Chapter 20: Original S1E22: A Spike in the Hoof is Worth...

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

Fluttershy was tending to her animals when she realized she was late for Princess Celestia's visit to Ponyville. Princess Celestia was visiting because "why not" and story progression. She rushed out the door to her cottage but made sure to have left food for all the animals before that. Unlike her Prime Universe self, she knew her priorities quite well.

Theme.

Twilight was in the white space. She had multiple chalkboards in front of her with various different calculations written on them. Pinkie Pie and Spike then arrived on the scene. Twilight scrambled between the chalkboards and wrote new things on them. Luckily her mane wasn't frazzled.

"Hiya marefriend!" Pinkie Pie attempted to get Twilight's attention in a very familiar way.

Nothing.

"Um... Twilight?" Spike then put in his attempt.

After a few failed attempts of verbally trying to get Twilight's attention, they resorted to the sound of screeching on the chalkboard... Ouch.

"YAH! Geez! Will you cut that..." Twilight started complaining.

Twilight then realized she was in the white space, only accessible by herself, Pinkie Pie and Spike as far as she knew.

"Oh hi Pinkie Pie. Hi Spike," she greeted.

Spike and Pinkie Pie had faces of amusement for the most part.

"So Twilight~ What'cha working on?" Pinkie Pie inquired while using Spike as a hoof rest.

Twilight then had a smile on her face.

"Oh! You know how you deduced the theory of Spike being a color? Well if you looked at the title, you'll see that it has an incomplete thought about how much Spike is worth!" Twilight then poked her hoof at the top of this page, to which the reader/author promptly pushed back into the story with a perturbed look on his or her face since the story was leaking way past the fourth wall.

Twilight squee'd then finished her statement, "well, in terms of mares and fillies..."

"Huh, never thought of that. But couldn't you just look at the ever changing notes on this story? Like perhaps the Guidebook?" Pinkie Pie made a very good point.

"Well, the thing is that the author keeps thinking of new ideas to throw in this story and changes the Guidebook every so often, so maybe a calculation will solve this! And hey, it will show us if we have new friends incoming~" Twilight excitedly clapped her front hooves together.

Pinkie Pie let the thought settle in and made an even more genius point.

"But... the author is writing this story about your calculation... which is a paradox in itself," Pinkie seriously commented with a raised eyebrow.

Luckily, that statement didn't cause the whole story to collapse into a singularity. The author has a story to write after all.

"Huh... Okay then... I think we have an Episode to get to..." Twilight shoved all the chalkboards aside after reading those previous two sentences.

They all exited via a door in the white space into Sugarcube Corner. Pinkie Pie went to her post in the shop while Twilight followed the script and went to let Fluttershy past the guards who were there since... royalty.

It was then that Fluttershy saw Philomena, Princess Celestia's pet bird, in less than perfect condition. Like any reasonable animal pony would do which unfortunately doesn't include Prime Universe Fluttershy, she immediately zipped up to the Princess and inquired about why in her right mind would she let the bird be in such a state.

"Um, Princess Celestia? If it isn't to much to ask... but... um... your pet bird... doesn't look so good right now," was Fluttershy's inquiry.

"Oh? Philomena?" Celestia chuckled, "she's a phoenix just reaching the end of her life cycle and preparing for reincarnation. No, she won't die, everything is quite alright there... Fluttershy was it?"

Fluttershy nodded with a neutral face. She knew better than to question the ruler of Equestria who has lived for at least a definite 1000 years, and then went off to do other things. She was quite interested in watching the reincarnation though.

*Record Scratch*

It was then that Twilight, Spike and Pinkie Pie glanced at their respective scripts for this Episode and then tore all the copies up and burned it... in a civilized manner of course.

So much for the Episode...

