Nova slowly opened the door and carefully sticked his head out in order to look for any passing ponies. Thankfully nopony was coming through this hallway, so with a bit more confidence he opened the door and left the room, in his suit and a shining yellow beacon on his head.

I think the main hall was this way. He thought and quickly trotted forward, he knew that sooner or later ponies will see him wearing this, this thing. But he liked the later version more than sooner one. That's why all colors left his muzzle as he suddenly heard some voices coming from the direction he was heading towards. Seriously?! Gala starts in couple minutes, who the hell is still going around the Castle?

In a state of panic he looked around, not sure what to do he dived in to the closest room he had access to.

He closed the door and stuck his head to the door, with his ear laying on the wooden piece that isolated him from two ponies walking through the hallway he quickly left. He listened carefully until he was sure both voices and hoofsteps were so far away that were almost non-existent. He sighed in relief and wiped his forehead from all the sweat.

He stared at the closed door with a smile on his face, that after few seconds disappeared, he felt as if somepony was watching him. It was a creepy feeling, but just a feeling, so nothing to worry about, he quickly turned around and became completely dumbfounded, as his eyes finally noticed that he in fact wasn't alone in the room, that just happened to be one of many pantrys of Canterlot Castle, this one stored with all kinds of cake, baked and ready to be served on Grand Galloping Gala.

But one pony couldn't resist taking few bites just before the whole party started, the one staring at him was noone other, than Princess Celestia herself, she stared at him holding a piece of cake with her magic, and slowly munching on a bite she took from it.

They stared at each other for few moments, Celestia slowly enjoyed her sweet meal and when she finally swallowed the last bit, she smiled and asked, "Why are you wearing a huge flashlight on your head if I may ask?"

Nova felt his cheeks become red from embarrassment, but he quickly regained his composure and asked, "How is your diet going?"

"Touché." Celestia replied and put down another slice that she was about to eat.

"And if you must know, Luna asked me to wear this, saying how this is the newest fashion amongst you, royal ponies." He said.

Celestia stared at him in confusion for few moments before she added two and two together, and suddenly started to laugh out loud.

"What?!" Nova asked a bit confused and startled as he never saw Celestia laughing this much before.

"Y-You, my dear Supernova, have been, have been—" She stopped for a second and took a big breath, "You have been pranked, oh my." Celestia finally managed to compose herself.

Nova's color once again turned from dark-blue to crimson red, as he grabbed the ridiculous hat and threw it away.

Celestia walked over to Nova and lightly tapped him on his shoulder, "Now now, don't worry it didn't look so bad." She said barely holding her laughter.

"Yeah, thanks." Nova said through gritted teeth.

"Well now, pardon my but Gala starts in few minutes and my presence in the main hall is absolutely required, see you later dear Superno—" She suddenly stopped as a corner of her eye noticed something interesting on one of the shelves, she walked up to it, her stare glued to a small box with writing on it.

She picked it up with her magic and brought closer to her muzzle 'Property of Discord, do not touch', is what the writing said.

Celestia smiled mischievously, finally she was going to somehow annoy her husband and not the other way around. She opened it and inside she found a red muffin.

She levitated it with her magic and licked her lips, Nova watching the whole thing with rising curiosity. Even Discord likes to leave best snacks for later. She thought and took a big bite out of her prey, it was delicious to say the least, flavors of all kind swam through her mouth, as she tasted strawberry, apples, oranges, bananas and a cardboard?

She spit out the last part and stared at it in confusion, she shrugged and took another bite, which this time tasted just like cardboard from the start.

She looked at the muffin completely dumbfounded, Nova walked up to her, and as his curiosity took the best of him he asked, "What's going on?"

Celestia didn't answer at first, but rather quickly picked up another cake and took a small bite.

Her already white fur turned even more pale as a terrifying truth washed down on her, this cake also tasted like a cardboard.

"Hello? Equestria to Celestia."

She finally noticed Nova staring at her, and with her lower lip shivering a bit she mumbled out, "Cakes started to taste like cardboard after I took a bite out of this." She said and pointed to the red muffin, now laying on a floor.

Nova noticed a small box on the floor and picked it up. "'Property of Discord', oh something owned by a god of chaos has unexpected effects? How peculiar."

Celestia gave him an angry stare to which he only smiled, she sighed and sat on her haunches. "I guess we both got pranked."

"At least nopony managed to see me in this stupid hat, you on the other hoof are—" He didn't finish as he noticed a death glare that Celestia was giving him, he gulped and smiled. "Yeah we both got pranked."

Once again a silence took over the room, Princess of the Sun sat there pondering, while Supernova stood nearby, after few moments Celestia stood up with mischievous smile. "Then how about we get them back?"

Nova looked at her in confusion. "What do you mean?" He asked.

"We can get some revenge dear Nova, that's what I mean."

After few moments of thinking over it, his lips formed a sly grin as he nodded, "I must say I do like the idea, how are we going to do that?"

She shook her head, "I don't know yet, but I truly am needed in the main hall, we will meet later, after the opening ceremony." She said and left the room, leaving Supernova alone with his thoughts.

'Maybe at least I will get to know my possibly future sister in law a bit better.'

Void and Adamant entered the main hall, a few minutes before the official opening thanks to the special tickets they received from Princess of the Moon herself, "See, we not only made it in time, we are early." Void said.

