Chapter 14: Party Time!

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

"Your aim is impeccable," I groaned as I rubbed my head from the book that landed on my head just seconds ago. With a groan, I leaned down and picked up the red cover book. "Although I wonder if you do that intentionally...you BEEP," I muttered as I gave the book a look over.

It was a simple book by design just a normal hardback cover. The ruby-red cover glistened in the glow of the evening sun. There were no markings on it to tell me a name or the author of the book and when I opened the book was met with quickly taken notes followed by neat text. I couldn't help but wonder how this book was created, and how I am once again able to understand the language. Things are not adding up, like how does Celestia have this book in her possession.

Twilight and I sent our letters like an hour or so ago and yet I already got a reply along with a book. I read the reply careful eyes as I dashed across the lines of text in hopes that it would carry something I could use. So Celestia won't help me with my decision on whether or not I should stay.

With a sigh, I took the letter and placed it in my pocket. With my other hand, I held the book flipped it around. According to Celestia, my magic is older than her and this book is the only record she has on it. Said book was in great condition despite that supposedly was created long ago. At least the cover was. On closer expectation, the yellowed pages themselves showed their true age. With a quiet thud, I closed the book and placed it in my cloak's pocket. I'll have to look at when I get back home right now I need to...

Why did I come out here again?

I know I left the library to get something from town but what was it...right Twilight needed something and she was pretty adamant about me getting it. It felt like she...wanted me out of the library...wait a fucken' moment.

A frown settled on my face as I realized why Twilight wanted me out of the library. I turned my upper body around to look at the direction of the library. "It has been a while, I should have expected this," I muttered as I turned the rest of my body around and headed towards Golden Oaks. "To be honest I'm surprised that it's taken her this long," I continued to mutter, "I was expecting this to happen much sooner, I wonder why the delay."

Celestia had begun to lower the sun and an orange glow was cast onto the sky. At the same time, Luna began to draw the stars on the early night sky. Content began to settle within me which gave way to the breeze of soulful ease. The chains of worry and stress slipped off as the cheery melody entered to play. Without thinking my hooves began to tap into the beat of the song. My body soon began to follow.

Dance like no one is watching.

I began to embody that proverb, even though I never dance as I couldn't dance, but for some reason, at that moment I didn't care. The beauty of the Alicorn Sister's celestial dance enraptured me with its beauty. My inner artist couldn't be silenced, no longer denied by society's need for normalcy.

Besides most of the residence had already turned in for the night. So no one was watching me.

The song carried me towards the Golden Oaks Libary and just as it died down I looked up to see Luna's moon in all of its full glory. I couldn't help but wonder how Luna was doing. With a small smile and a salute to the moon I turned towards the library, "I'm sure she is doing just fine."

Now that my attention was back on the here and now I looked at the library and saw that all of the lights were out. There wasn't even a flicker from Twilight's candle that she used for her late-night study sessions. This confirmed my suspicions.

So she finally did it then. Well then...

My lips split in half into a smile, "I guess I shouldn't disappoint her hehe... but then again I can't let such an opportune moment slip by."

With a dark chuckle, I silently dashed around the back making sure that I stayed to the darknesses. Like a shadow, I slipped towards the back door of the library. I bite the inside of my cheek to make sure that I didn't let out a crackle. With years of practice of moving around an old creaky house late at night, I slowly turned the door handle and opened the door. I kept moving ever so gently into the library before I closed the door quietly.

With deliberate, soft steps I maneuvered through the kitchen until I was in the doorway of the main room. What little light that was cast from the moon I was able to see that there were at least eight possibly nine blob-like shapes scattered throughout the room. I looked around and spotted one behind the couch. My smile grew as I made my way over to the unsuspecting pony and crouched next to it.

"Where is he!" the pony next to me hissed. The high pitch of the voice immediately pointed out that the pony next to me was nonother than Pinkie Pie. Deciding to play along I whispered to her.

"Where's who?"

"Sean," Pinkie told me, "He was just right outside the library wasn't he Twilight?"

"Yes!" came Twilight's whispered yell from the other side of the room.

"Why are we hiding?" I asked as I fought back the laughter. This is ridiculous. How has she not notice that the very person who she was waiting for was right next to her?

