Celestia walk into the room and found Sunset on the hospital bed. She has made sure that she has everything she needs and have the best doctors and nurses. With medical equipments that cost millions and most could never afford to have used on them or even most hospitals be able to have. She has personally made sure all the hospital staff knows that their lives and their family lives depend on Sunset being cared for. (1)

“Why are you here?” Sunset ask.

“Came to see you,” Celestia said.

“Just took you years to finally see me,” Sunset said.

“I’m here now,” Celestia said.

“You had so much time and now that I’m on my death bed you finally came to see me,” Sunset said who is now very old and weak.

"I'm sorry for not visiting sooner," Celestia said with tears in her eyes. "But I was busy."

Sunset just glares at her.

“And that means something at this point?” Sunset ask.

“Yes, it does! If I would have come earlier maybe things wouldn't have turned out like they did. Maybe we could still be together if I came faster, but no matter how hard I tried...,” Celestia said.

“You always found something else to do then see me. You were never there when I needed you most and that's why I hate you now," Sunset said angrily.

Celestia flinches at the last sentence.

“Why can't you let go of all these negative feelings towards me? Why can't you forgive and forget?" Celestia asked.

“Because the problem is you. You rather put things off and wait and wait. Well now, I’m old and dying is when you finally came to see me. Not because you’re sorry, but because you need me,” Sunset said.

"I know what I said is not good but I'm trying my best to make up for it," Celestia said.

"That doesn't matter anymore. All that matters is that I'm dying and I refuse to help you when you had years to come to me," Sunset said.

"Please listen to me," Celestia begged.

"No! You don't get to beg me to change my mind. This is how it has to be and I will not apologize or feel bad for it," Sunset said.

“Even if all of Equestria has to suffer?” Celestia asked.

“Yes, for that’s the only way for you to learn. You are the type that has to have something horrible happen to them, like me cutting off a finger every single time you refuse to admit you’re the one who is the problem, that if you had acted when you had your chance this wouldn’t have happen,” Sunset said.

Celestia look down in shame.

"I should have known you'd say that. You're the same as me when it comes to being stubborn and self-centered," Celestia said.

“I’m just like you mom,” Sunset said.

“Did you ever think about how I felt? What kind of mother am I? How could I not realize how badly I hurt my own daughter by pushing her away?” Celestia said looking at Sunset with teary eyes.

“You don’t matter to me. You mean nothing to me. As I mean nothing to you,” Sunset said.

Celestia's eyes widened in shock.

"How can you say that after everything I've done for you?" Celestia cried.

"Because nothing you have given me is worth more than what I have lost," Sunset said.

“What is it?” Celestia ask.

“All those times you told me that you loved me and you meant it. But I knew deep down inside that you never did. You never really cared for me at all. It was just an act. All I wanted was for you to be my mother, I wanted a family, I want a childhood with a loving parent. You can’t give me that. I’m old while you are an immortal alicorn, which you refused to make me one,” Sunset said.

“You are wrong!” Celestia yell.

“No, it's true, you are the reason I turned out the way that I am. All those years you spent pushing me away, not giving me love, not caring about me, not doing anything for me. I die and the only hope for Equestria goes with me,” Sunset said as she stops breathing and the heart monitor began the long beep.

Celestia fell to her knees and start crying.

“Sunset...,” Celestia said with tears in her eyes.

“Goodbye mom,” Sunset said.

The beeps stop and Sunset lay there lifelessly.

1 - There are state of the art medical equipment that can save lots of lives in the real world. The problem is that new technology is expensive and most hospitals won’t be able to afford to have said equipment or people being able to afford to have them used on them.
