“I better get going,”—Void said—“I don’t want to be late tonight.” He picked up his wallet and put it into one of his saddle bags and nodded to himself.

The night guardian left his chamber and made his way towards the entrance of the castle, he walked through the same hallways he patrolled on the nightly basis, but deep in his mind he still couldn’t help but feel awe upon seeing the countless pieces of art, paintings, sculptures and stained glasses presenting most important moments of Equestrian history.

He especially took a liking to one of the pictures, a small wooden frame held an image of his Princess proudly sitting on her throne, thousand years ago, before her banishment.

But tonight he didn’t have time to stop and contemplate about Sun Butts incompetence in stopping her own sister without sending her on forced vacations, which in his opinion took way too long.

Without any complications he arrived at the main gate, from there it was only a matter of few minutes before he would arrive at the meeting place of his date.

Void dove into the streets of Canterlot, quickly disappearing in the shadows of the buildings which hid him from the beautiful light of the moon. He passed by familiar buildings and through streets he knew very well. With few more minutes of trotting he reached his destination where he was supposed to meet with his date, the small restaurant with great view on the Canterlot park, and not so great food.

He chuckled Good thing we aren't here to eat tonight, he walked forward the doors and stopped his hoof right before touching the cold, metal handle.

“Am I nervous?” He asked almost hoping for somepony to answer him, much to his surprise he did feel something weird happening in his stomach, and after checking it also turned out that his heartrate somehow raised.

Void shook his head and took a big breath, “Of course I would be nervous, I am about to go on a date with a mare I banged, but I can’t remember it because I drugged by a pink bartender.” He commented.

“Dude, you had one hell of a night.”

Void’s ears perked up and he slowly turned around, he could literally feel his face becoming red once he saw a young, most likely teenage colt looking at him with awe in his eyes. “High hoof!” Colt shouted and raised his hoof towards the moon.

Void couldn’t quite realize what’s happening, but he raised his hoof and gave him the high hoof, to which colt smiled and trotted away. “Good luck bro!”

Night guardian stood there for few more moments, finally his hoof meet his own face breaking the silence with a hard slap sound.

“I hope Supernova is doing better than me."

“Fifty years dungeon with possibility of meeting him two times a week!” Celestia shouted, her muzzle red with anger, her lips distorted into angry scowl and her eyes burning with animosity.

Her sister, whose expression was similar to her own, gritted her teeth and shouted, “As if our coltfriend could possibly land in dungeons, thy tongue is spouting nonsense sister!”

“Fine, then how about sending him straight to the meeting with guillotine?!”

Nova gulped and raised his hooves to his throat, making sure his head is still connected to his neck.

“So, on a scale from one to ten, how screwed are you?” Discord asked munching another popcorn piece in his mouth.

“It seems that at least fourteen.”

“Or there’s an idea!”—Celestia screamed—“ten years in Tartarus!”

“I would say it’s sixteen.” Discord commented.

“Yeah, I’m sure he’s doing great.” Void said, he shook his head once more. “No more thinking about Nova and Princess, I have my own date waiting for me.

And so, night guardian pushed the handle and entered the restaurant he knew very well, food might not have been the best here but it was cheap at least, but most importantly they always served one of the best drinks in the city.

Spotting the white mare wasn’t so hard, most guests were bat ponies with a dark themed fur, she was sitting at the table near the main attraction of this place, huge window with the amazing view on Canterlot park, it was almost breathtaking during full moons as the lake in the park reflected the moonlight towards the countless flowers, making them shine in the dark of the night.

Void smiled and walked forward the table, however the closer he got to the white mare the more his confidence shrink.

Few meters from his goal he stopped with small blush on his muzzle, “She’s gorgeous.” he quietly said under his nose.

Tonight that mare he always remember with a messy hair and nightshades was sitting in front of him, with her mane flowing from her shoulders combed backwards, while the front of her manestyle was spiky, but not messy.

After few moments she turned towards him, finally noticing him and joining their gazes, Void felt his throat clinch as she looked at him with those red eyes that shone like two rubies illuminated by the strongest light. She smiled and that was it for him, he smirked and shook his head, Is this what you called love at first sight Star? I hope it isn’t, because if it is I am screwed he thought recalling to one of his conversation with Dashing from long ago.

He walked up to the table and nodded his head lightly. “Good night there milady, are you alone here tonight?”

