Gorn Industries Weapon Testing Ground

Sixtary 21, 1035 ANM

0957 hours

The obstacle course was littered with a mixture of targets and automated defense turrets, gatling guns controlled by computers currently raised upwards and inactive. As the dark green and yellow Shadow Bolt suit sped towards them. The turrets dropped with a mechanical whine, and began to spit bullets towards the target as the barrels sped round and round at blurring speed.

The Shadow Bolt danced through the air, weaving in between the trails of bullets while never letting a single one touch it. As the fire slackened, the mobile suit extended its left arm. It fired its Linear Rifle at the targets. Burst of blue energy shot from the muzzle of the rifle, obliterating the targets before it. As each target was destroyed the gatling gun that was connected to it fell silent. In a matter of moments there were no guns firing at all.

The mobile suit vaulted over the obstacles with an unnecessary backflip that nonetheless made the assembled dignitaries gasp in awe. With a humming of engines, the Shadow Bolt descends to the tarmac of the airfield where the demonstration was taking place.

Spitfire ambled down the steps in the middle of the display seats. She half-expected — half-hoped — that one of the assembled Gorn dignitaries would stop and challenge her presence, but they were all too fixated on the demonstration in front of them to pay her any notice.

She found Crescent Moon near the front, chin resting on his hoofs. He looked up as she approached, "Do you really think that nopony's going to realize that the captain of Equestria’s Wonderbolts is here just because you dropped your flight suit?”

"They won't so long as you keep quiet about it," Spitfire slid into the seat next to Crescent Moon. "Nopony's said anything so far."

"I still don't know how the princess talked you into coming out here."

“I’m not sure either. But I’m not doing anything wrong, and my passport is in complete order," Spitfire smirked. "So, what do you think?"

“Gorn Industries’ solar powered mobile suit equipped with all of the latest stealth technologies: the Shadow Bolt," Crescent Moon said. "Work on their civilian technologies is slow and small, so to save their face they’re showing off their military capabilities."

More gatling guns rose up out of the ground to fire on the Shadow Bolt, which activated the Defense Rod on its right arm, deflecting all the bullets harmlessly. The green and yellow paintwork wasn't even scratched.

“Ya know, Gorn Industries sure do have some nerve.” Spitfire said. “Performing the demonstration of their new model on the same day as the 35th anniversary of Princess Luna’s return and the first meeting of the Elements of Harmony.” She sighs. “If they hadn’t decided to do that today, I could've been performing there right now.”

Crescent Moon sighed as he leaned back, “I hear you. And it’s just a pity that both Princess Celestia and Princess Twilight agree that manufacturing weapons like mobile suits is just a wast of time and resources. Though I personally think that mobile suits can be used for other purposes than just fighting wars.”

“Really?” Spitfire asked.

“Yes, and I also think that this Shadow Bolt model is just an excuse for Gorn Industries to show off.”

“You there!" an angry voice boomed out of the Shadow Bolt's speakers. The cockpit hatch in the mobile suit's head opened, and a blue and yellow stallion in a purple flight suit climbed out to glare at the crowd who’d come to watch him and his suit show off. “I can hear you, jerk!" The Gorn Industries pilot yelled. “What did you just say? I demand to know!”

"Possibly the sound reception is better than I thought," Crescent Moon said as Spitfire chuckles.

QN 001-TS Gundam Dusk Shine MF mode

Far up above, the Gundam Dusk Shine descended from the heavens. In the cockpit, Lance scanned the ground below him and soon spots what he’s looking for. "Target confirmed: Gorn mobile suit demonstration," he said. “Commencing first phase on schedule.” He added as he switches his Gundam to its mobile suit mode.

Control Tower

As the Gorns in the control room have done hundreds of times before, they watch the radar, skies and ground for 100 kilometers in every direction. Nothing is out of the ordinary. Occasionally a tumbleweed or a pack of wild dogs would distract them from the boredom, but nothing else, that is until one Trooper spots something in the sky. “Commander! I’ve spotted an incoming silhouette!”

“What!?”

“Its at three o’clock, sir!” The Trooper added. Looking at the direction, they all see a light cobalt blue glow defending towards the tarmac.

