Whats love got to do with it?
Chapter 135: 135. Getting informed before the hunt
Previous Chapter Next ChapterAfter speaking with the owner of the Casino slash museum, Midnight was given the chance to remove the radio and speakers from the car and replace it with a magical copy. He had attempted to make a duplicate of the stereo, but it wouldn't tune in to any stations for some reason. It didn't seem as if magic would affect it, but it would interfere with its ability to pick up radio stations. For this reason, Midnight had decided to take the radio and head back to Ponyville. His vacation may have been cut short, but what he got in return was more than anything he could have dreamed of.

Upon arriving in Ponyville, Midnight headed straight for the library, as Twilight would have an available source of electricity to power the stereo in her basement. As he entered the library however, Twilight looked up in surprise to see her stallion striding in with a look of concentration plastered across his face.
"Night? Whats wrong?" She asked as she closed her book before trotting over to him.
"I'll tell you in a minute, but right now I need to go into the basement. You have a source for electricity down there right?" He asked while still walking.
"Yes, its that machine you made when you first arrived. AJ brought it over after converting your old house to use magic to operate where needed."
"Great!" He laughed as he picked up his pace, practically skipping down the stairs of the basement.
"What do you need it for though? Is it for that thing?" Twilight asked as she pointed a hoof to the stereo.
"Yes, and I have a huge surprise for you." He laughed, barely able to contain his excitement as he began hooking up the speakers to the stereo and then a small battery to it that was connected the the generator.
"Really now? What could have gotten you so excited that......." She trailed off as static filled the speakers for a moment before Midnight gently used a hoof to slowly turn the knobs of the ancient stereo. After a few seconds, voices began to come over the speakers causing Twilight to gasp out. "What in the....."
"Shhhh." Midnight spoke getting her to be quiet as he turned the volume up.
Recently there have been numerous reports of militia groups popping up left and right throughout the United States, fighting any and all law enforcement and causing massive casualties on both sides. The government has since passed martial law in many area's of each and every state. Enacting curfews along with a shoot on sight warning for any and all persons carrying weapons. In other news, massive disappearances of people are still being investigated around the globe since the first disappearance of a young man and his entire home late last year. The person's neighbors stated that he was rather quiet and kept to himself but would never turn them away if they needed help. One day they heard a loud clap of what sounded like thunder one night just before going to bed. But when they went out to investigate, the entire home of their neighbor along with its occupants had completely vanished. All that was left was spewing waterline and dampened ground. Any indication that a house had been there within the past 24 hours were present and it was proven that the house had not been burned or moved. In other news..........
Midnight quickly turned the radio off with his hoof as he stared at it in disbelief. He had just found out that his disappearance had become national news, unless of course it was some other person, but he didn't want to think about that now. All he wanted to think about was the fact that other people were disappearing from his world as he did. Midnight's eyes went wide as a thought occurred to him.
"Twilight, I want to ask you something, and I want you to tell me the truth. Has the princess told you of any other humans to come into this world other than the first and myself?" He asked while looking almost petrified at her.
"N-no, why do you ask?" She spoke rather nervously.
"Twiiiiiiliiiiiight." He gave a snort while giving her a stern look.
"I'm sorry Midnight, I really don't know." She said while pouting out her lower lip.
"Alright then, I guess it's time to talk to Tia." He spoke up as he began to trot up the stairs.
"But, why do you need to talk to her about this?"
"Because I may not have been the only human to be sucked into this world." He said as his vision never left his path up the stairs. "One other thing. Don't use magic on that device and let NO ONE touch it, even yourself or Spike. It is possibly my last link to my home world and I will not loose it for any reason." He said before heading out the front door of the library and disappearing in a flash of light.
"Oh Celestia, I hope he's wrong." Twilight spoke out in worry while staring at the spot Midnight had just disappeared from.

*SNAP*
Midnight appeared inside the throne room seeing a couple of surprised guards standing at the foot of the large staircase leading up to the throne.
"I need to speak with the princess, It is a matter of urgency." Midnight spoke up causing them to nod as one of them spoke up.
