Whats love got to do with it?
Chapter 111: 111. Redemption (part 2)
Previous Chapter Next ChapterAs Midnight and Twilight made their way into town, Midnight couldn't help but notice how Twilight was leaning on him and nuzzling him affectionately. He flicked his tail around giving her flank a gentle swat causing her to bolt forward in surprise causing him to chuckle.
"What was that for?" Twilight grumped, pouting out a lip.
"Just doing it to catch your attention miss lovey dovey." He smiled making her blush a bit. "I'm guessing you thought I left you for good earlier huh."
Twilight gave a pout before wrapping her arms around the Alicorn's neck hugging him tightly. He wrapped a foreleg around her hugging back.
"Don't worry Twi, I was just a little mad. It will take more than that to get rid of me." He smiled giving her a kiss.
"I was just so afraid.......... You are my first real relationship partner and when you left like you did the other night. I felt my heart shatter. I don't want to loose you, and if that means I have to suck up my pride and forgive a pony that wronged me in the past. I'll do it." She gave a half hearted smile before Midnight kissed her nose.
"I'm glad you can be so noble about this. Trixie really seems to need a friend right now, and I feel like I'm the only one she has." He spoke as they arrived into the marketplace hearing some light shouting.
"Ah don't care if'n ya came back to apologize. Ya nearly destroyed the town with yer lies and them two colts bringing that giant bear inteh town. Yer lucky ah don't buck ya outta the market." Applejack growled to the now cowering Trixie.
"I'm sorry, I only came back to apologize and to purchase an apple." She sighed hearing her stomach growl.
"Yer apology don't mean nothing teh me nor the town. An if'n ya want an apple their ten bits each." She snapped back angrily.
"AJ! What the hell is wrong with you?" Midnight snorted as he trotted up to the scene from which several ponies were all watching.
"Whut'r ya talkin'bout? This'n here just shows up apologizing like everything's alright." She snorted back.
"I'm perfectly aware of her past and I am going to ask you the same thing I asked Twilight. Will you please forgive her. She has apologized and feels awful from what she did." He asked looking back to Trixie who was hiding slightly behind his forelegs.
AJ lowered her posture scrapping the ground with her forehoof. "You'd best be backin away from my coltfriend missy."
"What? But I thought Twilight was............." She trailed off hearing the orange earth pony snort once again.
"AJ!" Midnight shouted breaking her train of thought for a moment and causing her to look up to him. "You had better stop this right now. Your acting like a foal." He snorted causing her to gawk.
"But she...." She was cut off.
"I don't care what she did in the past. It's all in the past and that's where it will remain. This poor pony has asked for forgiveness from everypony she has come up to today and has been met with the same reaction. Nopony wants to forgive her and that makes me sick. You all forgave me when I was infected with poison joke and ended up hurting a lot of ponies. You forgave me when My evil twin tried to destroy and kill everything in sight. You even forgave me for my past life and all the people I hurt."
"That's different." AJ interjected.
"No it's not! Everything I did was far worse than what she did. So if anyone in Ponyville is going to hold a grudge on her for the tiny infraction she had done, which was nothing more than a small lie, then Ponyville has a grudge against me as well for all of the destruction and pain I have caused." Midnight was not aware until he had finished, but he was speaking out in the royal whee. Once he was done he looked around the marketplace seeing all eyes on him in disbelief.
"Very well, I guess I had better start looking for another place to live then." He snorted in annoyance before he began to trot away.
"Wait........... Night............. ah'm sorry." AJ began causing him to stop. "Yer right, ah think we all just need to swallow our pride'n forgive Trixie." She said as she slowly trotted to the azure unicorn wrapping her in a hug, her eyes going wide from the sudden embrace. Twilight joined in as well causing Trixie to cry softly before many other ponies came to join in as well. Midnight gave a soft smile looking at the sight before him.

After a short time and a few other apologies, Trixie had been welcomed back into Ponyville, although at first glance it had been rough, everything had been settled and forgiven. After some negotiations, Trixie had acquired some land near Fluttershy on the outskirts of the town to build a new home. However, there was a slight problem.
"I can't believe my savings had dwindled to such a low level, I am completely broke now from purchasing that land." Trixie sighed as she looked over her deed to the land she had just purchased. "How am I going to eat? Where am I going to sleep?" She groaned.
"I could help you out if you want." Midnight gave a gentle smile toward Trixie catching her attention.
"No, you've done so much for me already, I couldn't possibly ask for your assistance again." She sighed as she pressed her hooves to her temples rubbing them gently as she tried to come op with a plan of action.
"How about this. From what I know about you already, you're an entertainer. I can supply the bits to build you a new house if you'll be my opening act when I perform in Canterlot Cathedral. Sound like an even trade?" He smiled causing her to gawk in disbelief.
"You perform in Canterlot? But........ what do you do?" She asked while still gawking.
"Well, I'm a musician for one, and I've trained Celestia's royal guard as well. That is just a drop in the bucket though really." He chuckled but stopped as he looked at the expression of disbelief on Trixie's face.
"That surprising?" He asked her giving a chuckle only to see her nod. "So do we have a deal?" He smiled putting forth his hoof which Trixie took up and giving a firm shake. "Alright then. Let's go pick you out a floor plan for your new home." He chuckled.
"Wait, you mean you can just up and buy the items to build any home you want?" Trixie spoke in shock once again.
"I've done a few shows in the cathedral, so yes I have the bits. Plus we don't have to hire a construction crew either. I can build it myself." He chuckled but stopped as he heard a soft sob coming from Trixie.
"Hey..... Hey now, whats with the water works?" He asked trotting up to her and pulling her into a hug.
"I-I'm sorry, it's just that nopony has ever been so kind or willing to go out of their way for me before. I keep thinking this is all a dream, and I don't want to wake up if it is." She sobbed again into Midnight's chest as he hugged her tighter.
"Don't worry, this isn't a dream, and you are going to be perfectly fine, trust me." He smiled nosing her cheek and making her blush. Trixie pulled away slightly, her face flushing lightly before she looked up to Midnight. She gave a slight smile before closing her eyes and raising herself toward him, her lips slightly parted as she pressed forward.
Midnight was slightly surprised by the action, but gave a smile as he leaned down giving her a tender kiss. After a moment they parted, Midnight giving a soft smile while she was blushing ten shades of red.
"Alright, lets go get that floor plan and lumber so we can start on your new home." He chuckled catching her off guard. She watched as he got up and trotted ahead, giving a sigh as she watched his flank the entire time.
"Quite a sight isn't he?" Twilight spoke up derailing her train of thought.
"W-w-w-what?!" Trixie sputtered looking to Twilight who had found a seat right next to her.
"I saw you two kissing." She said while raising a brow toward Trixie.
"I'm so sorry.......... please............. don't make me leave." She began to cry before Twilight stopped her.
"Hey, listen, Midnight and I have an open relationship. Although I am still a little upset about your little event three years ago I have already forgiven you. But don't take that as an invitation to muscle in on my stallion. You can have whatever fun you want with him, but he is still mine." She smirked trotting ahead to Midnight's side.
Trixie sat there in shock as to what she had just heard before a smile crept across her face and she took off after the two.
