I sighed and decided not to argue, knowing that it was true. We continued to walk through this forest, no location in mind.

Twilight was arranging book with Spike in her new castle. She had just learned what room is for what in this large castle and was not getting additional furniture place in other rooms. She heard the front doors getting chapped and walked towards the door, when she opened it up she came face to face with Zecora, but she was panting heavily.

"Zecora, are you all right?" Twilight was worried for her friend as she has almost never been seen like this.

"Miss Twilight, Your help I need please. There is a unnatural monster in the everfree." She spoke quickly.

"Calm down Zecora. Come in and tell me what you need to." Twilight lead Zecora into the living room of her castle where she sat her down on a chair. "Now, What was this about a monster?"

"I was out to collect water from my newest brew, until I ran across I creature that seemed to be new." Twilight's ears stood up at this and she levitated some paper and a quill over to her, read to take notes.

"What exactly did this creature look like?" She asked.

Zecora closed her eyes and thought back to the event. "Their eyes were slightly shining bright, and their claws and teeth more than enough to fill me with fright. They were a fox and a chicken, with teeth that had no hope of escape if bitten. Before I ran In panic, I used a crystal to search them and found no magic." Twilight put her hoof on her chin and thought.

"I don't know what they could be. What were they made off. Wood like the Timberwolves? How big were they?" Zecora shook her head.

"They made me feel very unsettled, when I realised they were made of metal. They were taller than me, Perhaps so much so the Princesses would be slightly smaller." Twilight's eyes widened at this information.

"Tall. Metal. Bright eyes. No magic. A fox and a chicken. Why would a predator and it's pray hang out? The closest thing I can think of is a golem but they are made of stone and have magic and no eyes." Twilight thought for a moment.

"Don't worry Zecora, I will sent Celestia message about this and see if she has an answer. Fell free to say here if it makes you feel safer." Twilight said while writing her letter to Celestia
