Chapter 13: Letter to the Princess

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

Dear Princess Celestia,

I am happy to report that the dragon has departed our fair county and that it was my good friend Fluttershy who convinced him to go. This adventure has taught me to never lose faith in your friends. They can be an amazing source of strength and can help you overcome even your greatest fears. Sean taught me that when he gave Fluttershy the courage that she needed to overcome her fear of the dragon.

He's interesting, to say the least. It is hard to get a reading on him, he's such an enigma. One moment he's all joking then the next he is all business. I could tell that he was afraid as we got closer to the dragon yet he still pushed on and help Fluttershy. He even stood up for her from Rainbow Dash when she began to pick on her. THEY DIDN'T HURT EACH OTHER I PROMISE!! In fact, he rushed without a second thought into the cave to save Rainbow when the dragon got angry. I thought we lost him when the dragon flicked him off the mountain but he managed to live and come back just in time to save Rarity.

Is this the power of humans? Can they just shrug off pain like that? I can study him and find out the full extent of the human capabilities if you wish. Although I do not know how accurate it'll be with his condition. On that note, I have yet made any progress on breaking the spell. The books that you have provided as given some idea, but I have yet had any headway. The translation is taken more time than I thought. I will send a full detailed report on that front later.

Always your faithful student,
Twilight Sparkle.

The Princess of Equestria had lowered the sun and retired for the night. She used this time in order to read the two letters that she received earlier that day from Twilight. Strange, but not unwanted, and if she thought about it, it's really not strange.

Celestia hummed with content before she rolled up the parchment and brought it up to her chest as she let out a sigh of relief. Relief that everything had worked out in such a way that the S.U.N corp didn't have to step in. Their report had said something similar about what had happened, even the actual visual representation of Sean's magic. Now, she had no doubt just what kind of magic he had picked up from the Tree of Harmony.

'What is your game,' she thought as she reached with her magic to the second scroll that she had received soon after the first, 'What are you planning?'.

It also bared the same mark of Twilight but once she opened it up she could tell that it wasn't Twilight who wrote this. From the splotches of ink, puncture marks, and scratched out words she could tell that it was from some one that never used a quill before. It was curious though that suddenly the writing became clear and tellable.

With a raised eyebrow the princess began to read.

Sup,

Celestia rolled her eyes as her lips pulled up.

First: pens are superior to quills.

Ah, so that explains the sudden change.

Second: I broke Twilight with my master race technology. (Found it in my jacket, must have stuck it a while ago and forgot about it.)

Today I also learned a lesson. It's not a friendship one, but it concerns my magic. I think I have an idea of how it works. The magic is somehow connected with my will and music (which is awesome by the way it's like having a radio in my head), but that's not all. I had a vision of an of unicorn. He had black fur, blue mane, orange-eyes, does he sound familiar to you? He was preparing new recruits on the basics of some kind of advanced magic. It seemed that it was ancient time, at least that was the feeling that I got. The details are a bit fuzzy right now. He didn't say what kind of magic it was but ever since I got that vision I am able to call upon the magic easier. Not perfectly mind you but it is easier than before. Do you know what kind of magic it is? I know you said it was old, but perhaps you have some books about it? If so could you send them to me so I could understand this magic? I think it has something to do with music. There is some connection, at least for me there is. When the music starts to play in my head I just get this burst of energy and power. I feel as though I could do whatever I want with it. It as if the world is my canvas. So maybe it is a catalyst?

Also, I've been thinking. We've talked this before and I know that you want Twilight to continue to search for a possible counterspell for my condition, but I've been seriously thinking. Just so you know this is just something that I've been kicking around and I haven't made a permeate decision yet.

I think that we should just rip the band-aid now and just blast me with magic and be done with all of this. Sure I won't be able to go home and that would suck ass! HA! I cant still cuss in writing. :P. That's right I went there and wrote an emoji suck it.

Right, back to my point. So yea, it is just something that I have been thinking about. Just keeping you in the loop with my thought process. I know that I'll be giving up a lot if I stay here and I would be practically starting completely over which at my age is... I guess not that hard but..eh. I still kinda torn right now and haven't really decided there are so many pros and cons to both decisions, and I just can't decide right now. I guess your home is really starting to grow on me. A part of me is dying to stay here but another part is screaming at me saying that this isn't my place to be, that I don't belong here. I don't suppose you could offer some advice.

Your Freind
Sean

P.S. If you could send me information about this armor band that'll be great. It's starting to work with me as well.

P.S.S. Don't tell Twilight about my magic just yet I want it to be a surprise.

