Chapter 14: Chapter 14- Runaway Broken

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

Her head madly throbbed with pain. Her throat burning. Her small, light body felt stiff and sore. She felt a blunt strike of pain around her neck. She tried opening her eyes, but the bright light burned.

"What in Equestria happened?"

Images of a griffin flashed through her mind. The panicked look of her lover, the mad grin of the griffin with his claws around her throat. Then darkness.

"Oh yeah. That."

She attempted to move, but her body didn't respond.

"Great." She thought sarcastically. She flickered her eyes open, to be met with a dirty floor, chains and bars.
"At least I'm where I wanted to be."

She sighed quietly, catching her breath. She felt so tired and feeble. The mare stared to regain the feeling to her body again.

"I love you, Soarin." A mare whispered.

"Wait, what?"

She shakily lifted herself up, turning around. Her chains rattling. She gasped loudly at the sight before her. Her heart cracking in two. Tears welling up in her eyes.

"Soarin? Twilight?" She croaked. Her throat dry. She watched as the two ponies parted and turned to the pegasus mare.

"Rainbow? You're awake?" Twilight sheepishly smiled.

Soarin's eyes lit up like a fire.
"Dashie! You're alive!" He grinned. "I was so worried. I thought you were de-"

"You two were kissing." Rainbow muttered. Soarin's expression fell quickly.

"No. Nonono. We weren't." He stuttered.

"You two were kissing." Dash repeated, shakily standing up. "I knew it. I knew it." Tears ran down mare's cheeks.

"No, you don't understand. I didn't-"

"Don't lie to me, Soarin! I'm sick of lies!!" She cried. It pained Soarin so much to see her cry.

Twilight watched. She just sat there and watched. A burst of happiness filling her.
"I kissed him." She muttered quietly to herself. However, it wasn't just happiness she felt, a flame of evil flickered inside of her. "And now he's mine."

"Please, Rainbow. You're my one and only."

"I thought for moment, maybe he does love me after all, but now I wake up to see this! How long has this being going on for?!"

"It hasn't! Tell her, Twilight!" Soarin turned to alicorn, who sat up. "Tell her that you came onto me! That nothing has happened!" He begged.

"Don't lie to her, Soarin. She's suffered enough." She replied. Soarin sat there, wide eyed and shocked.
"I'm so sorry, Rainbow. We didn't have the heart to tell you before. But me and Soarin are in love."

"No, wait-" Twilight shoved her hoof into the stallion's mouth, and lay on top of him. Being the gentle-stallion he is, he couldn't push the injured mare away.

Twilight stared at Rainbow, sobbing fully.

"Every night we've spent here, was making sweet love. I might even be carrying his child now."

"B-but..."

"Soarin and I love each other so much. He said that I'm so much better than you. Prettier. Smarter. More girly. Not an assassin. And not weak." Twilight smirked.

"I trusted you. I trusted both of you." Rainbow wailed into her hooves. Twilight watched with no emotion.

Until she glanced at the wailing mare, and stallion below her.
"Oh no." Her eyes opened in complete surprise. She tumbled off the stallion. "No. What have I done? Rainbow doesn't deserve this....I'm an evil pony. How could I do such a thing?"

"Dashie please. She's lying. All of it. I love you and you only." Soarin cried. He hated watching Rainbow cry. Every time she cried, he would hold her, hug her, and stroke her mane.

"I loved you, Soarin. I loved you so much. You made me into a better mare. "

Soarin looked at floor, desperate. He glanced at the alicorn with nothing but absolute hatred.

"I'm sorry..." He uttered.

"Just be glad that I'm in a different cell." Rainbow sighed. Turning away from the two ponies.

Soarin stared at the mare. Trying not to cry. But as he turned to the princess beside him, he stared daggers at her. Twilight gulped and felt a pang of guilt. She didn't understand why she did that. Why did she ruin her friend's life?

Rainbow pulled her saddle bags over, and used the key to unlock the chains around her hooves. Lifting the quills and paper out, she pulled a tab, revealing several other items. Twilight glanced up, noticing that the chains were no longer around the pegasus.

She watched as her friend ruffled her hair, getting rid of most of the blue dye. Soarin looked up too. Gazing her still curled rainbow- partly blue- mane.

Rainbow Dash placed on her cloak, strapped on her bracers, tied her belt around her waist- putting her dagger in the holder.

"Rainbow?" Twilight squeaked.

"You really think I came here without a plan? I knew that this would happen." Rainbow replied, looking away from the mare. After strapping on the saddle bags, she unlocked her door.
"I may not be the leader anymore, but I still have orders. And they are to rescue you."
She placed the key into the lock, twisting it. As she opened the door, she sighed.

"Please. Just don't tell anypony. About this. Not until I get back." Rainbow asked as she took of her former lover's, and friend's chains.

"Not until you get back? You're leaving us?"

"I have some business here. I'll lead you to a chariot and they'll take you straight to Canterlot." The cyan pegasus helped the princess stand up, her legs shaking.

"No, Dashie. What if you die?" Soarin questioned quietly.

