It had been a few days since Midnight had returned to Ponyville. During his time in Filly Delphia he had made two new friends, One being the human Samantha, the second being a fire red unicorn named Kindle. After a couple of days though, Midnight had begun to act a little differently from his norm.

The first sign that was cause for alert however, was memory loss. As you know, an Alicorn does not forget anything, as they use that knowledge to help them later on. At first Midnight had missed an appointment with Dash for a flight session. He played it off by saying that he had been caught up with the crusaders. Yes they still have the group and are helping out other fillies and colt's who have yet to find their special talent.

The second appointment that had been missed was when he was supposed to help AJ on the farm, putting up the rest of the farm equipment for winter. Big Macintosh would have helped, but he was currently in bed with a cold. He had attempted to save himself by telling AJ he had been in a flight session with Dash, but had forgotten about his fib to Dash about being with the crusaders. After AJ had sought out Dash to talk to her about keeping Midnight tied up with training, that is when everything went downhill.

"Girl's I keep telling you, I'm fine. I'm sorry I lied, but I honestly just forgot and didn't want to say anything." Midnight sighed as he was forcefully placed into a bed in the basement of the library, as Twilight began to hook up several machines to the Alicorn.

"Now don't ya'll be trying teh get outta this, ya hear? Twi said that an Alicorn don't ferget nothin....... ever. So she wants teh run some tests on ya teh make sure ya ain't sick er nothin." AJ snorted toward him.

Applejack prided herself on being able to tell when a pony was lying to her, but having a relationship with the pony in question had slightly dulled her sense toward him. Once she realized that he had lied to her, she went straight to Twilight to ask about why an Alicorn would lie about forgetting something.

"Girl's I really need to get up and do some stuff I had planned for today." He groaned as he began to lift the cover from himself but stopped mid way.

"Something wrong darling?" Rarity began as she looked at his face contort before he released a sigh and pulled the cover back over him.

"Yea, I forgot what I had planned for the day." He snorted in annoyance.

"This is bad girls." Twilight began as everypony looked to her. "My equipment says that something is wrong with Midnight, but it can't tell me what." She sighed before she began to trot up the stairs.

"Twi? Whatcha doin?" AJ asked giving a worried glance.

"I have a book that details some Alicorn and other pony ailment's upstairs. The princess wrote it herself, I'll be back in a minute." She spoke before disappearing through the basement door upstairs. After a few minutes she had made her way back downstairs with the book in question. Once she arrived at Midnight's side she scanned the book, then opened it to the page that had the information she required, placing it in front of the other two mares before walking over to Midnight. AJ and Rarity looking at the opened book as the began to read it.

"Night, I have some bad news. Apparently you have been cursed by a very old form of magic." Twilight sighed as her horn glowed, a beam shooting from the tip and scanning his entire frame. "I'm afraid that this form of curse is extremely hard to destroy as well."

"What kind of curse? And how in the hell did I get it?" He asked as he began to panic.

"I don't know, It says that this is a contact curse that disrupts the knowledge center of the brain. It does various things, but centers itself around the most used part of the brain, and from what I know, That is the long and short term memory in your head. As well as your spell database." She sighed.

"Well don't just stand there darling, can you do the cure spell or not?" Rarity asked in a panic as well.

"I don't know if I can. I would recommend contacting the princess and have her medical staff take a look at him." Twilight said as she pulled a scroll and quill from nearby before writing a letter detailing the information she had found out.

"I don't know twi, what if'n they can't do nothing either?" AJ asked giving Midnight a worried glance.

Twilight gave a snort of annoyance as she laid the quill and scroll down. "DAMMIT! I can't send it to the princess, Spike is in Canterlot."

"Can't you get Rainbow Dash to take the letter to the princess? I know it may take a while but at least she can teleport to Ponyville with Dash once she gets the message." Rarity smiled in hope.

"Great idea, AJ, go and see if you can find Dash and bring her back here. Tell her it's urgent." Twilight said causing AJ to bolt from the library.

After a good twenty minutes AJ and Dash came back to the library, making their way quickly into the basement.

"What's going on? AJ said Midnight was sick er something." Dash asked as she landed near Twilight while looking at the Alicorn laying in bed who just stared at her.

"I need you to take this letter to Canterlot as fast as you can. Midnight has a very ancient form of a magical curse on him and I would rather have one of Celestia's medical staff or even herself cast the cure spell on him. I'm not familiar with........." She was cut off as Midnight cleared his throat to garner their attention.

"Uh..... sorry to interrupt, but, who are you?" Midnight asked while looking to Rainbow Dash.

Dash just gawked for a moment, to stunned to say or do anything.

"Midnight Darling, You remember Rainbow Dash don't you? The only pony to ever pull of the Sonic Rainboom?" Rarity asked as she stepped up to her Dash's side.

"I'm sorry.......... But I don't." He said giving a confused expression.

"Ok, time for plan B." Twilight spoke up as she moved all of the equipment from nearby to the far side of the room as well as removing all of the wires attached to the Alicorn.

"What's plan B Twi?" AJ asked as she shook Dash roughly to knock her from her stupor.

"Considering how quickly this curse is affecting Midnight, If I don't cast this spell now, he may end up loosing all of his memories permanently, before dieing."

"WHAT?!" They all shouted in unison.

"The memory loss spell will continue to eat away at the most used part of his memories until they are gone, leaving him a shell, unable to retain memories. Once those are gone it moves to the next most used part of his memories, continuing to erase everything until all that is left is his motor control center and automatic systems. He will become paralyzed in time before the spell erases his body's ability to keep his heart beating. That is his automatic system." She spoke giving a tearful glance to the Alicorn who was now looking oddly at her instead of in shock.