“Which squadron? This is an exercise, damn it! Warn them off!”

“It’s not showing up on radar!”

“Nothing on the heat sensors, sir!”

“Then get a visual on it!” The Commander demanded. Zooming in on the unknown, they see a mobile suit. The machine appears to be 19 meters in height. Its white, midnight blue and purple, meaning only one thing. “All hands at the battle stations! A Gundam has appeared!”

Tarmac

“What!? A Gundam is here!? Why now?” The disguised Knight En-Act asked, when the comlink suddenly dies. Looking up, he and the spectators see that the Gundam has almost landed.

“A mobile suit!” The surprised Spitfire exclaimed.

“Incredible! I didn’t know they had another new model.” Crescent Moon said.

“I don’t think that’s a Gorn Industries model,” Spitfire said as she takes a closer look at it. “What’s up with that light?” She asked as the suit lands and turns to face the Shadow Bullet. The crowd gasps in shock and surprise.

Suddenly, a Gorn Industries member grabs his phone and tries to call the pilot of the Shadow Bolt’s pilot. “En-Act! Can you hear me? En-Act! Shit, I can’t get through.”

“Communications are out?” Spitfire asked, she and Crescent Moon — along with a few others — having overheard.

“Everyone!” Another member of Gorn Industries said. “We’ve been advised to evacuate.”

Some of the dignitaries immediately began to scramble for the exits. Spitfire remained where she was, grabbing the binoculars off somepony in the seat in front of her. "Excuse me."

"Hey!"

"I said excuse me.” Spitfire looked at the mobile suit closely, and sees a word on its shield. “Gun…dam? Is that the name of the mobile suit or something else?” She asked as she gives the binoculars back to the pony.

“A Gundam?” Crescent Moon asked as the pilot of the Shadow Bolt returned to his cockpit. “And if that’s not a Gorn Industries machine, then whose is it?”

“Alright, why the hell are you here?” The Shadow Bolt’s pilot asked as he enters the cockpit. “Come to destroy the last Shadow Bolt, are you? Well, I, Knight En-Act, ain’t gonna let that happen too easily. Since your friend killed my friends and you’re a party crasher you’re about to pay the PRICE!”

“What the hell is that idiot doing out there?” Another member asked. “Does he know how much it cost us just to developed that thing!?”

“It’s a good opportunity. This will just raise the value of the Shadow Bolt.” Knight At-Lass said. “After all, Knight En-Act had the highest test scores of all of Princess Lo-Vee’s trainees. Also the Gundams target the Shadow Bolts after they killed the pilots, not when the pilots were in the suit. So I’m sure En-Act can handle it. It’s his personality I’m worried about.”

“Hey, you!” En-Act shouted after the Gundam hasn’t done a thing for about a minute now. “I’m not going to fall to you. After all I’ve never lost a single mock battle, because I’m just that special. So…” The Shadow Bullet’s arm suddenly pop up and a Progressive Knife pops out, which En-Act grabs as the air all around thrumming as it began to vibrate. “Don’t say that I didn’t warn you.” The noise is so loud that most of the dignitaries cover their ears in pain.

“That idiot!”

“Take this!" En-Act yelled as he charges for the Gundam. The Gundam waited until Ne-Act was poised to strike. Then one arm swept upwards. A blade appeared in the Gundam's hand. The Shadow Bolt’s knife hand flew up into the air, severed from its arm, and landed on the airstrip with a thud.

“What the hell!?” Spitfire gasped along with several others.

“You-You bastard! You don’t get it do you!?” En-Act screams as he tries to aim the Linear Riffle, but the Gundam cuts off his gun arm before he could take a shot. "I've never been defeated in 2,000 mock battles-“ The Gundam cut off her left leg and kicked the Shadow Bolt to the ground. “-I'm special!" En-Act finished as the Shadow Bolt hit the deck with a crash, laying in a creator in a dusty, broken heap. The spectators gasped at the ruin that had been a prized mobile suit in a matter of seconds.

“No way!” Crescent Moon gasped.

“Dusk Shine. First phase complete. Now proceeding to second phase.” Lance said into his comlink.

