CHAPTER EIGHT: Prelude

"Don't forget the plan Dorchester! She will pay..."

"I know, I know." I snapped at myself. I've felt myself lose more and more of myself, while this voice gains whatever power I've lost. I'm beginning to wonder if there is a second side to me... but which one am I living? I was walking towards the picnic area that Frederic sent to me in a letter, the map of course, not the actual place. The sun was still high in the sky, I just wanted to get there, eat, and leave.l

"Welcome Dorchester." Frederic greeted me with a smile. I smiled back, the entire time I didn't hear the voice. I guess I should give the voice a name. Corruption, I thought. He guides me to my corrupted goal. This side, I would call... Chiro. A shorter term for Light in italian. I was Chiro now, he guided my fate at this moment. I sat down and watched the clouds swirl, form, and deform as they passed the bright blue sky. I was pegasus storm across the clouds, land, chat, laugh, and take off like nothing had ever happened. They felt... at peace. As did I. Luna's glowed and a picnic basket floated towards the center of the blanket that spread over the grass. It was filled with delicious food, hay burgers, hay sandwiches, everything a pony would love. We all took something from the basket, I took a hay sandwich and began to slowly nibble on it, I wasn't too hungry, but I didn't want to look rude. I looked behind me, I saw Luna and Frederic up against each other, Luna's head lay on his shoulder. I looked back at my sandwich and finished it.

Luna gasped

"What is it?" Frederic asked, Luna took his hoof and put it on her stomach. Frederic smiled and kissed her. Another memory of the same thing flashed through my mind. Corruption took hold now.

"Make her pay!"

"No!" I yelled inside my head, not today. I felt... good. I felt my hoof being pulled and it went up against Luna's stomach. Frederic put it there, I looked at him and he smiled.

"Congrats." There. I finally said it. I felt better, like a ton of bricks have been lifted off my chest. I removed my hoof and looked at the sky again. We watched it in silence for hours, until the sun began to set over the horizon.

"Why?" I asked myself.

"It's getting late." I heard Frederic say behind me.

"I know." Luna said before yawning. I felt tired as well, I just lay there on my stomach, thinking about what to do. Soon, I could see faint stars form in the dark sky.

"Let me get this straight, you put every single star up there, by yourself, forming the constellations?"

"Yeah."

"Impressive."

I wanted to throw up. I got up, which made the ones behind me jump.

"I... need to go." I said before leaving. I felt there stares burn my back... I just left them without any reason, and I felt good because of it. When I returned to my house, I picked up a book. Equestrian History, this looked good. I read until I passed out due to exhaustion...

-~The next day~-

I woke up and checked my mail, a letter from Frederic. Odd.

Dear Ryan,

I do realize you do still have feelings for her, I respect that. I just hope someday you can truly forgive her, I would, it's all of the past now. Nothing to worry about, I hope. Trust me, if you need ANYTHING, just send us a letter, and we'll make it a priority to get it to you. I must stop now, Anabell won't stop playing tricks on everypony and I need to stop her.

Your friend, Frederic

I crumpled up the letter and threw it into the fireplace. I felt Corruption take hold, he had no idea.

-~A Few Months Later~-

The cursed day has finally arrived, the birth of the damned twins. I couldn't help but feel happy for Frederic and Luna, even though every time I thought about it I felt a large urge to smash his head into the wall. But that wasn't the point, I walked into the room and watched the birth.

"Thank you for coming Dorchester, it means a lot to us." Frederic sake, she held a cloth soaked in water on Luna's forhead. I nodded.

"Alright alright! I'm going in!" I heard Lance walk in.

"Hey Dorchester," Lance said before.

"OH GREAT GOD!" He screamed, and fainted. I chuckled,

"I got it." I said, I took hold of Lance's hooves and dragged him out of the room. Zorrow looked up at me and laughed.

"Lemme guess," He said.

"Of course." I answered him before he could finish. I left Lance out there, out cold. I returned into the bedroom and sat down on the... couch. I wondered if it was still a pullout bed... I searched for the lever to make it a pullout bed, yup, there it was. I pulled it and a footrest showed up and nailed Frederic in the back of the head.

"Fuck! What was that for?" Frederic yelled, my cheeks flushed red.

"Heh... oops."

Frederic snickered and continued to tend to Luna. I saw one of the twins head pop out, not as bad as Lance thought it would be, I actually cherished life. I thought it was a blessing, not some disguisting way into the world.

"How are you feeling?" I asked Luna, she looked up at me.

"I'm... fine." She said. Luna went back to pushing. I swayed back and forth on the couch. I suddenly remembered that the castle had a instrument storage, for events like a wedding, and The Grand Galloping Gala. Maybe... they had a few string instruments...

"I'll be right back." I said, I bolted off to find the storage room. I found everything I needed. I replayed a part of the song inside my head, and I grabbed the viola from it's case and rushed back into the room.

"The hell?" Frederic said.

"Quiet you!" I snapped jokingly, he chuckled at my smart remark. I began to slowly play the main part of Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber, he was my favorite classical music artist. I had first heard this song on a plane during a trip to Florida, I was simply taken away by it's amazing sound. I knew this would do the trick. I had "borrowed" a copy of the music from the internet back on Earth, and would play it every night I had trouble sleeping. It would be perfect. Frederic and Luna both looked at me in pure shock. I stayed focused on playing, even when the first foal was born I didn't take my eyes off my instrument, I played the song over and over again until the twins had been born and I needed to no longer play.

"You can... have it." Luna said, she held the first born in her hooves, while Frederic held the other. I looked at them with tears in my eyes. I nodded and left the room, I was moved by their love, their determination, their... understanding. I didn't want to hurt anypony anymore. But... that peaceful bliss was sadly, short lived. It only took a few days until I was taken hold by Corruption again, and I began to redo my plans. Everything meant nothing to me, I would cry myself to sleep every night, with that terrible nightmare I was kill Frederic, Luna, and then the unborn twins. I was given a new home, next to Canterlot Castle, right under the same balcony I first went to, outside of Luna's room. It was always left open, whenever I would awake from that nightmare, I would get up, grab my instrument, and begin to play outside next to the window. The first night, I heard hoovesteps, I saw Luna and Frederic come out together, I would still play and the two would look down upon me and stay until I finished playing. Little do they know the reason I did such things. I knew it was better to think to myself about that specific matter. One night, the dream was different. I saw myself, with Corruption, we both stood over the dead bodies of Luna and Frederic, next to us sat their children. Weeping over their parents corpses, every night the dream would continue a little more, until it ended.

"Mommy... daddy..." Nova whimpered, Luna and Frederic's throats had been slit, blood pouring out. I would roar with laughter behind them, and murder the twins as I did them. Before the murder could end, I would always awake laughing, just like in the dream. It was different that night, I didn't get up to play, I just laid there, I would still be laughing, becoming more and more insane by the minute.

I held a picture of Luna, Frederic, and the twins in my hooves with the faces of the twins and Luna's "beloved husband" crossed out in black ink. I held it, looking at Luna's smiling face.

"I will have you..." I would whisper...

"My Lost Love... I will have you..." It happened. Every night.
