6 Friends and Luck (New Version)
Chapter 37: 14 Days in a Minecraft Wilderness
Previous Chapter Next ChapterDespite my desperate need for sleep I got up and was handed a sword. Nico ran back into the house and closed the door practically on Mike; Mike quickly pushed the door open and slammed it behind him.
“What’s happening?’”
“Look outside” Mike said, I looked through the small opening in the door, outside I could see something alright, I saw a pack of giant spiders. Each of them almost bigger than a pony, they all had 8 hairy black legs and had a massive amount of eyes all about the size of red olives.
“Someone go out and kill those things” Harrison said
“Why can’t we just stay in here?” Mike asked, anxiously looking all around the room. If we had gotten sand we could have made some windows, but sadly we had been preoccupied with other things. It was hard to tell how many spiders there were, but from the sound outside I could guess anywhere from a shit few to a shit ton. That’s a good estimate, right?
Okay how do we do this?
Then I heard the groan again and cringed, must be a zombie. Or a zombpony? It had to be zombpony
“Zombpony” Dan said “Does that mean there are skeleponies?”
“Shouldn’t it just still be zombie? It’s not like zombiemen or something, it’s just zombie” Tyler said
“Good question” I said “Okay everyone just rush out and kill them, okay?”
“Why can’t we stay here!?” Mike asked
“Well if a creeper pony comes here then we are literally fucked” Dan said “I say we go out and get them”
“Aye” Harrison said in a Scottish accent.
“Fine we haven’t killed anything in like…2 days anyways” Mike said, Nico gave a nod
“You guys do that, im going to just wait it out” Tyler said
“Pussy” Everyone shouted in unison
The squeaks of the spiders interrupted us, there had to be a ton of them out here.
“Ready?” Harrison asked
“Okay guys you have fun with that” Tyler said, heading over to his cot plopping down onto it.
“Fine, whatever” Harrison said
“CHARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!’
The door slammed open, Dan lead the way, stone sword in hand but all we saw was a single spider, then I realized it wasn’t a spider, it was a BEAVER! Nah im just joking, it was actually a spider.
“What the?” Dan asked, then a giant black cannonball landed right on Dan followed by a couple more
“THE FAGGOTS ARE ON THE ROOF!” Dan said before getting nipped by one, fortunately Nico was the greatest white soccer player in history and kicked that spider like a soccer ball. I swung my stone sword at a spider, knocking it off balance. The stone swords were not deadly sharp but still dangerous when enough force was applied, the heaviness of the sword also seemed to help, ever wonder what a melon looks like when it is slammed with a sledgehammer? Now imagine if that Sledgehammer was sharp.
Several more of the furry things landed from the roof, it wasn’t exactly difficult to dispatch of the spider, a couple swings of our hefty stone swords and the things would fall on their back and curl up like a normal spider would do.
Before long we had gained 7 wool from 4 spiders, we could make bows now if we wanted to but there was something far more troubling.
A arrow shot out, narrowly hitting me, it lodged itself in our cobble wall.
“Skeleton!” Harrison said, he quickly grabbed the string from Conor and ran into the house, a moment later he came ut with a bow and yanked the arrow from our wall. He pulled back the string and shot the arrow straight towards the attacker, the skeleton came into full visibility from behind a tree, lurched forward and died.
“Jesus Harrison you know your Minecraft” I said
“Yup”
Just as Harrison gave out that proud “Yup” half the house exploded. I quickly shielded my eyes to protect them from giant blocks of cobblestone, something had blown up the cobble walls.
“Well at leastly the roof is-“ Then the roof landed right on Harrison, and killed him. Dead.
“O SHIT!” Nico said, we had lost Harrison, and this time he was actually useful!
“Dude this green thing ran into the wall” Tyler said
“A creeper?” Dan asked
“Yea”
I looked around, 3 of our 4 walls were destroyed or seriously damaged, the chest had exploded and its content: a couple stone pickaxes, our last chicken, some cobblestone, a couple sticks, and a sapling, were all destroyed in the explosion or crushed by the roof. We looked around and scanned the area, there was no sign of any other enemies, but we could still hear the zombpony moans. We quickly did what we could and rebuilt the walls with what we could; using what remained of the wood that was once the roof to make quick walls. We even grabbed some dirt from outside to fix up the walls. We had lost all of the equipment in the chest and some of our floor and our roof were gone, but we still had walls and the beds.
Then it began to rain, that sucked.
We didn’t have much time, even though it was dangerous to work outside Nico and Dan punched a tree until they could make a wooden pickaxe, using Conor as a guard they managed to dig up plenty of cobble stone, we quickly used that to patch up the roof, the floor was soggy and littered with small debris and dirt but at leastly it wouldn’t be wet for long. I couldn’t help but notice that Harrison had been keeping a small book he had put right on the chest; it didn’t have a lot in it. Just several entries about where there could be caves, where Ponyville might be, any point of interests, and a lot of doodles of kittens. I quickly took it and took 1 of several pencils, might as well use it well.
Day 1: The next day we were not very well off. We were all hungry but had no food, I found a couple pigs and killed them with a sword, Dan found a couple coal in the cave and we were able to cook them. Tyler also came up with the idea of fishing in the small lake, although it was no smaller than a regular pool, it seemed possible that there could be food. Using some of our last string Tyler made a fishing pole, fortunately it was worth it and he found 4 fish, our food problem was solved…for now.