Observation Seats

Even though they are still processing what they just saw, the Gundam suddenly began emitting an especially large burst of the cobalt blue light from its back and the tips of its wings as it took off. “Again that light.” Said Spitfire.

“How can it fly without a propulsion system?” Crescent Moon asked, when the hatch in the Shadow Bolt’s head pops open.

“Where is it?! Where’d he go!” A pissed En-Act asked a he got out.

“Wow! Either he has dumb luck or that Gundam left him alive on purpose,” Spitfire said as the Gorn Industries pilot begins to curse. “We should head back to Equestria immediately.”

“Right. Celestia and the others need to know about this.” The two then leave the testing grounds before they would get questioned. “What do you think that Gundam wanted?”

“Probably one of two things; either it wanted to hamper Gorn Industries build up, or it’s meant to be a warning. Either way there’s no way that Gorn Industries is taking something like this lying down.” Spitfire said as a siren wails, indicating that several Wind Light suits — which are smaller but faster versions of the Shadow Light that have a mobile fighter mode — are about to take off.

June 21, 3330 AD

1005 hours

“Dusk Shine has passed the schedule operation time for first phase. It is most likely in the second phase.” A changeling said as he and a few others watch the monitors, with Chrysalis and Hilary overlooking them.

“I wonder if Lance and the others are doing all right out there.”

“Well, if they’re not than that pretty much spells the end of us, does it?”

“That’s enough idle chatter you two.” Chrysalis barked. “It’s almost time to commence the third phase.”

“Then let’s send Amani and Imamu out.” Hilary said, a lot more serious than normal.

Launching Bay

“Our first fight in over a month. You finally got what you wanted Asami. But this is depressing to me.” Amani said a she puts on her helmet while the hatch opens. The catapult itself extends outwards and aims towards the sky.

“Sand Dune on catapult. Increasing liner catapult voltage from 230 to 520. Sand Dune stabilized with liner field. Launch preparations complete. Transferring timing control to Sand Dune.” Said one of the changelings.

“Roger. I have control. Sand Dune. Amani Quattro. Commencing intervention.” She said as she releases the catapults hooks and takes off into the sky towards Twilight’s castle.

10:10 a.m.

“Once again Pinkie, you and your daughters have outdone yourselves.” Rarity said as she and the other Elements of Harmony — along with Celestia, Luna and Cadence — enjoy some punch.

“Thanks! Cloudy did drop a disco ball or two, but the plaza is perfect!” The hyperactive pink mare said as she pointed out the loud speakers, dance floor with dancing lights, various games, snack tables scattered about, and the hundreds of ponies enjoying it. “We probably couldn’t have done it without Cheesy though. He really helped out a lot.”

“Speaking of him, are you doing okay?” Rainbow asked.

“Well … Uh.”

“You’re still sad about you’re break up?” Twilight asked, not used to seeing her friend act like that.

“Sometimes I wonder what everything would be like if we kept at it.” Pinkie admitted. “He was always traveling and I always stayed here. Sure, Pokey is nice and all, but he’s no Cheesy.”

“Have they been gettin’ along, sugarcube?” Applejack asked.

“Still a bit awkward around each other, but fine.”

Deciding it would be best not to continue, Cadence looks towards her aunt Luna. “Specking of relationships, have you and your daughter been getting along, Luna?” Cadence asked her.

“A little bit, but nothing too big yet.” Luna answered. “Whenever she gets out of her ‘rebellion-years’ I’m sure we’ll be getting along better.”

“Does she still have that little crush on my son?” Rarity asked.

“Yes. She still has a picture of him under her pillow.” Luna whispered at a low enough volume. “I think she was also the one who put in a word for him to join the Royal Guard.”

“I’m just surprised that Annie hasn’t suggested a threesome with her, T and Nidra yet.” Rarity added, making the mares all giggle at how Annie can get about that kind of stuff.

A few meters away, Wu is watching them and the ponies who go by them closely, even there husbands who join them and the news crew from ENN. “Nothing yet.” He said to Cheese and he plays his accordion.

“How do you think everypony — I mean everybody is doing?” He asked.

