The Start of Something
Chapter 9: 9. Suprising Revelations
Previous Chapter Next ChapterI’ve had multiple problems since I arrived here. I had to escape two different houses, evade a flying pony twice, find a place to sleep and lastly, I’ve had to run for my life. For 28 hours. Away from 5 ponies who are trying to catch me. But in the past 2 hours, I’ve started questioning myself again. Why am I here? What should I do? Where can I go? The only thing I knew was that I was some sort of rare animal who shouldn’t be here.
But now, they’ve found me. Again…
... ... ... ... ...
I shut the doors to the balcony immediately. Surely, they wouldn’t break in whilst some pony was inside. I was relieved for the first time in what seemed years. I calmly strolled back into the main room only to be greeted by the hyperactive pink pony that I believed to be the first friend I’d made.
‘Hiya, Friend. What are you doing at Twilight’s House?’ I was honestly starting to like her. She’s everything I’d want to be to cope with a situation like this. But how had she gotten into the house? Had Twilight let her in?
‘Oh, I see you know each other’ the purple unicorn stated, surprised, ‘Well, I guess there’s no need for introductions.’
‘Nope. I can’t wait. We’re gonna have some cupcakes and some cake…Oh, and some donuts.’
‘Pinkie.’ The voice came out of nowhere, but it felt familiar.
‘Oh, I never threw you a party. I’m gonna throw you the most super-duper party ever.’
‘Pinkie!’
‘What do you like most? Cake? Cupcakes? Donuts? Let’s have all of them! Yaaay!’
‘Pinkie!!!’
‘Rarity. Do you wanna come? It’s gonna be fun!’ The marshmallow pony suddenly came into sight. She seemed less obsessive for some reason.
‘Deary, please calm down. I would like to talk to our friend here.’ She pointed towards me and the very confused look on my muzzle. She walked over, almost like a model. She lowered herself to see eye to eye with me.
‘I’m sorry about the way I acted. I was getting all fused up over your coat; I wasn’t acting very lady like at all.’ This sentence just left me with an even more confused look on my face.
‘Rarity. Pinkie.’ The purple unicorn finally pitched in again to settle the confusion, ‘I think you should both know something. ’He’s a fox. There aren’t many foxes in Equestria, let alone the Ponyville. He is one of an estimated 70 left in the forests of Equestria. I don’t think we have a choice except getting him back to where he belongs.’
I didn’t know much at all about this place, but I didn’t want to leave for a completely different place. It used all the cuteness I could muster. I pouted and my eyes went as wide as Pinkie’s. Rarity squeed and even Spike’s jaw dropped slightly.
‘Awww…. Twilight, you can’t be serious.’ The dragon had spoken, apparently protecting me, ‘He’s probably scared to death. We shouldn’t just ship him off to some forest because a book said so. Just look at him’
‘But Spike…Rarity, Pinkie. Back me up on this.’
It wasn’t just me anymore. The two other ponies and the dragon were pouting too. They obviously wanted to keep me around. For the first time, I actually had friends in Ponyville.
‘Not you girls too.’ Twilight was starting to look sad, or at least weakened by the cuteness…‘Fine…’
‘Yay!’
‘…but he has to stay with Spike. I guess he’s your pet.’ I didn’t like the term pet but I guessed I could do worse.
‘That’s fine with me; it’ll be nice to have a pet.’ The dragon was smirking again. Finally, everyone was happy. Except…
Knock, Knock, Knock.
‘Visitors. Spike, get the door please.’ My heart sank. I’d forgotten about the other three ponies. I whimpered as I saw the yellow pony, Fluttershy, walk into the room. Rarity squeed again while Pinkie welcomed everybody. I was slowly backing out of the room until I made a mistake.
Actually two mistakes. Eye contact.
At first, both I and Fluttershy stared at each other. We wanted to know who’d make the first move. We both walked forward. We both stopped. We were reading each other’s minds. Nothing was coming between us. I had this one opportunity where she wouldn’t try to harm me. Not in front of her friends. Our friends.
‘Do you two know each other, by any chance?’ the marshmallow pony was the one who broke the silence. The 3 ponies and the dragon in the room were staring at the on-going competition between Fox and Pony. We’d slowly shuffled our way towards each other and ended up being eye to eye, nose to nose. The tension was as thick as butter. That was until a very inappropriate comment from a certain Rainbow-mane pony.
‘Are you gonna kiss or what?’ Rainbow Dash had chuckled. It wasn’t funny. And it wasn’t just me thinking that. All 12 pairs of eyes were staring at her with synchronised looks each saying the message, ‘Really?’
But although this was happening, she was looking at me. She instantly started to walk over to me. Of all the ponies I’d met, she was the most arrogant.
‘Miss me, did you?’ She sneered. She didn’t look happy at all.
‘You nearly killed me. Twice. Just today. What’s it gonna be tomorrow? Eh? A banana’s peel for me to slip on? Sneezing powder?’
I snarled and growled. She did the same. But it took one thing for that tension to break. A quiet whimpering, the sort that would come for a scared little foal. I pounced, she pounced. She flew backwards, I flew backwards. Straight into the ceiling. Surrounded by the same purple aura that came from Twilight.
She held me still whilst the orange pony from the barn was holding Rainbow Dash down.
‘Let me go, AJ. I’m gonna tear this thing a new plot hole.’
‘Ah reckon that wouldn’t a good idea. Especially since it’s got sharper claws than an owl.’
Twilight sighed; even I knew Owls had talons, not claws. But with that one sigh, her concentration broke and the purple aura that was holding me was disappearing. I was free. But I was falling since I had been practically stuck to the ceiling. I heard a scream (a very quiet one). I was losing consciousness and was probably going to at least crack a rib. But before anything else happened a white flash appeared out of nowhere, it turned violet and blue. Finally, it hit black….
