Loyalty To Love
Chapter 29: Chapter 29- Losing Chaos
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"Discord? Discord!"
"Huh?" The draconnequus sat up straight. Looking around for the pony who called his name. He yawned as he glanced up the pearl white alicorn beside him.
"What is it?"
"I was just making sure that you were okay." The mare explained. She grew worried for the spirit. He was known for his wacky tricks and extravagant magic that could twist reality to his will. His sarcastic yet surprisingly hilarious attitude. And his cocky smirk.
Yet, he was just sitting here. Tired. Exhausted. Close to death's door. And she worried for him so. It was true that her feelings for him were behind her in the past, when he was a gentle, caring spirit.
But as she spent more time with him within the last few weeks, those feelings grew once more.
"You were looking like you were going to collapse any second." She added. The two were sitting alone in the throne room. Princess Cadence had to be carried away by her husband, and Luna had returned to her chambers. Although she was continuing her ordinary duties, she felt strained and tired.
With everypony gone, and the guards on the other side of the door, it left the two beings alone. And the throne room was created especially to hold more magic than the rest of the castle. This did have an effect on Discord's magic, not greatly, but still there. It made his magic a little bit more ordered, as it was pure chaotic energy.
"I'm not. I'm just tired. And this throne isn't very comfortable, so that doesn't help." He yawned again, flicking his scaled red tail. "If only this was a cloud, softest thing ever. If only I could properly use my magic again." He muttered. He greatly missed chaos. His chaos. He missed the pranks and tricks. He just wanted to be the laid back, hilarious trickster he was.
"I know. But, you have to stay here. Usually, it's easier to perform magic in here. It's more concentrated."
"Urgh. I've never felt so pathetically weak in my life. This is ridiculous." He grumbled. He was Discord. He was the master, the lord, the King of chaos. And here he was. Sitting weakly attempting to raise the giant ball of gas, known as the sun, and keep the magical harmonic barrier in a stable, ordered condition.
"Urgh. Harmony and order. Why do you need such boring things?"
"You're weak because you are not used to this. And your magic was not made to do this. But you're far from pathetic, Discord. You're sacrificing a lot just to protect Equestria. You're sacrificing your time, your magic, your energy, your life. Just to keep everypony else alive and well." Celestia reassured. "It's a great sacrifice, Discord."
"I'm reformed. I'm am one with Equestria. I'm here to help. Griffins don't deserve the sanctuary of this land." He muttered. The griffins were vicious, brutal creatures. And he hated it.
"I despise their brutal manner. There is no need for physical violence."
"And you're suddenly a peace-keeper? My, Fluttershy did do a good job on reforming you." Celestia chuckled, with Discord joining her.
"No, it wasn't Fluttershy. All she did was offer the friendship I had long lost." He turned away from the alicorn, who's smile dropped. "No. I have never been one for violence. Nor death. It is not humorous. I prefer the more mental approach. Get into my enemies physiologically. Getting inside of their head."
"Why couldn't you help Twilight then?"
"The griffins have used a different method. It's more blunt. My way is more twisted to get in the crooks and crannies of their mind. To get to their inner fears. And create havoc upon their sanity. I couldn't save Twilight." He sighed. Manipulation was his thing. He was the definition of manipulation and hypnosis. And even when the griffins, creatures who could not understand or use magic, used a basic and blunt hypnosis, he could not unwind it. No matter what he did, he couldn't help Twilight.
And this made him feel even more pathetic.
"I see." Celestia muttered. She turned towards the window, with the sun shining outside. Hovering above the sweet land. She noticed a ripple of glimmer flow through the land.
"Thank you. Thank you so much, Discord. For everything you are doing. I am, so grateful. So very grateful. When Twilight struck me, and numbed me of my magic, I believed that the end was nigh. Thank you. I don't know what would have happened if you weren't here."
"I would probably still be your garden ornament." He mumbled. Making Celestia sigh.
They sat in utter silence for a couple of minutes. The only sound was that of the wind outside. Celestia breathed in heavily and turned to the draconnequus. Who was experiencing another migraine.
"What was it like?"
Discord sat up and stared at the princess with complete confusion.
"To be encased in stone. What was it like?" She asked again, watching as the spirit lowered his head.
"Like an abyss of never ending pain. Fluttershy dear, asked the same as well. But I told her otherwise. I told her that it was nothing. The truth is that....never be set in stone. Others believe that nothing would happen. You'd just be frozen. It's not. It's incredibly painful."
"How so?"
"It takes a toll on your physical body. It makes you feel like there is no such thing as mercy. The pain and agony was never-ending. And as was the mental torture. Being confined within the depths of one's mind is not the way you would want to spend a thousand years in."
"I'm sorry. The Elements were completely new to us. We knew their immense power, and we were still clueless. I'm so sorry you had to be set in-"
"Don't be. I was a menace. Despite the fact that I thought I would be a brilliant ruler, I was causing misery upon ponies. I should be the one apologising." Discord turned to the alicorn with an innocent smile, which made Celestia blush. "I'm sorry for the dismay I caused."