“If I know Lance, than he’s slicing up some mobile suits.”

QN 001-TS Gundam Dusk Shine MS mode

June 21, 3330 AD

1010 hours

The Dusk Shine danced among the clouds, fending off the increasing numbers of green and blue Shadow Lights that assailed it. The cannon in the shield fired off burst of cobalt blue energy, while the physical blade on it's right wrist did good work on any mobile suit that got too close.

Still, the Wind Lights kept coming. As he had predicted, the Gorns had stationed increased numbers of mobile suits underneath the testing ground and those mobile suits scrambled now to fill the air around the Dusk Shine with tracer rounds as they sought to use their numerical superiority to surround and destroy the Gundam. “Just like what we thought. The Gorn base extends underground in violation of Bisonia's laws.”

QN 006-R Gundam Evasive

“Amanda! Reinforcements approaching. Reinforcements approaching.” Violet said as Amanda chuckles.

“Even Lance would have trouble in this situation. Well, shall we take aim?” Amanda asked as the sniper scoop drops. “Let’s go! The Gundam Evasive and Amanda Yamamoto is targeted and firing!”

QN 001-TS Gundam Dusk Shine MS mode

Up above, the Gorn mobile suits fell back and regrouped before attacking again in an even tighter formation than before, but they’re keeping their distance. “Keep your distance! It might be a Gundam but there’s only one. Surround it!” The Commander said over the Wind Light's speakers, since the comlinks are malfunctioning.

Suddenly, a cornflower blue laser beam shots up and shoots down one of the Wind Lights. “Enemy attack!”

“From where!?” The Commander asked, when another beam hits the Wind Light next to him.

“It’s from below!”

“Nice shooting Amanda.” Lance complimented over the comlink.

QN 006-R Gundam Evasive

“Why thank you.” Amanda said in between shots. “Targeted and firing!” She shouted as she shoots down two more Shadow Lights.

QN 001-TS Gundam Dusk Shine MS mode

“It’s firing from the ground!” The Commander cried as he watches his last Trooper eject from the Shadow Light as it falls. Suddenly the Gundam he was chasing appears in front of him. He gasps in shock and terror as the Gundam slices his Wind Light clean in half. The two pieces fall for a few moments before exploding. The second phase is now complete.

11:00 p.m.

“So that mobile suit is exposing the unlawful construction methods that Gorn Industries has done?” Crescent Moon asked as he and Spitfire watch the wide assortment of animals run on the grasslands below them.

“Looks like it.” Spitfire replied. “Apparently it’s trying to show the world that Gorn Industries has more power than it’s letting on. This is a check and a warning.”

“And why would it want to do that?”

“That’s something you’re going to have to ask the pilot of that Gundam thing. But I doubt Gorn Industries is going to keep quiet after this.”

Canterlot Castle’s Royal Guard radar station

Sixtary 21, 1035 ANM

11:30 a.m.

It was just another boring day. You think that being a Royal Guard meant standing still at some doorway, but there are a variety of jobs that the Royal Guard offers. One was watching Equestria’s skies for enemies. So far nothing had come up, except for the strange weather pattern forming above the Everfree Forest heading for Twilight’s castle.

One such cloud just shoot of a bolt of lighting. “Another unstable thunder cloud. The Everfree Forest has been acting really weird even for it today.” One guard said.

“It does seem a little strange,” another noted.

“It’s probably just some pegasi messing around.” Another guard guessed.

“Is there a lookout ballon near the forest?” The captain asked.

“Yes, sir.”

“Then have it get a visual on these anomalies at maximum magnification. Don’t forget that there’s a ceremony still going on at Princess Twilight’s castle.”

“Roger that Captain.” A guard said as a video feed of the forests appears on the screen. The clouds are mostly gray and seem to be normal, until a lightning bolt hits something in the air, causing it to explode.

The guards and the captain all gasp at the sight. “What the…?”

“I’m going to try and enlarge the image, sir!” A guard said. After a second or two, something underneath the clouds comes up. Four large objects — two of them carrying something — and flying just below the clouds.

