"W-w-w-w-what are you doing in my bed?!" Luna squeaked out in surprise as her entire body became more and more crimson. Her wings already at full attention.

"I haven't the slightest, last night was a blur after all the drinking." He spoke out in a nervous tone.

"But we were in Ponyville. How in the hay did we end up in Canterlot?! AND in my bed no less!" She squeaked out again.

"No clue." Midnight laughed nervously. "I wonder if we........." He trailed off seeing her sudden realization as she pulled the covers over herself. Some shuffling occurred before she pulled them back off giving a sigh of relief.

"No we didn't." She sighed. "That would have been rather embarrassing."

"And why would that be embarrassing?" Midnight asked while cocking a brow at the night princess.

"Uuuuuuuh..............." She trailed off for a moment until a knock came at the door. "OH! I'll get it." She smiled before rushing to the door to her bedroom opening it just a little to see who it was. "Tia?" She spoke out in some shock as her sister pressed the door open, stepping into her room.

"I thought I heard a scream earlier from.........in.........here?" She trailed off seeing Midnight laying across Luna's bed with the cover now partially covering part of his back.

"Morning Tia, come to join us?" Midnight smirked causing both of the princess' to gawk. Luna more than Celestia.

"Did you two?" Celestia was cut short as Luna bolted to in front of her shouting.

"NO! No never, huh uh, no way, no how!" Luna kept waving her forelegs in front of her to emphasize the dialogue only to get a giggle from her sister.

"Now now my dear princess of the night, don't fib to your sister. Why would you be embarrassed about our night of passion. I mean you only kept me up the entire night." Midnight grinned causing Celestia to giggle at what she had just heard. Luna on the other hoof was a blistering red from embarrassment.

"Don't worry though Luna, you should be walking normally within another few hours." He gave her a wink, this time Celestia busted out laughing as tears began to well up in her eyes. Luna however was now seeing red as her horn lit up.

"You.......yooooooooouuuuu!" She began.

"I take that as my cue to leave." Midnight snickered as he vanished, teleporting to another location just before a bolt of lightning erupted from Luna's horn, scorching the place he was just at.

Luna gave an annoyed snort before looking to her sister who was just getting her giggle fit under control.

"And why are you laughing so much Tia?" She growled.

"Oh ho ho ho ho my, I haven't laughed that hard in almost an eon." She continued to chuckle while speaking. "Luna dear, I'm sorry to cause you so much trouble this early in the morning. I was in Ponyville along with Starlight doing some Nightmare Night festivities when I saw you two stumble from a bakery. You two must have had quite a bit to drink to be falling over as much as you did. So I teleported you two here to the castle and into your room. Midnight passed out on your bed before I could take him to a guest room, so I thought it would be humorous to see your reaction upon finding him in bed with yourself." She giggled once more before continuing. "I never expected for him to further the little prank, but I am glad he did. After the morning I have had I certainly needed the laugh." Her tone began to get a more serious tone to it as she continued.

"Luna, I must ask you to come with me to the war room, we have some issues that need to be discussed." She was now speaking without any hint of laughter as her serious demeanor took over. Luna looked to her sister as she trotted up to her side as they left the room to head toward the war room.

"Tia? What's wrong? We haven't been in the war room in ages." She asked while looking at the serious expression across Celestia's face.

"I am afraid we have come to dire times sister. I have intelligence on the griffon nation stating they are preparing for war. However, it did not say what other country they are preparing to attack would be. As you know, the King of the griffon nation and I have never been on good terms with one another. I am afraid that they are gearing up their military because of the rumors of Midnight retraining the royal guard. I am to visit with the griffon king tomorrow to be briefed on what is going on. He has requested my presence only and I do not wish for him to be angered anymore than he has already become. So for the time being, you will be left in charge of Equestria, along with the rising of the moon and the sun. I should only be gone for a couple days at most." She spoke as they trotted toward the war room.

"Tia, do you trust them enough to actually go alone? Can you not take some of the elite guard with you?" Luna asked in worry.

"Unfortunately no, the king may become brash should I take any others with me. Although we have never been on good terms, he has always been civil in the past and never brought war against Equestria."

"But what if...." Luna trailed off looking away.

"Nothing will happen dear sister. I shall return within a few days at most."

As the two arrived at the war room they entered to see Shining armor and the other three captains of the guard awaiting them.

"Princess? I thought......" He stopped as Celestia raised a hoof to silence him.

