Azure Sky's Bio

(Winter Storm's Bio in depth and through Azure's eyes, as well as her past.)  

Azure Sky grew up in Cloudsdale. She was a decent flier, but nothing special. She decided that she should join the Equestrian Weather Patrol, as many pegasi do. As she progressed through training, Azure remained a "blank-flank," causing her to feel disheartened and boring. A chance for her to shine, however, was not long in waiting. As part of an experiment, a large number of storm clouds had been gathered near the Everfree Forest. A theory was being tested, one that could potentially make the management of storms and bad weather much easier on the EWP. Then things went horribly wrong. Due to the inattentiveness of the supervising pegasus, the storm cluster began to drift towards the edge of the Everfree. By the time the pegasi realized this, it had crossed the invisible border where no weather can be controlled. The storm doubled in size, and shot off in a seemingly random direction.. As it travelled over the land, torrents of ice and snow blanketed the ground, accompanied by fierce winds. Stunned by the sudden departure of the storm, most pegasi did nothing but hover in place. Azure, however, recovered the quickest and charged toward the cloud. Right behind her was the only other pegasus who had stayed alert, an unusually large colt who went by the name of Winter Storm. As the two pegasi reached the front of the storm, a sudden burst of lighting startled them, causing them to drop several feet below the clouds. The winds instantly grabbed ahold of them, and forced them into the icy ground. The sudden shock of cold left the young pegasus unable to move or think coherently. Winter Storm attempted to grab her and fly out of the storm, but it was a futile attempt. Eventually he gave up on trying to fly away, and sheltered Azure from the wind as best as he could. Despite his size, he was only a colt, and his body could only shield her so much. Azure began to slip into unconsciousness. It was then that Winter Storm discovered his rare powers, using them to keep the storm at bay while flying towards the nearest settlement in order to save Azure. Azure Sky did not awaken until the pair reached the gates of Canterlot Castle. As Winter crashed to the ground, a squad of royal guards approached. Azure pleaded for them to take Winter to into medical care. The guards instead brought the two young ponies to the throne room of the castle, where the divine Princess Luna was deep in concentration. As the group approached, she opened her eyes and stepped towards them. Luna calmly assessed the situation, and sent the squad of guards to get Winter Storm into medical care. In a suprisingly light voice, Luna asked Azure Sky what had transpired. As Azure told her story, the Princess kept a neutral expression, until Azure got to the hazy recounting of Winter's power. Her eyes widened considerably, and she silenced Azure. She seemed to be pondering over a dilemma of sorts, and then she once again addressed Azure. Luna explained to her that Winter Storm had a very rare and powerful gift, and would need careful training in Canterlot. After her recovery, Azure would be free to return to Cloudsdale. At this, Azure stiffened, and boldly told the Princess that she would not leave her friend until he recovered, and she would wait for him to make his own decision. Luna's expression hardened for a second, unused to being contradicted by anypony other than her sister, but then softened as she realized what Winter Storm meant to Azure. She nodded her assent, and Azure was led to the hospital.

Azure Sky spent the next month alongside Winter Storm, who had been in far worse condition than her. During that time, she grew even more fond of Winter Storm, and he to her. Once he was released, the pair separated for three months. Winter being trained as a Sky Archon, and Azure working with the Ponyville Weather Patrol. Although Winter had earned his Cutie Mark when he saved her from that unnatural storm, she remained without a special talent. That is, until Discord was released. When it was discovered that Discord had been freed from his prison, the Archons were dispatched all over Equestria to protect the settlements from harm. By pure chance, Winter was sent to Ponyville. Azure, in the meantime, was tasked by the Weather Patrol's leader Rainbow Dash, to try and corral the strange clouds of cotton candy away from Ponyville while she went off to stop Discord with the other Elements. Minutes after Rainbow Dash left, a huge cluster of CCC (Cotton Candy Clouds) reached the center of Ponyville and scattered in all directions. As she assigned the teams of pegasi to go after specific clouds, she heard a faint cry of pain near the town hall. Azure flew towards the hall as fast as she could, and was confronted by a startling and worrying sight. Winter Storm, wearing a loose-fitting suit of armor, was stuck to multiple clouds. Judging from the bits of frost covering several clouds, Winter had attempted to use his power to freeze the clouds in place. Clearly, it was ineffective, and more clouds had arrived and attached themselves to him. Suddenly, the clouds began to pull apart in different directions, as if they desired to be as far away from the trapped Archon as possible. Winter Storm, however, was still trapped, and let out a cry of pain as the clouds began to pull him in all directions. With that cry, Azure rushed forward, and without thinking, bucked the closest CCC as hard as she could. Winter tried to warn her, knowing that she would become as trapped and helpless as him. To his amazement, the targeted cloud seemed to shatter into small fragments, blowing away in seconds. Azure wasted no time in repeating the process until Winter was completely free. Out of breath and exhausted, Azure turned toward Winter, only to find him floating in place with a smile on his face.

 "Well, now we're even," he chuckled, "I save you from crazy weather, and you save me right back." 

"Must be my special talent or something" retorted Azure.

Winter's eyes widened as he suddenly peered to her side. "What?" she said, narrowing her eyes in amusement, "Do I still have cotton candy on me?" She turned her head, only to freeze with her gaze locked upon her flank. There, glimmering like a dragon's treasure hoard, was a Cutie Mark. She turned back and fixed her emerald green eyes upon Winter's sky blue gaze. Every emotion and thought the two pegasi had ever had towards each other came out in three words.

"I love you."

These words would manifest themselves throughout the lives of Winter Storm and Azure Sky.  The most obvious, and yet eternally suprising assurance came in the appearance of Auburn Breeze.