Pinkie let out a huff, "It's his 'Welcome to Ponyville Surprise Party' duh!" She then let out a snort, "It wouldn't be a surprise if we didn't hide and yell out 'Surprise!' when he comes."

Let out a hum, before I turned to look at her, "That is true, but there is a slight problem with that."

"What?" it was then that a pair of bright blue eyes met mine. How they were that reflective in this limited light, I have no idea. But the eyes widen in shock.

"SURPRISE!!" I yelled out causing the pink pony to shoot up into the air.

The lights flashed on and I was temporarily blinded before my eyes adjusted. My eyesight returned just in time for me to catch Pinkie before she hit the ground.

"You know, if I didn't know any better I'd say your falling for me," I told her with my eyebrows wiggling.

Pinkie looked at me with a shocked expression, "You surprised me..." she trailed off, "At your surprise party..." she then slumped in my arms. "Nopony has ever done that before..." Her mouth began to open and close as she tried to imitate a goldfish.

I shrugged my shoulders, "First time for everything," I told her. My voice seemed to snap her back to reality as she looked into my eyes. There a small spark behind those bright blues eyes before Pinkie's face began to take on darker shade before she covered her face with her front legs. The party pony then leaped out of my arms and zoomed away.

With a raised eyebrow I looked around to see who was there at my party. All of the Mane Six were there as well as Spike, no surprise there, but Lyra and Bon Bon's appearance was a surprise. When Lyra's eyes met mine the aquamarine unicorn zipped over to me and squealed. As I let out a nervous chuckle Pinkie Pie bounced back into the fray seemingly recovered from whatever shook her earlier. I guess no one has ever got the drop on her.

...Please don't go crazy...

"LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!" Pinkie screamed out as she bounced around and some low key pop music. With that declaration, the party began in full swing.

The music started to grate on my nerves from the get-go. It wasn't horrendous per se just not my cup of tea. I'm sure it might be nice for like a preteen for an introduction into music but yea...not that great. The beat was simplistic and cords just there. The song lacked any passion or love. Jeez, it didn't even have any bass! COME ON!! But whatever, I'm not going to tell anyone about my...distaste. Besides Pinkie went out of her way to make this party who am I to tell her that the music wasn't to my taste, or that I'm not a fan of parties.

Well, at least the crowd is small.

"Drink up!" Pinkie exclaimed at me and I looked at her before I looked at my human hand to see that there was a cup of punch in it.

What the fuck?! How did she put that there without my knowing?

My mind was unable to comprehend the drop of awareness as I took the punch and drank it down. The taste of berries and apples washed down my throat in a pleasant manner. I hummed in satisfaction as I took another swig.

Not bad, considering that it appeared out of fucking nowhere. I guess the breaking of reality gave it a nice little kick of flavor. But how did she...

Don't think about it, its Pinkie.

I can't help it!! This bitch makes no sense!

Do you want to lose your SANITY!!!

I already lost it remember!!!

...

Punch is good.

Yes it is.

The party continued and began to pick up in pace. Normally I would have dipped out or stayed far away from the main group but because this party was about me and since everyone knew me it made my normal movements dead on arrival. The biggest perpetrator was Lyra. To be fair she wasn't doing anything wrong or annoying, she was just trying to ask questions about humans and my home.

"Please~," Lyra whined at me as she pawed at my legs, "Just one question."

You little crack addict.

"I'm still a bit tired," I told her to which she whimpered and began to use a pony's natural weapon.

The 'Puppy Dog' look.

It's such a shame that I have built an immunity for such things. My mind is too strong to broken by such cuteness.

Oh good god, she's trembling her lips now.

"How about we set up another Q and A," I offered just to get her to stop with this cringy display, "Perhaps sometime next week?" I rolled my shoulders, "I'm going to need a day or two to recover from my tussle with the dragon."

Lyra's eyes snapped to shock. "Oh my gosh!" she exclaimed as her front hooves shot to her lips, "I am so sorry I completely forgot that!" The unicorn then wrapped her arms around my waist.

She touching me!!!