"My sister will be present at our discussions from here on. I expect her to take rule of the kingdom in time and she will need to know everything that I know. Including information regarding times of war." She spoke out in an authoritative tone.

"Very well then, shall we begin?" Iron Clad Spoke up getting a nod from everyone.

Back in Ponyville Midnight was pacing back and forth within the library. His face contorted as if he was thinking hard. Twilight was nearby reading book as usual but was finding it harder and harder to concentrate while seeing Midnight pacing from the corner of her eye.

"Night, please sit down or go back to the castle. If you are worried about the princess then go see her." She sighed as she looked up from her book.

"I'm not worried Twi, it's just one of those gut feelings I get when something bad is about to happen that I have no control over." He sighed before trotting over and taking a seat next to the purple unicorn. "It's just hard ya know? Having the feeling of being helpless and not being able to do anything about it. It's like I'm human all over again." He sighed lowering his head onto Twilight's.

"Don't feel bad about this Night, bad things happen, and sometimes we can't always predict the outcome or try to avoid it." She gave him a loving nuzzle while looking up to him. "So get your tail out of a knot and go do something to take your mind off of it." She chuckled giving him a playful shove.

"Yes my princess, right away my princess." He chuckled while bowing and walking backward away from her out the door.

Upon exiting the library, he was greeted by a gust of freezing wind that made every hair on his body stand on end.
"Dang it got cold quick!" He shouted as his horn lit up, placing a warming aura around himself. He began to quickly make his way through town to see snow slowly falling from the cloudy sky above. It was beginning to stick to the ground but would melt after a minute or so, he guessed that at this rate the ground should be covered by nightfall.

After making his way through town and giving a few nods to some of his friends, he made his way toward Sugar Cube Corner. Because what else would be good to do on a cold day than to enjoy a steaming cup of hot chocolate. However, there was a slight problem with his plans as he arrived to see the storefront completely full. Every seat had been taken as well as other ponies standing around and just enjoying the atmosphere. He gave a sigh looking into the window seeing so many ponies inside. It was so cramped that he would not even be able to enter without vastly reducing his size with his magic.

Just as he was about to turn and leave he heard a tap on the window and turned to see who it was.

"Pinkie?" He spoke out while cocking a brow. The pink pony smiled at him and used her hoof to point to the side of the building while making a quick circling motion as well. Midnight gave a nod and smile as he made his way around the bake of the bakery to see Pinkie standing there with two cups of hot chocolate.

"Heya Night! I was wondering when you were going to come by for your regular visits." She giggled while hoofing one of the cups to him.

"The cakes must really be eating up all this business as of late. I'm guessing it has something to do with some of the new recipes they've added to the menus." Midnight smiled while accepting the cup of hot chocolate with his magic and taking a quick sip, giving a contented sigh and the hot fluid warmed him from the inside out.

"Yea, all those recipe books you donated have been a huge help. When business gets slow they advertise a new recipe. Sometimes they will say that its for a limited time only and business really booms then." Pinkie giggled before taking another sip of her steaming drink.

"I'm glad I could help out. Not to mention having someone finally being able to cook some of the items I never could." He chuckled. "I'm good at a few dishes, but sweets were never really part of my list. Well....... maybe a couple, but thats it."

"That's to bad, everypony loves sweets. Especially me!" She beamed causing Midnight to chuckle again.

"By the way Pinkie, I know its still a while from now, but what would you like for Hearthswarming? I might as well start early." He smiled as he placed his cup to his lips for another drink.

"I want your foal." She grinned causing Midnight to spit out his drink and into a coughing fit. After he got his coughing under control he looked to Pinkie in utter shock, but that was before she started to snort and giggle.

Unable to hold it in any longer she burst out laughing.

"Pinkie, when am I going to learn about you pranking me all the time?" Midnight sighed while face hoofing.

"Hopefully never, your just to much fun to prank, hehehehehee."

"Alright miss smarty pants." He chuckled but stopped as he noticed her confused expression.

"Why'd you call me smarty pants? I'm not Twilight's little dolly." She spoke up, cocking her head to the side in question.

"Huh? Twilight's doll? I'm confused." Midnight asked looking to the pink pony who then began to smile.

"Silly, Smarty pants is the name of Twilight's dolly she has had since she was a foal. Didn't she ever tell you about it?" Pinkie asked looking a little shocked.

"Nope, why does she still have it?" He snickered.

"Yea, she always has it close by. With you and her being together I'm surprised you've never saw it." She giggled.

"I think I might just ask her about it, or play a little prank on her." He grinned causing Pinkie to grin as well.
