11. New Name and Voice

Many things can be misunderstood. Knocking over someone’s drink. Not hearing someone call. Others may believe you have done something on purpose instead of accidentally. Just a simple thought can lead you in the wrong direction. Any pony can misinterpret something, just like any pony can be misinterpreted.

The problems I seem to have always come from some pony misunderstanding my intentions or me misreading some pony’s mood. I know that it’s not their intentions some of the time, but they can really punish you over the little things, especially when you’re paranoid and make the mistakes all by yourself.

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

‘What?’ I proclaimed as I stood on all four paws, ‘What are you all staring at?’

‘You’ squeaked Rarity, ‘You can speak?’

‘Of course I- Oh, you’re right.’ I was about to moan but realised she was telling the truth. I could finally speak. I could chat, I could ask, I could tell. I should tell. I will tell.

‘Wow. That’s so cool. I wish I could- oh, wait. I can speak. Yay.’ screamed Pinkie Pie. I laughed at Pinkie’s randomness, I could laugh too! I was leaping with joy until I realised Twilight wasn’t standing, but lying, almost crying.

‘Twilight?’ I stopped my Pinkie impression and gave a look of concern, ‘Are you okay?’

‘No. I performed the wrong spell. I could have killed you and I nearly hurt myself.’

‘You didn’t though. And look, you gave me a voice. That’s better than stopping me fall a foot or two.’ I was lying; I knew I’d fallen at least 7 feet. But I couldn’t let her be depressed, ‘Come on, I’ll help you up.’ I held out a paw, for her to pull herself up. She took the paw and pulled. She pulled weakly at first so I decided to give the extra effort, that’s when she actually pulled. As I fell backwards, she flew up into the air (about a foot) and came down with what I expected to be a thud but ended up being me going ‘oomph’. She’d fallen on top of me with crossed bodies.

‘Sorry. I guess I don’t know my own strength.’ She smiled, at least she was happier. I smiled back to reassure her. We giggled and turned to see all 5 ponies and 1 dragon staring at us again.

‘Do you guys have a habit of staring or what?’ I joked. They sighed and turned, almost synchronised with each other.

‘Can I ask your name?’ Twilight asked. My name? I didn’t know my name. I didn’t know what to call myself. I looked around for any stimulus. I decided to make a name from the first thing I saw. The moon. But I couldn’t say my name was moon though. So I made a split decision, I went with the first moon-related thing I could think of.

‘I’m …Lunar’ I stuttered with hope after an obvious moment had past. She looked taken back by the name. Did she recognise it? Did she know it was fake? ‘I was born on a full moon, just as a wolf howled.’ I lied. Luckily, she seemed to believe it and continue with the conversation.

‘So, Lunar. How’d you meet all my friends?’