Celestia re-read the letter three more times before her horn began to glow. With a flash of magic, a small leather-bound book appeared before her within her magical grasp. The book had runic lines etched on the main cover and a thick leather strip holding it together. A sigh of reminiscing escaped the princess before her horn flashed again. This time the book began to glow and rise a little before it lowered back. When the light died down a red hardcover book was in its place. With a hum, Celestia placed the book next to her and levitated a fresh piece of parchment along with quill and ink. A small smile graced her lips as she wrote out her reply.

Dear Sean,

While I'm irritated that you went with Twilight and her friends instead of staying at the library where it was safe. I am glad that you were, as it appears that you protected young Rarity and gave Fluttershy the needed boost to get over her fears. I am so proud of you, it is not easy to face a grown dragon.

I'm pleased that you learned a bit more about your magic, just in time I hear. The book that I've sent you contains all known knowledge of your type of magic. I had my suspicions when you first described it but now I know for sure. It is a very old form of magic one that has since been fazed out due to the evolution of magical understanding. As such, knowledge on it is sparse and hard to come by. Perhaps you can change that? It seems that you have a natural aptitude for it, please keep me updated on your progress. Don't worry I won't tell Twilight just tell me her reaction when it happens.

About your...conundrum, I'm sorry to say that I can not offer you any help on this matter. This is a major decision and only you can decide what the right path for you is. Please know that whatever you decide we will honor and support you. You have time to think about this. Just as long as you don't do anything to aggravate the spell. I'll write to Twilight and check up on her progress, although from her recent message progress has been slow. Give her time through she may still come up with an answer soon. Then you can make your decision.

Your dearest friend,

Celestia

P.S Don't you dare cuss in front of my ponies even in writing! You hear me! I will end you!

Once Celestia finished the letter she rolled it up and sealed it with her sigil. She then sent both the scroll and book with a whisp of green flame that quickly turned to smoke and flew out her window.

"I guess it has begun then," she whispered with a long look at Luna's night sky, Celestia closed her eyes and took a deep breath, "I just hope that in the end, everything will turn out okay..." Just as she finished uttering that statement a single star zipped across the sky towards Ponyville as if to point the way.

"So you gave him magic, particularly that magic," the cloaked pony spat at the Tree of Harmony, "What are you playing at? What's the end game? TELL ME!!"

The cloaked pony paced in front of the Tree of Harmony with the shadows surrounding him. They licked around him as he shifted, hissed as he clenched his teeth.

Meanwhile, on the opposite end of the spectrum, the tree stood in solidarity with the light. It pulsed with power and the sparks traveled down its chaotic contours, its statement subtle but clear.

Even in chaos, there can be order.

Harmony let out rumble into the air as if to speak on a level that was unheard. The pony understood and snorted, "You keep saying that 'He's important', yet somehow I highly doubt that," he sneered, "He's just some random human, one in eight billion, he's just a speck of dust to be blown in the wind of the grand scheme. He is not-..."

Suddenly the pony buckled under a torrent of emotions, thoughts, and visions. The force of the onslaught would eviscerate the mind of any normal mortal, but this pony was no mere mortal. He didn't come this far to fall, not now! With shaky legs, the pony stood up and pushed back with his mind. The 'attack' fell immediately as if there was no actual force behind it. Before The Tree of Harmony dropped its probe the pony in cloak did hear one thing.

DO NOT HARM HIM TEMPUS OR YOU WILL DOOM US ALL.

The pony in the cloak, Tempus, shook his head and tried to grab on to anything from the attack. He hoped that he would gain some kind of insight into why this human was so important. Unfortunately, he couldn't as everything slipped through as like a whisp. It seemed that the attack was meant to dissuade him from his plan. Tempus turned and glared at the tree. There was a slight rumble from the tree that carried a slight threat. Tempus sniffed, "I don't know why you bother with this human..." the pony lips pulled back into a sinister smile that showed a jagged line of teeth, "you never cared about the others...so why this one? It's almost as if..."

Tempus was suddenly slammed into the ground by an unknown force and try as he might he couldn't move. It was as if the planet itself was trying to consume him, crush him into nothingness. An emotion sparked in his eyes, and emotion that he has not felt in a long time.

Fear.

REMEBER YOUR PLACE, TEMPUS

The pressure was removed and Tempus rose to his hooves. His body shook from the force and trace amount of terror. Hiding that fact behind a glare, Tempus turned his glare at the Tree, "Remember yours..." he said before he vanished from the cave.

Author's Notes:

I hope y'all are at home and safe during these trying times.

Just a heads up the next few chapters will be shorter as my classes are online now and two of my jobs are essential. Therefore I have less time to work on them.

But remember...

Keep calm and pony on! :pinkiehappy:

Next Chapter: Party Time! Estimated time remaining: 2 Hours, 4 Minutes