"O-oh! No, it's fine. You are the incarnation of chaos after all." She quickly squeaked. Quickly turning her head away to hide her awkward blush. Discord noticed this and tilted his head. Although he was still on bad terms with the princess, and he still held a grudge against her, he was still concerned for her. After all, they had become friends once more.
"Are you okay, Celestia? You seem very bothered by something. Is something on your mind?" He asked, he had an idea of what the alicorn was thinking. But couldn't pinpoint it.
"You can tell me. After all, I'm stuck here. A little light chat would be nice."
"It's nothing. Nothing is bothering me. I-I-I....I'm just tired. That's all." She sheepishly grinned. "I'm just so tired. I never realised how weak I was without magic."
"Well, you're an alicorn. Although you have the strength of an earth pony, you have magical strength. With that gone, of course you're going to feel weak." He stated.
"You know an awful lot on magic, don't you?"
"Oh, of course. Magic had always mesmerised me when I was young. And besides, how could I not know about magic. I am magic. Chaos is magic."
"True." Celestia muttered to herself. She was just about to open her mouth to ask the draconnequus more questions, when a white stallion entered.
"Oh, Shining Armour! How are you? And Cadence?"
"Cadence and I have seen better days. She's still devastated about Twilight. So am I." Shining held his head low. He felt so disappointed in himself. He failed to protect his sister and his wife. It made him feel so useless.
"Anyway, I have received a message from the east. Commander Feather Tail is on his way here. Along with Twilight. He'll be arriving tomorrow evening."
"Thank you, Shining. Go to Cadence. She needs you most right now." Celestia hushed.
"Yes. But what about you, Princess? And Princess Luna? Her guards have been demolished. She's no longer protected. And the Royal Guard has crumbled. It's only me and a few guards." The unicorn explained.
"I know. We are aware of that." Celestia muttered. "But you're wife should be your biggest priority right now."
"She is. I just want you to be safe as well. You are like a mother to Twilight. I don't think she'll forgive me if I let anything happen to you again."
"Don't you worry, Shining Armour. I have Discord by my side." She smiled, turning to the spirit. Who weakly smiled back, despite the dizziness returning to him.
"Are you sure, your highness? He's not in a stable condition right now."
"He never is." Celestia said bluntly.
"Hey!" Discord snapped. "I may be half unconscious right now, but I can still hear you!"
"Pttf. One would have thought you've gone deaf by now. Considering how 'boring' I am, and how much I apparently talk your ears off." She sneered.
"Oh ha ha. So very funny, Tia. To think that you actually listen to moi. Isn't everything I say just mindless babble to you?"
"It is! Half the time I can't even understand what you are saying! And the puns!" She said as she waved her hooves in the air.
"But they're punny....okay...that was really low. Even for me. But puns are just a spur of the moment thing." Discord defended. The two bickering elders ignored the unicorn before them. Who chuckled to himself. He had been told by his own love of his life that the two royals had certain spark between them. And after Cadence had explained it to him, he actually noticed it. Noticed how the two would act different around each other.
He found it surprising, yet cute.
"Yeah. Spur of the moment. Just like turning Canterlot into marzipan!" Celestia sneered.
"But I love marzipan!" Discord whined.
"Who doesn't? But it was during summer, Discord. And the citizens didn't really approve of hot marzipan dripping onto their heads." Celestia snorted. Discord chuckled, before rubbing his temples. Another wave of a migraine hit him hard. He also felt a pain in his chest. As if something was literally ripping apart inside his chest.
"Okay, you're highness. If you trust him, then I'll trust him." Shining Armour bowed. He was just about to leave the room until he heard someone coughing. At first, he pushed it aside. It was just a cough.
However, whoever coughed, began hacking loudly. And from the sounds of it, painfully.
"Discord?! Discord!!" Celestia panicked. Shining Armour turned around to see the alicorn holding up the draconnequus.
"Discord! Hang in there! Please!!" She begged. Watching as blood dripped from his mouth and nose.
"Princess!" Armour trotted over to the thrones.
"Shining Armour! Get Doctor Redheart! Now!!" She demanded. The unicorn saluted before galloping off.
Celestia felt fresh tears brim her eyes as she held Discord's unconscious body. She watched, helplessly, as he spluttered out blood. All she could do was hold him.
"He's cold. He's terribly cold." She thought to herself. From the corner of her rose musk eyes, she could see the sun out of the window. She could see it flashing, and flickering. She could also see it grow dimmer. She turned back to Discord, who was barely breathing.
"Oh Discord. Please...please don't go yet. Don't leave me again." She croaked.
"Please, Rainbow Dash. Save us all."

-And stuff!!!!If you dislike Dislestia, then I'm sorry. And if it seems like I'm pushing too much into this story, sorry again. Originally, the story was going to have a range of romances. But then, I just kept it to SoarinDash. Then added Dislestia. They're both my favourite.
