Chapter 12: Chapter 12- Feasting On Secrets

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

The violet mare shot up. An ear piercing scream escaping from her lips. Her fear filled eyes wide open, and brimmed with tears. Her straight hair dishevelled and scruffy. The chains around her hooves rattled loudly, waking the pony beside her.

"Twilight? What's wrong?" He asked in concern. Twilight slowly gained her breath. Inhaling slowly as she wiped away her tears.

"Errr....nothing. Just a nightmare." She muttered. The stallion scrunched up his snout. He was not buying this. The mare brushed her mane with her hoof, attempting to keep it straight.

"Twilight. It's okay. Just tell me." He soothed, smiling gently. Twilight stared at the pegasus, her heart melting. She opened her mouth to speak, but was interrupted by a gruff griffin.

"Hey. Listen love birds, I have an important notice for you two." He said loudly.

"We aren't lovers." Twilight replied, biting her lip.

"Yeah, you kidnapped me on my wedding." Soarin retorted to the griffin, who just snorted.

"Yeah yeah, whatever. Just listen, Commander Feather Tail has ordered my to tell you this." The grey griffin brought out a piece of paper from under his wing. "Ah-hem. Prisoners, Princess Twilight Sparkle of Equestria and Co- Captain Wonderbolt Soarin Skies, shall attend a feast with the Commander at dusk. There, he shall inform you of his duties. Along with you, another pony shall be joining you. Equestria's ambassador, Miss Blue Breeze." He screwed up the piece of paper in his claw and threw it behind him.
"That is all." The grey griffin fluttered his large wings as he walked away. Leaving the two ponies alone again.

"Blue Breeze? Never heard of her. I always thought the ambassador was Clarity Crystal Tail." Twilight thought aloud, yawning. Soarin cracked a smile as his mind clicked,