I reached down and patted her head, "It's alright," I told her as my hands snapped to my chest. My body began to wiggle a bit as I tried to restrain from spazzing out and forcibly separating us.

Breath Sean it's alright, it is just a hug. It is just a hug, it is just a hug, it is just a hug.

As I repeated this mantra in my head slowly my body began to normalize and my mind relax.

Damn, I have some issues. Come on man get your shit together.

Now that I wasn't freaking out, I could feel the warmth from the hug. Gradually I began to pet her and enjoy this feeling. Unconsciously I began to scratch the back of her ears. Lyra became mushed as she limply leaned against me with a string of coos murmured out of her mouth. Slowly I looked down at my fingers with wide eyes.

These things are fucking dangerous.

Mwahahaha I can conquer Equestria with my fingers, and once I rule Equestria, THE WORLD WILL BE MINE!!!!

....right.

A smirk pulled at my lips as I reached down and picked up Lyra, whos tongue rolled out by now before I carried her to the nearest chair. Gently I put the pony down and left the pony there. I was about to walk away when a pair of aquamarine hooves snatched my arm and pulled me towards it.

I cocked my head at the pony and stared at her. When I tried to pull my arm free Lyra began to use the puppy dog eyes.

Yea shut that shit down right now.

"Later," I told her as I continued to pull my arm free. Lyra then began to add a tremble to her lips. With a sigh, I added, "I promise later okay."

Lyra let out a whine but released my hand and allowed me to go. Another sigh later I looked around to searched the room for Bon Bon. I wanted to nail her down and interrogate her on why Celestia has her trailing me, and what Celestia has told her and vis versa.

Oh yes, I didn't forget about that fact at all, but I have not been able to find the earth pony following me or any other sleuth like actions. Meaning she's extremely good at her job, or she not alone.

Ah! There she is, talking to Twilight. Hmm, I wonder if she's trying to get her in on this. What if she already is? What if they're all in on it!?! Why do I feel like I'm just a pawn in someone's game? Who's game?! Why me!?

Like a broken rubber band the worries snapped and a soothing calm washed over me.

Okay, I need to relax, take a deep breath, and think about this clearly. After a deep breath, I went over all the details of my current situation, again.

One, I accidentally tripped into Equestria and found myself in the Castle of the Two Sisters.

Two, While exploring said castle I came across an object that for some reason Celetsta left there. Said object placed some kind of spell or curse on me that is slowly turning me into a pony.

Three, Celestia finds me after I was spotted in Ponyville and allows me to stay in the castle despite her better judgment. She tells me that she'll have Twilight find a counter to the spell while she makes preparations for sending me back home.

Four, I find the Tree of Harmony which gives me a stick so it could see the world, and there I also met someone who wants to remove me because I am going to upset the balance of things.

Five, I can use an ancient form of magic to which Celestia just so happens to have a how-to manual translated for me. It seems a little convenient but then again I don't know what magic can do. What are the limits?

With these points in mind, the question remains, who can I trust?

Obviously the pony in the cloak is a no, fucker wants to kill me. So fuck that noise. The Mane Six and Spike I think I can trust I doubt that Celestia would use them against me, but then again how well do I know her? Celestia hasn't openly given me any reason not to trust her, and I can't help but feel that she's hiding something. What about Harmony? Is it influencing me to get me to stay? But why? I can't see Celestia using me. I trust her...

Do you trust her or is it because you don’t want her to be dishonest.

The cooing of Harmony reverberated in my mind.

What are you on about? What do you expect me to be? I don't know you! I don't know what you are cable of. You haven't given me any answers except for that it all make sense in time and other cryptic answers. For all, I know you could have lied about seeing the world and just want to use me for something. How can I trust you?

There was a whimper and a small tingle before there was silence.

Great, I made a tree cry. No, not just any tree but THE TREE. How am I going to fix this?

You're not at fault...

I know, but I hate making people sad.

...its a tree.

Piss off.

"HIYA!" Pinkie screeched as she bounced into my eyes.

Still, under the influence of my paranoia, I uttered a lackluster, "Hey." The party pony immediately picked up on my mood.