"She is in her quarters tending to the prince." Midnight gave a nod as he teleported to just outside of Celestia's room and giving the door a quick knock.
"Enter." Came a voice from inside just before Midnight entered the room seeing a little black and white ball of energy bolt toward him smiling and giggling.
"Hey there little guy." Midnight smiled as the young colt jump up to his father.
"DADDY!" He shouted happily hugging his fathers snout.
"You've gotten so big!" Midnight chuckled as he lifted the foal from his face smiling. Star just smiling, happy to see his father again. He walked quietly over to Tia giving her a nuzzle before taking a seat across from her, Little Star playing and jumping all over Midnight as he spoke.
"Tia, I have a question, and I need you to tell me the truth." He spoke in a serious tone causing her eyes to widen a bit.
"Midnight?"
"Has there been any other sightings of humans in Equestria since my arrival last year? Please tell me the truth because you know I will find out eventually if you lie to me."
Celestia sat there frozen in shock, her mind raced to find the correct answer to speak but she could not make her mouth move to answer.
"TIA!" Midnight spoke a little louder causing her to sputter slightly.
"M-midnight, I am rather stunned you would ask that question." She spoke trying to delay the answer.
"I need to know Tia. If there are other people from my world here then I want to know so that we can speak. I want to see how they have assimilated into society and if they need any help." He sighed while rubbing the bridge of his snout.
"Night.........." She trailed off before picking up again. "There are others who have appeared over time." She trailed off once again not daring to look into the Alicorn's eyes. "All but two have been added to society unharmed."
"UNHARMED!?" He shouted but recoiled hearing Star begin to sniffle at his sudden outburst. "I'm sorry little buddy." He continued as his voice became soothing to the young foal. Star coming over to him as Midnight picked him up in a hug.
"What do you mean unharmed?" He continued as ice became to coat his words.
"Unfortunately there were incidents with them when they arrived. Several ponies had been hurt or had lost their lives to two of them. Unfortunately one of the humans that appeared was killed on his arrival as he was using one of those powered chariots. He hit a large tree and was found a week later in the burned rubble of it. The second had weapons similar to what you gave my sister. The man had a orange vest and hat. He ran upon a farm on the outskirts of Horseshoe Bay that was being occupied by many ponies tending to the land and harvesting. One of them saw him and went to see what he was since he was wearing a brightly colored material. When the pony spoke to him he used the weapon against the pony and several others before several unicorns brought him down, killing him on the spot. As for the rest, there are three others, two of which were a couple that had decided to become ponies and live in society while the third........" She trailed off again.
"What happened to the third?" Midnight asked.
"She decided to remain human. Although it was difficult for her to remain in society like that. Over the short time she has been in Equestria, she has made friends in the community she is currently living in." She sighed before continuing. "I did not tell you this because out of the few humans to survive. You are the only one to ever turn into an Alicorn. The couple that was turned into ponies were not as lucky. One of them had turned into a unicorn while the other turned into an earth pony. The earth pony has had considerable difficulty adjusting to his new life. Having them know that you were once human could cause a multitude of other problems. I'm sorry for hiding this but I do not wish to further cause them any more trouble. You understand don't you?" She asked giving a pleading look.
"I understand Tia, and I hold no grudge against your decision to hide this from me. But I do want to meet this other human female that has decided to stay her true form." He smirked.
"I really wish you would not, but, knowing you." She sighed. "You will find her in time, so why not tell you." She said before floating a scroll over to Midnight. "She resides in the suburbs of Filly Delphia. As I hear it, she has become a local scientist that is studying magic along with a unicorn group in the area. I have not obtained the name of the facility however, so you must find it on your own."
"I assume this information isn't classified correct?" He asked, looking up to her from the scroll.
"No."
"Good, because I want my girls to know why I'll be gone for a bit. I'm just lucky I still have a few days left of my vacation ahead of me." He sighed thinking of what would be going on over the next three days, however those thoughts came to a halt as he felt Star bouncing on his back between his wings causing him to look back.