“Those look like Shadow Light mobile suits!” Said the captain with shock and distress in his voice.

“Incredible! They must’ve snuck into Equestria in the clouds!”

“If they get carless and move up to the cloud even a little bit, then the mobile suit, along with its pilot, will be-” Suddenly a lighting bolt hits one of the Shadow Light suits, causing it to explode. “What did I tell ya!?”

“Looks like these guys are pretty determined.”

“Are they terrorists?”

The captain growled. “Inform the princesses immediately and give the order for the Pegasus Guard Defense Force to scramble!”

“Damn it! Only cowards attack during a ceremony!” A pegasus guard said as he and several others get ready.

“But sir I’ve only had about 120 hours of arial combat training.” A rookie said to the captain.

“Well, then just crash into them. You’ll get a two rank promotion.” The captain said as he grapes a missile luncher.

In the plaza, Nidra is fooling around as her friends laugh, while their parents watch. “Nidra is such a rebel,” her father, Supernova, said. Suddenly a guard runs up to them.

“Princesses…” the panting guard tried to say.

“What is it?” Celestia asked.

“Shadow Light mobile suits have been spotted heading in this direction.” The guard answered, getting a gasp from some of the mares.

“Shadow Lights? Damn Gorn Industries!” Shining Armor said under his breath. “This is happening because they’ll sell those weapons to any little tinpot nation or group.”

“What is their ETA?” Flash Sentry asked.

“Five minutes, but we’re about to send a pegasus platoon with missal lunchers to intercept them.”

Wu and Cheese look at each other as they listen. “So they finally found out, huh?” Cheese asked.

“Yep. And I must admit it. Chrysalis’ information network sure can find dirt on anything.” Wu said as he calmly drinks some soda.

“B3 area. Maximum priority. Three-hundred seconds until backup teams scrambles. Until then we’ll prevent the unknowns form entering the non-combat area.” The captain said a she and about 10 other pegasus guards fly off to the forest.

“Canterlot control to all pegasi,” the guards in Canterlot said over the comlinks. “The unknowns will reach the cattle in 0287.”

“Guards, we’ll block the enemy en route!” the captain ordered as they near the edge of the forest.

“The enemy has change course!” The rookie said as he sees the 3 Shadow Light suits move behind a race track.

“Damn it! They’re hiding behind the Wonderbolt ring!”

“After them!” The captain shouted as he and the other guards sped up.

“But captain we’re on our own.”

“Stay focus and fire!” The captain barked as he fires the missile luncher along with several others. But the Shadow Lights are too far away and moving to fast. All of the missiles miss their mark. “Crap!”

“Everyone needs to remain calm!” Starburst shouted over the panicking crowd as they all leave.

“With any luck all of us will get out of this alive.” Starfall added, until he looks in the direction that the Shadow Lights are coming from. “Oh no! Look!” The box that the two Shadow Lights are carrying opens, showing three missiles that are primed.

“We need to teleport everypony to safety!” Illusion cried. Just then the three missiles are fired at the castle.

“It’s too late!” Cried Prism as the missiles are about to hit the-

Whoosh!

A yellow colored laser suddenly appears and hits one of the missiles, essentially destroying the other twi with it. “Uh, what just happened?” Whirlwind asked. Everypony that hadn’t evacuated yet was just as surprised. Where did that laser come from?

Looking in the direction, Soarin sees something; a small, yellow light moving towards them. “What is that?” he asked as the object gets closer. *For combat music, listen to this*

“It’s a Gundam. Gundam Sand Dune.” Said Wu as the Gundam flies pasts the pegasi guards at the ring.

“What the hell was that!?” The captain asked.

QN 004-FS Gundam Sand Dune

“Chrysalis’ information network sure is amazing,” said Amani as she flies towards the terrorist mobile suits. The two that were holding the missile luncher drop it and turn to face the Gundam while the third charges towards the castle.

Amani fires at one of the Shadow Lights and destroys its head, killing the pilot. As the second one fires at her machine, Amani skillfully evades each shot before firing back, hitting its head as well. “Sorry about that.” She said, when her scanners find that that third one is heading straight for the castles plaza. “A suicide attack? Terrorists are all the same. Imamu do you read?”