The rest of the Princess's visit went quite smoothly after that. Interestingly enough, compared to the original script, the rest of the Mane 6 behaved quite nicely and had impeccable table manners which threw Twilight, Pinkie Pie and Spike off even more since this Episode was not turning out the way they originally thought the author would have written it. What made things even stranger was the fact that the Cutie Mark Crusaders who were also attending because "no pony should be left out of the story" were also quite well behaved, but of course as any group of young fillies would be, they had so many questions to ask Princess Celestia to which she answered all of them so well that the Crusaders were left speechless.

This caused Twilight, Spike and Pinkie Pie to look at the camera, as if asking the author as to why the events of this Episode don't match what they have written on their notes.

Meanwhile, the author just shrugged his shoulders trying not to make the already escalating paradox any worse.

As the visit continued, Philomena did reincarnate, to which Fluttershy watched with dilate eyes and awe as Celestia just held back another chuckle.

In the words of Rainbow Dash, that was cool. Yay.

Another thing that happened during the visitation was Twilight asking Princess Celestia if it was possible that the Cutie Mark Crusaders could get tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala. Princess Celestia of course totally agreed citing, "the Gala is quite boring anyways and could use some livening up," as her reason and got the tickets to Twilight in a timely manner.

When the visitation finished, outside of Ponyville Square, Princess Celestia personally thanked the Mane 6, Cutie Mark Crusaders and Spike for the wonderful treatment and bid farewell saying that she'll be looking forward to seeing them at the Gala later this year. She then left via chariot.

Well, that was anticlimactic.

The Mane 6, Cutie Mark Crusaders and Spike all went back to Sugarcube Corner to clean up and get some well needed rest.

End Theme with Credits.

Back in the white space, Twilight finished her calculation on how much a Spike in the hoof is worth and now had a half-smile on her face.

"So Twilight, any conclusive answer to how much me in a hoof is worth?" Spike inquires as he and Pinkie Pie enter the scene.

"Hmm... Unfortunately no, but when I did an approximation... I got seven mares and three fillies," Twilight responded with uncertainty in her voice while pointing out the words "7 mares and 3 fillies" that she wrote on one of the chalkboards.

"Wait seven? But... that means the Elements of Harmony aren't the only ones involved!" Spike's surprise was apparent, "who could it possibly be?"

Twilight just shrugged, "Dunno."

Spike then had to leave as he had a date with Rarity and Fluttershy. Twilight and Pinkie Pie bid farewell to Spike as he exited the white space. When the white space door closed, Twilight let out a big gush of air.

"Whew! That was convenient. Pinkie Pie~ Turns out I was able to deduce a name for the 7th mare~" Twilight happily chirped.

"Oh? Is that why that scene was put into this Episode? Well... Who is it!" Pinkie commented then resumed her hyper attitude.

Twilight grabbed one of the chalkboards and with a piece of chalk wrote out the letters "C-O-C-O P-O-M-M-E-L".

"Coco Pommel? That sounds like one of the products we serve at Sugarcube Corner," Pinkie matter-of-factly commented.

"*cough* That's cocoa Pinkie... but yeah, I think we should definitely keep a look out for her, she seems important," Twilight finished, "anyways, I think our time here in this Episode is up."

"See you in the next Episode~!" Pinkie chirped.

Twilight and Pinkie Pie waved at the camera as their usual farewell. Meanwhile, behind them where Twilight had written her approximation of 7 mares and 3 fillies, question marks appeared next to the 7 and the 3.

Sudden Transition.

Coco Pommel shot awake.

Well, that was strange. There the dragon was again, and who were those two mares talking about me? Why do I get the feeling that what I just dreamed actually happened? I also have the weirdest feeling that I'm about to meet them soon.

Coco Pommel then just pondered what that was all about. She wasn't exactly in the best mood considering that dragon was unbelievably adorable and she really wanted to meet him. She was convinced this dream and the one about Manehatten's flooding were quite real, as if some force was telling her that these two dreams are of utmost importance. (*cough cough* Me.)

The last thought that Coco Pommel had before she went to sleep finally was...

Wait... Episode? *Zzz...*
