Chapter 9: The Ailing of God

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

‘Cursed Ones are only born by blind abhorrence.’

Was this it, your chance of freedom being swept away from the grips belonging to that vile devil? Tears strained down your cheeks as you watched yourself being taken through rows of chairs into the main atrium. You shook your head left and right, denying that this was happening. You believed at first it was a dream, but as you were endlessly pushed around in the strapped wheelchair by the small deceiving man, you knew your life’s end approached with Death right behind it.

When the man stopped, he turned you around until you were facing the entrance which you came from. There, in a white wedding gown was Pinkamena softly smiling at you. Next to her was the Tall Man that gazed at you with his emotionless stare that froze you in fear. But your fear was pushed aside once you took notice of the devilish mare’s steps. As she proceeded towards you, you began struggling to get out of the leather binds, but remained unsuccessful.

You soon stopped and stared at the wrist of hers as she gently cupped your cheek and moved your chin up to stare into her soulless eyes. What did she want with you? Why was she so obsessed with you? She should have killed you, you thought plenty of times, and at least death would ease your suffering from this place.

“It’s amazing, how it took so long for us to get you. Do you know how long it has been since your first attempt in leaving this place?” she asked, tilting her head lightly right, leaning down to your eye level, “three days, crazy, huh? Three days has passed and so far it felt like weeks.”

She let go of you and backed away in a twirling motion. When she stopped, she glared at you with a seductive smile and slowly walked towards you. She sat down on your lap and twiddled around with your hair. You felt uncomfortable and violated. Already she had had her way with you and there was nothing more she could do to make it worse but taunt you.

“Don’t worry; you will spend your life with me here, beside me where you rightfully belong because…a Cursed One like you…deserves only torment and punishment for their doing, huh?” She asked, as if she knew of the torment you been through.

You mentally question if what happened back then was really all your fault. Did the one mare you saw as your mother cursed you for her death? You shook your head, but it became still when she grasped it and lifted your face up to hers. You wanted to be released from her sinful hands. Her breath was laced with iron and sweets as if she had been eating some pastries.

Suddenly, the lights went out as the sound of the fire alarm went off. Glass shattering into pieces rung through your ears along with the sound of hollering. Eventually, gunshots flashed in the darkness before an explosion was set off. You felt the force blow you back. Eventually, you felt someone’s hands in the darkness unloosing the straps before a flickering light down a hallway leading towards stairs shined ahead of you.

Fear pushed you as you got up and did not dare look back. You ran into the hall, stumbling a bit, but keeping your balance heading towards the way out the place. When you began running up the steps, you stopped and gasped once a patient rolled down the steps covered in fire. You watched as he cried out in agony from the scorching flames. You continued running, entering into another hallway that led you into the second floor of the atrium. Your memory began jogging quickly as you suddenly remembered that the exit was close by.

Taking a left, you continue running, passing by the fire that was busy spreading around, eating away at the wooden floor, the furniture, and drapes. When you came to the stairway, you stopped and looked down seeing that your only way of escaping was blocked by burning debris.

You soon flinched when you heard the gunshots ranging out in the air. Turning around, you saw the path where the elevator was located at and took it. You were glad you encountered no madmen yet, but escaping the collapsing place. When the elevator was at a good distance, you picked up your pace. Suddenly, the ceiling above you gave way and a pile of metal debris on fire fell down, crushing through the wooden floor, causing you to fall down.

You held onto the baseboard of the wall, staring down at the dark hole where the debris continued to be burn. Pulling yourself up, you soon leaped over the hole and quickly ran towards the elevator. When you pressed the button, you looked back and saw from down the hallway a group of black suit masked men entering into the hall holding sub-machine guns. When they spotted you, they opened fired. You duck as the bullets missed and when the elevator opened, someone grabbed you and pulled you in. The doors closed as bullets continue to fly by missing you.

When you looked up, you saw Terrae looking at you calmly. You sighed in relief, but watched as the elevator ascended up the floors. Shaking your head, you got up and gave him a thankful nod. When the steel doors opened, you turned to face down the hallway that led a few corridors to your room and saw many injured patients. Few were treating others while others lied dead on the ground covered in blood and bullet wounds.

“They’ve come…for you.” Terrae spoken, causing you to look at him.

“They only wish to kill you while the daughter of Satan wishes to marry you. We seek to save you and get you as far away from this place as possible.” One patient, covered in burnt marks coughed out.

You were glad, relieved that these type of patients wanted to help you on your escape, but curious to who were the Black Suits? Why did they want to kill you? Stress was possibly expected if you decided to take your time and think about it, so you decided to ignore why and worry about getting out in general.

“There is still a way out of here. Father Abel forgot to mention that there is a secret passage located in the cafeteria. Making it over there will be difficult, but I am sure you been through many dreadful obstacles that you are ready for whatever you have to get through.” Terrae said. You nodded your head, but deep down you were frightened.

“I will lead you to the cafeteria passage, but I cannot assist you anymore from there. You will be on your own. Be warn though, the daughter of Satan will not be too far back behind. Those reapers may be after you, but she is smart enough to pass by their eyes faster than a poison would when it sinks into your heart.”

You wanted to thank him, but he silenced you and motioned you to quickly follow him. As you two walked down the hallway, you looked back at all the other patients becoming worry. For once, you actually thought about others than yourself in this place. You could trust them, but what of their safety. Was it safe to stay up here?

As you two stopped in front of a stairway door, Terrae frowned, staring at the injured patients. “None of us will last any longer. Soon, we will, too, be taken away by death.” With that being said, you knew they were fated to die. Terrae entered into the stairway and proceeded cautiously down the stairs. You stood behind him and this time did not look back.

Death waited for no man after all, it was time’s decision to decide when it will catch up to you.

Author's Notes:

I decided it was best to add in the third set. Black Suits are originally called Charon's Peddlers. Nothing much to say honestly since I do not want to spoil much, but meh. Enjoy and stay safe this season.
