As Midnight trotted along with his three ladies, he stopped as his reactive shield activated to a projectile hitting hit causing his shield to turn red temporarily as the projectile bounced off of him and onto the dirt below. He turned around quickly to see another orange projectile coming at him and bouncing harmlessly off his shield. He looked around to see where it had come from but could not locate anypony that would have a............... wait.

Midnight stood there as he floated the little orange dart to in front of him, giving a chuckle as he realized what it was.

"Luna, come out here, don't make me summon my own nerf guns." He chuckled louder but stopped as her watched a dark figure glide gently down from the cloud from which they were hiding on.

"*GASP* Nightmare Moon?!" Twilight back peddled from the mare standing before them. It was indeed Nightmare moon.

"Wait, I thought your girls defeated Nightmare Moon before." Midnight spoke up while cocking a brow at the mare before them.

"Hmmmmm yes, I do recall that moment in time when I was defeated, but I have returned. Fear not however as I come in peace." She paused for a moment while looking around at all of the other ponies and foals that had stopped to see her. "As long as I get some candy, then I will not need to feast on any foals." She began to laugh slowly as it quickly gain volume turning more maniacal causing everypony to run screaming from the area.

"Cute." Midnight spoke up causing the laughing to come to an abrupt stop.

"What?" Luna back peddle at the sudden compliment.

"Was she like this before?" Midnight smirked to his ladies who just giggled. "Because it is quite becoming." He grinned giving Luna a wink only to make her blush.

"What are you talking about?" She spoke out in a threatening tone.

Midnight gave a sly smirk trotting up to her, slowly making a circle around her. "So this is the dreaded Nightmare moon? I must say this form is rather, sensual." He spoke softly before leaning up and speaking the final word into her ear giving it a nip before pulling away to see her entire head burning red.

"Midnight, quit picking on Luna." Rarity spoke up giving a soft giggle before bowing to the night princess. The others following suite.

"Please forgive me princess, I wasn't aware you would be dressing up as.......... well........ your former self." Twilight gave a nervous grin toward Luna.

"I..... I'm sorry as well. Had I known I would get such a response I may have chosen a different costume." Luna spoke out now in her normal voice still baring her blush.

"How did you know it was me though and not really Nightmare moon?" She asked just before Midnight floated the orange dart to in front of her.

"If you had returned to your former self then you would have used a magical bullet instead of a foam dart." He smirked as Luna took it from his grasp and opening a small summoning portal then placing it inside.

"Ahhhhhh, got your own little stash portal now I see." Midnight smirked.

"Yes, and it is going to be very helpful tonight." She giggled as they began to walk along. Every pony stopping to watch the five ponies talking together.

"Really now? I've heard about how this holiday started, but I honestly never thought a princess would take a candy bribe." Midnight snickered.

"Well, the past few years have been fun, and every foal loves to get a good scare on Nightmare Night. Why not enjoy being evil for just one night out of the year." Luna smirked before doing her maniacal laugh once again causing many ponies to run away in fear.

"Luna?" A little voice spoke up from behind the party causing them to stop and turn to it.

"Yes? Oh my goodness, hello Pip." She smiled as the little colt ran forward jumping into Luna's arms for a hug.

"Wow you look really scary this year." He giggled. "Are you going to scare a lot of ponies?"

"Of course I am, I wouldn't be a very good Nightmare Moon if I didn't, now would I?" She smiled as she sat the little foal down.

"No, but that's ok if you didn't, then everypony would like her." Pip smiled as best he could through his black mask.

"So what are you this year? Your costume is all black." Luna smiled as she looked at the cloth covering most of the young colts body.

"I'm a ninja this year, I was a pirate last year, remember?" He giggled before pulling out a large plastic sword and swinging it about menacingly.

"Yes I do remember your costume last year." Luna smiled down to Pip. "Why don't you run along now and get some candy, I will see you later." She smiled as he nodded and took off like a bullet down the street.

"Cute kid." Midnight smiled as he watched the colt run down the street.

"Yes, he is a hoof full. I met him for the first time not long after falling from being the real Nightmare Moon. It was the first Nightmare Night and he came up to me saying it was his first Nightmare Night. After a few unfortunate events he ended up asking me to come back again the following year to scare him and his friends again. I had never felt so loved and feared at the same time. It was interesting to say the least." Luna said as they had now arrived back into the marketplace where many of the games were being held.

As they trotted along, the sun began to move across the sky. Slowly bringing with it the night. After a short time Luna stopped in the middle of the marketplace as her horn lit up. Midnight watched in awe as the moon began to quickly move up from the horizon into the sky and then slowing down to take its position among the stars.

"Whoa........... You know this is probably the third time I've seen you do that Luna and it still amazes me that you can move an object of that size." Midnight smirked at the night princess.

"It took quite a bit of effort when I was younger, but now it like taking in a breath of air. Effortless at most." She smirked back.

"So what are we going to do for the rest of the night?" Twilight spoke up catching the others attentions.

"I'm not sure darling, wasn't Pinkie planning a party for tonight?" Rarity as as she leaned against Midnight.