"And what are you doing?!" He spoke out in a playful tone causing Star to giggle and bounce further down his back and onto the floor before running around him. "Hey you! Come back here!" He spoke out playfully as he got to his hooves and took chase after the foal causing him to squeal out loudly while running away and around the room. Midnight hot on his heels before he started running toward Tia shouting.
"Momma! Momma! Save me!" He squealed, eliciting a chuckled from Celestia and causing her to stand as she pulled the young one from the floor and onto her back via magic.
"I shall vanquish thee!" She spoke out playfully stepping forward and raising a hoof as Midnight came to her pressing his nose to the hoof before dramatically falling over in a heap as if slain.
"UGH! Ya got me!" *thud* He hit the floor motionless.
"YEAAAAA!" Star giggled jumping from his mothers back and running over to Midnight, climbing up and onto his side while puffing his chest out. "No more monsterses!" He shouted just before Midnight gave a playful roar, picking up the foal and blowing bubbles on his belly to make him squeal loudly.
A few more minutes of playing went on before Midnight said his goodbyes and left the castle to head back toward Ponyville.
Once he arrived however, there were some mixed emotions.

"But why are you going to see this human darling? Is it not enough to simply have spoken to Celestia about this?" Rarity asked giving a worried stare.
"Sorry doll, This is something I have to do regardless of circumstance. Wouldn't you want to meet another of your kind if you were stranded in a different world from your own?" Midnight asked with a sigh.
"I guess your right, but what do you know of this human other than her being pulled into this world as well?" Rarity asked again.
"From what Tia told me, she is fairly educated in science and biology, she also is working in a facility with quite a few unicorns studying magic. That's all I know so far, but I look to remedy that."
"What are you going to do when you find her though?" Asked Twilight from behind her desk.
"Not sure really, I was going to ask her some questions about how she arrived here and around what date it was. Other than that I really don't have many other questions."
"How'bout why she decided teh stay human instead'o turnin in'teh a pony?" AJ chimed in.
"That is a rather personal question darling, I'm not sure she would want to answer that." Rarity said while cocking a brow rather surprised at what AJ had said.
"Regardless, it's still a question I can ask." Midnight said as he stood, heading toward the exit of the library. "I should be back within a few days."
"Do be careful darling." Rarity spoke up, Midnight giving a nod an smile to his ladies before stepping outside and taking flight toward Filly Delphia.
"Twilight." Rarity began. "How is it possible that other humans were brought into Equestria Twilight? I thought the magical storm that destroyed my boutique was the only one to bring a human here."
"I'm not sure, but since the storm wasn't just a local occurrence, I have a sneaking suspicion that there could have been far more beings brought through those rifts than the princess has led us to believe." Twilight said as she rubbed her chin in thought.
"What ya'll mean Twi?" Asked AJ as her interest peaked.
"Well, since the magic storm was all over Equestria, that means that if there was enough magic focus in more than a single area of the storm, plus how wide spread the storm was. There could very well be an unknown number of other humans to exist not only in Equestria, but across any and every area where the storm was present in the location of a highly magical field."
"So in short, there could be more than just those three?" Rarity asked.
"There could be as little as just those three, or up to a thousand. We just won't be able to tell until Midnight returns so we can use a global scan spell to see." Twilight sighed in worry.
"What if Night decides teh hunt down them other humans an helpem out? Don'tcha think that would take a while teh do?" AJ asked giving a worried look at the thought of Midnight doing a global expedition to find all of the humans.
"That would pose a serious problem, not to mention it placing a strain on all of our relationships with him. As much as I dislike the idea, if that conversation doesn't come up from Midnight, I vote that we put it aside and not tell him. I would love to speak to other humans to find out more about his world, but I can't see Midnight staying gone for an unknown amount of time just to find every human that arrived in this world. I know it sounds selfish, but I think it'd be for the best."
The three ponies looked to each other with worry in their eyes. They had just made a decision that could forever alter their world if Midnight never found out about it. The balance of nations could be changed along with what nation could possibly rule the planet, and this just based from finding humans in their world. What technology could they find or create from those humans. How does one nation cope with the integration of a new species into its society should they remain their original form or not. As time continues, all of these questions will be answered. Let's just hope that the answers we receive, are good ones.