"Yeah right whatever." Adamant said.

Void looked around and suddenly his glare stopped at one of the ponies inside the hall, it was a mare with white fur that stood next to Princess Twilight and Octavia.

The moment he noticed Vinyl was also the moment he left the hall in rather quick manner, unbeknownst to him, she also noticed him.

After few minutes, once the musicians and other non authorized ponies left the main hall opening ceremony finally started. One after another ponies entered through main doors and were greeted by the majestic Princess Celestia herself, one baron after another, business ponies and celebrities entered the Grand Galloping Gala.

With the last guest finally making it through, Celestia sighed in relief and walked towards the ballroom, where main party was being held.

Luna took a sip out of her glass of wine, she looked around searching for her coltfriend wearing her illuminating hat, but he was nowhere to be found. With a sigh she picked up one of covers expecting to see a great salad dish, but instead of that she was greeted by Discords head with an apple held in his teeth.

She jumped in place out of initial shock and breathed quickly for few moments, in the meantime Discord's head disappeared and suddenly reappeared along with the rest of his body, next to her.

"What was that about?!" She asked a bit angry.

"Oh come on, can't you take a little joke." He said and lightly punched her in her shoulder, "So how did it go?" He asked.

She shook her head, "He said he would wear it, but I still didn't see him anywhere with it, I'm afraid he could have realized it's only a joke."

"Well too bad, I on the other claw." He said and showed her his red muffin, with bites in it.

"My sister caught the bait? Oh my I didn't expect her to actually fall for that." She chuckled, "At least she will eat a bit healthier for now."

"Indeed."

What the two of them didn't know, was that Celestia watched them from afar, standing near the entrance to the ballroom, after few moments she left and walked into the hallway, with a smile on her muzzle she noticed Supernova, waiting for her near one of the busts.

She walked pass him and Nova followed her, after few moments they walked into one of the rooms that wasn't made available for the party, so they were safe from anypony walking on them while they're making they plans.

Nova closed the doors behind him and quickly asked, "Any ideas?"

"I have quite a few actually, but none of them are good enough."

"Same here, well that's a problem."

Celestia looked into the mirror and let her tongue roll out, she stared at it trying to remember how good cakes tasted, "Ohh Discord will regret what he did."

"So will Luna." Nova added, and in silence two of them pondered and thought about all the possibilities they had, but neither of two could think of anything good enough.

"This is so frustrating," Nova thought out loud, "come on, we need one good plan."

"I've got a plan."

Their ears perked up and they looked at each other simultaneously, realizing how neither of them said that they changed their attention to the only place that this voice could have come from, a big wardrobe.

Nova walked over and quickly opened it, they both looked inside and were put in another confusion as the pony inside the wardrobe was Nova's friend, Void Night.

"Hey Nova, hello your highness sun bu—, Princess." He said.

"Okay, I never thought I will ask this but, what are you doing in a wardrobe?" Nova said.

"Chilling out."

"Chilling out?" Nova repeated.

"Yea, it's quiet here, and all."

Nova stared at his friend in confusion for few moments before giving up, he knew better when to not ask, "So what was that plan you talked about?" He asked completely ignoring the fact that Void was hiding in here, much to Celestia's surprise.

"Well, I think you should do something like this."

Adamant looked around the party, there were many mares, most of them clearly from upper crust, not really his tastes but he knew how to deal with them.

But he had another problem, noone of these great looking mares were good enough. He scratched his head as he couldn't quite place it, but suddenly every mare around was lacking something.

He shook his head 'Come on Adamant, don't be a pussy, you can do it.' he thought and walked over to the nice looking mare, with yellow fur and pink hair, her dress looked like embodiment of spring, with flowers and green color dominating the design.

"Hello there." He started.

"Oh, hi, sorry."

Adamant got a bit confused, "Sorry for what? Well never mind that, I am Adamant, and I couldn't help but notice that a beautiful mare like you stood here all alone."

"Oh, thank you," She said and blushed, "I'm Fluttershy, n-nice to meet you."

"What a nice name, I... oh forget it. Sorry." He said and quickly walked away, leaving yellow pegasus in a state of utter confusion.

Adamant walked outside into the gardens, 'I need some fresh air, he walked forward until he found himself at the center of royal gardens, near huge fountain. He sat down on the grass and sighed.

"Not doing so good with the mares?"

His ears perked up and he looked through his shoulder as Twinkle approached him, she wore a crimson red dress, a slit on both of her hind legs, showing off some of her aspects.

"Damn right, how about you."

Twinkle shook her head. "Can I join?"

"Only if you have reservation, you know this spot is really hard to get."

Twinkle chuckled and laid down next to him, they just stared forward in silence for few moments, maybe even few minutes before they both decided to stop it at the same time.

"You know—" They both said, and started to laugh.

"Ladies first."

Twinkle smiled, "Quite a few stallions already hit on me you know, they were handsome, most of them my type but, there was, something was—"

"Lacking?" He said.

She nodded.

"The same here, these mares just don't have something that I want right now, and I have no idea what I want."

"We will figure it out, don't worry." She said with a smile.

Adamant looked at her and smiled back, his ears caught a quiet but hearable sounds of music, coming from the ballroom, he stood up and offered his hoof to Twinkle.

"Could you give me an honor of dancing with you? That would be awesome."

She grinned and accepted his hoof, "With pleasure."