"Who are you again?" Midnight asked as he looked to Twilight before her horn lit up casting a spell onto him to knock him out.

"TWILIGHT?!" The three other mares spoke in shock at seeing what she had just done.

"It had to be done. You all know he would have ran if I hadn't knocked him out. Anyway, stand back. I have no choice but to do this spell now if he can't remember me." She snorted as she began to put forth as much magical energy into her horn as possible.

After a couple of minutes, her horn was glowing a blistering white. She managed to squint an eye open to look directly at Midnight as she released the spell letting it envelope him. She gave a sigh as the spell left her horn and began to do its work on the Alicorn, fully enveloping him and the bed he lay on.

"Twi, is that normal for a spell to do that?" AJ asked as they continued to stare at the Alicorn.

"Yes, but the spell does have some side effects that are rare, this is one reason it was never really used within the past few hundred years. There were some instances........" She trailed off looking to the Alicorn.

"What kind of instances?" Dash asked but stopped as they all heard a groan coming from the bed. as the light began to fade from around it.

As the light faded, the four mares all gave a gasp seeing three ponies laying in the bed together. Three mares looked from the three Midnight's to Twilight who only face hoofed.

"This is one of the side effects." Twilight sighed.

"Ugh, what's going on?" One of the Midnights poke up as a hoof was raised and placed on his head, rubbing it gently before stopping and then moving quickly all over his forehead were his horn once stood.

"What the hell! happened to my horn?!" One of them shouted which woke the other two up, causing them to groan at the shouting.

"What's with the shouting? Dammit, can't a guy catch some Z's around here?" The other hornless Midnight spoke up as he turned over, cuddling the third Midnight who has a horn. "Wait........" The cuddler spoke as he opened an eye to stare at a horned Twilight who was just staring back while blushing bright. "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!" He shouted as both of the hornless Midnights bolted from the bed. One falling to the floor in a heap while the other was now flying a good distance from the horned pony who exited the bed. while looking from the earth pony Midnight to the pegasus midnight.

"I'm guessing that the spell you used had some side affects that you failed to mention to us Twilight." The unicorn spoke up.

*THUD*

The sound of a pony hitting the floor drew the attention of everypony. Dash giving a groan as she saw Rarity laying on the ground, out cold.

After a short chat with the, now three, Midnight's. They had all chosen temporary new names in order to keep from being confused as Midnight. The earth pony was named Blade, as his cutiemark was the Sword of Midnights cutiemark. The unicorn was named Buckler since his cutiemark was the shield, and the pegasus insisted on the name Flame, as it was Midnights last name, plus he thought it was cool and suited him.

After a few hours it was beginning to get late. The whole day had flown by due to trying to figure out a cure for Midnight only to split him into three separate ponies. This also posed a problem for Twilight, as she had made it clear that the three Midnight's had to stay at the library so that she could contact Celestia about the spell and what it had done to Midnight. However, they had other plans.

"There is no way I am sleeping in the same bed with two other guys." Blade spoke out with a snort, stomping his hoof into the floor for emphasis.

"Me either, it's so not cool, plus I don't swing that way." Flame spoke up as well.

"Buckler just sat there next to Twilight as she watched the other two dark ponies argue back and forth before they looked to him.

"What about you Buck? Aren't you against staying here?" Flame spoke up.

"Twilight just has it in our best interest to stay here so that once the medical staff from Canterlot Castle arrives, they can fix this little accident and we can become one pony again. If you two want to argue over sleeping arrangements then please. Flip a bit for the bed. The other can have the couch. I for one plan on staying up to try and find a cure for this myself." Buckler spoke up getting a smile from Twilight.

"Suck up." Flame smirked. "What about you Dash? You don't mind me hanging out with you do ya? I can crash on your couch if you'll let me. It's better than being cooped up with a nerd and a hard ass." He chuckle but stopped as Blade gave a loud snort up to him.

"Come down here and say that to my face ya feather brain!" Blade shouted up to the pegasus who only grinned as he dived at the earth pony crashing into him and tackling him across the room. The girls scattering as hooves and wings began to fly about as they fought.

"GENTLEMEN!" Shouted Buckler as his horn lit up, freezing both of the other males in place before pulling them apart. "I am not one for violence, but if you two must fight, please do it where you cannot break things. Like outside for instance." He snorted before releasing the spell on them letting them fall to the floor in a heap.

"HE STARTED IT!" They both shouted while pointing to each other.

Buckler sighed placing a hoof onto his forehead, gently rubbing the base of his horn as he spoke. "Twilight my dear, Although I respect your decision to keep us all here, I must agree with them. If there is to be peace in this library, then we must all have our own space." He sighed.

"Well darlings, If one of you want, one of you may stay with me at the boutique." Rarity smiled nervously.

"Sorry, to fru fru for me." Flame spoke up shaking his head.

"I won't be much help there, ah'd like teh earn mah keep." Blade spoke up giving a nod.

"As much as I would like to as well, I must decline Rarity, I will be staying here with Twilight to find a counter spell to fix all of this." Buckler said as he nodded to the unicorn at his side.

"Very well then." She huffed. "If anypony needs me, they know where to find me." She spoke in a rather hurt tone before leaving the library.

"Well, now that one of us has a place to stay for the night, how about the other two?" Buckler spoke up looking to AJ and Dash.

"I think that has already been decided." Twilight giggled seeing AJ and Dash eyeing the other two ponies.