Day 3: It didn’t take long for us to find out where the zombpony groan was coming from, while mining for more cobblestone, Dan accidentally hit into a small cavern, somehow…there was a mob spawner down there. Dan killed a couple but they quickly got out of there cobble holding cell and flooded the cave, we boarded the cave up with some dirt but we had lost our only cobble mine. Mike, Tyler, and Dan took the rest of the day
Day 4: We went hunting again and found another batch of pigs, sadly for most of the day we didn’t have any coal and we were forced to eat them raw, 15 minutes after we finished up Nico found our first batch of coal, timing huh?
Day 5: The mine is nothing more than just a mimic of the cave, it had a 2 by 3 opening and went down several feet until it reached cobblestone. Luckily though, while mining, Nico found a batch of 3 iron. We had no clue on what to do with the iron, so we just smelted it and kept it in the chest (Which we had reconstructed). Sadly no matter what we did it almost felt like we were being starved of cobblestone. Even though the mine hit stone level, there was still an appaling amount of dirt and gravel down there. While digging Dan accidentally dug into sand from the pool, he almost drowned before he could seal the gap off, we then realized we had been mining right under the cave. We had no choice but stop, mainly because we were having luck fishing. Tyler caught another 3 today, although it was nothing like a fancy dinner at a restaurant or at Canterlot Castle, we were not starving.
Day 6: House is done. We are still having problems finding cobble, so we build everything out of wood this time. We even made a couple windows, 2 on each side; making a total of 8. We grabbed some sand from the pond and we made 8 glass, our house was finally coming together. No one knew where Harrison was, I guess the beds aren’t spawn points for him. Dan and I have been taking charge so far, mainly because we know the most about Minecraft. Mike felt a little shunned when we didn’t allow him to make any decisions, mainly because Mike doesn’t know obsidian from diamond, does that make any sense? Probably not, even with the fish we are still hungry. Every night the skeletons and spiders come back, and we are trapped inside. We haven’t found any more pigs and we are reliant on Tyler’s fish. Thankfully Conor has joined him and we used some new found string to make 2 more fishing pokes, the ones we make tend to not last long.
Day 8: We had a meeting with the mob spawner again. This time we played it smart, using some coal and sticks we made 4 torches. We charged in with our swords and killed them, Dan triumphantly put a torch on the block where they spawned (Which was a magical shimmer, was it magic? Evil wizards?) We cleared the area. Near the side was a chest. We felt like kings, we found 4 strings, 2 cooked steaks of beef, 2 pieces of iron and some cookies! Everyone got 2 cookies and we apportioned the beef with some fish for everyone. It isn’t so bad out here.
Day 9: It is bad out here. Another creeper blew up right by the lake and made a huge dent, the lake basically drained itself and became shallow. Right after that Tyler began telling us he couldn’t find a single fish, he didn’t mean catching a fish, he meant seeing any fish. We had lost the lake. It was apparent we would need a new food source, so we began to eat cobblestone. Nah im just joking that was just a dare.
Day 11: House is burned down now. While we were out mining (All 6 of us) we forgot one thing; A FUCKING GUARD. While we were frantically mining for iron (We were planning to make a farm) it was raining and thundering hard. A bolt of lightning struck a nearby tree, some embers landed on the roof of our house and most of it burnt down before we could save it. The chest was safe though thankfully. We quickly used all of our hard earned cobble to reconstruct it again, and then it began to rain again. Right after we finished the last wall a creeper exploded, we were all so tired and distraught we just gave up and went to bed.
Day 12: Fuck it I’m just going to head to Ponyville. I talked about it with the other guys and the 6 of us agreed we would leave in 2 days. We all agreed to hunt and get as much food as humanly- I mean ponyily possible. The pigs must have come back again, we found a whole herd of 6 and killed them, we would have plenty of food now. Nico also killed a rabbit, why the hell didn’t we think of that before? While we are fishing and hunting pigs there are fucking squirrels and rabbits everywhere. Man we are stupid.
Day 13: We agreed on what we would take. 3 pickaxes, 6 swords, all of our food (Duh), a flint and steal for a fire, several sticks to make a fire, an assortment of clothes (Nico, Tyler, Mike, and Conor spent the entire day salvaging the beds to make extra clothes for us, mainly anti-rain clothes), and a bucket we made. Why a bucket? So we could use it to carry water, also before we left we made 1 iron sword using the last 2 iron ingots. We all agreed Dan should take it, he was proclaimed king of Minecraft (Or Prince if you believe Harrison is still alive) and he deserved it.
Day 14: We’ve been here for 2 weeks. All that remains of our presence is a half-assed made cave, a broken down pile of rubble, some destroyed gear, a dry lake, and a couple wholes where creepers had exploded (Mainly around the house foundation, causing the wood floor to sink into the crevices at places). We had all of our gear ready and we agreed to try and find the train tracks again and follow them into Ponyville. Before we leave I think I’ll leave this journal here, mainly since we have nowhere to keep anything and all we have to carry all of our food and gear in 2 saddlebags Tyler made. Never know we might come back; wonder what future me will be doing.
I put the notebook back on the chest right where I had found it. I should bring it, but you never know Harrison might come back.
“Ready guys?” I asked. It was night, probably 9 or 10 PM, we had to use the last day to arrange everything, and we would be walking in almost near darkness.
“Lead the way Dan” Mike said
“To Narnia!” Dan said in a mock heroic voice, his newly smelt iron sword pointed out.
We had been here in Equestria for more than 3 weeks now, 23 days I believe.
Let the good times role