"I think so, but I thought it wouldn't start until late." Twilight spoke as if trying to confirm her suspicion .

"I'm sure the party can survive without us for the moment. Lets have a bit of fun." Midnight smiled as he trotted over to a dunking booth to see a burly stallion sitting on the seat just above the water.

"Come on an try yer luck, dunk the bigmouth to cool his jets." A mare spoke up standing next to a box of baseballs not far from the booth a few yards back.

"Been a while since I've tossed a baseball." Midnight spoke up as he picked on up with his magic.

"Come on ya big sissy, lets see what ya got." Came the voice of the burly stallion sitting in the booth.

"WHAT?!" Midnight spoke up in slight shock.

"Ya heard me limp horn, lets see what ya got." He cackled as he watched Midnight toss one ball only to miss the target.
"Glad that was the broad side of a barn, but then again I doubt ya could hit that either HAAAAAAAHAHAHAA!"

Midnight gave a determined grin as he picked up another ball and chucked it hard toward the target, hitting it but nowhere near hard enough to dunk the stallion.

"Awwwww, my ma can toss one harder than that. Come on now lets see some strength behind it. Or are ya just a big baby?" He began to cackle again before Midnight grinned using a spell to increase the velocity of the ball, hitting the target and sending a surprised stallion into the drink. Everypony erupted and cheered as the stallion fell but quickly surfaced taking in a gasp of air before climbing onto his platform again.

"Nice shot big guy, now lets see yer marefriend do the *THUNK* AAAAAH *SPLASH*!" Just as he was setting down Twilight tossed a ball hard hitting the bullseye and sending the stallion into the drink again. He resurfaced once again to climb up and onto the platform taking his seat again. He brushed his mane form his face as he was about to speak again. *THUNK* *SPLASH* He only had enough time to take in a breath before hitting the water this time as Luna tossed hitting the mark.

"Alright alright! I'm taking five." The stallion shouted causing the small crowd to roar and cheer.

The small group continued throught the marketplace playing a game here or there, ever so often they would win a prize and give it away for a passing foal, among other things that they would not be able to carry with them or place within a magical stash portal. It was turning out to be a very pleasant evening. That was of course until they left that area and headed toward Sweet Apple Acre's.

As they made it to the farm, they stood in awe seeing several flashing lights coming from the barn. They were bright white lights and some green one as well sitting on top of a few hay bales. When they trotted up to the entrance to the barn they were greeted by a large red stallion in a bright green frog costume. Upon seeing Big Macintosh they all began to snicker causing him to give a disgruntled sigh,

"Aw'right now, ya'll wana go through the corn maze er not?" He croaked out.

"Sure, but I have to ask, why a frog?" Midnight chuckled only to get a big smile out of Big Macintosh.

"Ya wana see?" He smirked seeing them nod. "Hey Shy, we got's a few ponies who want teh see the magic trick." He spoke up.

Fluttershy gave a smiled as she came around the corner of the barn from the back. Stepping up to Big Macintosh and leaning on him smiling, giving a soft blush. She was dressed in a beautiful sky blue dress with white trim and little butterflies adorning it. A small tiara sat on her head to make her look like a princess.

"Princess and the frog. Nice touch." Midnight smiled as he bro hoofed the giant frog.

"Ya ain't seen nothing yet." He chuckled as he turned to Shy and gave a pucker. She blushing brightly before leaning over and kissing him causing a bright flash of light to erupt from all around him.

After the light had faded, Big Macintosh stood there in a suit similar to Midnights, his mane slicked back as well. To be honest, he looked rather dashing, even when compared to Midnight. The ladies at Midnight's side gave a shocked expression seeing the farm pony in a suit.

"Whut? Ah can be just as civilized as the next pony." He chuckled but stopped as Fluttershy leaned on him again. "But don't plan on it being more than maybe a few days out'o the year. Ah do have a reputation teh keep." He chuckled giving them a wink. "Anyway, head on inteh the maze. There are three exits, an lots'o monsters in there. Better be careful or they might getcha." He began to laugh manically before he and Shy vanished in a puff of smoke.

Midnight looked to the small group of mares following him and grinned. "Ready ladies?"

"Uh......." They trailed off looking at each other nervously before following him into the maze. Once they started they weren't sure which way to take so Midnight lead the way making sure to take nothing but left turns. After a few minutes a pony jumped from hiding in the corn and screamed at them all, in turn causing all the mares to scream out in fright before he jumped back into the corn. This would happen several more times. Once at Midnight who just stood there smirking at the pony before nodding to the girls behind him. The pony ran around the Alicorn screaming at the girls while in costume causing them to bolt away from them before seeing the pony disappear into the corn and then coming back to stand close to Midnight once again.

"Why didn't you protect us Night?" Twilight spoke up while pouting.

"Oh don't be such a baby, nopony is going to hurt you in here, this is all just a game and everypony that jumps out won't harm you." He chuckled before they all rounded another corner and stopped. Midnight was frozen in place as he looked to the site in front of him. It was pony dressed in a realistic looking spider costume, but had its back turn to the group.