"My fiancé is such a gem."

~~~~~~
They sat a large, dark oak table. Laid with plates, cutlery, bowls, napkins and glasses. The hall they were in was similar to that of the Headquarters of the Creed. Dark brown on the lower half of the walls, and beige- near white- on the top half. A scarlet red border around the wall where the two colours met.
The two ponies gazed at the painted portraits of griffins, in armour, uniform or in robes. Chains were still around their hooves, but only on the back-legs. Their messy hair combed and cleaned, and their coats washed. And Twilight had fresh bandages, but she still felt incredibly weak. The Princess and the Wonderbolt sat beside each other on the same side of the table.
A griffin walked in, followed by another griffin in grey uniform. His large, light brown wings tightly by his sides.
"Welcoming, Commander Feather Tail." The grey griffin bowed and walked to the door as his leader sat down at the top of the table.
"Good evening, Princess and Wonderbolt. Nice of you to join me." Feather smiled, as his servant poured some wine in the glass he was holding in his claw.
"We had no real choice." Soarin muttered, fluttering his wings.
"Yes well, your beloved Princess Celestia forced me to." Feather was about to explain why, until he was interrupted by a light brown female griffin, with white feathers forming a fringe over her face. Tinged with purple.
"Sorry, sir. But, the ambassador of Equestria has arrived." The griffin pointed to the cyan pegasus trotting up.
"Thank you, Gilda. You may leave."
"Yes, sir." Gilda saluted as she left, leaving the pegasus mare standing by the door.
"Come and sit, Miss,"
"Blue Breeze." The mare trotted over to the seat, sitting opposite the other two ponies. Her hair was a stunning true blue, and curled. Almost similar to a certain white unicorn. She wore a simple white collar with a black ribbon tie. A set of black saddle bags were strapped around her waist. She had a set of square black glasses in front of her bright rose eyes. At an instant of glancing upon her gem-like eyes, Soarin knew who it was.
"Yes, well. You know why I have invited you, don't you?" Feather asked, watching the mare as she placed her bags on the floor beside her.
"Actually, no." Her voice was a lot softer than Soarin remembered, and a lot more formal. "All I know is that you have taken our dear Princess Twilight Sparkle and the Co- captain of the Wonderbolts. Your reason is still unknown to us. So tell us, why is it that wish to invade Equestria?"
"Invade Equestria? Oh, you are so funny, Miss Breeze. Why ever would I need to invade...such a sweet, and loving land?" Feather smirked at the cyan mare.
"Oh please. Don't patronise me. You've taken one of the leaders of Equestria, and you're telling me you don't want to invade? My, griffins can be so indecisive."
"My, such words. You're accusing me of such crimes. I simply want peace with my fellow ponies." Feather Tail said quietly, attempting to sound innocent.
"We have peace. Equestria is the land of peace and harmony."
"Hmm. If so, why does the land of harmony need such a things as assassins? From what you call, the Assassins Creed." His smirked burned into the soul of the cyan mare.
"To keep the peace in order. I said, Equestria was a land of harmony, not perfect." Breeze sneered.
"And neither is our land. We wish for a...connection with our pony friends. Which is why you are here."
"You kidnapped our leader. You are totally asking for peace." She muttered sarcastically.
Feather tutted as he clicked his claws.
"Miss breeze, how about we do this more camly? Wouldn't that be better for all of us? Let's discuss this over dinner."
Several servants walked out, holding dishes of food. The plates clattered as clattered as they hit the table. The scent of delicious food was intoxicating, especially for the two prisoners.
As the two servants helped place food on the prisoners plates, Feather helped himself. Gently grabbing all sorts. But Blue's plate remained empty.
"Come on, Miss Breeze. Help yourself." Feather exclaimed, but the mare shook her head.
"I am not hungry." She simply uttered.
"Miss Breeze, I may not be the smartest, but I know what is wrong. You must eat. As I can tell from your...admirable figure, you haven't properly eaten." He stated. And if was true. The mare's rib cage was beginning to show. But she couldn't eat, her mind was telling her not to. If she can't support a small life, why should it continue to support her.
"I am in no mood to eat." Breeze replied, ignoring the stallion across the table. His face full of worry.
"What does she mean?! She's been starving herself?! But she's carrying a foal!!" Soarin thought to himself. But as he looked closer, he could no longer see a bump. "Oh no. No. It can't be. Everything was perfect. No. I'm so sorry. I should have been there for her."
"Oh, my dear. We may not use magic like unicorns, but us griffins are magical in our own ways. We pay attention to detail. I've got someone who specialises in it. Into seeking the truth." Feather sipped at his drinking clicking his claws again. A servant came up, nodded and went down through a corridor.
They waited for at least a minute until the servant came back, followed by an elder griffin. Her feathers tinged with white.
"This is Lucille Wings. She's a psychic."
"This isn't necessary, sir. We really need to discuss the matters of-"
"Nonsense. You've only just arrived. Now, Lucille, do your work." Feather laughed. The elderly griffin walked over to the mare. Scanning over her.
"Hmmm. 26 years of age. Hard worker. Extreme flier." She muttered as she lifted the mare's wings. As she let go of the wings, she turned the mare's head, and stared into the rose eyes. Breeze felt uneasy as the griffin stared at her.
"Depressing life. Suffering and pain. Hmmm. Great losses. Family...is dead...suffered a horrible punishment from a stallion."
"Can we stop?" Breeze squeaked, but the griffin continued.
"Fell in love...oh, and lost a love...but what is this?" Lucille mumbled. "Another love. A better love. A stronger love. You love this stallion?"
Breeze nodded.
"Of course. No matter what he does, you love him. Even if he hurts you."
"He would never hurt me. Never." Breeze added, glancing at the stallion opposite her.
"Of course he wouldn't. Why would he hurt the mare that he loved? But there is something else I see. A great, great pain. A flicker of darkness. On such a good day."
"Please stop." She croaked.
"He left. Never appeared to become your husband. For another mare."
"Please. Just stop."
"But you were wrong. So very wrong. He still loved you. But your sadness and anger made you blind, because not only did you lose the pony you loved, you lost somepony else. A friend. A good friend. Who was a sister to you. Who you believed left you with him. And yet you were wrong."
"I know. Please. Stop this now."
"Wait. Something deeper. Something that broke your heart. Your body is weak. Too weak. You lost something deep inside of you. A foal. Another hit of grief."
"Please stop this!!" Breeze begged louder. Tears brimming her eyes.
"You blame yourself. You couldn't protect something that you promised to keep safe. A life growing inside of you, died inside of you. Before the stallion left you. Before your wedding. You couldn't tell him. You feared him. You feared that he would leave you. Because you are a weak mare."
"STOP!!" Blue breeze shouted, echoing around the hall. The Commander smirked as tears fell down the mare's cheeks.
"Just stop. Please."
Lucille Wings glanced to her leader, who nodded. She turned back to the mare.
"I apologise. But there is something else. You're a leader, aren't you?"
"Excuse, Commander Feather Tail. I believe it's to discuss the freedom of these two." She sheepishly grinned through her tears. Another griffin burst in, startling everyone inside the hall.
"Sir! The leader! She is here! The Assassin Creed's leader!! She's something on the island!!" He panted.
"Send all guards out. Hunt her down, and bring her to me." He commander. The out of breath griffin saluted as he dragged himself away.
Twilight coughed as the room stood in silence. Feather sat up, pushing his plate away.
"Miss Wings. Leave."
"Yes, sir." She bowed her head and fluttered away. The ponies watched in silence as she left, before turning back to the leader of the Griffins.
"Well, Miss Dashery. You almost had me fooled." He clapped his claws.
"I have no idea what you are talking about." The pegasus muttered. But before she could say anything else, she was pushed onto the ground. Her head hitting the marble floor with a thud. She gasped out as a set of claws pushed down on her throat.
"Rainbow!" Soarin jumped up, but was pulled back down by the chains.
Rainbow gasped for air as the griffin pressed harder.
"What's your plan now? Oh mighty assassin."
The cyan mare's mind panicked. Unable to think of anything. Everything began to grow fuzzy. Her eyesight growing darker and darker. She attempted to flutter her wings, but any attempt was fruitless. She felt her life slip away slowly as her lungs begged for air.
The last thing she saw was the evil grin of the griffin above her, and muffled shouts of the stallion she loved, before everything went black.
