Winter Storm's Bio

Like many pegasi, he was born and raised in Cloudsdale. At an early age, he showed an aptitude for flying, and progressed quickly in flight school. His Cutie mark appeared after he demonstrated the rare and powerful ability to magically control specific weather. Namely, storms of ice and snow.

He discovered this when he and another pegasus became trapped in the open during a deadly blizzard. Cold, desperate, and dying, he had willed with all of his heart that the storm would stop battering them. To his astonishment, the fierce winds of the storm parted before him, sparing the life of the other pegasus and his own. They were able to reach the gates of Canterlot Castle, when Winter Storm's strength gave out, and he fell into embrace of death. Or so everypony thought.

As it was the middle of the night, Princess Luna was awake and controlling the moon's slow progress across the sky. She was focused on this task, until a squad of Royal Guards entered the throne room carrying two battered pegasi. One was awake and struggling to stand upright, while the other was deathly still. Luna rushed towards the two pegasi, gaze fixed upon the unmoving pony. Without looking away, she asked the other pegasus what had happened. As his story was told, she recognized what the seemingly dead pony was, and the potential he had.

With no time to awaken Celestia, Princess Luna used her power to revive the dying pony, determined to keep this pegasus from the black chasm of death. With a cough and a shiver, Winter Storm opened his ice blue eyes and focused on the regal face of Luna. At that moment, in a quick burst of magic, a mark appeared on his side. A mark of a single snowflake, with an image of a strong wind behind it. He quickly turned and attempted to see this new development, but was stopped by the magic of Luna. She explained to the bewildered pegasus that after such an ordeal, he should not be moving, and ordered the guards to find housing for the two pegasi. As the pegasi were carried away, Luna was formulating a plan for this unique pony. After presenting this plan to Celestia and recieving her full support, Luna set her idea in motion. After spending a long 2 weeks in recovery, Winter Storm recieved a message to appear before the rulers of Equestria. Ignoring the protests of his supervising doctor, he unsteadily flew to the throne room with all possible haste. When he reached the throne room, he was greeted by the royal alicorn sisters. After rising from the customary bow, Winter Storm offered his gratitude to Luna for saving his life. He stated that he would forever be in debt to her. To this, she proposed her plan. As she saved his life, he would in turn repay that by protecting hers. Confused, Winter Storm only nodded. Seeing his confusion, she quickly explained what she meant. He was to become a member of the Royal Guard, but to a special division called the Sky Archons. He would be part of the group that protected the two alicorns, namely Princess Luna. When he asked her to elaborate what a Sky Archon was, she simply replied "You." Winter Storm glanced at Princess Celestia, who explained in more detail. A Sky Archon was a pegasus who had the rare ability to magically control the weather without having a unicorn horn. They were a small branch of the Guard, but they were the best. When a dragon went on a rampage, the Archons were sent. When a threat emerged, the Archons put it down. They were led by a blind white pegasus by the name of Storm Wing, who had the power to control lightning and sense the auras of living creatures. For several months, Winter Storm was trained to be one of the most powerful defenders of Equestria. By the time Discord was defeated by the bearers of the Elements of Harmony, Winter Storm was a full-fledged Sky Archon, ready to give his life to repay an everlasting debt to Princess Luna. As of now, he stands prepared for any threat, ready to eliminate it in a storm of winter's pure fury.