"Uh oh, looks like we're about teh see some fireworks." Applejack chuckled as she spoke up causing the spider pony to twitch and slowly turn around.

"No...........noooonononononono, anything but spiders......"Midnight squeaked out as the pony slowly turned around giving an evil grin to the Alicorn then taking a step forward. The girls covered their ears as did the spider before finally hearing the girlish screaming stop. They all looked to Midnight who had just finished screaming. The spider grinned taking another step toward Midnight eliciting another scream. The girls gave an evil grin making eye contact with the spider pony before giving a nod. The spider pony gave one final grin before rushing the Alicorn while hissing loudly causing him to shriek in terror and teleport away leaving the mares to fend for themselves.

"How chivalrous of him to leave us standing here to be attacked by a giant spider." Rarity sighed in annoyance. The spider pony just laughed before turning back and heading to his waiting spot to scare another crowd.

"Is it gone?" Came the voice of Midnight in Twilight's ear.

"Huh? Midnight? Where are you?" She spoke up while looking around only to see the other mares in her group staring at her with a cocked brow each.

"Twilight? Midnight just teleported away." Rarity spoke up.

"I hear him though, and its not like the telepathic spell either, its like he's right here with me.

"Twi, I'm in your ear." He spoke up again before flying out and resting onto the end of her nose. "I shrunk myself and hid, I didn't teleport." He spoke up giving a sheepish smile before slowly returning to his original size.

"Daggum! That's a mite fancy trick right there." AJ chuckled.

"I'll bet it is." Luna giggled as he returned to his normal size giving a sigh.

"You know I won't leave you girls to fight by yourself. Even if it means facing a million spiders I will still be right here for you." He chuckled. Even if I have to do long range spells I'll still be there for you."

After finding the exit, the small group made their way back into town for more of the festivities and then onto Pinkie's party being held at Sugar Cube Corner. They had all arrived to see the party in full swing. A few ponies were dancing while others mingled and talked. Rainbow Dash was at the buffet table munching on a candied apple while Pinkie was nowhere in sight.

"Hey Dash." Midnight spoke up as he trotted to the table, picking up a few of the smaller items and a cupcake.

"Hey Night, Nice costume. I'm guessing Rarity made you wear it." She chuckled seeing his disgruntled expression.

"Yes but at least it matches hers." He grinned while nodding to the ivory pony across the room who was chatting up another pony.

"I don't get it." Dash said while rubbing her withers.

"I'll loan you the dvd sometime. We're dressed up as Mortisha and Gomez from the Adams Family. Its a show from my world." He smiled down to her. "I'm guessing your a Wonderbolt?" He smirked seeing her beam with pride.

"You bet, I'm actually wearing my uniform right now and not just a costume. Even these goggles are the ones you got me when we went to the Wonderbolts show in Cloudsdale." She beamed looking at the before rushing the Alicorn and hugging him tightly. "I still owe you for that day." She smiled.

"No worries Dash, I'm just happy to have helped you achieve your dream." He smiled while leaning down a bit.

"Thanks." She smiled back before leaning up and giving him a quick kiss. "Now go have some fun. Pinkie should be around here somewhere." She giggled before trotting off.

"I wonder where that pink ball of energy is anyway." Midnight spoke softly to himself while looking around the room to the different costumed ponies. He gave a shrug as he pulled the cupcake he had gotten from the buffet table earlier, and slowly moved it to his mouth, but just as he was about to take a bite, a pink colored tongue shot out from his left, wrapping around the cupcake, and snatching it away from him and into the mouth of a certain pink pony. He turned around cocking both brows in surprise to see Pinkie dressed up as a giant anteater. She even had a long nose thing attached to her muzzle, her tongue sticking out the end of it which was maybe two feet from her face.

"I'm not even going to ask." Midnight chuckled causing Pinkie to giggle

The party continued on into the night as many of the other ponies began to slowly file out of the shop leaving the elements, minus Fluttershy, to continue on with the merriment by drinking and just enjoying everyone's company.

Once the night had come to a close, everypony had managed to stagger home for the night to sleep the nights drinking away. It wasn't until morning that Midnight awoke to a loud snore beside him. He gave a yawn while stretching his wings out, giving a slight groan as his body shuddered from the good stretch.

"Rarity, yer snoring again." He yawned once more while turning around only to stop dead and gawk as he realized that this was not only not Rarity, but also not her bed either. His vision fell to the mare that he awoke next to, his mouth moving but not words coming out. He continued sitting there for a few minutes until he could finally compose himself enough to reach over and give the night princess a gentle nudge, waking her.

"Ugh, Tia, the sun is still to high for you to wake me." She groaned while turning over and pulling the covers over her head.

"Sorry sweetheart, but I'm not Tia." He gave a nervous chuckle as he watched her bolt upright staring at Midnight laying next to her in bed.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" The scream was heard through the entire castle but the guards had already been briefed by Celestia that it may happen this morning so that there would be no worries.