Vinyl chuckled. “Don’t mess with me and sit down already.”—She tapped the menu—“I was holding myself from drinking alone for long enough.”

“Yeah right, so do you like the place?”

“Well the view is magnificent, but—“

“But what?”

She grinned. “Is there a reason almost nopony here orders anything but liquor?”

Void looked around, “I am surprised you noticed it.”

“That wasn’t so hard, I mean there are like two or three ponies at most who actually ordered something to eat.”—Vinyl laughed and grinned mischievously—“But that’s fine with me, so can we get something to drink?”

As if on cue waitress appeared out of nowhere and greeted her clients with a bright smile, Vinyl—still wearing her grin—ordered three shots of tequila for herself.

“I will have a beer.” Void said.

“A beer?” Vinyl asked disappointed. “Wimp.” She added.

“What did you just call me?” Void asked.

“Oh what is it? Did our little princess got agitated?”

Night guardian clenched his teeth and turned towards the waitress. “I’ll have four shots of tequila.”

“I’ll have five.” Vinyl added quickly and gave Void a quick glance.

“I’ll have five as well, and a shot of vodka.”

Waitress nervously gulped and with a smile glued to her muzzle she wrote down the order, changing it one more time after Vinyl also asked for the shot of vodka.

The young mare left the table leaving those two alone, Void stared at the white mare, ready to win the challenge so blatantly thrown at him. Vinyl repaid the favor and stared back at him with, her grin adorning her muzzle all the while.

After few moments Void snorted and finally burst out in laughter, a sight that not many ponies were able to see, Vinyl raised her eyebrow and in asked in confusion, “What’s so funny?”

“Well,”—he took a deep breath, bringing him to his usual calm self—“It was supposed to be a normal date.”

Vinyl chuckled. “A completely normal date would be boring, I mean come on.”—she raised her hoof—“There’s no dubstep and no drugs, just like we wanted.”

“Wanting no dubstep sounds weird when you say it.” Void commented.

“Well, even I need a break once in a while, maybe once in a few years I’ll say.” They both chuckled and Void sighed with relief.

I might enjoy this more than I thought.

Luna and Celestia stared at each other and gasped for air, both of them tired after all the shouting and arguing, after few moments younger sister took one deep breath and looked at her older sister, but this time without any anger in her eyes, this time it was sadness that filled her gaze.

Sun Princess moved a step back surprised by Luna’s stare, younger sister looked back at Nova who at the moment was writing his last will on a scratch of paper then back to her older sister.

“Tia, please understand me.” She said gently and quietly. “After I came back from my banishment,”—she shriveled at the thought of vast, cold moon desert—“almost all ponies were afraid of me, you don’t know how does it feel when your own subjects are terrified on your sight, as if you were some kind of monster.”

Celestia patiently listened to her sister, her heart aching a little. “After some time, night guard was created, they were the ponies who believed in my return, in return of Princess Luna, not Nightmare Moon, the tyrant.”

She sighed. “But that was as much as I could get, there was no way for me to even dream of something more, and then someday out of the blue, he appeared.” Luna took a glance towards Nova and smiled tenderly, Supernova in response smiled as wide as possible.

Luna focused her gaze back to her sister. “He asked me out on the date, can you even imagine what I felt that night?” She asked her sister. “For the first time since I came back I felt that somepony other than yourself wanted to hang out with me, wanted to meet the real me.”

She looked back at Nova. “Wanted to love me.”

Celestia quietly listened to her sister, wanting to hear everything she has to say. After few moments of silence she asked, “Is that all?”

Luna nodded.

Princess of the sun sighed, “I am tired, we’ll talk about this later.” And just like that she turned away and left the room.

Both Luna and Nova stared dumbfounded at the scene, the only one who wasn’t left in confusion was Discord, who gently smiled in the corner of the room, “I get it Tia.”

Celestia walked through the hallways of Canterlot, quickly trotting as far away from her chambers as possible.

“You simply don’t want them to see these, right?” Discord asked quietly.

Princess of the Sun stopped in her tracks and shook her head, she hid her face in her hooves, but that didn’t stop her tears from flowing.

“You’re way too proud to show them your tears.” Her husband added, making sure that those two ponies wouldn’t hear, he snapped his fingers and disappeared, leaving two lovers alone.