"Then you can get off with her....again. Come on." Rainbow snapped as she led the way down the corridor.

~~~~~~
The three ponies walked in silence. Not saying a word. They occasionally had to stop for either Twilight and her wound, or because Rainbow had to kill off a guard.
The corridors were brightly lit up with the sun's light, through the barred windows. And the were surprisingly clean. Soarin stared at the rainbow mare before him, her head hung low. He felt so betrayed. Betrayed by a friend.
They were all walking quietly until Rainbow stopped abruptly. Her ear twitching as she looked down the corridors.
"Go. Go now." Rainbow whispered urgently as she pulled out her dagger.
Suddenly, spear shot forwards. Hitting Twilight in the waist. The alicorn screamed out pain as she felt it pierce her flesh. Soarin quickly snapped off the wood, and placed her on his back.
"Go this way. Quickly." Rainbow ordered. Soarin nodded as he began trotting down the next corridor. The mare on his back groaning in pain. Soarin glanced behind him to self his fiancé slicing the throats of three griffins and stabbing two. He screeched to a halt as four griffins stood before him.
"Going somewhere?" They chuckled. But before Soarin could reply, Rainbow skidded past.
"Say hi for me when you go to Tartarus." She teased as kicked them down, the griffins' tried hitting the swift mare with their swords and spears. But she dodged them easily.
Soarin stared in awe as the blood squirted from their throats. Watching the blades slice through their skin.
As she fought off another griffin, she shouted at Soarin.
"Go! Keep going down, the chariot is there. They'll take you home."
Soarin nodded and jumped over the lifeless bodies upon the floor. Just as he was about to gallop off, he heard Rainbow yelp out in pain as the griffin pierced her flesh with his sword. Leaving a nasty gash around her waist with her cloak torn.
"Go, Soarin. I'll be right behind you." She called out, kicking the griffin down, and using his sword to stab him in the wing. The stallion stared at her for a couple of seconds before running off.
~~~~~~

Soarin continued running down, avoiding every griffin. His physique from extreme training helped a lot. He wanted to fly out, but the ceilings were too low to even fly a hoof off the ground. He panted as he galloped down. As soon as he saw daylight shining through an open exit he grinned.

"Hang on, your highness. We're nearly there."

Twilight could barely open her eyes. Blood poured from her mouth and from her wound, coating herself and Soarin's back.
"I-I-I...m...s-sorry. A-about earlier."

"Just don't worry about now." He shouted, but he quickly stopped as a griffin jumped out before him. Holding two swords in his claws.

"Nowhere to go now, is there?" He cackled, as Soarin threw a large rock at the griffin's head. Creating a large wound across it.
"Ack! I'll bloody kill ya!!" Waving his swords into the air, ready to strike on the stallion stood in a defensive pose.

Suddenly, he stopped. And fell to ground with a thud, a large dagger in his back. Soarin gasped as he stared at the bleeding body upon the floor. A pony in a white cloak and with a golden aura approached the stallion.

"Lyra!"

"Oh my goodness! We must get her highness home. Stat." Lyra hovered the alicorn of the stallion's back as they quickly trotted towards the exit.
"Where's Rainbow Dash?"

"I-I'm right here." The pegasus crooked, her blood dripping out of her nose from when she was hit in the face. Soarin rushed over to her, to support her. But as he trotted over to her, she threatened him with her bloodied bracer.
"I will cut your throat." She growled, her breathe ragged and uneven, from the running and fighting.

"Rainbow..." He muttered, staring into her eyes. Her shining rose eyes. Rainbow gazed back, weakly. Gazing at the stallion she fell for. She shakily leaned against the wall. Breathing, heavily. Soarin slowly walked over, and lifted up her blood stained cloak. He gasped as he saw the large wound across her side. Blood poured out of the open flesh. Rainbow winced as the Wonderbolt pulled out bits of wood and stones caught in the wound..
"You'll die, if you don't get this treated."

"I don't care. Just go back, and screw your new marefriend." She hissed, both through pain and anger.

"Dash. She was lying. All of it. Was a lie." Soarin pulled out a set bandages from the saddle bags, and carefully wrapped it around the mare's injury.

"Then why would she say that? What would she get?"

"Soarin!! We've got to go!!" Lyra called. Soarin tied up the bandage, carefully placing the cloak down.

"Go. Everypony is waiting for you." Rainbow smiled gently, tightening her bracer.

"But what about you? We can't leave without you." Before the elite flier realised, the cyan mare placed her foreleg around his neck, bringing his face closer to hers. The two pegasi's lips merging together. Their tongues twisting around in their mouths.

As they parted, Rainbow noticed the oncoming horde of griffin guards.
"You can. And will. Now go." She pushed Soarin forwards, who was still stunned by the kiss. He flew up into the chariot, watching his fiancé as she began to fly around the large brown castle. He noticed two pegasus guards and a pegasus assassin flew along with chariot.

As Lyra tried tending to the alicorn's fatal injury, who was fading in and out of consciousness, she noticed the pegasus stallion. Staring at the distant castle. Silent and cold.
"She'll never believe me. She still loves me but she won't bucking believe me!! Some princess Twilight is. Princess of jerks. You'll pay Twilight Sparkle."

Author's Notes:

Hi again.
I've decided to leave the Flashlight out. Sorry. I'd rather not get dislikes because of it. And don't attempt to change my mind, I'm not. The plot is set.

Sorry for shortish, sudden quickly written chapter. This one bugged me. Anywho, more of Feather Tail, Gilda, Lucille and Rainbow later. And it doesn't end too well for one of them.

Thank you for reading and comment any errors.