"I'm sorry," she said as she scuffed her hoof on the wooden floor of the library, "I invited more ponies but only they showed up." She looked around at the party-goers and each one had a smile on as they enjoyed themselves. I need to smile to not make anyone worry about me.

My lips pulled upwards, "Don't worry, this is fine," I told Pinkie, "I'm not a fan of parties anyway." I watched as Pinkie looked at me with a cocked head. "Large crowds and I don't mix all that well, so I'm glad that things worked out this way."

Pinkie narrowed her eyes at me as her head inched towards mine. Wary, I slowly pulled my head away as her head got closer. Eventually, I ran out of the room and the back of my head hit the wall. Pinkie still inched her towards me until we were just centimeters apart. "Can I help you?" I said with wide eyes and an irritated tone at the blatant violation of personal space.

The pink menace narrowed her eyes at me. "You've never had a party, have you..."

How the fuck did she find that out...?

"No...never had a...reason to...," I mumbled out and Pikie let out a shocked gasp.

"NOT EVEN A BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!" she exclaimed and I recoiled.

I quickly became aware that I was starting to become the center of people's attention. My eyes zipped around the room and saw that everyone was looking at us. When I gave the room a once over I looked at the shocked pink pony who was imitating a goldfish.

"If I say yes will you leave me alone?" I asked with a rumble of desperation.

Pinkie Pie jumped up and flung her arms around my neck and held me close, "Don't worry I'll give you the best birthday party ever!" she said before she buried her head into my neck. "I'll make it so special that it will make up for every single birthday."

"Uh...you don't-"

Pinkie pulled back, "Every. Single. One." she said with a dead serious look in her eyes as began to poke me in the chest with every word.

"Ok...." I muttered.

The enigma of a pony dropped her solemn glare and instantly replaced it with a bubble smile. "Great!" she exclaimed as she let go and fell to the floor. When she hit the ground she bounced up and said, "Just you wait, it's going to be the best party ever!!" With that Pinkie bounced away.

Relived that the interaction was over I slumped and let loose a sigh of relief.

Only for PInkie Pie to appear in my face.

"Jesus Christ," I sputtered before I glared at the pony. "Don't do that to me!"

"You don't need to put on a fake smile," she pointed at my lips, "You should only smile if you are happy otherwise it doesn't make anypony feel good, especially you."

What the fuck is all this shit?! When did she become deep and wise?

Pinkie then bounced away singing away, "Lalalala~"

On second thought...maybe not.

How long has it been?

I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone to look at the time.

It's almost 9: 30 I guess I could dip out now. The party seems to be winding down now with only a few of the Mane Six still around or awake.

Silently I moved towards my room when I paused.

I should thank Pinkie before go at the very least.

With a tired gaze, a looked around the and spotted Pinkie slumped on the couch. A small smile pulled at my lips.

Perhaps another time then.

I moved to go to my room when a small cough gave me pause. Slowly I turned to the owner of the cough to see Rarity holder herself up with the grace of a noble lady. "Yes?" I said with the smile still on my lips.

The unicorn raised her hoof in a dainty fashion and rested it on her fluffy chest. "I see the current condition of your cloak darling," Rarity said as she moved the hoof from her chest to point at the tears. I lifted the cloak and see that there were, indeed, tears, and holes almost everywhere.

"Uh...sorry," I muttered as I lowered my arms.

"Pish-posh my dear," Rarity said with a wave of her hoof, "Considering the circumstances I can't fault you for damaging it." The tips of my cloak began to glow a turquoise and floated towards Rarity, who then looked at it in a scrutinizing manner. "I'll need to make your new one out of tougher material it seems."

I raised my hand and opened my mouth to tell her that she didn't have to when she cut me off.

"Now, now darling," she said releasing my cloak from her gasp, "I won't hear it all."

The unicorn then turned away and began to walk away, "I expect to see you at my shop at your earliest convenience to get it to fix," Rarity then turned to look at me with a glint of mirth, "I won't take a no for an answer now." Without another word or a chance for me to counter her in any way, Rarity left the library.

With a sigh that turned to a chuckle, I turned toward my room, "You ponies are something else," I muttered to myself as I delved into the darkness of my room before I could be sidetracked again. I wanted to get some reading done before I went to bed after all...