“Is he crazy!? He’s heading straight for us!” Said Nidra.

“We need to get everyone out of here at once!” Celestia demanded, when the radio suddenly dies.

“What happened to the music?” Pinkie asked.

“Seriously? That’s what your worried about?” A disbelieving Pokey Pierce asked. “We have a suicide attacker heading straight for us and-” Suddenly a shadow appears above them. A mobile suit, standing about 18.6 meters in height, has just appeared and is floating in between the terrorist and the plaza. The mobile suit has a mostly white body, with orange and yellow armor on its body and arms. On its shoulders are two orange cannons the size of its head. It's carrying a gatling gun and a machine gun on holsters in its back. The arms themselves are bulky, and they look like the two halves of a cannon. There are also two cannons on the mobile suits legs. Its head is similar to a knight's helmet. Above its crystal clear green eyes is a golden v-shaped fin.

Looking closely, Twilight makes out a word engraved on the mobile suits leg. “Gun…dam? What does that mean?” She asked.

“Rapidfire.” Wu said under his breath.

QN 003-AJ Gundam Rapidfire

“Rapidfire. Preparing to destroy target.” Imamu said as the armor on his Gundams arms splits off them. Grabbing the two pieces, he joins them together into one large bazooka-like cannon. It takes only a few short seconds to charge the cannon. “Releasing compressed particles.” He fires and a giant dark green beam blast is fired at the Shadow Light mobile suit. Within seconds the armor melts away before the suit explodes. After the blast dissipates, Imamu separates the bazooka and reattaches them to his Gundams arms. “The third phase is now complete.”

“Don’t you think that was a little overkill?” Amani asked as they leave.

“What were those things?” Discord asked as he and everyone else stare at the two white mobile suits, bewildered.

2:30 p.m.

“Good afternoon. This is ENN news.” A news mare said as Princess Celestia, Luna, the Elements of Harmony, Discord, Supernova, Shining Armor and Princess Cadence, along with their family members — and Starfall — all eagerly watch. “In our lead story we continue our coverage of the attack of the 35th anniversary party of Princess Luna’s return and first meeting of the Elements of Harmony held at Princess Twilight’s castle. Earlier around 11:40 a.m. the castle was attack by what appear to have been terrorist mobile suits. The mobile suits launched missiles at the castle at approximately 11:42 a.m. Subsequently the the missiles and mobile suits were intercepted by as of yet unidentified mobile weapons; a mobile fighter who destroyed the missiles and two of the mobile suits and a mobile suit that destroyed the last terrorist suit. This footage was taken by the ENN crew who happened to be on location at the time.” She finished as the footage is shown.

“Who were those guys?” Prism asked. “I’m glade that they stopped the terrorist, but those mobile weapons they have … I don’t even want to think about what they can do.”

“What does all of this mean?” Celestia asked, when Spitfire and Crescent Moon barge in.

“Looks like we’re not the only ones who saw a Gundam.” Spitfire said as she watches the footage.

“What do you mean?” Luna asked them.

“Did something happen at the demonstration?” Twilight asked.

“Yes. A white mobile suit suddenly appeared.” Crescent Moon answered.

“Not only did it humiliate the Shadow Bolt and its pilot, but it also revealed that Gorn Industries base extends several miles outside of the testing ground under the surface, violating Bisonia law.” Spitfire added.

“We have an update on the incident.” The news mare suddenly said. “ENN — along with several other news networks — have just received a video message from an organization that claims it is responsible for preventing the attack and saving the castle and everypony in it.”

“Really?” Sugar Rush asked.

“It’s not clear who they are, or if the claims they are making in the video are genuine. But what is clear is that they are involved in the incident. Now for our viewers we will broadcast it unedited.”

A tall and bipedal creature appeared on the screen. It lacked any fur except on the top of its head, said fur being a dark gray. The creature was clearly a male. He sported a white lab coat with a purple undershirt and dark blue leggings. Twilight's eyes widen in pure shock at the creature in the video. "Isn't that a-" Twilight failed to finish her sentence when the creature in the video, clearly a human, spoke up.
